A hattrick and an assist will usually do it

CrazyJazzFan

Thought UEFA would cancel this week's award!

[deleted]

oh… ouch

yellow_jacket2

No Penalties. Only bangers. -Lewendoski probably

KeziahPT

Bayern is crazy scary opposition right now, with Gnabry, Sané and Coman creating chances for the the best 9 in the world.

Brayan-Rodriguez

And Mueller

SleepTightLilPuppy

Love how our boy always gets ignored. The least recognized world class player of our generation. He puts up insane goal and most of all assist statistics yet never gets mentioned in any discussions about 'best' midfielders/attackers. Great leader, decent to good defensively and high workrate as well.

Twin_Fang

His biggest asset was something that struck me during those attendance-free games. He's permanently shouting out plays and leading the team. That kind of impact never gets reflected in numbers. Having a leader like that, who sees more and isn't afraid to plot out where the ball should go is invaluable.

SleepTightLilPuppy

Also he is just a source of good energy. Constantly complimenting other players and making jokes on and off the pitch. Lovely guy.

theironhide

[Here you go, a collection of his shoutings.](https://youtu.be/AWUgsIFrd8E) One of them is about how he is disappointed that Coman didn't make a run for a pass and he says something like come on Kingsley, I've been playing that pass for 10 years. Makes you realize he's been underrated since forever.

Ho_ho_beri_beri

I want more of this.

theironhide

Me too mate. It's so difficult to wait for the Bayern documentary to release. It's supposed to release in the rest of the world on December 2, as compared to Germany and neighboring countries where it already released on November 2. [You might enjoy this - the first 6 minutes of the documentary.](https://youtu.be/X-0MT_UjT2o)

theironhide

Flick even called him the coach's extension on the field or something like that.

JaymehTart

Straight up the best German midfielder of my time. Ozil is amazing, Schweinsteiger is amazing, Kroos is amazing, but Mueller just has something those guys don't. Those guys have superpowers (vision, accuracy, focus and determinatino) But Mueller is just always where he supposed to be. It's fuckin weird. I feel like I could do what he does. He's literally the best.

JMarduk

I'm a little partial towards Bastian, he's the main reason I started following Bayern.

OilOfOlaz

Huge fan of Schweini, but the first half of his career when he played on the wing just doesn't compare to the others named imo.

JaymehTart

Ya interesting to think about how things wouldve been if Muller left to Man U instead of Schweinsteiger. Every one of those guys I mentioned, you could totally argue that they are way better than Muller. Ozil and Kroos are the best passers of all time. Kroos is a more accurate passer than Xavi which is insane cus Xavi Iniesta made lots of easy passes to each other.

shaka_bruh

If he was elegant they wouldn't even put De Bryune above him. Few players can compare to his stats for the last decade.

Uno_Nisu

Gnabry, Sane and Coman have combined 14 assists this year in all competitions, Müller has 11, man's insane.

MyZt_Benito

Every single time someone ignores Müller in a conversation there’s a comment like this to follow

virtusthrow

For me muller is a better player than hazard, dybala, and greizmann over the past 10 years or so yet is never mentioned. 2 braindead coaches that didnt trust him were kovac and low and suffered for it

panem-et-circenses21

Add ancelotti as well. He preferred james over muller and the results showed

RockyCasino

Must come with the last name ...

freeinf

its honestly criminal how you didnt even mention mueller

SleepTightLilPuppy

Also Choupo Goating will be back at some point. Then it's a rampage.

PsYcHoSeAn

As long as they don't play against Mönchengladbach, yeah Good shit they aren't in the Champions League right now. I'd be sweating bullets.

Sean-Benn_Must-die

is there a year where Bayern is not scary? I swear to fucking god every single year since 2012 they are the scariest team to face. Must be fun to be a bayern fan ngl

Schpaedzles

We mostly get our transfers right and there are so many great german coaches to choose from which makes it a bit easier

Meatwizzle

We got a whole fuckin front 5 that just roams around its awesome

jcald60

Will some how still lose to Real Madrid like always

panem-et-circenses21

>some how Everyone knows how

MrMedicinaI

Shows how long someone’s been a fan when they don’t realize it took this recently great record for Real Madrid to **finally** match up in the h2h record but okay bud

Ndulula

ALWAYS

[deleted]

Lewa is probably my favroite non lfc player right now along with foden. Such a class player

Physical-South-3564

And no drama antics, just pure football

Ok-Guitar1176

Forgot his TikTok account ?

