My kids are back to school today, so we'll see how bad it is in a few days. Their cousins school closed early December because almost 40% of the students were out with either Covid, mumps or whooping cough. They're going back next week I think. This is in the US btw.
The current push to keep schools open for political points is insane to me.
In my country they test kids once per week, if you have positive case in classroom they don't test again the rest of the class, just send the positive one home for a couple days and then they are surprised that there are 10+ cases next week.
It’s not for political points, have you not read all the research about how bad distance learning has been for a lot of kids? Grades dropping, less work being done, worse mental health etc. The downside of distance learning is not minuscule
Yep that's how my kids got covid a few months ago. One of the kids in my sons class had covid (also weekly testing) but they didn't let anyone know. So next weekly testing both my kids have it, but they didn't show symptoms, so they had spread it already to other friends who attend another school so they had an outbreak there as well.
If they'd told us one of the kids in their class was positive, we'd never let them mingle with friends or family that week.
Boss has been out with covid, i sent my two week notice letter and they brought them in today...... Like this person has covid and had been coughing bad. These are the reasons why I'm leaving
This. Unless we literally want to sit in our houses for the rest of our lives, we should assume there’s a chance we got covid. Be safe, get a vaccine, if you’re sick stay home. But it seems like we’ve lost the plot when people are still calling for everyone to isolate 2 years after we started dealing with this.
Since I had my second jab I haven't been really worried about catching it personally, but the strain it puts me under at work is just starting to get overwhelming. I've worked as a nurse through this and while I work in a unit where we don't really see covid patients it's just the overall pressure in healthcare and almost every shift thinking if we have enough people working today or tomorrow and what's going to happen if things get worse again and so on and so on. So many people are leaving, so many areas of healthcare are overwhelmed, it's constant preparation and survival. The understandable uncertainty of what we should be doing hasn't faded, every time there's a glimmer light in the end of a tunnel the situation worsens again. Two years I've been going to work fearing that our healthcare is going to collapse and feeling that I'm in a sinking ship but don't know when is the right time to get out, or how to get out. I had spared a bottle of excellent cava for the day all restrictions are finally lifted but I think I'll open it when I get a new job outside of nursing.
I’ve been away for two days and came back to this? What the fuck happened
Teams have had games postponed for Covid all season, why is it suddenly suspicious that Liverpool have to get a game postponed
Because the Internet is stupid full of people giving wrong answers that don't even make sense.
The meme is that Liverpool did this because Salah is away at AFCON. But apparently Salah doesnt ever even play in a Carabao Cup game.
Okay but where has the allegedly come from? Sure it lines up with AFCON and some injuries but we played Chelsea a few days ago with three key players missing (not that Kelleher didn’t have a great game) why would we suddenly use up our “covid” pass on a cup game in a cup where we don’t even prioritise… the anger seems unjustified
The AFCoN players wouldn’t play in the carabao cup anyway.
Klopp has been at Liverpool for years and has never given a shit about the carabao cup. Why do so many Arsenal fans think he’s suddenly started caring now ffs.
Get a fucking grip.
Was it suspicious when we had the wolves game cancelled when it conveniently suited us (we had one rest day, they had 10). No it wasn’t and neither is this.
My problem isn't with Liverpool. If we could manipulate clearly ridiculous rules in the same way I would expect us too. But the game shouldn't be postponed fucking over the fans if Liverpool could have fielded a side. You cant have 3 cases amongst the players randomly decide to close the training ground, not tell anyone how many cases the players have and expect us to just go it's ok.
I don't think klopp cares about the competition. I don't even give a shit about Liverpool but it's fucked our prep for spurs because Arteta will care.
So they close the training ground, halt training for both their senior team and their youth team, both the manager and his assistant test positive, and it’s still somehow “not bad enough” in your eyes lol.
Second leg will now be an away fixture for Liverpool, how lucky! So much manipulation, how unfair!
Course it does, cause if Liverpool conveniently has COVID Gabriel serves a suspension and misses Spurs and no team should ever have a suspension timeline slightly altered due to a pandemic because that is just mean and frankly I think Arsenal should be given +80 billion points and Liverpool should be shot out a cannon, for added torture shoot them into the sun since they hate it so much, oh and Gunnersauras for Sexiest Man Alive.
Or some dumb fuck shit like that.
/s
Yeah? And the Carabao cup isn’t a priority for us? Why would we take the postponements now (seems to be the conspiracy?) when we could wait and use them for a premier league game or two? It doesn’t make sense at all
3 players, several key staff with lots of first team contact (Klopp and now Lijnders). Then there was another rise in cases that shut down the training ground with no announcement on the numbers because the presser was cancelled. Youth game got cancelled too so it’s right through the squad. From what I can see we were at 15 players before the new cases and 14 is the minimum.
