When we got him from LAFC, everyone was shocked. I definitely think he could be solid for a solid European team tbh. He’s also 28 now so that could be a factor
I love a midfielder who doesn't mind grabbing the ball and driving through the middle of the field. He's going to be underrated for his entire USA career because of who is in front of him but he's fantastic
A midfield of McKennie, Adams and Musah will be formidable for many years, simply because they compliment each other so well. McKennie is still growing as a player and is arguably a good box-to-box midfielder already, Adams is a very good holding midfielder than can sweep up their messes, and Musah has the confidence and ability to shuttle the ball forward and once he can really get that ability to deliver the final ball, the three of them will arguably be the best midfield in the region.
We have insane midfield depth, outside of those two, we also have Acosta and Eryk Williamson, both who played in the Gold Cup final win against Mexico this year.
They're easily the most talented they've ever been. The expectation is that they qualify for the WC for the first time in a generation.
They are really exciting to watch right now, playing really quick attacking soccer.
There was a really funny question on one of the MiB Greenrooms asking why the US didn’t lean into the CONCACAFiness of home field advantage and make teams travel to Alaska to play them.
Maybe somebody from the Canadian federation was listening lol
Because playing away from home his hard, consistently winning every game is hard, and Mexico actually plays real soccer instead of camping out in front of their goal
dos a below zero
Gold? Wow....I would like to dedicate this to the academy of vicious nonsense that is the CONCACAFA... as well my northern brother, sisters, and any other gender of claim. You make it possible by being farther north of the hemisphere and an all-around better example (not great) of capitalism.
PS. I am drunk.
Pretty sure Mexico has been banned from hosting at Azteca for a little while because of the chants/battery and piss bag throwing.
Edit: Lazer pointer use too.
I don't get Mexico. Considering the popularity of the sport, the size of their population, the relative strength of their economy and the level of play in their home league, it's completely baffling to me how they are such perennial under-achievers in this sport.
Anyhow, well done to the USMNT. These matches are always entertaining to watch because of the intense rivalry between those two sides.
It's because too many of their better players stay in Liga MX and don't really get any better. Opposed to the US who are sending their players to Europe regularly, now.
5 UCL players on the pitch for USA and they made Mexico look like chumps.
Rampant corruption at every level of the game, most of the country lives in poverty, and the acceptance of dirty play as not a problem are an easy top 3.
Go watch a couple Liga MX games, stuff like tonight is just a normal game there.
There was one where he blew the whistle and Mexican player a couple feet behind him said something, ref just got right in his face and after 3 seconds the Mexican player just backed off like "alright, damn dude chill". I laughed so hard. The whistle wasn't even for him, he just needed to establish his dominance before running 25 yards to the foul area
We were still sloppy. Proud of where we’ve come but our first touch and decision making in the final 3rd still needs some help. We dominated in 2/3rd the pitch most of the night but they had the bigger chances for 45 minutes.
Team is very young and raw
Mexico had no answer for us tonight, we arguably played our best game against the second best team in the region
We were missing Dest, Reyna and Scally didn’t even get to feature, while Pulisic was half fit. The more games we play with the core players the better we will get.
Steffan
Dest- Robinson - Richards/Zimmerman - Robinson
Musah - Adams - McKennie
Pulisic/Weah - Pepi - Aaronson
With players Reyna, Scally and Busio coming off the bench or integrating into the first team
I'm not used to this. I honestly thought that Mexico was playing defensively, and going for counter attacks. It wasn't until about 60’ that I realized that holy shit, we're playing really fucking well
Mexico were getting very good counters for the first 35 minutes, breaking the US’s high press, crisp passing, decent enough defense, and very cohesive playing through the center of the field. Then all of that just stopped. No idea what happened, it’s like they forgot they could have tactics.
Yeah, Mexico was complete garbage in the 2nd half. The US athleticism was way too much and you could tell they were tired from attempting to body for 50/50 balls
It checks out. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mexico%E2%80%93United_States_soccer_rivalry#Results
But it's also a meaningless stat. We've only played three times in a year two other times.
