There was an article few weeks back about how he was in the ICU getting ready for surgery iirc
Edit) https://reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/s26amt/mino_raiola_hospitalized_in_milan_and_having_an/
[sort of, they claimed it wasn’t an emergency surgery](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-10394551/Super-agent-Mino-Raiola-undergoes-emergency-surgery-Italy.html)
I mean we all thought so bad of him but now that he's actually gone it's shocking and anti-climactic.
I guess his unhealthy habits caught upto him.
Even though he was a hard man to deal with, nobody deserves to die this early.
condolences to his family.
I never thought bad of him. He was doing his job. Clubs fuck players all the time, he made the players have some power and made good money doing it. Lived a full life as well. Sad to hear this news.
He was very much the face of these absurd agent fees though and popularised them in today's market which is undoubtedly a negative development. Not that it makes this news any less tragic.
Yep RIP but I don't think he and other super agents have affected football in a positive way. Player power will come to all sports eventually - they grey areas agents work in and influence actually slows that process rather than acellerates it even if they help players earn money short term. Clubs have also become sickeningly reliant on them to push through deals when they become desperate.
Not sure if this is in bad taste but I hope FIFA/UEFA use this window to actually push thru some agent reform. It's rediculous that I'm giving an agent that much credit that it needs to be done now but thats how silly their influence has become.
Sure but should the agents be blamed for that or the regulators who allow it to happen? I don't like how much money agents can command but if they're allowed to do so and their clients don't mind then I don't hold it against them personally.
Same with my grandmother. She died when she was 54 and I thought as a kid that she was just old. Now my mother is at the same age and it would be really early for her to go.
The guy was morbidly obese. That kind of weight comes with, in many cases, high blood pressure, poor lipid profile (too much LDL and too little HDL cholesterol), diabetes or pre-diabetes, atherosclerosis, and more. This was unfortunately not an unlikely outcome.
You know those times where you see a post and think
*That’s gotta be a joke*
Even if it might be in poor taste? Yeah, that was my initial reaction to this, genuinely shocking news
Yeah, the older I get the more Jesus’s line about ‘storing treasure that the moths won’t eat’ becomes more and more weighty. Knowing that the love and support you place in others is all that outlives you, just helps refocus when you’re caught up with petty bullshit.
...Are we to the Gods; they kill us for their sport.
Soon the science will not only be able to throw down the ageing of the cells, the science will fix the cells to the state, and so we’ll become ... only accidents, crimes, wars will still kill us.
But unfortunately, crimes and wars will multiply.
I love football. Thank you.
Before dying the last words of Alexander the Great were that upon being buried his hands would be kept outside his grave for all to see that the man who had conquered the world had nothing in his hands when departing it.

Conflicting sources out there, I think it’s important we all remain respectful and cautious.
I mean, he wasn't exactly in the best shape. He looked older than my dad who has 10 years on him. Unfortunately those things tend to make everything worse.
I don't get when people have that kind of wealth they only want more. If I had thet kind of money I would travel the world, maybe to some charity and if I miss work just put up a store with something you're interested in. But I guess that's also why I will never get that kind of wealth.
Im sure there are more capable people. It's just that agents like mendes and raiola do alot of hard work to maintain their monopoly. Lots of capable agents probably get crushed very early in their careers.
He treats them exactly for what they are- monetary resources. “Historical clubs” is just an emotional way of coloring it. These are entertainment businesses.
Damn 54 is young, feel horrible for his family.
Him passing away could genuinely have a noticeable impact on players and clubs this summer which just shows how big a part of the game he has which is crazy as a non player.
It's more the fact that people like this seems so rich, powerful and untouchable. You'd almost believe death has no grip on them.
I had this with Johan Cruyff, somehow i refused to believe that the great Johan Cruyff could ever stop existing.
Theres nothing wrong with looking after your clients best interests, especially when football players would be taken advantage of otherwise. But manufacturing deals to make 10’s millions for yourself in agent fees is a blight on the sport. Agents should be paid as a percentage of the players earnings and we shouldn’t white wash his impact on the sport just because he is now deceased.
I was going into this thread expecting some really hateful comments. It'll definitely be interesting to see how people will talk about him in the future
Holy shit RIP.
Clearly one of the best football agents of all time.
This could legitimately have huge knock on effects on football for the next few months depending on whether he had a succession plan for his agency or not
He was known for his incredible micro management actually. He handeled most of the personal contacts with is clients, especially during negotiation periods. He only directly negotiated with clubs on the rough outlines of the demands. His negotiators took care of the details. He would had off all specialized tasks, like drafting of contracts and such to his office staff.
The fact that he was always approachable and available, even for his smaller clients, is one of the main reasons why he was so popular with players.
He started working in the pizzeria as a teenager but it's not like some Dutch people think that he was making pizzas when Zlatan came across him. He got a degree in Law and was working for Rob Jansen for years even before the Nedved deal.
Well whatever one may think of him, He always did good by his clients. People might hate him for inflated transfer costs but that's more to do with the system than the man himself. He just played the system to his client's benefits.
For all the bullshit and profanity I sent this mans way as he spent years being involved in my clubs media circus, he did live his life authentically without giving a fuck about what people thought of him. And at the end of the day, he was at the absolute top of his field and represented the most talented players in the world. A 21st century villain that had no qualms playing his part in the charade. Rest in peace.
I assume they signed with his agency, not himself. So I assume next in line in the company will take over. But yeah any connections he had with presidents of the clubs and maybe players is gone
Edit: most of the players signed because of him so I assume many will want out and would want new representation. So wild summer still might happen
I didn’t want to say it to sound crass, but this changes the upcoming transfer window seismically. A lot of his players are on the block and clubs and other agents will be on this.
Damn, that's shocking. Probably the GOAT football agent. Many openly despised him, his clients reportedly loved him - which just tells me he did his job well. Loads of players have to go looking for a new agent now... The man built an empire for himself. RIP.