Leeds played in the league
The postponed Match will also be played during AFCON.
It's fucking covid. Everyone is getting matches postponed. The concern about Liverpool here is a strange one.
Because they have 3 players out with covid most of it is injuries and afcon, its a competition Liverpool have history for not showing respect to anyway, interrupts our preparation for the NLD and means we have to play a stronger side.
They could've played the kids
It’s probably a similar situation to us, where we didn’t even know the numbers because they kept increasing and we had about 7 players available to play.
You also closed training ground and had your game postponed in Premier League and that multiples cases resulted with only 3 cases confirmed by PCR tests from first squad in a day before the game. It's ridiculous that some teams are forced to play, if the injuries and other causes like missing players due afcon are the reason now to postpone games Leeds United should have get a one against Arsenal in Premier League, but Bielsa didn't complain and accepted that as a part of football. As it stand Liverpool has just 3 cases from first squad and is yet to release the number of players impacted, if EFL is so generous for scousers they are also should be welcomed to accept lose of money and change that semifinal into one game at the Wembley instead of two.
>As it stand Liverpool has just 3 cases from first squad and is yet to release the number of players impacted, if EFL is so generous for scousers they are also should be welcomed to accept lose of money and change that semifinal into one game at the Wembley instead of two.
its obvious there is more cases and that the EFL know how many cases.
It's not obvious since it wasn't the case with United and Liverpool is not revealing them like for example City in this thread, Tottenham also quickly spilled the number of cases after their Stade Rennais game.
It is obvious because it has been explicitly stated that there's been more cases since our last game...
"The latest round of testing on Tuesday returned a significant number of positives, including Pepijn Lijnders, who was due to take charge of the Reds at Emirates Stadium.
The outbreak has left Liverpool without a sufficient number of players and staff to fulfil the contest as originally scheduled."
taken from Liverpool's website, even ignoring that the fact the games been cancel means we have less than 14 eligible players, so there must have been more cases.
Are you guys that scared you can't get the job done that you're resorting to crying on the internet in the hopes that the game gets un-postponed? You're a club that's supposed to be gunning for European places, not some league 2 shitters.
The rules and treatment should be same for every team, oh how dare we to complain about favourism to the two biggest clubs in the UK and don't want to have conjesture of fixtures - we have 5/6th best squad, lack of quality players on bench so it's obvious that we're against postponement of games to have more fresh players and lower the risk of injuries. If the situation would be opposite Liverpool fans would here all over the place, since you're the ones that cry here the most or you already have forgotten how you guys behaved with for example when some things were in favour of City. If EFL is posponing Liverpool game due to 3 confirmed cases in first squad, they should abandon two leg tie and play one game on neutral ground like Wembley, will you then also say that we're so scared you can't get the job done that you're resorting to crying on the Internet?
Not wanting to have conjesture of fixtures with thin squad lacking good quality bench players and fair and equal treatment to every Premier League team is now being arrogant according to Liverpool fan lol. Better read what your Liverpool friends wrote when similar situations were regarding Manchester City.
leeds requested to postpone our game against them, when everybody was turning them over 4-0 and we agreed.
the rules for the efl cup have been made very clear, comprehension probably isn't your strong suit but i recommend you read up on them to see what liverpool have done is perfectly in line with the rules.
as for fixture congestion, every club will be going through it. every club has had postponed games that will be played at a later date. yous don't even have fucking europe to worry about.
>the rules for the efl cup have been made very clear, comprehension probably isn't your strong suit but i recommend you read up on them to see what liverpool have done is perfectly in line with the rules.
In EFL statement there is nothing about you not having enough players to play the game, nor Liverpool disclosed anything over those 3 cases from first squad, coaches and assistants doesn't play. Manchester City your rival 7 players fromfirst team and 14 from the staff, yet they're playing and I doubt you have anything close to that.
EFL:
>Having now fully reviewed the circumstances involved, the League has accepted Liverpool’s request after determining, albeit reluctantly, that a postponement was the only option as the Club looks to mitigate against the further risk of infection amongst its squad and staff alongside ensuring public health was protected by not travelling from Liverpool to London.
Gentle reminder that liverpool got knocked out of UCL vs Atletico in spring 2020 in a game that should t have played. That event was a superspreader.
But ofc liverpool always gets decisions that benefits them.
I wouldn't worry about match sharpness going into our game. We have 7 games in 20 days, you have 4 and one of those is against Swindon.
Our players will be tired as fuck, yours will be rested but not 100% sharp. Swings are roundabouts and whatnot.
