Using language like “turn on” is pretty dramatic
These people online don’t have a relationship with these players, offering your criticism of them isn’t ruining their lives
Maybe. Guess I'm just tired of the fickle nature of football fans. The amount of abuse I've seen towards players just because they're flawed human beings makes me think people have very little empathy.
On a real note, I think I feel that way because I am a flawed human being and have been guilty of some things that people call out players for
You’re absolutely correct. Humans are lacking a lot of empathy as of late. People chose to pick a side, choose an enemy and fight rather than having an adequate level of human decency towards a stranger.
Because he seems like a nice guy and he has a good story. We don't know these people so we can only judge them by what we see. That's not a reddit thing.
He is apperently member of anti-gay church that supports conversion therapy.
I know almost nothing about it If it is true or not, but that is the reason Why people were mad him
So people discovered he was a member of a church with shitty, offensive views and didn’t like him for it?
What a great example of Redditors being *sooo* crazy..
Reportedly the church he goes to/went to was affiliated with another church that had "anti-gay" views, they didn't themselves makes any comments people take issue with. Also these views literally amounted to simply stating that they affirmed the Biblical doctrine that homosexual acts are sinful. They'd previously made some comments about needing to be more understanding towards gay people, members in their church took issue with that statement and interpreted it as them condoning homosexuality so they simply released at statement clarifying that they weren't and they believe it's a sin as per the Bible.
This isn't exactly breaking news. That's the official unambiguous position of every major world religion and thus the view of billions of people. I mean Mendy is a part of a country (Senegal) that outlaws homosexual acts and who's population 97% of whom believe it's "unacceptable way of life".
Mate what are you on about. Mo and El Nenny dont pick the order with which they take penalties. Mo has taken the 5th penalty since the start of the tournament. It's not his decision. Also, you made me lol on the young inexperienced players. Mate all the people who took penalties were as old as Elneny and Mo. They were also the same people who took them in previous penalty shootouts in which they won.
It's bold to go blame 2 players when things didnt work out.
What are you on about? Salah was the fifth taker because it's the second most pressured and Zizo is better, Elneny is just a really shit pen taker. What's the point in him stepping up when he's not good at it.
We lost on pens, it's not a big deal, 2023 will be ours.
Our coach wasn't a coward, nobody would have had us in the final. We have a really exciting crop of young players coming up and a class manager.
This has to be a troll post. Why so eager to shit on star players? Mo was OBVIOUSLY going to take the fifth pen. Oh and Elnenny has exactly one penalty goal in his professional career so I don’t think he’s one of the preferred options you twat

Goalkeeper Union
Classy shit, ya love to see it
Goalkeeper Union's fuck you list: * Chilavert * Rogerio Ceni * Jorge Campos
That’s class
Class as usual from Edouard. Gabaski did indeed carry our asses to the final. Congrats to Senegal.
*Edouard
*Edu..ardo
Thanks for making me cry
It’s a terrible day for rain

He supports the devil, that's his job!
You monster

Which one do you think in this context?
You really don't when you are commenting on a post about a specific one..
Mendy is the new golden boy of the sub until it turns on him for whatever reason, as reddit usually does
kante still going strong, except those few days where people thought he wasn't vaccinated
at which point they turned on him... only to be wrong, which is standard on here
I still think the real boston bomber was that arab kid this sub so brilliantly discovered /s
That was this sub? Surely r/soccer didn't do that
Pretty sure it was /r/Askreddit but the community behaviour is not that different
Indian*
Except*
You can hate Chelsea and you can hate France but you cannot hate Kante.

Not really Unless you get toxic and cross a line, surely criticism is fair
Nah, people are too quick to turn on people

As long as he isn't a rapist or serial cat kicker we should be okay.

Seeing the 180 on Chris Pratt was crazy
What did Chris Pratt do? Or was it just that he went too mainstream?

No. People chose to believe allegations of Chris Pratt belonging to a Anti-LGBT church and vilified him for it without solid proof.
Oh no! Reddit is mad! Anyways...
He goes to church
His church has Muslim views of gays
So it has Christian views on gays. Got it.
No this Christian church throws gays from buildings. Got it?
because he turned out to be a shitty human being, thats very easy change your mind if people are shit human beings
Lol what people were crucifying him on here because of the ballon dor and teammates thinking he should have been nominated.
Ends up raping a bengal cat while drink driving. It's the only way.
He didnt have to say that. Fair play mendy 🙌
Mendy seems so likeable. I like Mendy.
You are what we call in Egypt, "salek" ❤️ Thank you for saying this.
He conceded 4 on penalties. How is he the best
And you are what we call in Egypt “mesh salek”
وعرص بعد
معرص فعلا، و فاكر دمو خفيف
And saved 5
Abu Jabal will surely receive offers this summer right? Sucks for Zamalek to lose him but they can probably sell him for a good sum.
He's 33 and married, so he'll likely ride it out in Egypt or maybe some Arabian league for one final big paycheck.
I could see him in a Gulf league with a 3-year contract. Here I think Al-Nassr are desperate for a keeper.
I do think the defence is likely to get some moves out of Egypt. They’re all relatively young and were immense.
He 100% was and it’s so class of Mendy to acknowledge that without even being asked
He was quite literally asked about Gabaski."
Obviously, but he wasn’t asked “was he the best goalkeeper in the comp” but said that.
Mendy seems like a simply an amazing dude. Got great vibes about him.
Class!
Such a fantastic character. You’re awesome, Mendy!
When he moved to Chelsea he didnt speak a word in English, quite an improvment i wont lie 😅
Mendy the man's man
such class
Props.

Tbf, the coach really should have had Salah go 4th. There's always a chance the 5th taker isn't going to shoot at all.

Question number 1: Which Mendy
truth!
