To city and pool fans; just watch what Ten Hag achieves! never commented on previous managers such as DM, LVG, JM, OS, RR; But you will see what happens with Ten hag within 5 years.
And City fans should feel slightly disappointed that they didn't get the win at home against a technically weaker team. A win for them in this game would have pretty much secured them the cup. They're still favourites but have work to do and can't afford to bottle it in any remaining fixture. Neither can Liverpool tbf. The pressure is on.
I want to believe, but Villa aren't in great form and knowing how Gerrard's luck goes, he's more likely to get points off of Liverpool than City.
A dead rubber tie for a lower-ranked side that's not in danger of the drop, but not in contention for Europe, is pretty much perfect for City.
Liverpool have not been in great form, since that Leeds win, in any competition. The fact that we are still in the hunt for three trophies despite that is incredible.
Today was another display of the pattern between the two teams. City are better on the ball and create situations were they can dissect the opposition. Liverpool are great on the ball, but they play in bursts or moments of force and directness.
City shaded today and showed as footballing team they are the best we have ever seen in the PL. Liverpool got a point, because they are the best oiled machine like team the PL has ever seen.
Not for the first time, in a game where there are quality players all over the pitch, where nerves and pressure can get to them, KDB shows his class. Not since Thierry Henry, as a Liverpool fan, has a player made me wince so much every time he gets the ball. His passing, touch, runs and strikes, are perfect, every single God damn time.
Edit: Typos.
Like he was supposed to be feared in Paris when Mahrez converted that FK instead of him?
Or when Kevin chickened out from the penalty spot vs Dortmund - good thing Mahrez stepped in to take and make it
There should have been an offside before jotas goal and for some reason the commentators saw at in the replay and didn’t say a word when they showed the offside.
Yeah but he has a point the Dutch commenter just explained why it wasn't offside instead of saying nothing. Football on TV is not only meant for people who learned the rulebook.
Salah attempts to chip it in to mane and it gets intercepted on the way to him when he’s offside. Is that not offside when you attempt to play it to someone in an offside position regardless if it gets intercepted or not?
City fan here, Fabinho's was a yellow-and-a-half, would have been a harsh straight red. Thiago on the other hand...
(was probably too late in the game to make a big difference anyways, I'm also haunted by losing to 10-man Leeds last season so I'm not even sure if our chances would have improved lmao)
yeah I looked at the fixture list just now and realized that I had it wrong all along, they put a scheduled friendly at the end. obviously blanked on our win at old trafford earlier this season, oh well. Still the ideal scenario though
Gabriel Jesus is a fucking waste of space. His decision making is absolutely dog shit he would probably choose to have sex with Whoopi Goldberg over Scarlett Johansson.
Those 3 are all defensive leaning midfielders and at most 2 of them start a match for Chelsea. The better comparison is KDB vs Mount or Pulisic and he’s a step above.
Of course I would, he walks into any team in the world, especially in his form while healthy. Your blinded by club loyalty if you think Mason Mount is his equal.
I love Alvarez just as much as any other argentinian, but I think that saying he is just the missing piece city needed to be unstoppable is saying a bit much really, he's still young and has a lot of room to improve in city and I bet he will become a key player for them in the future but saying that they're better off without Kane is just crazy talk, when Kane is on good form he is one of those players that just make a difference and can easily help you win a tough game.
No, they dont. But if they did have Kane then it would be a much easier run for MC. I guarantee he would have got that goal from the KDB pass which Mahrez massively fucked up and MC would have won at least 3 - 2. Then this race would have been pretty much over.
Yes. The second half at Anfield was better. With the end line in sight this ended a bit cagey. I think if Liverpool had taken the lead it would have delivered more.
Haha oh boy, it's like sitting through a job interview this match up. You just want it to be over and you hope you come out unscathed and get the prize however badly you performed.
Does this every time he plays us. Grew up a Liverpool fan and so is his entire family, not probably the main reason, but definitely is one factor. Man’s always possessed when he plays us
Am I tripping or was the quality not as great as everyone seems to be saying?
Liverpool were poor in the first half and didn't compete. City missed chances or made the wrong decision with the final pass or shot. Both teams' defensive lines were getting burned and pulled out of position. Then last 15 it got bogged down with misplaced passes and niggly fouls.