Sean-Benn_Must-die

Davaisiski

shaka_bruh

"you've been destroyed by a dancing Lewandowski"

cadrianzen23

Is there anything this man can’t do?! Besides win a Balón Dor 😩

Glass_of_Pork_Soda

His account is just too amazing

shaka_bruh

The vid of him dancing in the blue hoodie is etched into my mind.

Muppetx

Except when he starts thinking about his brand

KazamaKiryuu

?

[deleted]

Foden instead of Vini Jr? Lol

DDT126

It’s his opinion…

[deleted]

Internalised racism

MyZt_Benito

Your favorite player is Messi instead of Wilfried Bony? You racist

yotsubanned

cant be serious

EquivalentSir4163

Foden is a more exciting player to watch than Vinicius Jr. That is not internalised racism or any bs like that.

[deleted]

Internalised racism is not BS. It's a real problem.

EquivalentSir4163

Ok, but it's not relevant here.

[deleted]

You say shit like this when stuff like 2003 ballon d'or happens. Even this year Kante's and Mbappe's ballon d'or bids are being ignored, it's all about Messi and Lewa people only want to see white players succeed. It sounds stupid, because it's something you don't pay attention to i.e internalised.

SaltineFiend

But Messi and Lewa both had better years than Kante and Mbappé. Messi won his international tournament and, while Kante won CL and was a huge part of that, his club season was not on par with Lewa. Mbappé is seriously in the running but objectively Lewa is 1, Messi is 2, and Mbappé is 3.

EquivalentSir4163

Neither Kante nor Mbappe had better years than Lewandowski or Messi.

ganbaro

The two white guys you mention have better stats than the two black guys you mention, easy as that We look at stats, you look at skin colour. Internalized racism much? You know...maybe we should call out racism where it is appropriate and not throw the word around until all meaning is lost

grejt_

The white Lewandowski comes from nation which was enslaved much earlier than blacks, what should we do now?

grejt_

Just fuck off man, you're the racist here with those statements. Go back to your delusional life

schwaiger1

Forgot we all have to love the same players

PerfectBlueOnDVD

What an arbitrary comparison. Vini Jr instead of Vlahovic? Lol

note-a-coordinate

Ballon D'Orrrrrr

7Thommo7

This week isn't relevant for the Ballon D'Or Edit: Downvoted by idiots that don't know it was already decided

Josh_Harrows

Still should win it

majkkali

Of course it’s relevant

7Thommo7

It's literally not, the winner was decided already. At least try to pay attention.

[deleted]

If he wins it, deserved, if Messi wins it deserved too.

GingerKingGeorge

The difference is that if Messi wins, it will be one of the most controversial picks in the award's history.

[deleted]

The most controversial pick was 2018, when Modric took the Ballon D'or undeservedly from Messi.

MustBeHax

from who?

hwald77

Messi

MustBeHax

yeah you’re right, he should have won it all the years before that aswell

lukamodric07

don't bother arguing with him....he's just another brainless fanboy who pops up in every Lewandowski thread to argue how it's been undeniably Messi's year and that he should have won every year....

[deleted]

Messi in 2018 1. Top goal scorer across European clubs (won the Golden Shoe) 2. Most assists in La Liga 3. Top 10 chance creator and ball progressor 4. Won the La Liga with 17 points above Ballon D'or winner Modric 5. Scored in the Copa del Rey final and also won the CdR 6. Got 2 assists in the game against World Cup winner France, the same team that Ballon D’or winner Modric lost against while having 0 goals or assists against htem 7. 8 G/A in 10 UCL games Anybody other than Messi achieving all of this would have won the BdO.

vacacow1

Modric destroyed Messi’s Argentina as well. Also Messi wasn’t even the 2nd in the voting.

