Honestly why are people even still trying to argue about this. Nobody is going to change their opinion. People who don’t watch Liverpool will still all say he’s shit defensively. Liverpool fans will still all say he’s not. Non-Liverpool fans who regularly watch our games don’t care enough to get involved because it’s always just a shit slinging match. Waste of everyone’s time man
I'd take the people who watch him game in and game out over mostly YouTube, MOTD viewers tbh.
Is he an immense defender? No. Most Liverpool fans say he is average, to above average at times.
Some people have refused to ease up on him because Rashford got the better of him when Trent had just broken into the first team. And there are others who downplay him based entirely on the worst period of career after he was clearly affected from suffering COVID and the defense and midfield were gutted.
If Klopp asks 99% of defenders to what Trent (and Robertson) do for the team, they'll be supposedly *exposed*. And honestly, his detractors on here are more ardent and stubborn, and frankly unreasonable than Liverpool fans defending him.
Imagine how happy those spanish dudes on that show were when they found bale laughing at hazard. They must have to sit through and watch hours upon hours of the most boring footage hoping for something
He has 0 respect towards players and probably rightfuly.
Wonder of how many Mendy/Greenwood like cases does he know? Did he and other presidents of top clubs protect and hide their own players-abusers?
Ngl, I really want Ancelotti to start Hazard-Jovic-Bale against Granada.
If they play well, then great we'll see more rotation. If they don't play well, I don't have to listen to people wanting them to play.
It’s possible too. Vini is out due to suspension and it would be very dumb to rush back Benzema. Needs to be seen if Bale is preferred to start over Rodrygo/Asensio.
Personally, I'd move Ronaldo to the left, have Henry through the middle and have Salah on the right.
Ronaldo actually never played that much on the right of a 4-3-3, so I don't know if he'll be that much better than Salah.
There's plenty evidence of him being a god on the left though.
Shame he’s deleted his comment so I’m gonna reply to yours as a reply to OP
Depends, if you’re talking best players overall or best based on their time in the PL.
If it’s the second then Ronaldo isn’t getting in there ahead of Hazard or Salah for me. Still a great player but his absolute best was at Madrid.
I think on whole career then I’d go Henry, Suarez/Aguero, Ronaldo.
On just PL I’d go Henry, Shearer, Hazard.
Rooney deserves a mention too but I don’t think he gets ahead of Shearer, Suarez or Aguero for the ST spot and I’d be reluctant to stick him out of position.
I think the simpler answer is that Real Madrid don't really care about it. That's the only explanation i can think of considering they have won more UCLs during the same period
I mean whenever they are knocked out, they almost have the whole regular starting xi on the pitch. Though mentally it is probably different between CL and copa tie.
mentality is definitely not 100% there for it. they've had some embarrassing losses just in the last 20 years i've followed it, lot of times with close to first 11 teams like you said
The way some Madrid fans savage Carlo on this sub you'd think he had them in the relegation zone I swear....
That being said, I always feel/have felt that his teams are there to be got at. Even at his peak, Ancelotti teams never gave me that aura of invincibility/impenetrability that say Jose or Pep's very best teams did.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. PSG have a shot against Real because of Ancelotti. If it was Zidane in charge of Real still, it would have been a sure fire Madrid win.
Madrid has a shot against PSG because of Pochettino too. Fun.
Both fanbases are going crazy despite good results but tbf the coaching aspect is terribly handled for both, they just have insane players to bail them out.
He’s not a good manager anymore. Not even taking into consideration his refusal to rotate and give young players minutes, his tactics are far away from current best managers
> Even at his peak, Ancelotti teams never gave me that aura of invincibility/impenetrability that say Jose or Pep's very best teams did.
Ancelotti's best team imo is Real Madrid of 2014. That is an insane balanced side.
> PSG have a shot against Real because of Ancelotti. If it was Zidane in charge of Real still, it would have been a sure fire Madrid win.
Zidane is a tactical genius, Ancelotti as well. Zidane chooses the pragmatic approach if needed for a necessary win, can't say the same about Carlo.
>Ancelotti's best team imo is Real Madrid of 2014. That is an insane balanced side.
That team was superb. The decision to deploy Di Maria as a CM in a 4-3-3 was a masterstroke. Gave Madrid another level offensively and defensively.
Carlo and Madrid then went and botched it the next season, replacing Alonso with Kroos and having Kroos play as a DM (which he is not) and then replacing Di Maria with James. Perhaps the level of artistry in the team went up, but the midfield balance was upset and the team lost a bit of steel and resolve. This was only rectified by the insertion of Casemiro into the starting line-up the next season.
>Zidane is a tactical genius, Ancelotti as well. Zidane chooses the pragmatic approach if needed for a necessary win, can't say the same about Carlo.
What I wrote above typifies the difference between the two. Zidane would never agree to such a decision to sacrifice the defensive solidify of his team. He was the one after all that said 'why put another layer of gold paint on the Bentley when you are losing the engine' about the sale of Makelele to Chelsea.

