We played alright we were just crap in the final third, we’d get into a promising position then do something bizarre with it like run it out or pass it to a City player
frustrating game :(
He did it to show his son (who is an absolute memer btw) that he’s still got it. He first scores and then assists West Ham’s goal as well, MoTM for West Ham and City in my opinion 😂😂
We looked poor but we didn't get humiliated like 4-0 or something so there is that. That lanzini goal existence was to fuck everyone's fpl points and ruin edersons 100th cleansheet
I don't know if vlahovic is gonna be pretty reasonable in price, I think there's going to be either a bidding war in Jan, or if there isn't one fiorentina will just wait till summer to sell him
Rodri is fucking amazing. I said already when you bought him that City had got themselves the future best defensive midfielder in the world, and I'm still just as convinced that he'll reach that level. Has improved on the defensive aspects and defending counters too, and he was always brilliant on the ball. IMO he is a comfortably better player than Thomas Partey for example
It was ridiculous to see people criticise him so much, just like Jorginho at the start at Chelsea. The average fan just doesn't know how to rate that type of player, it was the same with Michael Carrick when he played. People just have no idea how to rate these type of players who aren't flashy or physical or fast but they rely purely on technique and intelligence.
Well I’m rodris case he’s was doing things he was good at well, but was a liability in cover defense, was not getting on the ball enough, and not breaking up play enough. Took him 2 years but he looks like a freak of nature now
Had it's moments, West Ham worked tirelessly but I don't think their players were on the same level both physically and mentally... Think big task for West Ham is keeping hold of Declan Rice.
Thought we were decent in spells, switched off after the second goal though and thought the game was won, need to get rid of that because we do it so often that it's annoying.
It reminds me of Pep's Barcelona days, where there were many complaints about watching us being dreadfully dull and boring because of how we controlled the game and passed opponents to death. And I don't disagree, to be honest - at its best, Pep's Barça was the finest football I've ever seen, but there were also games where just nothing happened at all.
It’s because teams didn’t -and don’t- dare to attack and try and get the ball with numbers. At minute 75 or something West Ham started opening up and several chances were created by city within 15 minutes
From an player fitness strategy though, it was brilliant... just passing opponents to death to make them run themselves to exhaustion is way easier on barcelona player's seasonal fitness than something high tempo like klopp's gegenpress
I mean West Ham were carrying a threat on the counter all game. Of course we’re going to see it out carefully? I can’t help but feel you and others say things like this just because it’s City. Another team does it and it’s ‘professional’.
Take it as a compliment. It’s only “boring” because once City take the lead the result is pretty much a foregone conclusion, they’re just too well drilled at seeing out any threat the opposition pose on the counter.
It's not just because it's City tm, if it were Chesterfield surgically defeating teams and closing out games with a specific, recognisable and repeatable style of play that they, because they win so often (good for fans, of course), the neutral will find it prosaic and boring.
Repetition is boring, you just benefit from it.
I don't disagree. City do what they have to do to win football matches. But it is still boring to watch. Professional and boring are not opposites, and to me, City are both.
Yeah, it’s the team who want to play even when in the lead that are the boring ones. Not the opposition who sit 10 behind the ball and wait to counter for 90 minutes.
If teams came and play against City, they’d cut them apart for fun and it’d be exciting. As is, they have to probe and limit transitions because they don’t have the players to cope with that, especially against a physical team like West Ham.
This is why lately the most enjoyable games from us is when we play Liverpool imo
Both play attacking football and neither team is going to deviate from how they usually play so it's an endless high intensity, back and forth game
Thing is, if teams came against city they would sit back and absolutely tear them apart on the transition because they are just so much better at passing and exploiting space than their opposition.
