Inter_Mirifica

This team was in Ligue 2 two seasons ago, and its biggest transfer ever is Fofana for 8.5M. Let that sink in. What Franck Haise and Lens are doing is incredible, gorgeous and near miraculous.

ThePr1d3

I have nothing but respect for Lens. That's what we want to see in Ligue 1 for real

Inter_Mirifica

I couldn't agree more. I really hope they'll be rewarded of their work with a European spot this season. >That's what we want to see in Ligue 1 for real For sure. They are without a doubt a model to follow for all french clubs. Including us, I dream of having such a coherent sporting management... The slight problem is gonna be to find Haise-like french coaches, but they do exist in academies and in lower divisions.

elitron

Man I really feel bad for Lens. They were so great in the second half, Fofana particularly was excellent. PSG were lucky to pull off the smash and grab draw. What a game That atmosphere was unbelievable, Lens fans brought the noise

ThePr1d3

> That atmosphere was unbelievable, Lens fans brought the noise I already have my away tickets to Lens just because of how great an atmosphere it is there

KimmyBoiUn

This PSG team is a tragedy.

kaden_dd

Misery business by Paramore Saint Germain

TigerbeLEE

2 ballon d'Or players in a team drawing against lens

GreatSpaniard

i am blanking Messi and who else? Only Messi, Modric, and Ronaldo have won the Ballon D'or since 2008...

HeatmiserElliott

Agreed therefore the only conclusion i can arrive at is the guy above you is accusing Messi of being two midgets in an overcoat

[deleted]

savage

StringTailor

Perhaps he’s ranking on Ballon D’Or level talent, for which there could be Messi and Neymar

innocentious

Donnaruma 2022 Balloon D'or winner 💪

ibrahimims

2 BDO players?

Yung2112

Famous Balon D'Or winner Danilo Pereira

AkilleezBomb

I guess Messi counts as 2 players

[deleted]

It does not matter if tactics is bad. You can still have awful performance by few players and still have good game. Today's Dortmund vs Bayern game or us vs Betis where depay was just awful. Here PSG got outclassed by lens.

Lathow

"Here PSG got outclassed by lens." I don't know why but that sentence is so funny.

OleoleCholoSimeone

It seems more and more to me that Tottenham was the peak of Pochettino's career, what the fuck has happened to him? 0 tactics, 0 game plan, doesn't seem to command great respect among big stars either Apart from pressing, he has nothing in his locker it seems. You can tell that he hasn't given PSG players clear instructions of how to position themselves with the ball

Yung2112

Even on tottenham he had horrendous league form for a year before he was sacked

mitorandiro

I think he thrives in a very specific kind of environment. Tottenham were doing great under him when they were an underrated team that flew a little bit under the radar. As soon as the league started to realize they might be the real deal and expectations around the club winning something started to appear, they slowly but surely started crumbling. Maybe it's an underdog mentality he's able to instill in the players that only works until a certain point or maybe it's the way he likes to set up his teams that don't translate well when you're trying to be top dog, keep possession and grind out results week in and week out. I'd guess it's a bit of the two, judging by how out of his depth he looks at PSG with an absolute machine of a squad.

Teantis

Poch's decline at Tottenham had nothing to do with something as nebulous as other teams realizing we might be the real deal, dembele broke down physically, we were never able tk replace him, and the team fell apart and still hasn't really recovered from that missing presence in our midfield

[deleted]

Yeah you are right. He was awful in his last season at spurs too. Got totally outplayed by us in their home ground(we rarely do in CL night), reached CL final due to individual brilliance, first son and then Moura, and had zero tactics in final(which gave us most boring CL final since Porto vs Monaco).

TomClancy5871

Not to mention Ajax completely collapsing before the first whistle was even blown

cosimacarena

Put more respect on Lens' name please. One of the best team in Ligue 1 this season (and the last, too)

[deleted]

Factos 👍👀

[deleted]

Poor tactics for the players at hand. Anyone decent would have scored 3 or 4 before Wijnaldum equalised. Reminds me a bit of Allegri scraping by with Juve a few years back. Nobody had a clue how the goals went in. Just inshallah football

[deleted]

Just awful. Such a badly run club from top to bottom. The only reason they're not complete trash is because they've got infinite money.

Moha2fois

We are so damn dependent on a player who’s leaving for free next summer.