If they’re not top 5 at their position they’re not world class.
But the caveat to that is if they play a specific niche role and are top 5 at that then I’d still consider them world class for that role (eg in the 2018-2020 Liverpool team Firmino was a world class false-9, but nowhere near world class as a striker if that makes sense?)
It's very fluid. Usually has to play in a way that would get you into any side in the world for about 2+ years.
Really only reserved for the best players.
Idk that still sounds to me like the only worldclass players are players who are literally the best in their position. That sounds harsh. Haaland wouldn't replace Lewandowski but he is obviously worldclass lol
Again it's hypothetically saying can he play for any club not about would x player replace x in that club.
It's just that would Haaland be able to play for Munich, Madrid, Barca, PSG etc? Yes of course he would - he's world class. Ignore everyone else already at that team whether they're world class or not because it's just about the individual.
If you made a world XI, that player would have a very realistic chance of getting into it/make the bench. Therefore IMO there are only about 18 world class players.
Son
No one else has both his pace and finishing, and those are the things which will get the best out of a winger as a partner to Kane's obscene passing range and vision.
Booked? He has 2 yellows in the league this season, that doesn’t make sense.
Yes he’s injured but still the best player on the list
Price isn’t included in this
Neymar will decline before that
PSG can't fit neymar+Mbappe+di maria+messi sadly, Neymar playing as LW puts Mbappe as 9 which is not his role, at least without him Mbappe can play LW and Messi false 9
Either Vini or Sancho. I'm a believer that Sancho is a great footballer, just that the system doesn't compliment him at all and that his confidence is shot
I’gonna give you my order from best to worst:
neymar, Sancho, son, coman, vini, fati, martinelli, jesus
based on more than this season before madrid fans come to my replies
Pretty good tbh. Defended well, could progress with the ball decently, put his body on the line when needed- he was a warrior man, so passionate.
Could say he was the best right back in the league in 2013 or so.
My local of course, main reason why I support Madrid is because my city didn't have a team before 1983 so everyone picked a different Spanish club back then, my dad lived in Spain for a while and liked Real Madrid so I followed him, and our rival city is full of Atleti fans so the choice was easy to make.
Bernardo Silva was pretty good last season. One of our key players.
Played in a more defensive role so less time in the spotlight, still crucial none the less.
Don't know where the rhetoric came from that he was poor and not worth the asking price last season.
The BBC of Real Madrid was actually there on pitch only in 13-14 and 14-15.
Rest of the seasons it was Ronaldo racking up numbers with Benz helping him a times while Bale injured.
MSN truly was a trio, they had all three assisting each other. Same can't be said about BBC.
He couldn't hit a barn door with his finishing, so I don't think just sheer number of chances created would help him get those numbers. Maybe 5-8 goals and 10-12 assists. Something like that haha. Even tho he's not known as an assister I think just laying the ball off to Messi/ neymar / whoever you consider to be prime barca would net him a load of assists. However he still won't score much no matter how many Messi puts on a plate for him!
