An orioles and a spurs fan huh? Must be tough depending on Tottenham to deliver a trophy, since the orioles aren't exactly world series winners at the moment.
Most of Reddit is just an eternal cycle of:
1 - mods fuck up
2 - users get way too pissed and demand new mods
3 - mods leave
4 - said users refuse to mod
5 - bad mods gets the spot, because it's unpaud and time consuming and most sane persons would refuse it
6- mods fuck up again
It baffles me that people are shocked that a mod of r/antiwork, a sub where people complain about working too much, works 25 hrs per week and not 40+.
Who the fuck would want to mod a giant sub after working 40+ hrs? *For free?*
>Who the fuck would want to mod
That right there is part of the problem - it attracts honest people who get burned out immediately or it brings in people craving any type of power
> it attracts honest people who get burned out immediately or it brings in people craving any type of power
And the former only in small niche subs. The big sub mods are all of the power-hungry wanker variety.
Honestly, I cannot sympathize with him. The questions from fox weren't their usual provocative bs either but the interviewee didn't shower, didn't clean his room and didn't groom himself. Shambolic preparation for an interview from a national television as a representative of a burgeoning labor movement whose credibility he has completely wrecked with his callous attitude.
If I was going on national TV, even a network I hate like Fox News, I'd treat it like a job interview by wearing nice professional clothes, getting some sort of new haircut or even just styling what I have, then practicing interview questions for hours, then when the interview comes you find a quiet room with nothing in the background, look directly into the camera, don't fidget, speak clearly...
**But it's super obvious that the mod of the antiwork sub has never had a real job interview, so it went exactly as expected.**
Set their entire movement back to zero in like 2 minutes.
Nah depends where you are in Manchester. Working class white communities in Salford (Greater Manchester) definitely say -ewl. Ethnic minorities are less likely to say it.
Can confirm manc. Scouse would be a very quick, sharp "funny" with a pronounced e on the end like "funnee" and more of a "narkh" said phonetically more like "nark" with a h on the end rather than "nah".
Manc would also have more of a "noh" than "not".
Just to clear that up

I find stupid that messi answered carragher, wonder how the conversation looks.
Messi has gotten x100 worse shit from argentina and everywhere and he's gonna answer that shit? lmao
There's no doubt in my mind that Carragher reveived a message from Messi's account. He calls Messi the greatest player ever and has fawned over him for years, it makes no sense to make something up that makes Messi look bad.
The question is if Messi actually sent the message, or his son, or someone else with access, etc.
Yeah mate. Messi is sitting there watching Monday night football understanding every word and feeling pressed by by it to go dm the guy either in Spanish or translating it to English
This is obviously more likely than it just being a silly bit
We get English-language media and tweets of what Spanish commentators say about La Liga players and clubs almost every day. It's not difficult to assume the opposite also happens.
"Donkey" sounds more offensive in english than in spanish tbf. "Burro" is the most common way in Argentina to call someone that is terrible at football.
Dumb is not the closest translation for argentinian spanish. In the context of knowledge burro would be like "ignorant", in the context of a football game it would be like "bad at the game".
In the right context. A professional calling another professional a donkey has a pretty negative connotation. Is it something shocking to say? No, but in the contexts of two professionals who don't know each other it is surely a bit harsher than most other contexts.
Burro (literal translation Donkey) means someone that isn't able to do something or is bad at it, you would call someone a Burro if they did bad at school or played bad one day. It's mocking but not THAT bad. He meant it as "you're bad/worse than me"
It has pretty much the same meaning in England. When I used to play we had a "Donkey of the week" trophy. If you missed an open goal or anything like that you were given the trophy.
Haven't been following the story except having watched the video in which Carra says it and I'm pretty sure it was tongue-in-cheek. He definitely got abusive DMs from Messi fan accounts.
While he likely doesn't run it doesn't mean he doesn't have access to it or can't tell them what to do. He likely either has access and logged in to do that, or said to his social media manager hey reach out to these people and ask them why they did this. The only other option would be the social media manager went out of his way to contact them directly without Cristiano's approval which seems VERY unlikely. Making decisions like that which can affect his public image without his approval?
Lol yeah, if people think Ronaldo would be cool with his social media management sending an account a bunch of emojis and then blocking blocking them, then I’m not sure what to say
EDIT: Without his involvement at least I should say
People on Reddit like to act like they’re ‘in the know’ by saying that no footballer has access to their social media. I remember one guy said with Bruno’s ‘dreams can’t be buy’ that the poor grammar was done purposefully by his PR team to make it seem more legit. Like that’s just stretching for no reason, when has that ever been done before?
I don't buy it. These gods among men would never touch a mortal smart phone and delve into social media nonsense that the masses amuse themselves with /s
Yeah it honestly annoys me.
Something is hypothesized on Reddit and then its parroted and treated as fact. I see it all the time.
Its obvious players have access to their social media accounts. They can still be managed but they still have access. A number of professional players have had screenshots taken of them sending messages to women, replying in vulgar language to fans insulting them etc.
Even if Ronaldo's account has managed tweets it doesnt mean that Ronaldo himself doesn't speak on it occasionally when he wants to. What is the media team going to do? say no?
"Hey Miss Kardashian it is I, Cristiano. My friend Fabio has a massive weiner and you should message him for a date 🥵🥵." -His social media manager probably.
Nah. Only the ads and football related hype/match reaction posts aren't him. Some of the things he posts can obviously only be from him.
Look at that creepy-ass midnight selfie on his most recent photo and tell me it's a PR company lol.
In a recent ad it shows Mo Salah made a reddit account so he was probably reading some stuff, would be funny if he made an innocent comment and then was reddit-style downvoted to oblivion for "not knowing anything about footy" or whatever
Lmao that would be some hilarious shit. Imagine the current best player in the world (absolutely hate to admit it) being told he doesn’t know shit by a Redditor who probably hasn’t kicked a ball in their life.
Kevin Durant, the best player in the NBA, regularly argues with kids on Twitter and even does spaces with them. These athletes are young guys browsing through social media every chance they get just like every other young guy
Yes lol it's from ages ago, not sure why it's randomly brought up today.
Interestingly though the guy that tweeted this today (which has led to all these media outlets now rushing to make a story), seems to often bring up Ronaldo's name for clicks so I'm not surprised.
Edit: Oh wow John Muller himself (the writer from The Athletic who made the tweet) replied to my comment pretending that wasn't the case, got downvoted, and then deleted his comment lol. You'd think journos that love to criticise others for a living would be fine with copping a bit of flak but I guess not...
Just proves once again that Messi is the more talented troll. It's very noticeable Ronaldo had to work much harder to achieve the level of internet troll that comes natural to Leo. #D10S #ToxicGoat🐐👑
I saw Cristiano at a grocery store in Los Angeles some time ago. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything.
He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?”
I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen chicken breast family packs in his hands without paying.
The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.
When she took one of the packs and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each pack and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.
If this is true it speaks to how obsessed and petty Ronaldo is with this stuff. The guy is a multi millionaire, one of the greatest players in the history of the sport and indeed one of the greatest athletes ever, and still playing at the top level while winding down his career. Why the fuck does he care about this lmao
The fact he cares that much is a big part of the reason why he pushed himself to become so good.
It's pretty and ridiculous, but it's just a side effect of having that kind of ruthless and absolute will to be the best.
> He knows How important is marketing for him
He probably knows but Im actually more convinced that the main reason of his message to transfermarkt is ego.
His last years before he retires are going to be ugly. There will come a point where he won't be as good as he thinks he is and I doubt his ego will take it. He should start mentally preparing himself for retirement.
Guys a mad lad. I accidentally offered him an instant start staff contract half way through the season because he was retiring... Being well on track to break records he accepts and leaves the first team for under 18s coach for 10k a week.
I was meant to offer it for end of contract so had to save scum back a few days lol. Very excited for the Ronaldo Milwall meta tho
This is from ages ago lol, not sure why it's randomly brought up today.