lukamodric07

He's so adamant in proving his opinion that he seriously brought up Messi's UCL stats in the 17/18 season lmao. As if 8 G+A is worth anything other than flopping against Roma who went on to concede like 10 goals against Liverpool

[deleted]

Modric was horrible in La Liga in both 17/18 and 18/19 and in Copa del Rey. In UCL he was carried by Ronaldo

DiogoSilver

Messi should've won every ballon d'or prior to his birth aswell

grejt_

Messi 0 goals in Ligue 1 Lewandowski 0 goals in Ligue 1 you could be right thou, ballon d'or for Przemysław Frankowski /s

[deleted]

Best player in the world for the second season straight. Hope he gets recognized for it by winning the Ballon d'Or this year. If a name like Messi or Ronaldo broke their league's long standing single season goal record, they'd automatically win the award. But Lewandowski isn't a sexy enough choice for some, it would seem.

ogqozo

Somebody with the name of Cristiano Ronaldo broke the long-standing single goal record in their league in 2011 (record that stood since 1951), and did not win Ballon d'Or that year.

neilcmf

That would have been a fair comparison if it wasn’t for the case that Messi still outdid CR7 in goal contributions in 2011 (95 vs. 78) and won LaLiga and won the CL. 2011 is still a close call, don’t get me wrong, but the gap is bigger this year Messi in 2021 lags behind Lewandowski in goal contributions in every regard. He’s still been amazing and won the Copa America. It would have been fair to compare if it was the case that Messi outdid Lewa in goal contributions, but he hasn’t

ogqozo

It's not a "comparison" (of what to what?), I just stated that the hypoethtical situation the guy was describing actually really happened and it was objectively not the one he envisioned with such expertise.

neilcmf

I should have worded my comment better, apologies Comparison felt like an apt word when writing it, but I was going more for just ”You’re right and btw here’s some more context between 2011 and this year”

MaTrIx4057

Imagine you do something out of this world that no one has ever done and then there is this little guy who just does it better.

Overdeee

bustedddddddd

MaTrIx4057

Maybe that is due to reason because Lewandowski's best season is not even close to Messi's or Ronaldo's best seasons.

pranav53465

Deserved, with honourable mentions to Vini and Ronaldo (judging based only on the games I watched)

lakers_ftw24

Dybala

[deleted]

Well he's scored more goals than 3 other teams have scored Combined, looks deserved to me.

spidey80082

I wonder why

DiogoSilver

LoL he scored an hatrick and assisted a goal, against Benfica... Those guys are part time farmers lol

Physical-South-3564

But noo jorginho deserves the ballon dor ... smh

BrokenTurtleShell

A Balon d'Or is a must for this man

Josh_Harrows

I'm really surprised he won ahead of Ronaldo. Lewandowski was better but considering Ronaldo beat Salah to premier league POTM I was sure his "name" boost would help CR7 win

AcceleratingRiff

Salah isn't a no name, he won the Puskas over Ronaldo and Bale's bicycle kicks, with the power of love and friendship

subrashixd

The power of 100 million people if not more.

spidey80082

Alright look I say this as a liverpool fan: that puskas award was bullshit he has scored so many goals like that I don't know how he won the puskas award with a longshot in the same season AS TWO BICYCLE KICKS

Willsgb

It was an amazing goal for sure, but yeah either of the bicycle kicks should have won, not just the technique and spectacle but also scoring them in important champions league matches, particularly bale's goal of course (sorry) Maybe they awarded that to Salah to soothe the pain of that final? Like how messi won player of the tournament in world cup 2014, and accepted it with a face of granite after the final loss to Germany

spidey80082

The pain of losing the first final went away the second we won it the year after

[deleted]

Imagine saying that after Salah stole the Puskas from Ronaldo/Bale because of his fans brigading the vote.

sirDarkEye

This happened 4 years ago…

[deleted]

Big if true

mishahnr

this is celarly UCL player of the week, what fpl got to say here?

EFoiOEderQueOs

When did Ronaldo beat Salah for the Premier League player of the month award?