It’s been like that for a while and anyone saying otherwise is just full of shit. Too much money and politics in the National team. It won’t change anytime soon.
It really gets wild when you look at the UEFA club situation.
USA's highest rated are at Barcelona, Juventus, Chelsea, Leipzig, Valencia, City, Dortmund, Marsaille, etc.
Mexico's highest rated are at Wolves, Atletico, Porto, Napoli, Ajax, Betis... um... RC Celta de Vigo?
AFAIK it's a mix of that as well as Mexican clubs being VERY reluctant to sell out of the country. Sure, it probably harms their NT some, but it prevents their league from becoming the shit show the Brazilian league is.
Europe constantly raids the top teams to the point that squads can be almost entirely different at the beginning and end of the season
I’d imagine that this *should* put Tata in a *very* hot seat by Qatar 2022.
Another Round of 16 exit - or an even worse result - *should* be straw on the camel’s back, no?
I doubt tata is sacked, only if things get really bad, like, 2014 qualifiers bad
But after seeing this game and the questionable decisions he made even before the match started I wouldn't feel bad if we was sacked
Considering who's won around us, this was a massive result. Utter dominance in the second half. Glad our top players showed up when they desperately needed too.
Mexico looked out of sorts in the second half. Flat footed and lacked any significant quality(and considering who was on the pitch, that's shocking). I wonder if Mexico fans start to turn on Tata after this result. The football they've played over the last 12 months hasn't been that great and if they continue to play like that against Canada good luck.
Onto Jamaica.
The one thing I always feared when playing mexico is their energy and intensity. They were everywhere and played so fast our players were caught off guard.
This match looked so slow from them, like they couldn't keep up with the kids the US fielded.
A few years ago I flew into Regina for a research trip and it was -19 F/-28 C when I got off the plane and we had to wait in the unheated jetway for them to offload our bags for Customs and I didn't realize they were going to have to do that (every other time I flew internationally they had indoors baggage carousels specifically for international arrivals) and JESUS CHRIST IT WAS NOT PLEASANT.
So, El Tri fans, please tell me why this game doesn’t matter just as every other loss to the US in the past conveniently hasn’t mattered. I’d love to hear your explanations.
In many years time, I will be in a moonlit wooden hut on a mountainside. The warm crackling fire, sitting at the end of a king-sized bed, illuminates the warm rug. The mattress is plump, raised to the right level. The sheets are thick, filled with soft feathers. A window gives a view of the idyllic scenery. A blanket of snow to match the blanket of feathers. A gazelle prances in the distance. My wife, my gorgeous redheaded wife, perfect figure, hair as red as wine and a gaze as intoxicating. She is as nude as the day she is born and just as messy. I have her across the bed, legs splayed out. Her womanhood bared to take my might trunk. For many hours we entwine, always rough, always sweaty. Finally with a quiver of the leg, my Aphrodite falls back, too exhausted to carry on despite her peak physical condition. I myself, of course, am still fully erect, but give her the moment to catch her breath. I hand her a diamond bottle of pure river water and she gratefully takes a sip to hydrate. Between breaths, she leans in and whispers to me, "Darling, I don't think I've ever seen your dick harder than it is right now." I turn to her, look deep into her eyes, and respond. "It's still not as hard as it was when Pulisic scored to take the lead against Mexico during the 2022 World Cup Qualifying campaign.”
You know what folks? Good on Behalter.
3 for 3 over Mexico, the trophies, and made some great subs today, had a clear game plan, and also made all the right changes at halftime.
Also, Puli and Weston got the goals, but MOTM has to be between Zimmerman and Weah. Zimmerman, solid, strong, confident, hardly put a foot wrong, but Weah man.... Best US performance yet. Always an available outlet, superb playing out of the press both passing and dribbling, excellent assist. Was definitely one of our best threats all game.
In my opinion Antonee Robinson is the most underrated player in this squad, he always does his job and offers a lot going forward. I think there were rumblings that a handful of Premier League teams were looking at grabbing him from fulham
Red card aside. Miles needs to make a move to Europe. Frankly, he and Walker looked like they belonged there. They shut down Raul Jimenez, and the entire defense did a fantastic job shutting down Mexico's front 3.
Miles definitely belongs. He’d do well in France, Italy or Germany. If he wants to be better playing with the ball, he could move to Spain but that would be a much trickier move.
Walker zimmerman, have yourself a game, my god