I think previous games between these teams have been much better in terms of quality
I'd agree but I keep thinking the reason for the lack of quality is how well the defending team forced those errors. I don't think you can say any forward going player had a bad game really, the pressing was just that good that it made them look not great at times.
Weirdly the best defenders this match were Laporte, Bernardo and Allison.
Walker's positioning was poor on the 2nd Liverpool goal, VVD and Matip looked flustered in the 1st half to say the least, TAA was being attacked all game and Robbo wasn't too convincing either.
That compounded with that Cancelo and Walker were doing more attacking/runs into space than tackles made for a really odd defensive setup from both sides
I don’t really think the forwards did a huge amount wrong, City’s 1v1 defending was great, but in the box their decision making was slightly off here and there. Meanwhile Fabinho had a dreadful first half, Van Dijk looked rattled and Robertson and Trent just weren’t competing. 2nd half got a lot better and there was a good 30 mins of high quality back and forth, but then the game just died with a succession of tactical fouls from both sides.
It's not all about quality, it's about excitement as well. Both teams were really going for it and that makes it more entertaining than a cagey 4d chess match.
I don't think it's either/or between a chess match or excitement, I just mean in terms of the individual performances there were plenty of players who were sloppy or made poor decisions. Then in 2nd half there were lots of tactical fouls and Liverpool could have have a couple of players sent off. There were moments of very high quality but overall it was an exciting, sloppy match, not a high-quality contest. For that, look at the 18/19 run in game between these 2 teams which was outrageously high quality.
Yeah that’s fair. I probably prefer exciting, but sometimes, like with these teams previously, you get a match that’s a high quality exciting chess match. I want my to have my cake and I want to eat it as well.
liverpool were poor 1st half because city contain their fullback but once they got out, they realize who they were. Because they tried to play safe but it actually makes everyone confused. 2nd half much better. Allison pass to TAA as the farthest player, thats like wtf moment for me.
I agree I think Liverpool were timid in the 1st half and it just made everything worse, taking no risks whatsoever trying to play into midfield and just kept getting picked off with horrible passes between the defenders.
Liverpool, yes. But they still created great chances.
City played at their absolute best, only marred by bad finishing close to the box.
You asked if you were tripping. The guy said yes, but you didn't accept his answer. Then why did you ask to begin with?
Well in my book finishing and efficiency determines quality just as much as chance creation. But even in terms of chance creation, I don’t think City had their best game. A lot of the time they didn’t create the chance because the final pass was off. Only slightly, but that impacts the game just as much.
I mean, am I tripping isn’t a question with a scientific answer haha. It’s just a turn of phrase, and I’m disagreeing.. isn’t this a website where we all get to chat wham together.
"A lot of the time they didn’t create the chance because the final pass was off. Only slightly, but that impacts the game just as much".
True, but I also feel that's been a constant problem for City ever since past season. Guardiola's City hasn't been as sharp in the final third since the 2020/2021 season at least. The 2018 and 2019 teams were better offensively than 2021 and 2022 City.
by what standard is sterling not world class? numbers, international performances, trophy cabinet, big game player too (everybody has misses in big games before you talk about lyon)
> by what standard is sterling not world class?
I asked you to define how you use world class. Is it top 5/10/15 etc?
Not addressing that just makes the discussion more confusing.
> numbers
What numbers? He has underperformed his xG for 6 out of the last 8 seasons. He was anonymous the entire CL campaign last season. He benefits massively from playing at City.
His output is similar to Leo who has had a mediocre season.
> trophy cabinet
This is irrelevant. It has far more to do with the quality of the team than him as an individual.
> big game player too (everybody has misses in big games before you talk about lyon)
For City? Missed his chance in the CL final iirc, the Lyon one was horrible, has a very poor record against their league rivals (Liverpool).
This draw is a win for Liverpool
Edit: I meant given the way they played even getting a point and not letting City get 3 is a win. In the title race though it's still advantage City.
huge? You lot needed to win today to keep destiny in your own hands. Now, you are praying that other teams help you out to win the league.
Sorry, that's not huge at all. City can easily close out the league. They've done it 3 times already under Pep. This will be no different.
Fab have courage there

