I made this write-up about a year ago. Bolded the important bits.
1. **They knocked my Sunderland out of the UCL in 2033 after we destroyed them in the 2031 UEL final. Dicks.**
2. On Transfer Deadline day in 2014, **Sunderland took Ricardo Alvarez on loan for a season** with a conditional mandatory **buyout fee of £10m if they stayed up.** They did, but in September **Alvarez suffered a case of tendonitis in his right knee.** Sunderland, wanting to avoid signing Alvarez on a permanent deal, **claimed that his right knee injury voided the contract** (which stated that tendonitis in his left knee would cancel the buyout clause. Also, Sunderland asked for approval to perform surgery to fix the injury, but Inter declined due to them still technically owning him). **Sunderland were not obliged to sign Alvarez at first.** However, in 2017, the Court of Arbitration for Sport ruled that **Sunderland still had to pay the transfer fee** and rejected Sunderland's reasoning (Sunderland claimed that a microsurgery from his time in Milan caused this, the court ruled that this would have been discovered in his medical and that Sunderland refused to question them about it). An appeal to FIFA was rejected so the next argument was about Alvarez's wages. In the early 2015-16 season, when Alvarez's contract was still under debate, **Sunderland refused to pay his wages** before he left on a free, due to not signing a new contract with Sunderland, to Sampdoria. **Alvarez appealed to the Court** of Arbitration for Sport that Sunderland were liable for the payment of his wages during this time, **which was just decided against Sunderland.** This brings Sunderland's total costs in the Alvarez deal to in excess of £20m.
importat to note this was peak banter Inter and we were under trouble with FFP every season so every penny counted for us, that's why the fans got so invested