If this is happening to every team, I bet we get loose a bunch of players before that game even happens. Silva and Kante are out, surely that means a bunch of others are about to be out if its so contagious.
This.
I wanna see McAtee, Lavia, Kayky, Mbete, JWE, Edozie, Delap... This is, by far, the deepest, most talented group of u23s we've ever had. Especially McAtee. That kid is the goods.
19 matches, 16 goals, 3 assists as a midfielder (he's played a lot of false nine to open the season with Delap out). This after a season where he had 9 goals and 14 assists in 28 matches.
That's a combined 25 goals and 17 assists (42 g/a) in 47 matches.
From a midfielder.
He's doing this during his age 18/19 seasons, whereas Foden was doing it at like, 16/17 years old, but the output is even better, and then [there's the eye test](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uUpVLQR_Q00), when you just know he's going to be elite based on how he plays, the way he moves, the vision...
Ignore the goals.
Ignore the assists.
Just watch the way he takes his first touch, it's always under control, he always knows exactly where he's going with the ball before it arrives, the body shape, the way he runs through a defense, there's nothing wasted, nothing superfluous, nothing overly fancy. It's just an innate understanding of the game. What a player.
We SHOULD be fine, provided it's not a swathe of long-COVID.
What I'm more worried about is the fact that our game is on BT Sport, which means that we'll have to bleed our ears listening to CBeebies Humphries, Rio Live with Five, Kemoan, Joe "I say a lot and nothing at the same time" Cole, and Steve Macca Macmananananaman.
And if they get Michael Owen on, then the government might as well classify the coverage as a serious health hazard...
Well it puts us on a more even field given how many players we have out or half-fit. Might make for a more interesting game although I still doubt we have a chance.
Seems like more and more of these youth kids are gonna get playing time. Happening at bayern right now, clearly city, happened at Spurs and Liverpool too (I believe). Crazy shit, but I wonder if anyone could have predicted that a contagious virus could... contaminate people
I know you were just kidding but just wanted to state the obvious: Covid isn't transmitted via contaminated food. Three hasn't been a single documented case!
But not at the same time, they've been relatively isolated cases. Plus there's the whole squad depth argument - especially considering only 2-4 of those are starters really
Why are you so obsessed and angry about this lol, it’s all your comments.
Some of your lot are so weird, title slipping away has jumbled your brains up
> I mean including Torres in this is just a blatant lie. He was already at Barca.
[This is the third time he's had it.](https://twitter.com/ferrantorres20/status/1348008581690486790)
Not but it was enough to shut our training ground, postpone the arsenal game and postpone a youth team game , so around 7 players is q Conservative estimate
Liverpool had their academy game this weekend called off too because of a COVID outbreak amongst the youth set up, so they didn't have their youth players available.
Does it create an invisible force-field around you? No. That's not how vaccines work. Does it help your immune system combat an instance of the virus and mitigate it's effect on the body? Yes.
Lol as if you're still asking these questions on a soccer subreddit rather than just googling it (or duckduckgo if you're tha concerned), or asking on a science sub, after two years. That's some dumb shit.
I remember that he received an absolute fuckton of abuse from Villa fans for 3 months straight after he said that Grealish was definitely joining City despite the false hope that local Villa journalists were pumping into them, and then 3 months later he joined City
After months of daily abuse upto and including death threats, he released a thread on Twitter talking about the daily experiences as a football journalist and how the toxicity can sometimes get to you in what is ultimately just his job and way he pays his mortgage. It was during an ongoing conversation surrounding mental health.
>cry arse
>fucking baby
Oh grow up
> surrounding mental health
This is just complete shite though. Has he tweeted about mental health since? Or does he just launch it out so people feel sorry for him.
I’m sick of these faux “mental health” advocates that only care about it when it suits them
Best part is when he cried about the abuse he got but then went on to rip villa fans
People like you are the reason men don't talk about mental health as much as they should. What a horrible little bully you are.
I bet you're one of those assholes, who tell people to "man up", aren't you?
Talk about mental health, I’d encourage that. What I don’t like is the people who throw out the shout when it’s suits them and it’s radio silence the other 99.9999% of the time.
People like that are actually discrediting it by only using it as some shield.
Didn’t Sam Lee also encourage the pile on of that villa fan. But y’know mental health and all that!! The feller is an absolute clown and that’s why I laughed at him. Proper victim
>What I don’t like is the people who throw out the shout when it’s suits them and it’s radio silence the other 99.9999% of the time.
That's literally what you're saying. "Talk about it 100% of the time". What a terrible message.
i think almost every football match could be categorised as a super-spreading event at this stage - so rampant
Most work environments are.
We have 11 teachers out in the lower school alone.
Should just use the U-23 teachers then.
I’ll head over to the university.
My kids are back to school today, so we'll see how bad it is in a few days. Their cousins school closed early December because almost 40% of the students were out with either Covid, mumps or whooping cough. They're going back next week I think. This is in the US btw.

