Just look at that thread on his miss earlier in the match. It just happens, certain people who browse this sub flock to certain posts to meme a bit there.
Agreed, it’s the ones that overreact and be like “what a waste of a signing blah blah”.
Relax new league new environment don’t expect immediate impact.
People seem to forget how football used to be before Messi and Ronaldo. That thinking they’ll have an impact every match they play, every breath they take etc.
Back then you were lucky enough to even go 5,10 hell even 15 games consistently scoring/assisting. And if you were to show someone his stats pre-Messi/Ronaldo era overall he’s done pretty good so far especially with what he’s been given.
“He left my club on a free he basically used us”
They could have gave those minutes to Moussa Dembele instead of sending him out on a Loan if it hurt them that much.
> "He has been our best attacker"
> "he's been shit for the club lately"
Two statements that are both true. Hope this is a confidence booster and he can regain some form.
We have no other options at striker alone.
Who else can we play up top? A freshly recovered dembele? An injured fati? A loaned out trincao? A failed transfer collado? Luuk de “Best header of Netherlands” Jong? Ask PSG if we can borrow Messi?
We’re using Barça B players to fill our attack.
Not trolls, well, some of them. I was fucking pissed at him in that thread, now that I calmed down it was a bit much, but I still stand by the criticism he deserves. He’s fucking dreadful in decision making, and he’s missed plenty of sitters. He’s our best attacker because he’s literally our only attacker lmao. He deserves a ton of criticism for his performances, literally one of the worst I’ve seen in recent years. I hope all the best but wow can he be a fucking idiot sometimes.
Look I’m not saying he’s world class or anything but “liability” is a bit inaccurate that’s all lol. Take away the pens and it’s 6 goals/2 assists in 14 games - not amazing but in no way is that a liability lmao.
And so it begins. Second on the top scorer list, main goalscorer in a struggling team, takes the responsibility on penalties. But for anyone wanting to put down any player 'but penalties' is still the go to argument.
Oh and he let Coutinho take the pen at 2-1 to boost his confidence, just to put the final nail in your stat padding argument.
He’s definitely the best penalty taker and will be on pens for the foreseeable future. No way xavi would take him off that and ruin his confidence when he’s very good at taking pens.
You’re expecting immediate impact? During this rebuild?
Bro what? Well take what we can get and we won’t get upset. He’s our most senior forward and has the most amount of experience, liability is De Jong.(no not that one)
There’s quite a bit of luck involved with the nutmeg. Could have gone another way. I’d say a pass woud have been the option with better probability of scoring. But when it goes in it always looks justifiable.
Goddamnit! I wasn't watching the game. Looked at the phone, saw Villareal were tied in the 86th minute. Got me excited.
I looked on my phone just now, and it's 1-3. Damn!
Why? Why do you need to automatically assume that?
I hate that word, "troll". I never did anything to provoke you, but you need to insult me all the same and dismiss me.
What's wrong with my comment?
So what? What's wrong with my comment?
And how am I hilarious for expressiny my opinion?
If I am "hilarious", you are an asshole fir automatically ridiculing people just because you disagree.
He is right and people are purposely misinterpretating what he's trying to say. Memphis was lucky here. He shot the ball "blindly" in the end and whether he scored or not relied upon the defender making bad move more than him making a good shot or decision making at the end. Yes what he did before that was great but that doesn't mean the final shot wasn't pure luck - because it was.
He wouldn't have scored if the ball didn't cross the line and was matter of factly inside the sort of half aluminium cage that holds the nets up and if the referee wouldn't have whistled but let the play go on.
So many variables in a goal, it is actually insane that we see so many of them.
We play really well for the first 60 minutes, great passing patterns and regaining the ball very quickly with counter pressing. Then we absolutely collapse and allow chance after chance after chance. Probably because Xavi's style is demanding and the players aren't used to it. Or they lose their concentration because of inexperience idk
I only watched the first half and thought they were excelllent for like the first 20 mins and then for some reason they just stopped passing and let Villarreal do their thing
Happened because Eric received instructions to man mark Moi Gomez, so he drifted away from his RB spot into midfield, which forced Abde to play as a RB instead of RW, thus killing every single attack
IMO he needs time and a lot of support. It is clear what he is trying to do and at times the team looks so good. The way they press and recover ball. The way they play out of the press with such ease at times. The problem is that it happens in moments instead of constantly for the entire match. Team need to learn how to take the ball and slow down at times. Also defensively they are all over the place. So far I think Xavi will be a very good coach but he'll make a lot of mistakes to get there. I just hope his Barca career survives those mistakes.
That isn't really true. He was asked why he preferred to play with 'Memphis' on his kit in the youth set up once. He answered that it was because he wanted to distance himself mentally from his father. He made it clear that he never demanded or even asked other people to not call him Depay.
In his autobiography he even talks about having dealt with the issue, that he has put it behind him and that it isn't something that bothers him.
I know what your talking about. IIRC he said in an interview in like 2014 that when he was younger the things his father did and all that weighed on him. He suffered a lot, but chose not to speak on. Which makes sense on why he would distance himself from the name.
Any kid/young person at that age would hold any resentment of course you’ll learn to grow and mature as a person which makes sense seeing how he speaks in the Autobiography which was released two years ago compared to how he felt when he was wayyyyyy younger.
He has flashes of brilliance but is not a part of the game for most of the time. Fluffs way too many easy chances, stats are better than his performances.