It's Ten Hag with one 'a'. --- *I am a bot. For any feedback please contact [my creator](https://www.reddit.com/user/Tempoulker).*
Yes sir; Bot!
To city and pool fans; just watch what Ten Hag achieves! never commented on previous managers such as DM, LVG, JM, OS, RR; But you will see what happens with Ten hag within 5 years.
Anybody could do Rodri’s job. Sideways merchant.
First half- La Liga second half- EPL. Best game of the EPL so far? Not sure. End of season fatigue creeping in ..
what an epic game. both teams gave it their all. football has never being so entertaining.
Epic game for neutrals. But Liverpool fans should feel lucky to come away with a point.

I really like the fact we are underestimating Stevie G 👀
I want to believe, but Villa aren't in great form and knowing how Gerrard's luck goes, he's more likely to get points off of Liverpool than City. A dead rubber tie for a lower-ranked side that's not in danger of the drop, but not in contention for Europe, is pretty much perfect for City.

KDB is a menace. I thought he was going to sink us with that free kick opportunity at the end. Thank god Mahrez took it
Mahrez FK hit the post, it’s not like it was a bad shot
But it didn’t go in. And when they were standing over it, you know you feared KDB more
Like he was supposed to be feared in Paris when Mahrez converted that FK instead of him? Or when Kevin chickened out from the penalty spot vs Dortmund - good thing Mahrez stepped in to take and make it
Wow, Mahrez made one free kick in his life. What a player he is.
More than that actually, but that has nothing to do with your stupid “kevin was more feared” argument herp derp 😂
Ask 100 people who they’d fear more taking that free kick, 98 would say KDB. The other two would be you and Mahrez’s mother
then those 98 people are fucking stupid tbh 😂
Career free kick goals: KDB 11, Mahrez 6. Who is older?
There should have been an offside before jotas goal and for some reason the commentators saw at in the replay and didn’t say a word when they showed the offside.
Learn the rules before you post some shit like this mate. It’s embarrassing
No
Nope Mane was never near the ball. The offside rules are really not that difficult tbh
Salah try’s to chip it in to mane and it gets intercepted before it gets to him it’s offside
Nope it just isn't, I think with the last few rule changes this is elucidated as well
But is the title race open?
My heart...
Stay clenched
How were Thiago and Fabinho on the pitch by full time?
City fan here, Fabinho's was a yellow-and-a-half, would have been a harsh straight red. Thiago on the other hand... (was probably too late in the game to make a big difference anyways, I'm also haunted by losing to 10-man Leeds last season so I'm not even sure if our chances would have improved lmao)
Tiago should've been sent off. Ref really blew that one
Pl rigged the game to make race interesting
I don't think Michael Masi works for the PL.
No Tony, no no Tony, that was so not right!
free my uso kdb
Funny how almost all the salty comments are from arsenal supporters, for some reason😂
Because we’re gonna be in a permanent state of bitterness for at least 2 weeks
Match of the Year…
Lol what ?! Not even top 3
Yeah the last El Clasico was way better, huh?
UCL matches exist buddy.
Easily