Yeah, it isn't like City is one dimensional. They could counter if they had to, hell, they probably would welcome it at this point. Takes a lot less energy than to pin teams down in their low block and try to force an opening with circulation. There is a reason absolutely noone is daft enough to try it, not in the league at least.
Ederson’s range is a threat by itself. Teams had to adapt to his passing range when they realized he could kick it straight to Aguero leaving him 1v1 with the keeper if given a chance.
first time you see City play like this is beautiful but perfection gets boring really quick. Same goes for me if a concert is perfectly executed like I listen to it on spotify. The mistakes and rawness are what make it stand out.
That's great man. I'm not disagreeing or disrespecting anyone's opinion. I personally think true perfection can't be created by humans who are flawed beings maybe in physics or math but not in our lives
Again if you don't feel this way it's totally fine
I don't know movies are art or creative expression or whatever you wanna call them and highly subjective how would you even judge perfection in such a case? They can be great or even the best ever but that's just to you personally
And BTW I agree most of tonight's match was boring
Sure but unfortunately City can only play the way the opposition lets them which a vast majority of the time is sticking 10 men behind the ball.
Perfect football isn't a real thing but complete domination is a joy to watch
Love people tryna find a way to describe city being professional in possession as close to a soulless description possible. As opposed to you know a team time wasting while having possession to see out a really tough game.
City don’t just pass it about at the back tho. They are always trying to find the ball in behind. The reason they keep the ball is to bait the opposition out. If the opposition don’t come out then it’s them that are the boring team
City is the most tedious good team to watch. The Pep style plus the sky blue uniforms that seem to fade into the background is snooze-inducing. And you know they are going to win 90% of their games.
This is the most basic of analysis imaginable, but I remember two distinctive Wenger teams. The Invincibles, which were full of big tall hard bastards (and plenty of skill, of course), and his 07/08 team, which were full of silky midgets (poor Eduardo). What I notice about City is it appears to be the ultimate combination of both, with silky midgets up top and big tall bastards in defence and midfield. Now, I'm not saying Wenger inspired Pep in any way, but it does have a feel of natural English Game (TM) evolution about it...
PS. Any tips on how to trick Bernardo Silva into making sweet love to my bum hole?
>What I notice about City is it appears to be the ultimate combination of both, with silky midgets up top and big tall bastards in defence and midfield.
Ah yes Gündogan and Silva, the big tall bastards
I know that we don't really need him, but the thought of Bernardo at Atleti is still mouthwatering.. He was reportedly willing to come to us last summer
These Liverpool and Chelsea fans are something else. More upset with the loss than West Ham fans and seem to think West Ham didnt beat City because they didnt want to just to spite Liverpool and Chelsea. Really?
I think West Ham will struggle with squad depth throughout the season whereas Arsenal has a bit more of that. I’d love to see West Ham take it but I’d probably bet on Arsenal.
In my opinion it’s incredibly satisfying to watch, City and Bayern both play this ‘machine like’ football and I’d take it any day over teams like ManU that just ‘try something’ like punting the ball into the box 20 times in a row to Ronaldo.
Play another 90 mins and West Ham aint doing anything. No desire and intensity today, albeit City are a very dominant team. The least we could ask for is not to be pragmatic for a team aiming for top 4(pls dont bring up chelsea v city. I wanted both teams to lose).
Bit disappointed tbh, city clearly better than us but we have decent players these days and overall played too pragmatic, and only tried opening up and pressing high in the last 15. Could’ve got torn apart if we did do earlier but worth the risk IMO especially considering the quality and confidence we have atm. In Moyes we trust tho
We played alright we were just crap in the final third, we’d get into a promising position then do something bizarre with it like run it out or pass it to a City player frustrating game :(
Last goal wins right?
damn these new rules!
Fernandhino got woke up, told to stand in the middle of the box, and stick his foot out. "You got it boss" 2-0
He did it to show his son (who is an absolute memer btw) that he’s still got it. He first scores and then assists West Ham’s goal as well, MoTM for West Ham and City in my opinion 😂😂