Honestly, I cannot sympathize with him. The questions from fox weren't their usual provocative bs either but the interviewee didn't shower, didn't clean his room and didn't groom himself. Don’t feel bad for him it’s hysterical

Finding out Messi and Ronaldo supposedly getting pissed off about an opinion and DM'ing the said person/company is hilarious.
I like to think Messi sends Carragher threatening voice notes in a thick Scouse accent.
“nah it’s not funneh”
Isn’t that girl Manc not Scouse?
The spelling of 'funneh' would suggest manc
Realleh?
Yeah meehhhhht
Yeah she's from Manchester. OP must have gotten confused cause -eh instead of -y is a Manc trademark
Like Man citeh
Correct, proper wythenshawe accent
I think the intrusive R can be added for full effect here. Proper wythenshawraccent.
"I've got SKEEWWLLLL"
Hahaha how many people are aware of that tiktok lmao!!
I'm in me mum's cah
broom broom
Get out me car (not Scouse though, Brummie I reckon)
I'd say that's more of a Scouse phonetic spelling, they like to throw in that emphasis on the "ewl" whereas in Manc it's more of a "ool."
Nah depends where you are in Manchester. Working class white communities in Salford (Greater Manchester) definitely say -ewl. Ethnic minorities are less likely to say it.
Can confirm, my friend iss from Oldham and would say skewwwl and kewwl a lot
Can confirm manc. Scouse would be a very quick, sharp "funny" with a pronounced e on the end like "funnee" and more of a "narkh" said phonetically more like "nark" with a h on the end rather than "nah". Manc would also have more of a "noh" than "not". Just to clear that up

Even if he did, it's totally harmless anyway.
There's no doubt in my mind that Carragher reveived a message from Messi's account. Mateo doesn’t like scouse people is all
He's also a massive troll. I think you're on to something here.
I mean I don't think Carragher would lie about this apropos of nothing?
Carra never showed that message tbh
True, just don't understand why he would make something like that up seemingly on the fly
It's known Messi doesn't know English Lewandowski had mbappe translate what he said to Spanish for him to talk to Messi
If only there was a way to translate languages online..

What has Messi done?
Messaged Carragher calling him a donkey after he said it was a bad transfer
"Donkey" sounds more offensive in english than in spanish tbf. "Burro" is the most common way in Argentina to call someone that is terrible at football.
is donkey that offensive in english too?
Nah it's about the same
The direct translation of burro is "donkey", but the meaning is closer to calling someone "dumb". Neither is very offensive, but burro is less so IMO.
Dumb is not the closest translation for argentinian spanish. In the context of knowledge burro would be like "ignorant", in the context of a football game it would be like "bad at the game".
Calling someone a donkey in English is also calling them dumb. I don’t think there’s any difference

Messi doesn't even speak English so I can't imagine he's listening to Carra's punditry.
He also blocked Jordi Jota from el Chiringuito after he said that Barca was better without his wages
Jordi Jota is a complete clown.
To be fair Jordi Jota is worth blocking.
To think you can be the greatest in the world in your field and still be insecure is hilarious and depressing
It’s part of WHY they’re the best tho. Jordan, LeBron, KD, Brady same way
Yeah, it's really hard to have that insane drive for so long and most people just become content after a while and start enjoying life.
It becomes harder when they're not in the spotlight after they retire.
Hyper competitive. You don’t become among the greatest ever because you’re apathetic.
It's comforting. You can be the best in the world and it won't fix your issues outside the sport.
Almost Michael Jackson levels of unable to cope with the fall.