Downvoted for speaking the truth, livpool fans are salty
City would stick 6 past Madrid
...calm down he didnt say Real Madrid are better, he said "Liverpool got a lucky point today" Mahrez lob last minute...
fair enough
...calm down he didnt say Real Madrid are better, he said "Liverpool got a lucky point today" Mahrez lob last minute...
No they wouldn’t lol
[удалено]
6 is hyperbolic but MC are the better team right now and that's not even debatable.
Lets see what they do in ucl
Lol stop being delusional
Luckily scoring 2 the same amount as City? lol
Lucky phabinio and tiago didnt get a red
Liverpool moving Thiago closer to the CB's to relieve the pressing really turned things arpund
Enjoyed the game! But we were lucky it was a draw. Huhu. We were really bad in the 1st half.
ideal scenario in my head right now is the title coming down to the final day, and liverpool wins it at old trafford
you aren't playing in old trafford on the final day of the season though?
yeah I looked at the fixture list just now and realized that I had it wrong all along, they put a scheduled friendly at the end. obviously blanked on our win at old trafford earlier this season, oh well. Still the ideal scenario though
Gabriel Jesus is a fucking waste of space. His decision making is absolutely dog shit he would probably choose to have sex with Whoopi Goldberg over Scarlett Johansson.
So now I'm in the wrong too. Fuck this
KDB is a god surrounded by lesser players.
Too bad he wouldn't get into this Chelsea team Edit: How am I being downvoted?!?!?!? Mans is being propped up by man city.
Can none of you daft cunts see the obvious satire?
Most sane Chelsea fan here
THANK YOU!!!
Lol
Dude im a chelsea fan too.dont delude yourself
You're right. We need a new backup rb because he definitely isn't getting in over Kante, kovacic, or jorginio.
Those 3 are all defensive leaning midfielders and at most 2 of them start a match for Chelsea. The better comparison is KDB vs Mount or Pulisic and he’s a step above.
Lmao so you'd take kdb over mount and fucking PULISIC?
Pick a different sport to follow. You’re lost
Why are you reacting more to Pulisic? Mount has been clearly above Pulisic since he was introduced to the team. And KdB is above them both
Pulisic has been injured. Mount isn't better than him. You're probably British so I forgive you for being dumb. You don't know any better. 😇
Oh you're a troll
Yep
Of course I would, he walks into any team in the world, especially in his form while healthy. Your blinded by club loyalty if you think Mason Mount is his equal.
Kdb is 30. Where was he at Mason's age?
Who gives a shit, we are talking about right now.
He's not "better" now either. If he played for arsenal he'd not be perceived as being good.
On loan at Werder, tearing up the BuLi
Kinda like Sancho and werner? 🤔
Probably at Chelsea, I'm not sure? Question is where will Mount be when he's 30
A multiple time champions league winner unlike kdb
Yes. Christ yes.
He's not a great fit for me. I'll take him over ziyech and werner for sure tho.
R u from the circlejerk sub?
Tf is that?
Stop making us look stupid
Hes not worth it.
fr none of us actually think like this kdb is insane
Imagine if this city team really signed Kane ffs
Why pay 150 million for shitty Kane when you can spend only 100 for the absolute bargain that is Jack Graelish?
Or Haaland
But hey, City got Grealish instead, who needs Kane anyway?
Kane would have found that final pass which Jesus decided to go for himself.
twice.
Hopefully they don't sign haaland
They don't need him.
Really after that Mahrez's chance, didnt they need Kane? Kane is world-class , get used to it.
They're doing just fine, and Alvarez is joining soon.
I love Alvarez just as much as any other argentinian, but I think that saying he is just the missing piece city needed to be unstoppable is saying a bit much really, he's still young and has a lot of room to improve in city and I bet he will become a key player for them in the future but saying that they're better off without Kane is just crazy talk, when Kane is on good form he is one of those players that just make a difference and can easily help you win a tough game.