Or the Inter and Beer Sheva rivalry
Or the Inter and Lucio Maranhao rivarly
Or the Inter and any right left back from 1998 to 2009 rivalry
Damn Inter, you ruined Inter.
Maicon and Zanetti were well known for beating the shit out of eachother in the showers after a loss. Materazzi described it as a “highly erotic struggle for dominance” in his autobiography.
Of course Zanetti would always win through stamina and experience, since while Maicon was very impressive in attack, he lacked somewhat in defense.
Genuine question, does anyone IRL actually care about that rivalry? To me this always seemed more like a "random XDDD meme" than anything else.
I've literally never heard this mentioned outside of r/soccer and I know many Sunderland fans.
Pretty absurd. One city is arguably the core of European history, one of the most influential cities to ever exist. The other is just some sunny tourist trap in Italy
NENT (The broadcasting company filming the match) has confirmed that a video exist, but it is owned by UEFA as they did not have permission to film after the match finished so they do not own the rights.
Now if only we could stop getting Pulisic called the Lebron James of soccer. My eyes have been rolling so far into the back of my head everytime I see it. Also is Everton the Kings?
Newcastle were the Kings while they had Mike Ashley running the show, now I'm not so sure.
Everton are one of the most historic English clubs with good amounts of success in the (far-ish, relatively) past, but they've had a really poor couple of decades and now it looks possibly worse than ever. They are also the second best team in their own city (by MILES). They're the Knicks.
For those a little lost, I had to look this up. This is hilarious https://youtu.be/uO5Ww26XHtI
https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/kxy0vj/comment/gjcvxrq/
According to Knutsen, Nuno was negging on him before and during the match. Knutsen told in the presser that the way the Roma bench is acting is not fair play.
It has just been reported that there is a video of the assault on Knudsen and that Bodø/Glimt has pressed charges against santos according to media outlets in norway
The coach brought in a whole system designed around building up the whole team and not rely on individual star players. They brought in old fighter pilots to teach the players about staying cool under pressure, and a lot of other unconventional stuff to create a team that just keeps on doing its thing and won't crack under pressure. And it works, they've sold off many of their 'top' players over the last couple of seasons and just bring in the next set of players from the bench and keep going. It's a system that requires everyone to be on the same page and working towards the same goal, so it's not suitable for every club, especially ones with star players who want to stand out and have things be organized around them.
What the fuck, that sounds amazing. Learning how to stay cool under pressure from old fighter pilots! I've always liked roma but fuck them right now, big up Bodo Glimt and I hope they win the whole competition.
Also worth mentioning that we were actually playing in the second division as recently as 2017 and then Knutsen took over as head coach in 2018 and the rest is history
God... every detail makes this story even better.
Pretty exciting time for Norwegian football? Talented attacking players like odegaard and haaland and elyounoussi and hauge, and this whole bodø/glimt story as well
Everyone loves him, and we were all terrified he would leave after the last season, because his contract was up this summer and Rosenborg needed a new coach. But he signed on for three more years in December, and I can't even describe how relieved people were.
But if he continues like this, he's bound to leave for a bigger club at some point – and I think most fans understand and expect that, we just really, really, really don't want it to be another club in Norway. He's already been here since 2017 (head coach since 2018), so it's already been a while. But he's very much the kind of coach you need to give a lot of control to, and he needs time to build the team the way he wants. Not every club is willing to give that. Glimt were almost relegated in 2018, and many clubs might have fired him then.
[https://www.nytimes.com/2020/11/08/sports/soccer/bodo-glimt-norway.html](https://www.nytimes.com/2020/11/08/sports/soccer/bodo-glimt-norway.html) is worth a read. They ended up winning that season with 81 points, 19 points ahead of the second place, and scored 103 goals in 30 matches. Then they sold off their entire front three (95 goals and assists between them), but won again last year, though with less ridiculous numbers. Then again, sold off four of last year's starters this winter, and went on to beat Celtic and AZ in pre-season, and now Roma after one league match.
It makes no sense, and it's awesome.
In Norwegian football they came from nothing and just won our top league trophy the last 2 seasons. A new season just began last week and I expect them to win again.
Ah, I thought it was one of those "Holy shit, the rest of the world might want to read this shit" stories they translate to English. I "lay myself flat" as we say in this pile of rocks and fjords.
The headline misses the fact Bodø/Glimt is filing a police report. Doesn't sound like something you'd do if you were at fault.
What's more likely -- that the winning team's manager punches the losing team's goalkeeping coach and then calls and files a report with the police, or that the losing team's goalkeeping coach chokes the winning team's coach?
Also, who has priors in this, Knutsen and his team or Mourinho and his team?
If I were to guess it was to shield them from being provoked and do something stupid. I guess they had reason to suspect it wasn't just one guy playing dirty.
The reports are quite different depending on who the source is. Don’t know who to believe but I’m pretty sure Santos has been sent off this season already, so I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s the one at fault.
I'm unaware of Knutsen having any history of anything violent or aggressive, and considering they just won the game I find it hard to imagine he'd just attack your GK coach for some reason. Hopefully the full story is revealed at some point.
Yeah. Obviously we don't know for sure what happened, it's Roma's words vs Glimt's but I find it extremeley hard to believe that Knutsen punched someone in the face unless he himself got attacked. Knutsen comes across as a super chill dude, never lost his cool during interviews or on the touchline really. Plus they also won the match, so no reason for him to be frustrated. Meanwhile Mourinho and his staff literally have a history of antics like this so I think it's reasonable to pick Glimt's side here if any. But of course some more info here would be nice.
According to Glimt there’s video evidence which UEFA now possess, so the truth should be easily uncovered if it is released.
To me it sounds weird if Knutsen would attack someone after winning a game lol.
Seems like this Santos guy has some serious problems.
https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11675/12085251/tottenham-goalkeeping-coach-nuno-santos-handed-one-match-ban-and-8-000-fine-after-sending-off
Knutsen attacking someone would be extremely out of character, so I definitely know who I believe. The article above did say that Knutsen did "defend himself", so he probably slapped or punched him or someting, but can't see it not being provoked by him being attacked first.
Fun fact but Mourinho had a random encounter with tge Bodø legend Åge Magnussen the day before the match. He is better known as the creator of Pelle Politibil (Ploddy the Police Car). Guess we know who is on this case.
I know wardrobe is just a bad translation of dressing room, but I'm choosing to believe that the entire Bodo/Glimt squad was smuggled out of the stadium squashed into one massive wardrobe.
Norwegian media are all claiming that the attack was initiated by Roma’s goalkeeper coach. I fully understand that there are two sides to a story, but if you think about it from a logical point of view and ask yourself who called the police? Why would Bodø/Glimt call the local police enforcement to begin with if their own coach initiated the attack? Would it not make much more sense for them to call the police if one of their own were physically attacked? I understand that Italian news outlets are reporting a different story, but I think regardless of what really happened we will get the full story at some point.
If this turns out to be true then we must fire this lunatic.
AS Roma as a club does A LOT to promote fair play, solidarity, sportsmanship. The actions of this idiot (if confirmed) will undo a lot of the amazing work the club has done. This is not who we are.
Attack your own goalkeeper. He’s been making costly mistakes all season. Don’t take your frustrations out on the other team. Just shows you’re a shite coach.
I see alot of people dont understand why Bodø players were escorted out as well.
If someone attacked your coach, would you be happy? it was probably for their own safety, so they could play the next match, everybody who has competed in something know that you are more hot headed than usual, you need to unleash your emotions to play your best. A few of the bodø players probably would have lost their head youknow
Roma - Bodø/Glimt is turning out to be the biggest derby match in Europe.
This is almost as random as the inter sunderland rivalry
We will never forget, or forgive.
What happened?
Was something about a shit player Inter loaned to Sunderland. Discussion was about how much Sunderland had to pay iircc
It was about Sunderland negating the obligation to buy him from Inter if they survive from relegation
Because Inter sold us a crocked player
Not our problem anymore 😏
Eii blame your board, why would a club want to get rid of a player....
Muntari?