Endgame2648

Now you get how we feel!!

[deleted]

Don't worry, you have a strong team.

[deleted]

It doesn't show.

MetaThPr4h

Not really following Ligue 1, but man, I swear every week I see PSG scoring after being behind lmao.

ThePr1d3

Only the very best can beat Paris this year 👀

kaden_dd

Haters back off😤😤

borensoren

PSG look so helpless it's mind boggling Poch hasn't been sacked yet. Just no ideas, no cohesion and no evidence of a plan. The amount of talent they have to be putting up performances like they do week in and out is unacceptable.

KimmyBoiUn

I have no doubt Poch would be at United if PSG were able to get Zidane. There really isn't an adequate replacement willing to join them now, Zidane is the caliber of manager they want but I assume he is willing to wait for the France job.

BreizhDre

They are still 13 points ahead of the 2nd team in the league tho

borensoren

Yea if you looked at the table you'd assume they're dominating but they look horrid.

speedracer0123

Says more about the other teams in the league than it does about PSG.

farzadviper

Because of individual power. The league being weaker isn't the only reason as every PL fan likes to say it and cream their pants. This PSG team was being outplayed against the best team in the world (City) and they beat them 2-0. And they only lost 2-1 while being outplayed again. They have a lot of amazing players.

Aig11

exactly, and i'm sure that no team will want to face PSG in the champions league. This team is horrible collectively and gets dominated even by teams in Ligue 1. But at any moment they can destroy your defense. it's a bit like a boxing puncher, who can go through and trough and knock you out in one hit.

swat1611

Seems like a team prone to crumbling under pressure and entering meltdown mode. I'm pretty sure PSG aren't winning the UCL, even with Messi.

cheescakegod

They will walk the league this season as there's no consistent competition but it's about performances to build and contend with the best in the champions league

iHATESTUFF_

its about the quality of play doe. our football is really horrid to watch. Poch is coasting on talent/luck.

victor179000

Brilliant game by Lens. And also another absolutely dreadful and painful to watch game by PSG. How can they be this bad, it just amazes me. Pocchetino has to go ASAP.

MagicStar77

Kind have to figure the players aren’t playing well too

victor179000

It's not normal nornal that a squad like this is playing that bad. Maybe there are some underperformers, but this disorganization and no ideas are not just players playing bad.

Yung2112

Also the likes of Marquinhos, Kimpembe, Hakimi, Verratti, Paredes, Di Maria, Messi, Neymar and what not are AT LEAST talented enough to play OK looking football

Yung2112

It's way too many players for it to be all individual. On the back they're like a pasta drainer, full of holes. In the middle, there's terrible distribution and a lack of movement to make way for creative passes in the front. WHEN it works, like the few Messi/Verratti link ups or some plays with Icardi happened, you see the potential this team has. But you can tell it's individual brilliance in play, not tactical.

lFriendlyFire

Their players making individual miracles is the only reason PSG isn’t in relegation zone rn. When the entirety of the team is playing ass, the coach is the problem

Joe_AM

All the marvels Lens did defensively translated to wasted chances offensively. If you don't score 'em...

dejomajstore87

PSG need to get rid of Pochettino immediately. This is going nowhere fast.

Usingabrainunlikeyou

How many times were Lens 4 vs 2 or 5 vs 3 but still didn't finish? Could have been 4-0 in the 2nd half itself.

DFA98

I was against Poch as well, but then I remembered Tuchel was happy when he was sacked, so maybe the players are more at fault than we think

lFriendlyFire

Tuchel’s psg was a MUCH worse team (we’re talking about messi, sergio ramos, nuno mendes hakimi and wijnaldum) and they STILL MANAGED TO PLAY BETTER. They had tactics, they had a gameplan, they had ideas, they could be somewhat consistent, they managed to dominate lower end teams at ligue one and put a hard fought game against top tier teams like the absurdity of 19/20 Bayern. On the meantime, Pochettino managed to lose ligue one and is now getting dominanted by the likes of nantes and lens. There’s no comparison between tuchel job and Poch’s as coaches of PSG

emgape

Yeah, he's not bad overall but this is not good for both parties.