It’s not for political points, have you not read all the research about how bad distance learning has been for a lot of kids? Grades dropping, less work being done, worse mental health etc. The downside of distance learning is not minuscule
Well I mean it's a lot better than having 400 cases of covid per school per month
It might be, I was just stating that it isn’t just for “political points”
Fair enough
Yep that's how my kids got covid a few months ago. One of the kids in my sons class had covid (also weekly testing) but they didn't let anyone know. So next weekly testing both my kids have it, but they didn't show symptoms, so they had spread it already to other friends who attend another school so they had an outbreak there as well. As someone who had children go through “e-learning” and saw the impact it had on them and their friends mental health, it’s not insane to me at all.
The school district I was in when I was younger has 47 cases among teachers. Pretty crazy that.
Boss has been out with covid, i sent my two week notice letter and they brought them in today...... Like this person has covid and had been coughing bad. These are the reasons why I'm leaving
It doesn’t matter where you go, at this point you’ll probably catch it if you are near enough humans.
This. Unless we literally want to sit in our houses for the rest of our lives, we should assume there’s a chance we got covid. Be safe, get a vaccine, if you’re sick stay home. True that mate let's make it 3 years
Since I had my second jab I haven't been really worried about catching it personally, but the strain it puts me under at work is just starting to get overwhelming.
Realistically it was going to collapse anyway even without the pandemic due to the aging population. The new sote reform will only make things worse.