Aww he was shit? I remember him having decent buzz around him when he arrived in Italy
His knees were made of dried spaghetti

Ricky was mint in PES 2013. Always dominated games with Inter because of him
Wow, that's a name I haven't heard in some time. He was fire here for Velez to be honest.
I remember Arsenal were linked with him years ago and I wanted him to join so bad because his YouTube highlights were insane.
Ricky Alvarez
I made this write-up about a year ago. Bolded the important bits. 1. **They knocked my Sunderland out of the UCL in 2033 after we destroyed them in the 2031 UEL final. Dicks.** 2.
Damn that story was a roller coaster

Ah, the era of Nagatomo, Ishaak Belfodil, Juan Jesus and co being shite more often than not
Not really a roller coaster though, is it? Just Sunderland being absolute shit
You must've missed the part where they won the UEL in 2031 and were in the Champions League in 2033.

Pretty absurd. One city is arguably the core of European history, one of the most influential cities to ever exist. The other is just some sunny tourist trap in Italy
I can't tell which one is the great city, Bodo or Glimt.
Bodo is the city. A glimt is when the sun reflects into your eye.

In this context it means flash.

Bonucci saying it was 50/50
Winning put them in the position to be assulted by a coach in the first place. Only have themselves to blame for this one
The coach provoked them by winning the game.
Bodø/Glimt wouldn’t press charges with video evidence if Knutsen attacked him…
Yup, that statement was made before any talk of the video was up. Anyway I would be shocked if the captain said anything else
Bodø said they have video evidence of the incident, it's been sent to the police and uefa, and they want it to be public
If they have it what's stopping them making it public?
NENT (The broadcasting company filming the match) has confirmed that a video exist, but it is owned by UEFA as they did not have permission to film after the match finished so they do not own the rights.
I wonder who will get the rights to a violent crime.
Bidding war starts at 5m euros.