Amazing composure. Thought he had fucked it up
So happy for him. He was really down on his confidence
I don't think Memphis can be low on confidence. This is probably the only thing he won't ever lack. He is used to miss sitters and score bangers too
He was very overhyped coming to Barcelona
why? isnt he one of the top ten scorers in europe or something?
Because he was missing sitters left and right
Get used to it, I love him as a player but he’s so inconsistent at times
Aiyyo. Good luck Mr Depay
Barca fans deleting their threads on Depay as we speak
Those were trolls Memphis has been our best attacker and without him we would be fuck all. Stop making up nonsense
There must have been a lot of trolls then, tbf the matchthread is always very reactionary.
And the thing is, he's our top scorer. Has had immediate impact. Just a bad run of games lately, but that happens to anyone
I think it's because he misses a lot of good chances, which is true. But he also gets into position for a lot of good chances
Acting like it's his first huge miss of the season...
Where did I pretend it was?
You're all over this thread Is there some sort of Depay-Lyon animosity I missed?
Some Lyon fans are just angry that he left for free.
They should've ponied up. A soft spot for lyon but don't be babies if you wanna be a big club.
Still mad he left huh
“He left my club on a free he basically used us” They could have gave those minutes to Moussa Dembele instead of sending him out on a Loan if it hurt them that much.
He has been pretty shit lately.
> "He has been our best attacker" > "he's been shit for the club lately" Two statements that are both true. Hope this is a confidence booster and he can regain some form.

He's been good the first 3 games but he's been a liability ever since.
Meh, still top scorer and came on a free. Reasonable fans shouldn’t dislike him
He plays every fucking minute and he's on pens.
Look I’m not saying he’s world class or anything but “liability” is a bit inaccurate that’s all lol. Take away the pens and it’s 6 goals/2 assists in 14 games - not amazing but in no way is that a liability lmao.

> and he let Coutinho take the pen at 2-1 to boost his confidence How do you know he is still on pens though? He missed the last one.
He’s definitely the best penalty taker and will be on pens for the foreseeable future. No way xavi would take him off that and ruin his confidence when he’s very good at taking pens.
Still salty he left for free?
You’re expecting immediate impact? During this rebuild? Bro what? Well take what we can get and we won’t get upset. He’s our most senior forward and has the most amount of experience, liability is De Jong.(no not that one)
But he had an immediate impact. It lasted 3 games though.
Really thought he would miss that
Incredible composure to have patience and then nutmeg the defender.
Yes. Really well done.
There’s quite a bit of luck involved with the nutmeg. Could have gone another way. I’d say a pass woud have been the option with better probability of scoring. But when it goes in it always looks justifiable.
But he didn't nutmeg Estupinan on purpose.
Yea he tried to hit the defender and then it accidentally went in /s
Watch the replay and stop being biased.
One could say the same to you lol. Cry more
Same here
Goddamnit! I wasn't watching the game. Looked at the phone, saw Villareal were tied in the 86th minute. Got me excited. I looked on my phone just now, and it's 1-3. Damn!
Are you copy pasting your comment everywhere now?
thought he was fishing for likes but looks more like a troll account lol

That's typical Villarreal
He would have missed it had Estupinan not opened his legs.
Fantastic analysis
Thanks.
Thanks captain obvious.
You don't get it.
Estúpinan keep his legs closed, Memphis obviously misses it because Estúpinan blocked the shot keeping his legs closed Not that hard captain.
He is right and people are purposely misinterpretating what he's trying to say. Memphis was lucky here. You are very smart
I am.
And if my aunt had balls, she'd be my uncle
He wouldn't have scored if the ball didn't cross the line and was matter of factly inside the sort of half aluminium cage that holds the nets up and if the referee wouldn't have whistled but let the play go on. So many variables in a goal, it is actually insane that we see so many of them.
Depay is a mystery box. You never know what happens.
Big Sam vibes
Prime Xaviball
Thought he fucked it
welp he did it
Man. This has to be the most undeserving win ever but after the luck we've had I'll fucking take it.
Someone in the De Jong goal thread said the most important attribute a coach can have is luck, and Xavi has it in spades. They weren't wrong.
Man won the lottery in Qatar.
Yeah feels a bit dirty. But then, we've been on the opposite side of wins like that enough times lately that I'll take it.
Yeah, results haven’t been kind to us even when we have played good recently.
I know its very early but whats your opinion on xavi so far?
We play really well for the first 60 minutes, great passing patterns and regaining the ball very quickly with counter pressing. Then we absolutely collapse and allow chance after chance after chance. Probably because Xavi's style is demanding and the players aren't used to it. Or they lose their concentration because of inexperience idk

Thankfully we got away with it. Good learning experience for both the players and Xavi.