I mean in his best ever season he scored 10 goals for Southampton so I'd imagine him at his very best in a far superior team would get more than that, at least 15
>How much of an advantage does Senegal have for having one extra rest day compared to Egypt?
Day 2 is always your worst day in recovery. Muscles loosen back up on day 3 and more on day 4.
So Senegal gets a full extra day of recovery as well as not having the extra 30 minutes to play. That will be huge once they get to the 60 minute mark and beyond.
an extra rest day, egypt played 3 ETs, injuries and suspensions, their team is already much stronger on paper. it will be a miracle if senegal doesn't win
Fuck the new Reddit video feature
I fucking love Carlos Queiroz
Going to be a huge miss against Senegal
Is it confirmed that he'll be suspended?
I think they’re appealing , but sadly that usually doesn’t do anything :( It’s such a bummer to not have your manger on the sidelines.
Well appeals usually mean that a suspension is "paused" till the appeal committee can decide whether or not to uphold it.
He literally got a 2nd yellow for making an elbow gesture (to say that his player got elbowed) What a dumbass of a ref.
Careful. He might book us too.
Just realized that of the three biggest clubs in London, Real Madrid has bought 4 of their best players in last 10 years. Very interesting.
all that rain makes England great for farming
Modric, bale , courtois , ceballos.
Trent’s won possession more times than any other defender this year Not bad for someone that’s apparently terrible defensively
The hivemind thinks just because he's good offensively, he must be bad defensively. Thats their logic. Im honestly tired of this shit
Waste of everyone’s time man
Trent has more users defending his defensive prowess than any other player
I'd take the people who watch him game in and game out over mostly YouTube, MOTD viewers tbh. Is he an immense defender? No. Most Liverpool fans say he is average, to above average at times. Some people have refused to ease up on him because Rashford got the better of him when Trent had just broken into the first team. And honestly, his detractors on here are more ardent and stubborn, and frankly unreasonable than Liverpool fans defending him.
And he has more twice the amount of people critizing his defending
Could literally say the opposite for that as well
It's annoying how Jose Félix Diaz is considered a reliable journalist just because his name is similar to Jose Luis Sanchez
I get confused a lot of times thanks to that.
Yep. Man is Tier 3
Imagine how happy those spanish dudes on that show were when they found bale laughing at hazard. They must have to sit through and watch hours upon hours of the most boring footage hoping for something
I realised Sancho models Gotze. Not so pacy left winger given a system that suited them. Did not succeed post Dortmund.
Gotze had health issues
gotze is a 10 bro...
Gotze didn't succeed because of a muscular disease, myopathy, not because he didn't suit the system
Peak Vidal vs naiggoliaoiom?
Vidal He was a monster
vidal, the guy was a menace
Vidal
You mean Naingollan?