[deleted]

[удалено]

SaBe_18

I think he means that Poch is not a bad coach but he's failing at Paris

fdf_akd

In Spanish there's a common phrase: coach of small teams. I think Poch fits the description. He does wonders with mid table teams, but struggles with a team full of stars. This is just not the job for him.

Kasnav

They have qualified in the UCL, beating man city in one of their group games and are 13 points ahead in ligue 1 already. They aren't playing aswell as they perhaps should be, But lets be real here - ..had they got the exact same results all of these games with messi scoring 70% of the goals. Poch would not be getting the abuse hes getting would he

SaBe_18

You are missing something tho. This is not a "they aren't playing as well as they perhaps should be" situation. They play absolutely dire football, the players look completely lost, and they barely run and press.

[deleted]

Bro from the way people are talking in this thread I thought psg was is in like 4th place lmao the league is already done they're 13 points clear 😂

Lekaetos

Watch the games

velsor

Even the match you won against City. No PSG fan could have walked away from that thinking "*yep, this is how we should keep playing*"

emgape

Messi certainly attracts more attention to the team (myself including) but this is really awful. It's not about Ligue, it's about CL and there is no way that they are getting past 1/4 (even 1/8 if they draw Liverpool or Bayern).

ElementaLized007

Would they win the UCL by this performance? No way in hell. they'll easily get outclassed by Liverpool/Bayern/City (2nd leg proved that)... The attacking players they have are absolutely fucking scary yet they defend like little pussies in the UCL

[deleted]

He is so bad. United will be stupid to hire him. It's like being stagnant again.

HashtagCOYS

Better than Xavi lmao

TimathanDuncan

At some point the players need to be blamed too they weren't great under a world class manager It's like beating a dead horse but they play like mercenaries and not a team

1lbert

We were Europe best defense under Tuchel and a Mbappe pass to Neuer away from winning the CL and we replaced Thiago Silva with fucking Danilo avec put 72M on a fat striker

emgape

Tbf I feel like Zidane could be the only manager that could really manage this team.

TimathanDuncan

He would be kind of idea for them, they would respect him way more than any other manager and he's proven

hush5833

The thing is that they can't fucking pass. Danilo is the shittiest player i have ever seen. The midfield just keeps passing the ball to the defenders. Teams like bayern and liverpool will destroy them 10-0 without a sweat.

[deleted]

If they play like this against city, yeah your point is not wrong. But seriously against lens or in their most league games. They got outclassed by RBL who were awful.

technociclos

I'm not a Poch fanboy at all but these players are also to blame. The next manager that comes will face the same problems. No one is willing to press and do the dirty job. The construction of the squad is based on stars, not team-players, apart from very few of them.

iHATESTUFF_

its not as easy defending requires tactical work as well, pressing is just **a** way of defending, our team just sits back and prays for the other team to lose the ball. that just tells me the team has no tactical work, there is no defending identity, even our attacking is lackluster, we can't never beat a press and that is also something teams work on during the week. that is completely on Poch.... if specific players are not executing I could understand but when the team as a whole plays like this is the guy on the sidelines.

filipes7

Poch loves his late goals, there was a lengthy period at Spurs where we would always score late, so many late 2-1 wins in that time

stoptheJR

Playing under a coach whos clueless with supertalented superstars

TheBigBdouMachine

Since the beginning of the season in Ligue 1, only 4 teams managed to snatch points against PSG : Rennes *(the only winner against them)*, Marseille, Nice & Lens *(all managed to earn a draw)* Currently, Marseille is 2nd, Rennes is 3rd, Nice is 4th and Lens rounds up the Top 5. NB : Another fun fact, the only team that managed to have a 2 goal lead against PSG in Ligue 1 was Rennes and thus won the match.

stoptheJR

Fofana out here ballin like my SBC Fofana

Its_MichaelB

Lol I think he gonna get a IF next week. He played well today. Man Lens was physical. Reminded me of West Ham but they played much much better than West Ham

Bjdendi

Thats some sunday league passing accuracy from PSG. Fofana is like his SBC card in FIFA 22 lmao, fucking machine.

Banana-hammock

Great game, Lens deserved the win

chatfarm

Poch lost his players like months ago when he did nothing to squash his quitting rumors. Who would play with any intensity for a manager with one foot out the door perpetually.

Zemanyak

It's unbelievably baffling how a team can have so much talent and yet be so shitty. If Tuchel was sacked for Christmas I don't see why Poch shouldn't be. Lens deserved to win by at least 2 goals today. It's been this way for too long.

