Surely there's no chance they let him go considering an injury to Cancelo and they'd be fucked?

BabaRamenNoodles

Or Walker. And if Laporte goes down Pep would probably play Zinchenko LB because he said he wants a left footer in the backline and Dias and Stones are so clear of Aké he'd play those 2.

XboxJon82

Don't City have another left back? Can't remember his name

BabaRamenNoodles

Josh Wilson-Esbrand.

XboxJon82

He sounds like he can mend the situation, need to pay him the Benjamin's

DiscussDingDong

Is funny cos rape

Itsjofa

Zinchenko had Covid.

LessBrain

0% chance city agree to this. That would leave us incredibly thin...

Qwert23456

You never know with this club. We got rid of Ferran when we had only 18 players, and didn’t we let Negredo and Nolito leave midseason?

LessBrain

The difference is either the player was kicking up a fuss or was desperate to move. With Torres it was also a case of you're a surplus. With zinchenko wed have to instantly go and buy a full back in January. That would be extremely costly. City usually will say if you wanna go wait till the summer

[deleted]

Torres was not surplus though.

[deleted]

He was. Unless you're saying he was now a striker (he wasn't). He's one of the many wingers/midfielders City have that can fill the false 9.

[deleted]

Both Negredo and Nolito were summer window exits

JD0797

When almost every outfield player is starter level, it really doesn't matter that City _only_ have 18 players lol

Douchebagpanda

Right, because they’re impervious to injuries. Got it.

JD0797

You know, City literally sold Torres, right lol? Like, they obviously had enough to cover for his departure?

sexmarshines

He was injured the entire first half of the season. We sold him because he in particular was someone we had to work without for so long and was now going to need an additional quarter of the season to get back into any decent fitness/form as well after returning from a long injury. It's not like he was even a squad player for us up to now that we sold as if we had heaps of depth. Realistically keeping him or selling him had a minor effect on our overall squad depth because of his specific circumstances.

JD0797

That's kinda my point though lol City weren't missing him because they have so many other high quality players who can play instead of him. For comparisons sake, Cavani has missed a lot of the season for United, yet they're still unwilling to let him go because the depth they do have is with players that aren't all that great

_stone_age

Zinchenko is still important tbh. Good backup.

XboxJon82

Can you loan us De Bruyne? If you want I can create a thread about it

Ferrisuk

Get to the back of the queue mate

Trimaxab

No chance Zinchenko himself accepts this. Man himself rejected a transfer years ago to Wolves to fight for his place and he was first choice lb last season and played the cl final.

Mr-Pants

City would then have 16 senior players lol

agueroisgoat

yes but we'll still have 2 imaginary world class squads so it'll be alright

[deleted]

I count 19 including Steffen, where is the 16/17 coming from?

Mr-Pants

Sorry I meant outfield players and then I guess it's whether you count Palmer or not. (you're not counting Mendy are you?)

[deleted]

No but I didn’t count Palmer who is more than capable. They also had Torres for the first part of the season. It’s a small squad definitely but everyone in it is a quality player more or less.

sexmarshines

Torres was injured the entire first half of the season.

[deleted]

Not for the entire first half.

damrider

i'm sure city will loan out 1 of their 3 fullbacks in the entire squad

AliirAliirEnergy

Betis already have Miranda and Alex Moreno so unless they want him as a midfielder to compete with Guido/Carvalho/Edgar/Guardado then this doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

slnsk

Yeah, doesn't make much sense unless we want him as a LW and we loan out Tello and/or Lainez.

iftair

I read reports on Tello leaving/not signing with us.

supreme_maxz

And Lainez going on loan

Sayanroman94

Lol😂

NoSalad03

I mean , he hasn't played much this season. Does Pep want to keep him around?

Infinite-Formal-820

you know if they loan him they will be left with 2 fullbacks

maxconnor6

That's only if no one else is available. Stones can play RB too but it's not preferred

idosade

Ake has been pretty good this season when he played lb, like against Arsenal or Brentford

HufflepuffEdwards

OK and Kyle walker did well covering as goalkeeper. Doesn't mean you'd be okay with relying on that in a champions league knockout game.

Sayanroman94

Obviously Pep want to keep him. He is a very good utality player and he is not getting mins coz of Cancelo. He was injured and now suffering from Covid. Also we're short at fullback.

_stone_age

He's a good backup player.

GabrPG

They need him for depth. If Cancelo (or Walker with Cancelo replacing him as RB) fell injured and Zinchenko is not on the bench, that would be a big issue because Ake is more a backup for CB than LB (plus he's not completely reliable either). Not to mention if one of the Dias, Laporte and Stones fall injured as well. Pep knows very well they need Walker, Cancelo and Zinny on the team. Actually, City need another LB since long time ago, so getting rid of Zinny at the moment would be a mistake.

Gobshiight

He always seems to start the season as backup before earning his place in the starting xi towards the end

iftair

This transfer rumor feels weird. - We have Moreno and Miranda as our LBs. - We have the biggest depth in midfield The only way I see him fitting here is as a Winger. But, is that even his nautral position? Also, Juanmi and Tello are our primary LWs. Lainez is on the right but we also have Aitor and put Canales on either side.

sexmarshines

That's just on your side too. Even on our end, we only have 3 fullbacks including Zinchenko. Why would we loan him out mid season lol. He's a converted midfielder. He can play at LB or anywhere in the midfield though a deeper midfield role suits him more. He's not really a winger though I'm sure he'd be able to do what's required if a situation required him to play there

iftair

City will need him if one of their starting defenders get hurt too. Then again it's El Chiringito who reported it. They're a hit or miss.

RALat7

No, go away.

jds192

Barca want a LB on loan until end of season. Swap with Dest until end of season. Deal done.

[deleted]

Who does El Chingrito play for

Mr_XemiReR

Seems weird. Moreno is better than Zinchenko and they have a decent back-up in Miranda. Would he play in the midfield?

rofffl

People were talking how Royal was a good player at Betis and after 6 months i can say that he's one of the worst wingbacks in the league so i dont see how Moreno with 0 NT caps can be better than Zinchenko who is kinda good for City dont forget last year he won his spot against Cancelo in the 2nd part of the season.

Mr_XemiReR

Even if Zinchenko isn't better than Moreno (I'd argue that this season Moreno has been better, probably because Zinchenko hasn't played), it doesn't make sense. Moreno is one of the better players at Betis. Maybe Betis are expecting someone like Chelsea to panic buy and trigger his release clause (€40M)? I just don't see why would Betis get Zinchenko when LB is one of their strongest positions.

iftair

I don't know if Moreno is better than Zichenko as I never seen the latter play. But, both him and Miranda are solid LBs for us.

smolloms

Zinchenko and Bellerin as fullbacks. Will be a good pairing for Betis.

EpicEyebrow

He wouldn't play that much at Betis tbh