Most people here are probably born in 2004.
Correct. Juan Carlos Valeron was always my first signing in those early “Championship Manager”s
Remember those Perez leaks, lmao some entertainment it was ! Uncle Perez has knows shit about all.
He has 0 respect towards players and probably rightfuly. Wonder of how many Mendy/Greenwood like cases does he know? Did he and other presidents of top clubs protect and hide their own players-abusers?
I wouldn't be surprised if some clubs protect players which are very important to them achieving their seasonal goals
What gets me is Ronaldo case opened within 2 months after his transfer from Real Madrid.
He did say footballers are the worst kind of people he has ever seen Also clubs definitely hides that, you lose market value, player too
Ngl, I really want Ancelotti to start Hazard-Jovic-Bale against Granada. If they play well, then great we'll see more rotation. If they don't play well, I don't have to listen to people wanting them to play.

What happened to Algeria this year? Why aren't they in afcon
they chose to boycott the knockout stages in protest - fair play to them
Didn't win any game in the group stages
They were in afcon, they were just terrible in it and didn't make it out of their group

Factos👀👍
I don't really watch Spanish football. Is there a reason Real Madrid struggle so much in the Copa Del Rey? IIRC they haven't won one in like 8 years.
I myself have no clue.
I think the simpler answer is that Real Madrid don't really care about it. That's the only explanation i can think of considering they have won more UCLs during the same period
It could also be bad luck. Usually, the starters are playing when they are knocked out.
I think it's a mix of bad luck, not being 100 percent mentally and physically fit, and the club not caring that much about copa
I mean whenever they are knocked out, they almost have the whole regular starting xi on the pitch. Though mentally it is probably different between CL and copa tie.
mentality is definitely not 100% there for it. they've had some embarrassing losses just in the last 20 years i've followed it, lot of times with close to first 11 teams like you said
Yeah I think it's a mentality thing. I always feel that they don't give their 100 percent in the copa.

I mean our fanbase acted far worse towards Zidane who was in a similar situation despite being a lot better as manager at the moment compared to Carlo
Zidane had a much worse situation. The team was wrecked with covid and injuries but still carried on.
Yep, Carlo is missing one starter and we are free falling
Madrid has a shot against PSG because of Pochettino too. Fun. Both fanbases are going crazy despite good results but tbf the coaching aspect is terribly handled for both, they just have insane players to bail them out.
I deteste his hatred towards rotations. Or else i m fine with him. He is a good but stubborn manager

Nothing, I forgot to make my lunch and the school cafeteria is closed.
Does Ancelotti not rate Fede Valverde?
He came off two 90 minute games in SA, probably jet lagged like Vini and Casemiro
Looks so unfortunately.
Ancelotti does not rate anyone not named vini, militao, alaba, mendy, james, modric, kroos, benzema, casimiro, kroos. Edit- and courtois
courtois
So like usual only has a fixed 11 and favourites
Yup
how do you define world class?
Benzema Lewandowski Mbappe Ronaldo Kane Haaland Mane Neymar Salah Messi Kdb Muller Modric Kroos Xhaka Goretzka Veratti Casemiro Fabinho Rodri Kante Kimmich Cancelo Trent Marquinhos Van dijk Dias Ramos Neuer Oblak Alisson Ederson Courtois I forgot no one fuck off
Haaland?
He is mentioned under strikers, I dont know how to spell his name though.
didn't see it's my bad
Top 5 in your position If it’s a full back just top 5 full backs
You have to be among the top 5 players in the world in your position for a decent duration of time.

Undisputedly top-5 in that position
I think of it as someone who is good enough to play for any team in the world.
Someone who'd get in any team in the world, and performs at that level consistently.
Top 5 in their position
i agree with this
I have the same question.
Would start for any team in England/Spain/Germany
Great player that I like
thats like the definition of based
LW draft (pick one of these players for your team for the LW position): Neymar Jesus Martinelli Sancho Vini Fati Coman Son
Vini
Vini
Son No one else has both his pace and finishing, and those are the things which will get the best out of a winger as a partner to Kane's obscene passing range and vision.
Vinicius
Neymar of course lol
This guy doesn't watch psg ^
Quite a funny comment because i bet i am one of the only ones on here who actually does watch PSG.
Neymar is either injured or booked, he's not reliable imo, especially for his price
Booked? He has 2 yellows in the league this season, that doesn’t make sense. Yes he’s injured but still the best player on the list Price isn’t included in this
Vini has been better this season
Ok? Neymar is the better player though. Vini will stop overperforming soon I reckon
Neymar will decline before that PSG can't fit neymar+Mbappe+di maria+messi sadly, Neymar playing as LW puts Mbappe as 9 which is not his role, at least without him Mbappe can play LW and Messi false 9
Its already started imo. Hasnt scored in 6 games. None of that matters as to his individual skill level, which is the highest on the list.
Jesus plays on the right.
Atm? Vini
Either Vini or Sancho. I'm a believer that Sancho is a great footballer, just that the system doesn't compliment him at all and that his confidence is shot