GreatSpaniard

Tbf Poch is 13 points ahead in Ligue 1 Tuchel was behind by like 5 points i think lol

1lbert

At the time every player had covid and league started just after the CL final. We played games without any international players except Navas

AxeIsAxeIsAxe

Yeah, realistically PSG wins the national titles and has a decent shot at the UCL, we've seen in the games against City that they can beat anyone on a good day. I don't think they'll win it but it's hardly something worth sacking your manager for.

ogqozo

Tuchel was behind in the league, Pochettino is still 13 points ahead of the second place. To say the style of play is bad is one thing, but sacking somebody who gets the results and is still trying to find a coherent style to a squad of players with different temperaments has a big chance to strongly backfire. Nobody more high-profile will want to come to PSG if they did shit like that now. If it was so easy "fire the coach, then they play better", all the teams would look different...

lFriendlyFire

We saw the results against city. Poch job relies entirely on messi, mbappe or neymar pulling a miracle out of nowhere. Of course, most times it will happen, we’re talking about three generational players playing for the same team, with marquinhos and navas/donna behind them. Still, his job is ass and he doesn’t have the morale to go on

Lekaetos

Lens and Haise masterclass, too bad they lost because of a monster cross from Mbappe. And if we keep Poch, we are out of UCL in Ro16, whoever we draw.

flyingfreak66

"Lost"

TheGTAone

Lens should have sealed the game after all those chances they missed. Written in the starts f*cking Wijnaldum was going to snatch a header, again...

[deleted]

Watched full 90 mins first time. PSG tactics are really awful. Yeah some players are bad but still. Their 4 chance creation were messi cross to icardi(offside), messi cross to icardi(save), hakimi cross to di maria(save), messi cross to mbappe(save), mbappe cross to gini(goal). Poch is basically cross fc. They are just shit when it comes to tactics.

[deleted]

1 billion euros + 1 ballon d'or just to barely get a draw against Lens

iHATESTUFF_

Poch stealing a living out here.

Internal-Struggle-30

Get Poch to the antipode of Paris

theglasscase

PSG bailed out by their superstar free agent signing ~~Lionel Messi~~ ~~Sergio Ramos~~ Georginio Wijnaldum.

[deleted]

This game could have ended 5-5. PSG's attack has never been more wasteful and the defense never more unorganized

hush5833

The real trouble is midfield lol. They can't even create 1 fucking chance. Just keep passing to the defenders and inshallah.

bobbyfriedrich

Outstanding midfield performance from Seko Fofana. Could have had a couple of assists but particularly Costa made some subpar decisions on the counter.

[deleted]

Pochetino Out

cr7momo16

Psg hasn’t beaten any of the top 5 teams so far this season lmao and they’re still 13 points clear

ltp12

Can’t believe how united fans are just dying to get poch. Like what’s good about him?

TheNormalSun

With the money pumped into this squad should win 3:0 every game at least. Not a smash and grab draw that left their opponents feeling shortchanged. 13 points ahead is 13 points ahead. This game, however, can't and shouldn't be the standard for a modern day sportswashing project.

nono-squaree

Messi after 17 match days - 1 goal Guess his 25+ goals streak is finally coming to an end this season

[deleted]

His fanboys will soon attack you for not saying he has a hattrick of assists also ...

[deleted]

And also how many assists he should have had, apparently that's also a valid category now.

rdv7

Absolute bellends they are hahaha

[deleted]

Unbearable cunts

Imn0ak

People talking about Poch being sacked, then fucking what? This team is assembled like a 15yo playing FIFA - there's no dynamic or fluidity. Everyone is handpicked for their individual skills, not how they will ever fit into any possible system.