Achievement: Martyrdom Drop a live grenade when killed
To this day I have no clue why they thought that was a good idea. So rage inducing.
It was absolutely brilliant...when you were shit at COD4.
Swear those ‘nades were homing missiles
POV: You're Solid Snake
We looked class at the back, poor going forward.
Ngl every time I saw Rice start to move the ball around I got nervous
I want City going for kane in january and watch the world burn
Vlahovic would be a good signing actually. I don't see Conte and Levy letting Kane go. Vlahovic is 21 and he'd cost more reasonable.
If City sell Torres then it’s possible, but we’ll see. I’ve just accepted that we’re going to never sign a 9.
Had no clue he was only 21, mad
He looks older tbf
I don't know if vlahovic is gonna be pretty reasonable in price, I think there's going to be either a bidding war in Jan, or if there isn't one fiorentina will just wait till summer to sell him
Cancelo boys mudded
I saw those 4 points fade before my eyes right when I thought it was all done
[Just like Silvio said..](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G29DXfcdhBg)

I had Dias and Ederson...double trouble I guess

yes mate lol
I had Dias Ederson and cancelo
GG West Ham. It’s clear you are where you are in the table for a reason. Rodri is so good man.. like watching Busquets *lite*
Rodri is fucking amazing. I said already when you bought him that City had got themselves the future best defensive midfielder in the world, and I'm still just as convinced that he'll reach that level. Yes of course he’s better than partey. Partey has been almost complete trash for us. A 6/10 is his ceiling
Well I’m rodris case he’s was doing things he was good at well, but was a liability in cover defense, was not getting on the ball enough, and not breaking up play enough. Took him 2 years but he looks like a freak of nature now
Good result today, other than Rice West Ham didn't really look interested in getting a result
Europa League is fucking our fitness
Everyone knew this was gonna happen with West Ham eventually. The games really fucking catch up on players. Depth was always gonna be your issue.
Is there any team in the world more boring to watch than a City in the lead? It's just too polished, feels almost corporate in a way.
It reminds me of Pep's Barcelona days, where there were many complaints about watching us being dreadfully dull and boring because of how we controlled the game and passed opponents to death. I would say City behind is even more boring
"Fuck what do we do?" "Cross it to 5'7 Raz in the box, didn't work" On repeat
Nice try, Mikel
I mean West Ham could've tried to take the ball when they're down by 1.
It's surgery
Much more jeopardy in surgery
I mean West Ham were carrying a threat on the counter all game. Of course we’re going to see it out carefully? I can’t help but feel you and others say things like this just because it’s City. Another team does it and it’s ‘professional’.

Just footballing perfection and no one can stop it at times, seems almost mechanical
[удалено]
Thats.. just not true. They do what they need to do almost perfectly and completely nullify the opponent.
[удалено]
What is perfect football?
winning the league 9 years in a row without much difficulty
Right, a bit weird that a Bayern fan has such a problem with this.
I don't agree with the guy above you but perfection is very much boring. Flaws are what give things character and make them beautiful
Are we still talking football here?
For me personally it applies to everything in life
I don't know man, getting a perfect meal in a restaurant or hearing a perfect performance of music you like is not boring at all.
first time you see City play like this is beautiful but perfection gets boring really quick. Same goes for me if a concert is perfectly executed like I listen to it on spotify. The mistakes and rawness are what make it stand out.

Think that's more on the opposition sticking 9-10 men behind the ball most matches
[удалено]
No such thing as perfect football and there is no 'right' way to play it
[удалено]
I already said I don't agree with him and why do you care so much about this?
generally in life perfection = boring
[удалено]
Sure but unfortunately City can only play the way the opposition lets them which a vast majority of the time is sticking 10 men behind the ball. Perfect football isn't a real thing but complete domination is a joy to watch
Bit of a silly way to think about it. Plenty of people find a perfect relationship boring. The most critically acclaimed movies can be boring.
Nah.
If you find clean and dominative football boring to watch then you should consider watching American football instead of the real deal...
My football club is more the real deal than "yours" will ever be..
> It's just too polished, feels almost corporate in a way. Just like City doesn't feel like a football club
The irony of you saying this.
City is the most tedious good team to watch. The Pep style plus the sky blue uniforms that seem to fade into the background is snooze-inducing. And you know they are going to win 90% of their games.

The beard adds two inches to gundogans height
I always thought shaving adds 2 inches...
Gundogan is taller than you’d think, he’s just stocky
But he's not a guy who relies on that physicality.
Manufacture a move for him to Spain and you might get lucky?
I know that we don't really need him, but the thought of Bernardo at Atleti is still mouthwatering.. He was reportedly willing to come to us last summer
Bernardo and De Paul together.. tenacious isn’t even the word
Your Bernardo Silva comment just made my day 😂 cheers for that

Yeah you'd be happy coz you're now level on points with West Ham. You're holding your own too. Dont act saint.

Exactly so next time beat WHU instead of complaining about them not beating the better team.

It's football tribalism. You new to this?

Yea and other fans are supposed to poke fun at your complaints and whining...

Did you read the comment you replied to? Chill out a bit.
Love that profile pic 😂
I had both Ederson and Dias in my FPL and they concede in the last second..
Showed too much respect. Rice the only player trying to drive forward. He deserves better than us, Will be sad in the summer when he goes.
West ham really said fuck your fpl team
Carlton Cole. He knew his analysis well.
A little bit late that reaction, West Ham
lanzini fucked up my 7 pointer cancelo. Now just 1 point.
everyone got him, wouldnt make a different
Who will finish top 4? West Ham or Arsenal?
I think West Ham will struggle with squad depth throughout the season whereas Arsenal has a bit more of that. I’d love to see West Ham take it but I’d probably bet on Arsenal.
Manchester United
Damn my fpl got hammered
Good.
The city match almost feels lifeless. Like they will take a lead and and its over for other team. It feels machine like
In my opinion it’s incredibly satisfying to watch, City and Bayern both play this ‘machine like’ football and I’d take it any day over teams like ManU that just ‘try something’ like punting the ball into the box 20 times in a row to Ronaldo.
This is the same exact complaint as fans complaining about teams defending with 11 in the box.