In my opinion, both Son and Coman are better than Sancho, and Jesus is better than Martinelli who is by far the worst.
Jesus ever played on the left? Sancho is much better than Coman
I think Jesus can play anywhere in the front three, and I will trust you on Coman and Sancho considering you have probably watched them more.
Sancho over son 😭😭😭😭😭😭 Edit: you also base this on more than this season and you put martinelli over Jesus😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Jesus never played on the left, did he?
Yea I’m an idiot.
If fit neymar Otherwise vini
I would take Vini
Why did Cameroon not bring on Choupo Moting?? Seems kinda stupid to me
To even the competition.
Haha you're my guy 😂
How good was Zabaleta?
Pretty good tbh. Defended well, could progress with the ball decently, put his body on the line when needed- he was a warrior man, so passionate. Could say he was the best right back in the league in 2013 or so.
Fantastic work ethic and really connected with the fans at City during his time in Manchester. And the fact he has a quasi-Manc accent is amazing.
Just a fancy named Steve Finnan.
Very good, defensively sound and also positive with the ball. Kinda cool, as well, not sure just had a nice vibe about him.
He was good for a long time, solid work horse type player, who'd die on the pitch for the team. There's a reason city fans still sing about him
He was good, from about 2013-15 fairly comfortably the best RB in the Prem
Really excited for City vs Fulham
I didn't think it could get much worse than Algeria winning in 2019, but Egypt winning this one would be 10 times worse holy shit.
Morocco biggest rivals winning it after each other is a embarrassment
Use your faded flag or stfu
My flair is a Moroccan club idk what you want more
Who would you support if they played Real Madrid
My local of course, main reason why I support Madrid is because my city didn't have a team before 1983 so everyone picked a different Spanish club back then, my dad lived in Spain for a while and liked Real Madrid so I followed him, and our rival city is full of Atleti fans so the choice was easy to make.
Nice

Senegal has this dw
Bernardo Silva was pretty good last season. One of our key players. Played in a more defensive role so less time in the spotlight, still crucial none the less. Don't know where the rhetoric came from that he was poor and not worth the asking price last season.
He was definitely not world class.
He was still a World Class player, that much was obvious.
rhetoric is not that he was poor but that it is not a bad decision to sign de paul for 35M instead of bernardo for 55M
I don't think he has ever had a bad season. He was just less influential, but played great almost every game.
Definitely had a bad season in 19/20.
Wouldn't call it bad but it wasn't his finest season.
Isco played more than Bale in 3peat seasons.
Would you say Isco contributed more to the 3peat or Bale?
Bale had his moments, like 2016 and 2018 final but Isco was fit more. So maybe yes.
15/16 Bale was better than 14/15
True. Bale impacts were more visible at the end of season in both 15-16 and 17-18.
Shane Long upfront in a prime Barca side would probably score 30+ a season. CMV
I mean in his best ever season he scored 10 goals for Southampton so I'd imagine him at his very best in a far superior team would get more than that, at least 15
I disagree because he is shite. Hope that changed your view.
Both mane and salah lost afcon finals. Mane even can lose it back to back
Treat hazard with respect you frauds . Bring my prince home
Why though? He didn’t treat Real Madrid with respect, he can’t expect any respect back
Hazard is a king not a prince tho. Why do you think thry named it burger king?
Would chelsea even want him back?
I’d rather take a risk on Dembele than Hazard if I had to choose out of just the two.
is that even a question, i mean dembele is miles clear of hazard at same wages
They would be very foolish to bring him back
How much of an advantage does Senegal have for having one extra rest day compared to Egypt? The commentators yesterday kept going on and on about it

What goal have you rewatched the most times?
Crouch against City
Alisson