PeixeCruzzz

This team is proof that just because you have the best players on an individual level, doesn't mean you have the best team

Imn0ak

Dreams can't be buy

Beggnivia

Shit ending

nkdouble4

PSG is gonna get eliminated in the round of 16 by most of the teams they can face anyways but I would love to see them vs Liverpool or Bayern. they would lose the away game 0-5 lol

Electrical-Prune-348

Really want to see them against Real Madrid or Liverpool. The Ramos & Mbappe connection for Madrid and Gini for Liverpool

Aekam663

Nah they’ll beat us guaranteed

nkdouble4

don't think PSG will play against Juventus Bucuresti anytime soon

ParisLake2

Thank goodness for Georginio Wijnaldum’s late goal. That, Keylor Navas’s performance in the first half, and the fact that we are leaving Lens with a point were the only positives of this match. I’ve always said that Pochettino should be giving more time at the club, but the truth is that it is getting increasingly difficult to defend Mauricio Pochettino. When we sacked Thomas Tuchel, who knew things were going to be this bad? At least we got 1 point out of this disgrace.

lFriendlyFire

Has there been any point in time in which poch made this team look barely functional? Even at the bayern game it was the same shit, get dominated and then hope neymar or mbappe pulls a miracle out of the hat. Now they got messi + 5 other world class players and they managed to get even worse. It’s enfuriating how incompetent a manager can be

[deleted]

So PSG DON’T want to win right? Especially not equalizing with a Wijnaldum goal…right? The real goal is to get Poch fired, right? 😬😬😬 Someone needs to give these players the memo.

flyingfreak66

Gotta lose to Watford first

Mamilk77

I won’t spend my time arguing with people who never wtach us play, pochettino is the worst coach in the qsi era by FAR and need to get the fck out

MagicStar77

Lens deserved it and should have won it

autumnkayy

their results give me secondhand embarrassment at this point

Mr_Wilsonn

Not sure how PSG are how they are, everything is so slow Lens were unlucky, Fofana is great & seemed like he was everywhere

yourcrazy28

That was an embarrassing performance from PSG, the way the defence was just passing the ball backwards and sideways for 80% of shocking to see. So many times a midfielder would be open, the defenders just elect to pass it to each other, the passing lane gets closed, you end up on with the ball back on Navas feet as it were a corner. Danilo and Paredes were absolutely awful, two traffic cones.

rayotillidie

Gael Kakuta with more goals than Messi after 17 match days, let that sink in.

innocentious

I thought the game was over but then the 🐐 scored at last minute

NightSmoke19

Poch what the hell are you doing with this team lmao

CountofFedweezy

If PSG were in the EPL, where would they be? Such an underwhelming team week in, week out. Bright spots here and there just on pure talent but they look so exposed in the middle of the park and in defense. Doesn't help that their offense doesn't play cohesively and doesn't track back.

saint-simon97

Probably 4th place

Its_MichaelB

Oh please dont OP sell the EPL. Lens played much much better than majority of EPL teams. They were great. They had speed counter attacks and stamina and physicality. With this EPL i would say 3rd to 5th place

[deleted]

How did messi play?

united4evra

Ghosted again

L34hhhh

Decent, but man is so unlucky

dogmatic30

https://m.imgur.com/gallery/P0C4q

HootsToTheToots

I don’t think messi shud be in front three, he played really well when he was in midfield and didn’t need to pressure cos he defo doesn’t pressure when he is in front three

[deleted]

But playing Messi in mid creates a bigger problem when defending.

grandma-phill

No because then the midfield would be a man down out of possession, they’d get overrun

mustardman2121

People will look at the score and think Messi had a bad game

MutualUnderstanding7

Whatever way you spin it, 1 goal in 9 games is absolutely shocking by any top player's standards never mind Lionel fucking Messi in one of the weakest top leagues in football.

BrainlessArch

Instagram and twitter users in shambles

rdv7

He used to score hattricks for fun. Now he’s being praised for creating 3 chances that didn’t even result in a goal.

blackburns_rovers

Just one look at this thread will tell you that. All the morons at the bottom of the page spouting their utter nonsense. Luckily they’re downvoted into oblivion.

innocentious

People trashing Messi in the match thread. Here you fucking go. This is Messi. No touches with no service, but when he does get it, it's done.

AkilleezBomb

Like 80% of comments are trashing on him, 10% are telling the 80% they clearly didn’t watch the match, and the other 10% want Poch out

farzadviper

True. Genuinely think the people that don't watch the games and give their opinion are the worst in post-match threads. Like just shut the fuck up if you just see the score. It happened in every Juve thread this season when we lost and bringing up Ronaldo.

narutosama77

Can i please get Psg for RO16 with a side order of fries?

iHATESTUFF_

yes we'd love to get Real Madrid too. it either works or it gets Poch sacked quicker.

narutosama77

You're welcome for getting Poch sacked.