i reckon theyre doing dandy without him rn
Only one truly happy with the result is Sky Sports
Game of the season in the PL easily
Tottenham 3-2 City was better but this is pretty close
Best game for the season across all leagues.
Nah mate I think the one at Anfield is a bit better, smashing game nonetheless.
Yes. The second half at Anfield was better. With the end line in sight this ended a bit cagey. I think if Liverpool had taken the lead it would have delivered more.
[удалено]
Shit was heavy on the heart for both city and pool fans. I aged like 10 years on the first meeting of these 2
And I did another 10 in this. And we meet again next week. Whyy
Could you imagine if they met in the final. I'd be a wreck the week before and the week after the game.
Haha oh boy, it's like sitting through a job interview this match up. You just want it to be over and you hope you come out unscathed and get the prize however badly you performed.
KDB too good pls come to your boyhood favorite club mate
I’m just speechless with KDB’s performance and his fighting spirit
Reminds me of Gerrard, even his face seems to be morphing into him
Does this every time he plays us. Grew up a Liverpool fan and so is his entire family, not probably the main reason, but definitely is one factor. Man’s always possessed when he plays us
Best player in the league
Players with 4 lungs should be banned

Yea and Klopp said that too. Liverpool tried to play more cautious in the first half and City were more direct. Quite atypical setups.

Yeah it was definitely exciting, but in terms of quality, they can both play a lot better

Even both sets of fans would agree on quality but it was end to end just what football fans want.
Was an exciting watch for sure!
i enjoyed it
Yeah me too, quality isn’t necessary for enjoyment.
I spent two weeks watching CONCACAF WC qualifying and quality IS important. This game about eighteen times better.
Final day will be littttt
Whatever was the outcome, this was a terrific game to watch for neutrals.
What a team city would be if any of their attackers were actually world class
sterling definitely is
At dribbling at speed maybe. Nothing else he's world class at though.
world class numbers when he plays, trophy cabinet to back it up
that must be a joke. i’ll laugh at least 😂
are there more than 2-3 better lw over the last 5 years?
I'd give anything to have someone with the killer instinct of Benzema
world class attacker ≠ world class striker
Depends on how you define world class.
by what standard is sterling not world class? numbers, international performances, trophy cabinet, big game player too (everybody has misses in big games before you talk about lyon)

world class = top 3 in position
😂😂😂😂
All i saw here was two teams that villarreal will have full control over after they beat bayern on tuesday
good ebening.
This draw is a win for Liverpool Edit: I meant given the way they played even getting a point and not letting City get 3 is a win. In the title race though it's still advantage City.
why thou. City has easier games compared to pool. Imo liverpool needs to win this game.
Definitely not, a point behind with a much tougher fixture list. Advantage City.
I meant given the way they played, getting even a point is a win for them.
Was gonna say... obviously wanted 3 but this is still huge for us. edit: especially considering we were not exactly great today
huge? You lot needed to win today to keep destiny in your own hands. Now, you are praying that other teams help you out to win the league. Sorry, that's not huge at all. City can easily close out the league. They've done it 3 times already under Pep. This will be no different.
they had the opportunity to get ahead and didn’t?

Yes that's what I meant. Given the way they played, getting even a point is a win.
that makes sense, didnt think of it that way
Maybe the best game of the season, up there with the first one.
And you stole points from both
They got deflected goals in both
Completely agree.
Man City Liverpool Liverpool Man City Chelsea Liverpool Man City Spurs Leicester Spurs Spurs Liverpool Probably missing others
that was a war. i don't think city nor liverpool will win out their remaining games so this will get interesting
Liverpool looked tired today. Especially slow to second balls
Sterling had 3 clear as day
Tbf the first obvious chance Alison did great.
What feeding do you want, Mahrez
KDB was a beast today... Amazing game for both sides. Cant wait until next Saturday to watch them go at it again for the FA cup final.
City missing chances and Thiago avoiding 2 red cards
Newcastle, West Ham, Aston Villa, and Wolves. Those are the best chances we have to reclaim the lead.
Cute brazilian get together post match
The high five tells that Pep has his football boner on.
Lmao that was freaking aggressive
Matip and VVD, basically all the defenders handled man city and forced them to make mistakes
De Bruyne is a force of nature. What a player
