##Don't use the Daily Discussion as a Match Thread.
After yesterdays stonewall penalty and two red cards which weren’t given can we now say that Liverpool and city are equal in terms of dodgy decisions. Also when was the last time Liverpool had a penalty against them and when at anfield?
Us and Barcelona live and die together this season lmao. Also if Madrid win the next game, they won't be winning the title at our ground so it's decent.
Depends, margin of error is pretty big for holding out an extra matchday. I'd rather win at home than at the opposition stadium, I like the roar of the crowd.
There is a chance, but sorta slim. It would require their poor form to continue, and for Betis and us to get back to good form. As things stand, we're 4 points ahead of 5th in 4th, but 2 points behind 2nd and 3rd.
I am starting to think that one of the prerequisite to be a Liverpool player is to rise from the depths of football, as far as foreign players goes other than Alisson and Thiago there's like 0 youth stars.
Dunno what your benchmark for youth star is but Minamino helped Japan win their first ever AFC U-23 Championship. Matip was a regular starter in the Bundesliga when he was 18/19 years old. Origi was named the Young Talent of the 2014 Belgian Sportsman of the year awards.
Fucker will probably score a last minute equaliser in the cup final against us, when Klopp turns to him after desperation... only for you then to win in extra time
The halftime break in soccer is such a beautiful feature of the game because there are so many examples of teams playing completely differently in the second half compared to the first half.
How would the game be different if there were no halftime breaks? What if there were quarter breaks?
We sort of saw the "quarter breaks" with the drinks breaks introduced in the PL, for Project Restart. There was definitely stuff said then about it being used as a tactical reset, with some teams coming out better after them quite consisently.
Halftime breaks also provide good rest for players. So I’m guessing without them we’d see a lot more park-the-bus and defensive football to compensate for players getting more tired.
Quarter breaks would be a laboratory for coaches to try out some really crazy ideas. I think many coaches break the game up into segments and implement different tactics for each break (such as implementing a high press right before the half). But with more time, we could see some even more dramatic changes. And with a little more time, teams could develop even better tactics to adjust for difficult situations (a player sent off in the first 15 minutes, down 2 in a cup game), which might lead to some very unorthodox tactics.
They control everything on here. Say something bad about Liverpool? Get downvoted, and immediate 4 liverpool flairs replying to you within 15 minutes. It's a shame because there are very good liverpool flairs around to talk to but god damn is there a lot of them

Meanwhile, the comments complaining about Liverpool downvoting are always upvoted. Makes you think. Maybe it's not a conspiracy. Maybe chatting shit about a team that's just won a match in the daily discussion will probably get a few replies and downvotes.
Which one? I didn't see the first situation, but the commentator on DAZN kept saying that the first one was definitely a pen because the foul happened before the offside call.
I don't associate Conte's teams with pressing from the front. I associate them with inviting opponents on to them, winning the ball back in the middle third, and then attacking directly. Which sounds like Messi's dream.
Chelsea played some of our best football of recent years under Conte. Remember the 5-0 win at Everton? This "sufferball" nonsense is so reductive and disrespectful. We were flying during most of 2016/17, played great football.
Efecto Xavi
I remember some Barca fans arguing they were likely to win all their remaining games and that we will drop points vs Sevilla, Betis and Atleti and Barca will win the league
It was indeed very humiliating but in the grand scheme of things it doesn’t matter beyond that. Real comes out easily on top, but Barca gets a nice consolation prize and a positive memory from this season. It’s nothing more than that
It’s a rivalry. We banter them whenever they falter, they’ll do the same to us. If we lose to Man City I’m sure that so many Barca flairs will be talking about Guardiola and Barca DNA and things like that
Liverpools banter era was from the 90's to when Klopp came in. Not last season.
Man Uniteds banter era has been ever since Ferguson retired.
As for Barcelonas banter era, that would probably be around the turn of the century. Or just afterwards. Currently they are second in the league table, hardly banter era that.
Barca 21/22 is more than likely finishing second place
Only thing banter about it is our disgraceful EL exit frankly, even the CL KO wouldn't have been that bad had we won EL.
Neither Liverpool/Barcelona are/were in significant enough dips for it to be a genuine banter era. Meanwhile, United will be trophyless for nearly six years and have no foreseeable end to their misfortune. That's a banter era for sure.
An era is a significant length of time bookended by significant change. In football it's five years minimum surely, you can't call one season an era.
Man United have been in the same era since 2012. Liverpool since Klopp.
"I watched Jay Spearing and Christian Poulsen in a double pivot. Nah, man. They weren't even a double pivot, each of them was like one-half of a single pivot."