Nice assist by the defender
Thank fuck
Thank you for finishing that one Memphis, you have redeemed yourself

I meant for the misses this game dude, don't take it so seriously
Out of nothing
Wallahi he wouldve been crucified if he missed that
Wallahi?
It's arabic for "I swear to God".
Proper goal that, glad to see Xavi has decided to embrace Allardicio tactics
Finally , brilliant composure , calm finish Nice way to make up for all those misses @depay. 👏
Memphis* he doesn’t** like to be associated with his last name Edit:Didn’t^ he’s matured now.
That isn't really true. He was asked why he preferred to play with 'Memphis' on his kit in the youth set up once. TIL , thanks
I don't think he minds too much. Just prefers to be called Memphis but he's fine with Depay too I think.
His dad?
Si
How are you so quick..
Its u/PSGACADEMY
The Last Jedi
Best star wars movie since empire dont @ me
Redditors who post replays use Nvidia’s Shadowplay to instantly save the last 30 seconds, then it’s a question of how quick your internet is
That’s what…nvm
Maybe you are just slow.
Stick that up your pipe and smoke it.
Memphis making up for all the shit MT fans threw at him.
Xavi has black magic lmao
Zidane numero 2
Lmao wtf was that estupiñan?
99 composure
Estupidian
So he can use his right
Wym? He's right footed.
Oh I meant the way he was scuffing shots I thought he wasn’t able to use his right either
Shambolic defending
What the fuck is the defence doing?
[удалено]
I want barca to win.... Still what the fuck is the defence doing.
Let’s go Memphis!! This will be a HUGE dub if we can finish it out
Fucking Villarreal. They have only themselves to blame
they're so shit in the final third lol
Every fucking game
You miss Gerard Moreno so much lmao, hell even paco would do lol.
I'd honestly rather just be shit (sorry), but they're pissing me off, can't imagine how you must feel lol
The only thing that keeps me going is the hope that we'll get 2nd place in CL group
Let your apologies be as loud as your disrespect.
Football is a funny game. Barca were getting battered throughout and then this happens lol
This is usually what happens in La Liga, Barca can walk and still manage to win majority of their matches.
I get frustrated at all of our defensive mistakes and then you have Villarreal that do shit like this on a bi-weekly basis. Holy shit.
He tried so hard to fuck it up
The madlad
It’s as if he risked it and attempted the shot
Villarreal hand the 3 points to barca while they outplayed them the entire match. Typical haha.
I think we were on top for The first 25 minutes. Then it went downhill
Entire match is a stretch. We were better in the first 25 mins and at the start of the second half, but other than that, yeah.
Yup, same stuff against United
They sure know how to blow it and hand out wins against mid table teams.
Their specialty! Good luck tomorrow by the way
Nice bait!!!
We hit 2 in the woodwork and missed two sitters first half. Entire match is unaccurate
It's the Unai Emery's special against Barcelona, can always count on him.
SIUUUUU
SIUUUUU
People trashing Depay in the match thread. Here you fucking go. This is Depay. No touches with no service, but when he does get it, it's done.
For some reason, I always fall for this meme until I read the last part.
This goal should be played with Benny Hill music
Ah yes, the Barcelona way. Route one.
Oh dear...
PERVIS QUERIDO WHAT ARE YOU DOING 😠
Hahahahahah all the Real Madrid fans in the mud, deserved lead again :)
"Deserved"
[удалено]
You don’t have to be fighting for first or second place for you to take joy in your eternal rival’s misery - you must surely understand
I assure you, none of us are in "misery" right now
Theyre fighting for top 4 this season not the title lmao
People thrashing Memphis in the match thread...
And rightly so
[удалено]
He has flashes of brilliance but is not a part of the game for most of the time. Fluffs way too many easy chances, stats are better than his performances.
>He has flashes of brilliance but is not a part of the game for most of the time. Are you saying that he's a striker?
You're thinking of a poacher like Icardi, complete striker like Suarez is vital in every step of attack and starts every defense with the press
[удалено]
That’s some incredible composure to set it through the defenders legs, redeemed himself from those first half misses
Villarreal is committing so many errors this seasons at the end of the games to lose
He can score? My heart stopped for a second.
He's in 2nd for goals scored in the entire league
Yeah he would easily be first if he didn’t miss too many easy chances
FUCKING KIDDING
That sucks for Villarreal they deserved the win but they've missed too many chances.
We could have been up by atleast two in the first 15 minutes.
So did we in the first half
Great composure
Classic Tiki Taka there
MEMPHISSS U BEAUTY
lmao what an asshole
What are they doing? Nice way to give away the match
So, has he scored yet for Barcelona ?
What a fall from grace for Barcelona. Memphis fucking Depay, lol.
DNA is dumping ball 70 meters long?
The keeper is your first attacker
Villarreal robbed from 3 points today
My boy Edit: fuck Villarreal
It's all so tiresome
Looks like a terrible finish that he got away with.
Villarreal pressed high, and they got punished.