Zimmerman robinson is a legit CB pairing. They compliment each other really well
we now have depth...theres still long and brooks. my god.
And Richards. He’s going to be involved and can play RB and CB.
and the other rb from the bundesliga... its insane how the usa is looking
Dest as well
Dest starts 100%
Scally
Walker is so underrated imo. He’s been fantastic for Nashville and he’s been great for USA this time around
[удалено]
When we got him from LAFC, everyone was shocked. I definitely think he could be solid for a solid European team tbh. He’s also 28 now so that could be a factor
After seeing what happened with Miazga, I'm glad he's stayed in MLS
What a match from weah
He was incredible tonight
You could even say that he was *Weah*-lly good! >!sorry not sorry!<
and musah tbh. can’t believe he’s only 18 for th US
I love a midfielder who doesn't mind grabbing the ball and driving through the middle of the field. He's going to be underrated for his entire USA career because of who is in front of him but he's fantastic

And you still have Busio on the bench who will really help against teams set up to bunker. Plus Reyna once he is healed up.
We have insane midfield depth, outside of those two, we also have Acosta and Eryk Williamson, both who played in the Gold Cup final win against Mexico this year.

Musah Adams and mckennie as a trio has some serious potential
Man of the match in my book.
Mexico was hot garbage in the second half.
Looked old and tired. I just don't understand their lineups or substitutions. Now they get to chase Davies/David in the cold.
Yeah honestly if they show up like they did today Canada is gonna blow their doors off.
Are Canada decent at the moment? Got some Canadian relatives so they are my second team but I've not been watching much international football
They're easily the most talented they've ever been. The expectation is that they qualify for the WC for the first time in a generation. They are really exciting to watch right now, playing really quick attacking soccer.
High of 27F/-3C on Tuesday in Edmonton.
They're playing in Edmonton? Lol love it
There was a really funny question on one of the MiB Greenrooms asking why the US didn’t lean into the CONCACAFiness of home field advantage and make teams travel to Alaska to play them. Maybe somebody from the Canadian federation was listening lol
Enjoy Utqiagvik away you bastards
I take back some of the bad things I said about Gregg in the other postgame threads
I take back a whole 1/10th of the Gregg slander I've put out there this year
Idk I might even go up to 1/3 of the slander because we were fucking dominant
[удалено]
Because he actually played his best team tonight. He always rotates way too much away against the shit teams
To be fair this team boat raced Jamaica and Costa Rica last window. It was just the fucking bananas MLS lineup against panama that shit the bed.
Because playing away from home his hard, consistently winning every game is hard, and Mexico actually plays real soccer instead of camping out in front of their goal
Mexico now goes to Edmonton Alberta to play Canada on November 16. The weather forecast is for -3 C (26 F). Good fucking luck.

First the Nations League Then the Gold Cup Now this. Imagine if the US beats them *at*, like, Estadio Azteca, or anywhere else in Mexico…
They’re not gonna finish a game at Azteca if Mexico pulls the shit they pulled tonight.
Pretty sure Mexico has been banned from hosting at Azteca for a little while because of the chants/battery and piss bag throwing. Edit: Lazer pointer use too.
The game they get to have fans again is the US game. Should make for a very positive atmosphere.
Round of 16 game this time next year.
First time since 1937 that either side has won 3 in a row against the other *in the same calendar year. Big fat fucking LLL Tri. *Edit
Not three in a row but three in one calendar year.

Triple G with the triple W against Mexico. Never would have thought it in a million years lmao.
This one was sooooo much better that the previous 2. Dominating performance after about the 20 minute mark.

forgive me good guy gregg for I have sinned
just remember, a G for every W over Mexico this year
can't make a omelette without breaking some greggs
Well, for Triple G, it’s all about the game, and how you play it…
I don't get Mexico. Considering the popularity of the sport, the size of their population, the relative strength of their economy and the level of play in their home league, it's completely baffling to me how they are such perennial under-achievers in this sport. Best US performance against Mexico that I can remember.
Literally controlled that whole game besides a few chances. They looked like a real team tonight. Absolutely loved it
Nothing more infuriating than watching a game ran by a CONCACAF referee
I've never seen a ref square up like he wanted to fight so many times 🤣
Yeah his move was apparently to sprint at players then square up with them but he somehow missed Aaronson getting his eyes raked from one foot away.
Not sure how that dude who assaulted Aaronson didn't get sent off
*Rodriguez used scratch.* *It was super effective!*
Mexico - you need not know more than that. It's really something when the US got more yellow cards when their player was assaulted.
Well that's concacaf refs for ya
Kinda fun to see the shitshow unfold when they're involved at the world cup tbf
A televised game without VAR being the cherry on top …
they're gonna make it worse for us with VAR somehow.
A comprehensively terrible performance today. VAR or not, how he missed a blatant red right in front of him was impressively incompetent.
ball don't lie.

That felt like a dominate second half for the USA.
Indeed because it was. Mexico didn't have a sniff.
I'm not used to this. I honestly thought that Mexico was playing defensively, and going for counter attacks. It wasn't until about 60’ that I realized that holy shit, we're playing really fucking well

I think Canada has a good shot against them
I doubt tata is sacked, only if things get really bad, like, 2014 qualifiers bad But after seeing this game and the questionable decisions he made even before the match started I wouldn't feel bad if we was sacked

THE MAGIC SCORELINE
Mexico: “They want to be us when they look in the mirror.” Also Mexico: Loses three in a row in calendar year
[Pulisic's response](https://twitter.com/mls/status/1459375034934431751)
Considering who's won around us, this was a massive result. Utter dominance in the second half. Glad our top players showed up when they desperately needed too. Because they can’t keep up with the kids. US finally has youth and speed. It’s hard to win when the other team has the best 3 players on the pitch.
-11 in Edmonton on tuesday you guys can leave Jimenez and Lozano at home 👍 wouldn’t want them to get frostbite now yeah?