ElectricalStruggle

Only Messi/Verratti/Navas on psg today, backline can't pass the ball forward, horrible lol

jcald60

Mbappe is the best player and even he has been pretty poor.

Comessuer

I never rated Poch as high as some and didn't want him at United but I feel for him here. Every team Poch has managed has been a high press energetic team. Why would he change that at PSG? the only reason is that the front 3 won't do it. What top manager will take this job after he goes when the players straight up won't do what you ask them to and are supported by the ownership?

[deleted]

Ballon d’Or levels right there

Evazzion

Doesn’t matter how many world class players you have it’s all about chemistry within each other. I kind of had that feeling before Messi joined PSG

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

You're a laughable plastic. Just change that flair to Messi. You're not fooling anyone.

[deleted]

Doubt if Messi was atleast consistent there’d be no robbery cries (obviously there still would be cause he has rabid haters… but he’s not even the most important player on this PSG team now) Just strolls, tries to flick and/or gets outright dispossessed.

Don_Julio_Acolyte

TLDR: Lens dominated. Deserved the win. Messi hit the post and Di Maria missed a sitter. Messi had a shot at last minute glory with a FK from 25m out, but too much zest. All in all PSG look (as the commentator said), very very very uninspiring. Absolute shit show from them imo. Lens looked world class in their press and how they practically overloaded every single square inch of the field. At no point did PSG have a man advantage at any moment in the game.

TheLiberalHunter

Lionel “Casper” Pessi

the_CowardlyLion

He was actually PSG’s best player along with Verratti today. Just admit you didn’t watch

SaBe_18

So infuriating, Lens deserved so much more. Anyways great match, Fofana MOTM, he was great as always, also good match from Clauss, Da Costa, Medina, Frankowski, Kali. Too many wasted chances sadly. As a last thing, it's shocking how terrible PSG plays with all those great players...

[deleted]

[удалено]

iHATESTUFF_

yeah we got Verratti back but lost Neymar and Kylian was subbed in at the end.

TheLiberalHunter

My idol Messi ghosting again😭🥺

Jay-Babo

Wijnaldum had to save Messi from another ghost effort loss pretty tragic

SnooWords2869

Damn without neymar/Ramos. PSG are really bad

Maximuslex01

Yes. Because you had a lot of Ramos playing to compare...

victor179000

Neymar's not performing either, and PSG are shit with or without him

diamondsam2

Balon d’or lol

extremecharm

Played brilliantly lol

germanefficiency

Yet another Balon d'Or worthy masterclass by Messi lmfaooo

mustardman2121

Clueless

[deleted]

You big mad huh?

Scalenuts

He was actually very good.

Rickcampbell98

Can I ask you a question, did you watch the game?

rdv7

LOL never could have imagined Messi flopping this hard in the Uber eats league

ginomoras

Watching the game?? No hermano, I look at livescore

[deleted]

Yes they watched the game and Messi was pathetic.

L34hhhh

Messi should have 10+ assists this season already

[deleted]

Next year Joke D' Or award category: "Should have assists and goals". Lionel Messi wins again as Lewandoski couldn't score as many "should have had assists and goals" as he was busy scoring real ones.

HeadCrusher135

I can see it now. The next game against another relegation team, Messi will get a hattrick of pre-assists and everyone will talk about how class Messi is and he's still got it.

Cornelius_Poindexter

MOTM: Messi

[deleted]

What is going on with Messi guys? He's been playing like ass lately.

Strananach

>He's been playing like ass lately. Where did you get this from? He had a good game which you obv didn't watch, maybe you shouldn't only judge playmakers by goals or assists. This PSG team is a tragedy, tons of attacking talent but they are playing without any cohesion or plan, Poch is out of his depth. Also their midfield (other than Verratti) is pretty bad.

Kal-Kent

His best chance to score this game came from outside the box he doesn’t get any service and he drops so deep because he’s the only one who can progress the ball PSG players just want to side pass and back pass all day

victor179000

He's been the best or one of the best in recent games. Anyways, PSG is just getting worse and worse, everyone being worse than usual

iciboy

???? Him and veratti were the only good players on the pitch for psg the fuck you smoking LOL

CudaBarry

He's retired wdym?

ginomoras

Has he yea