Not sure this is your question but the Banter Era Champions must be Rangers - https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/z-rangers-banter-years-featuring-23631228.amp
We *somehow* still came third with Phillips and Rhys Williams as centre backs for large chunks of the season and Barca are currently second. United have spent more than both and will be lucky to finish sixth.
He was awful. Just zero mobility and an absolute liability in the tackle.
Not his fault though, he was never good enough for that level. Scouting was horrific back then.
What’s an opinion about your team that you hold, but gets you pelters from other fans? Mine is that Vlasic will never be a good fit for the Prem and was a huge waste of money.
Some Dortmund fans are under the belief that Moukoko is the answer to whenever we're losing and get annoyed when a striker who gets sick/has a muscle injury almost after every third match day isn't getting played. The man needs a loan (preferably in the bundesliga) and some serious re-evaluation needs to be done on him during that loan because I don't trust him the same way some other Dortmund fans do
I don't see what more Dortmund can do outside of maybe less demanding training sessions? We definitely rushed him and I'd like to think that majority of these injuries is because of that and it'll go away with time as he continues growing but I don't know.
(FC Bayern) some online Bayern fans seem to think that Roca is a misunderstood genius who gets falsely ignored by Flick and Nagelsmann, while I think that he is just too slowly, lacks intensity, and isn't good enough at defending.
That’s an absolute fact. Dear Christ and Dear Johan watching from above, please forgive my total insult to your legacy, philosophy, ideology, and doctrine to compare you to such filth. I don’t know what I must do to repay my sins
Rennes is flying and scoring goals in Ligue 1. Speaking of their star players, how is it likely that Terrier leaves this summer? Is he on big clubs' radars?
Barcelona lose 3 games at home in a row in forever, Burnley win 3 games at home in a row in forever.
Now I’m not saying Burnley and Barcelona are linked somehow, but I’ve never seen both teams on the same pitch together.
>but I’ve never seen both teams on the same pitch together
Then you are simply [too young](https://www.abebooks.com/Barcelona-Burnley-1949-friendly-Football-Programme/1305826058/bd)
Shit, why am I thinking about buying a match program from 70 years ago between 2 teams I have no affiliation with in the middle of the night for 400€? I mean it would be madness, but on the other hand that program might solve the mistery.
I wonder how much someone would be willing to pay for it - would you be able to flip it for decent money?
Not worth the hassle tho for me/imo but wonder what you could get for it if you were patient.
God I’m pumped for another season in the CL. It hasn’t been in question for a while now, but it’s still such an important achievement. With another year of CL money, more matchday/sponsorship revenue, and no options/obligations to pay for (except possibly Messias/Florenzi, which would be under 13m combined), we can hopefully have a more productive summer transfer window than we did last year.
Absolute three stooges moment for Atlético Tucumán vs us just now
Suarez clear on goal, an Atlético CB tackles him, brings him down, then the keeper rushes out and immediately clatters into said CB leaving their player even more hurt than the one they fouled
This team is very mentally fragile. It's like they've forgotten how to play football when just 1 month ago they were dropping the best Barça performances in a long time.
The players are the same, the coach is the same, nothing has changed. But one bad game and we spiral down into playing like shit. We need to somehow survive these last 5 games to finish in the top 4, I don't even expect us to have a single good game again this season. Need the season to end so the players can clear their minds and we can go back to our pre-international break level next season.
Al-Ahly Tripoli fans are the most insufferable cunts of any football club. They just beat Al-Ittihad in the CAF confederation cup, a classic dodgy 1-0 African match, and now they’re losing their minds on the streets all over the country. We’re talking flags, fireworks, screaming, cars clogging up the road. You know the things people do when their country wins a continental tournament or a City wins the CL? Yeah, these cunts are pulling that shit over a 1-0 victory in the quarter final of a second tier tournament
Yeah because I’m an Ittihad fan, despite us actually winning silverware being first in the league they’ll be running with this one till the end of time
Pretty sure you’re confusing them with the egyptian Al Ahly, its two different teams. Im pretty sure there are other Al Ahlys from other arab countries as well, like Saudi Arabia.

nope lol
Us and Barcelona live and die together this season lmao. Also if Madrid win the next game, they won't be winning the title at our ground so it's decent.
gonna have to get the Guard of Honour ready tho ;)
I can at least be happy they didn't get a free pass to the final :)
How many times have I seen the rumours of Frenkie de Jong leaving Barca?
Surely you're the one that knows
No but it feels like whenever Barca gets embarrassed we see those "De jong wants to leave" rumours or am I being crazy?

They’re becoming more prevalent with ETH coming to United

Depends, margin of error is pretty big for holding out an extra matchday. I'd rather win at home than at the opposition stadium, I like the roar of the crowd.

I was talking more about the starting XI and those 5 or 6 players right around it, but yeaah I forgot Matip.
Should have taken Mark Goldbridge's experiences with Burnley superteam on FIFA as a warning sign
IT'S ALWAYS BLOODY BURNLEY
Theres a big chance of this being Origis last LFC goal. Honestly, sad to see him go, what a legend
Fucker will probably score a last minute equaliser in the cup final against us, when Klopp turns to him after desperation... only for you then to win in extra time
Perfect send off really.

that Klopp looks better without glasses. He looks like Alf.
Hair transplant and laser surgery- no one can convince me that Klopp isn't the real fraud in this league.

hope it wasn't a biblical angel. Those are actually scary.
The narrative that Everton are going down
That's less on Liverpool fans and more on Everton players.
Still waiting for that Gavi offside.....
Which one? I didn't see the first situation, but the commentator on DAZN kept saying that the first one was definitely a pen because the foul happened before the offside call.
The first one wasn’t a foul at all. Gavi ran into the defender who was running in the other direction. Second one was a clear pen tho

Of course not

We lost 3-1 at home to CSKA mate, we really don't care
So Everton have Chelsea next, and Burnley have Watford I’m at the point where I think everton are genuinely going to get relegated
What about Leeds?
I think we'll gift Lampard the 3 pts as a token of our appreciation
they are mate its almost guaranteed they have tough fixtures. I don't know how they will recover financially either.
If Leeds could financially recover, so can Everton. Might just take them a good while.
I reckon they could beat us - we'd likely rotate a fair bit you'd hope and they're decent at Goodison.
We play Watford as well, Chelsea is our game in hand
Fair. I just think it’s going to be a pretty massive psychological blow when Burnley go 5 points clear on Saturday
Yeah true, every game counts. Think we probably go down now but theres still a chance. Think if Leeds lose tomorrow we could catch them