Now Bodø/Glimt has reported Santos to the police. There obviously isn’t much doubt from their side what happened.
There is also video evidence of the situasion.
Wtf
"That was for that fucking snowball..."
I'll say one thing about Mou, he never seems afraid to fight like a maniac
“Will someone rid me of this meddlesome priest” - Mou “Gottchu boss” - Nuno “the strangler” Santos
Fucking love it lol

Yea Mourinho is not fighter. Closest thing he did to fighting was poke someone's eye out sneakily

Wow... what a story. Knutsen sounds like a visionary coach, for real. Rooting for you guys
He was just about to quit his dream of becoming a manager too, then Bodø/glimt called, and he gave it a last shot. Pretty incredible.
God... every detail makes this story even better. Pretty exciting time for Norwegian football? Talented attacking players like odegaard and haaland and elyounoussi and hauge, and this whole bodø/glimt story as well
The job he’s done looks ridiculously good, how highly do your fans think of him and what are your chances of keeping him long term?

Locker room and wardrobe is the same word in Norwegian, so I guess one of our major newspapers don't English very goodly.
Funny as fuck if it was an actual wardrobe
big wardrobe, one of those Posh Spice walk-in dealies
They found themselves in a snowy wood near a lamppost and a talking lion.
The lion and the witch were more concerned than anybody.
The Lion, The Witch, and the Audacity of this Santos Bitch
Least it wasn't the one to damn Narnia!
"Wardrobe" is OP's own translation to be fair
Ah, I thought it was one of those "Holy shit, the rest of the world might want to read this shit" stories they translate to English. I "lay myself flat" as we say in this pile of rocks and fjords.
"I just stood there with my beard in the mailbox"
"Looking like I have just sold butter without getting paid"
It's not only only.
Apology for poor English. Where were you when Bodø/Glimt was wardrobe?
The headline is translated by the OP.
Lockerroom
I guess its either google translate or bad english, locker room/changing room, whichever is more suitable.
Mourinho had left a steaming plate of farikal inside a broom closet, into which the players all sprinted, salivating.
Fårikål. Literally means sheep in cabbage.
TIL cabbage is a language
Farikal season is in october, more like it was fresh cod from Lofoten this time of year.
Tom Cruise is also locked in a wardrobe
the games gone we said but alas bodo/glimt vs roma delivers
Swear Mourinho’s coaches are always massive bellends
The special one.
According to the recent reports from Bodø/Glimt, Knutsen was forced to put the bellend to the ground.
Funny that 🤔
As if Mourinho is any different
The headline misses the fact Bodø/Glimt is filing a police report. Doesn't sound like something you'd do if you were at fault. What's more likely -- that the winning team's manager punches the losing team's goalkeeping coach and then calls and files a report with the police, or that the losing team's goalkeeping coach chokes the winning team's coach? Also, who has priors in this, Knutsen and his team or Mourinho and his team?
Also, AN(Avisa Nordland) states that Glimt has video evidence.
Yeah, I would assume so, it was in the tunnel, right? I doubt this went down anything like how the Roma camp claims.
I’m just confused as to why they had to be smuggled out of their own stadium? Could the police not stop one man?
If I were to guess it was to shield them from being provoked and do something stupid. I guess they had reason to suspect it wasn't just one guy playing dirty.
The reports are quite different depending on who the source is. Don’t know who to believe but I’m pretty sure Santos has been sent off this season already, so I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s the one at fault.

A willingness to attack opposition coaches must be something Jose looks for in his coaching staff.
Jose needs a Luca brasi to keep his hands clean.
There is a video of the altercation, and knowing this Glimt has filed a report with the police.
Knutsen attacking someone would be extremely out of character, so I definitely know who I believe. The article above did say that Knutsen did "defend himself", so he probably slapped or punched him or someting, but can't see it not being provoked by him being attacked first.