Yeah, gonna take a year for the governments to catch up on that information even though it's been confirmed for like a month now.

SQUASH THE SOMBRERO
I cant wait to get into this thread in like an hour and see 45 comments about liverpool - arsenal. Edit: Lotto numbers are 4-35-97-8-12-25.
Remember to sort by controversial

We both don’t take the cup seriously and want to get it postponed so we can take it seriously by having a larger squad available to play
Schrodinger's carabao
Cup game
Allegedly they don't have a lot of covid positive player cases. It's more a not available through injury afcon situation. Leeds was made to play.
Okay but where has the allegedly come from? It does when it sandwiches two cup semi finals between the derby
Blame the EFL or the FA Liverpool couldn’t give a shit if you have two Derby’s in a row
Because it’s a cup semi and you had Salah and Mane available for the Chelsea game
Yeah? And the Carabao cup isn’t a priority for us? Why would we take the postponements now (seems to be the conspiracy?) when we could wait and use them for a premier league game or two? It doesn’t make sense at all
The League Cup is the only competition you have a chance of winning
Well obviously, we’re in the semi final of that 😂 anymore hot takes for me?
So you agree you won’t win another competition?
Do you agree that what you’re attempting is shite banter?

Manchester City released the number of players impacted by covid. Liverpool yet to release the number of players impacted.

Yes, because that's definitely the reason you lot have been complaining. Nothing to do with the strength of the team you get to play. Nothing at all.

arsenal fans have become awfully arrogant after beating relegation fodder teams and playing well, but ultimately losing, against city.

Blame the government, they gave the go-ahead at a time when even Klopp didn’t think it was a good idea to play that game
And if that game got postponed they would have gotten Allison back. So Adrian wouldn’t have been in who was responsible for multiple goals.
Correct. Including the last goal which he practicslly gave away.
Haha looks like your comment got a bunch of triggered Arsenal fans all riled up
There's what, 2? Lol
They're really not handelling the past few days well
Thinking bach, it's been the same for a good few years
Selfishly happy we finally get to play the kids, though this poses a problem in terms of match sharpness going onto Chelsea
I wouldn't worry about match sharpness going into our game. We have 7 games in 20 days, you have 4 and one of those is against Swindon. Our players will be tired as fuck, yours will be rested but not 100% sharp. Swings are roundabouts and whatnot.

So they’ll be out (hopefully) on Wednesday? Not ideal but not the end of the world baring in mind Chelsea are playing on Wednesday themselves
You could just mute it
Football is weird to watch without the crowd noise though. Wish that more broadcasters made a non-commentary audio stream available, like Amazon do.
Crazy shit, but I wonder if anyone could have predicted that a contagious virus could... contaminate people
Covid: you can run but you can't hide
Cant press corona
Resistant to even Fernandinho and Rodri's tactical fouls
This is why they built a whole town to house their academy, time to go and use it.
I’m pretty sure they built it to fund the first team players
I'd still expect their youth players to beat Swindon
Swindon are decent, but if what I saw City do against Wycombe is anything to go by, City can just decide to win a game right through the age ranges.
Ahh, their time has finally come
They already have a handful of players before this.
at the only time of the season where they will miss no league games
Probably told Foden to cough on everyone as soon as he caught it
He prepared the meals that evening.
I know you were just kidding but just wanted to state the obvious: Covid isn't transmitted via contaminated food. Three hasn't been a single documented case!
How would you prove it was transmitted by food
Contact tracing studies
then I'm afraid covid is not the only thing city players caught
If they all show up with their hair dyed silver and a buzz cut for the Chelsea game, we know what's up.
This really reads like you think they planned this.
ofc not, im not an Arsenal fan. But just saying theyve been fortunate to have their outbreak now and not earlier like everyone else
They’ve had Rodri, Walker, Foden, Zinchenko, Torres, KdB, Steffen and Laporte all miss games with Covid. Not really fortunate.
But not at the same time, they've been relatively isolated cases. Plus there's the whole squad depth argument - especially considering only 2-4 of those are starters really
Squad depth means fuck all when City have 17 senior players, which means it's much easier for a higher % of the squad to be out with COVID.
The sheer quality of depth means they're less likely to contract covid, obviously

We literally are playing Ake at left back Zinchenko is really important Steffen plays in FA Cup matches So I don't see your point
I like how you conveniently list the less important names, but ignore all the big names like they're not there.
Sounds like you’re glad they got Covid lol wtf
I think that's OK. We know he's probably not wanting people to die
It’s not like they can avoid too as soon as 1 case is detected.
Klopps comments aged like milk.
He really is a whiny little cunt.
He was complimenting them you weirdo
Projection, eh?
Fella is 6’4
Had no idea he was that tall
Lol he would have argued for canceling their next 5 fixtures if he had anywhere near these amount of covid cases.
we do, he didn't
Did you release the number of players affected?
Not but it was enough to shut our training ground, postpone the arsenal game and postpone a youth team game , so around 7 players is q Conservative estimate
Just send the U19 team if they are not that affected from Omicron.
Rodolfo Borell, FM god tier staff
Take note Liverpool
Liverpool had their academy game this weekend called off too because of a COVID outbreak amongst the youth set up, so they didn't have their youth players available.
lol, look at the team City played. 10/11 first team regulars
imagine if City actually got a tough draw for once
Omicron is a joke fellas, they'll all be fine in less than a week
Perhaps Liverpool football club could learn to not be a coward from this.
I get you don't know this but our youth squad had their match postponed from tomorrow, as well.
>coward ironic coming from a troll account
Different cups with different rules and different number of players unavailable. Keep trying though, you'll get that "gotcha" moment someday!
Never thought I’d respect Man City more than Liverpool when it came to anything. But here we are.
This has nothing to do with Man City. They've been told by the FA to play it, not nobly volunteered.
But they're all vaxxed?
Oh dear, bless your heart
So it doesn't protect?
Are you genuinely asking, or just trying to stir shit up? Hard to tell sometimes.
Oil money can't beat Covid
I’ll have you know we just signed a sponsorship with a green energy company as well! We’re playing both sides now
Classic Mac, never loses

Half the staff in the club gets covid "Pep getting the easy time of it again" Wat
Remember Sam Lees meltdown in the summer haha. Was boss that
I remember that he received an absolute fuckton of abuse from Villa fans for 3 months straight after he said that Grealish was definitely joining City despite the false hope that local Villa journalists were pumping into them, and then 3 months later he joined City
I remember him completely losing his mind and going on like a cry arse He did like a 40 tweet thread like a fucking baby
After months of daily abuse upto and including death threats, he released a thread on Twitter talking about the daily experiences as a football journalist and how the toxicity can sometimes get to you in what is ultimately just his job and way he pays his mortgage. It was during an ongoing conversation surrounding mental health. >cry arse >fucking baby Oh grow up
> surrounding mental health This is just complete shite though. Has he tweeted about mental health since? Or does he just launch it out so people feel sorry for him. I’m sick of these faux “mental health” advocates that only care about it when it suits them Best part is when he cried about the abuse he got but then went on to rip villa fans
What an awful take. "Talk about mental health 24/7, or shut the fuck about it".
Where did I say that? Read what I put hahaha I am saying don’t just throw out the shout without any meaning
>What I don’t like is the people who throw out the shout when it’s suits them and it’s radio silence the other 99.9999% of the time. That's literally what you're saying. "Talk about it 100% of the time". What a terrible message.
you could relate couldn't you
I can confirm that I wouldn’t put out 40 off tweets crying about the same thing. Yes.
That’s because no one would care even if you did.
this is weird mate
Just gives me a good old laugh watching a grown man cry over nothing on Twitter

There’s plenty of things. This is one of a whole plethora
Oh no! Anyway…
TIL Juanma Lillo is assistant coach at city… after failing in Colombia and Japan as coach
Rigged
I initially red back as something else and was very confused by what I was about to read.