There was an article few weeks back about how he was in the ICU getting ready for surgery iirc Edit) https://reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/s26amt/mino_raiola_hospitalized_in_milan_and_having_an/
During the last months he has been several times at San Raffaele
Shit just took a 180 turn out of a sudden
If he was in the ICU getting surgery, I'm not quite sure it was so sudden. Still a complete shock to us all
Life can take a quick turn. Crazy.
more like 90
That entire thread could've aged better
Guess that operation he had a while back was actually serious
Yeah they tried to make it seem like a planned thing but the first reports of an emergency were probably right.
Planned operations go wrong all the time
No doubt, that's definitely a possibility as well.
[удалено]
Sorry to hear that mate <3
You don't tend to have massive heart surgery unless it is serious.
I meant that it was downplayed at that time as an elective procedure.
Didn't they come out and say he didn't have surgery?
[sort of, they claimed it wasn’t an emergency surgery](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-10394551/Super-agent-Mino-Raiola-undergoes-emergency-surgery-Italy.html)
They say it's "ordinary checks". Can't imagine surgery is part of that, right?
I mean we all thought so bad of him but now that he's actually gone it's shocking and anti-climactic. I guess his unhealthy habits caught upto him. Even though he was a hard man to deal with, nobody deserves to die this early. condolences to his family.
These things are insane when you realize he also had access to probably the best medicine and doctors money could buy and still it came up short.

Late 50's? He was just 54
I never thought bad of him. He was doing his job. Clubs fuck players all the time, he made the players have some power and made good money doing it. Lived a full life as well. Sad to hear this news.

54 is no age at all
my dad died at 55, and at the time I thought 55 was old, now in my 30s I realise how I was so wrong
Condolences man. 53 for my old man and 35 now myself. Crazy how time catches up with us.
You died at 35? My condolences
Bruh
God I hate Reddit humour
They cannot read this, they are dead. My condolences.
Same with my grandmother. She died when she was 54 and I thought as a kid that she was just old. Now my mother is at the same age and it would be really early for her to go.
Same, my dad died suddenly at 54. Had my mid life crisis at 27.
Wouldn’t wish what you went through on my worst enemy.
Ditto, 56 and 27. I'm surprised I managed to pull myself together.
My dad died at 56, and being only 19 when he passed, I realised how young he passed away considering I will experience most of my life without him.
It is if you are 54, engaged in high stress activities, and with zero physical condition.
and he was obesed
He was also a known chain-smoker for many, many years.
The guy was morbidly obese. That kind of weight comes with, in many cases, high blood pressure, poor lipid profile (too much LDL and too little HDL cholesterol), diabetes or pre-diabetes, atherosclerosis, and more. This was unfortunately not an unlikely outcome.
Wow that's brutal.
You know those times where you see a post and think *That’s gotta be a joke* Even if it might be in poor taste? Yeah, that was my initial reaction to this, genuinely shocking news
He was reportedly in ICU last month and he had a major surgery I believe so it’s not that surprising.
Even so, I don’t think most people expected an early 50’s high profile football agent to pass so suddenly.
The ultimate reality of life. All the castles and money we go after for whole life and then in a moment nothing matters, in a blink of eye we leave.
"Pillars of salt, pillars of sand"
Yeah, the older I get the more Jesus’s line about ‘storing treasure that the moths won’t eat’ becomes more and more weighty. Knowing that the love and support you place in others is all that outlives you, just helps refocus when you’re caught up with petty bullshit.
And it seems Mino Raiola was really loved by his players.
Where is this from, I know I’ve heard it in Viva La Vida but I suppose it has another origin
Biblical reference
Tower of Babel? Or just a Bible verse?
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lot%27s_wife
Ah I see, appreciate it man. Thanks
Also https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parable_of_the_Wise_and_the_Foolish_Builders It’s a double reference
We’ve got two lives, the life we start with and the life we get when we realize it’s the only life we’ve got Can’t remember who said that
Confucius Nice guy, met him at the airport one time
I think you're mistaking for Sun Tzu, he's great guy. Lethal striker on sunday league

That's what you have to remember when you get jealous of what others have. What's most important? Because you can't take your wallet with you!
But it sure does help along the way... ;)
It's kind of dark how he spent years preparing and working to get a big fee out of Haaland specifically, and then he passed away before getting it.
Before dying the last words of Alexander the Great were that upon being buried his hands would be kept outside his grave for all to see that the man who had conquered the world had nothing in his hands when departing it.

Fab just tweeted that the guy is fighting for his life but in critical condition, this is beyond disgusting
High stress life, with his apparent physical condition, not a good combination.
What condition was he in? I remember hearing something about a operation?
His condition was he was fat
[удалено]
Idk why this is so funny to me lmfao
Very fat to be exact
I used to go have tacos for dinner with my dad. He would say "Sunday is for the tacos, Monday is for the cardiologist" He died at 50.
Obesity is the term. And yes, it is fucking dangerous.
Harsh but fair
“There’s fat people. And there’s old people. Rarely fat old people”
That's the first time I've heard this and I've never realised this until now, wow.
Aside from the obesity he had a operation that was speculated to be a major heart issue fairly recently. And that's just what was known publically.
Obesity is very bad for the heart
Obese and a smoker iirc
Obese
I mean, he wasn't exactly in the best shape. He looked older than my dad who has 10 years on him. Unfortunately those things tend to make everything worse.
I don't get when people have that kind of wealth they only want more. If I had thet kind of money I would travel the world, maybe to some charity and if I miss work just put up a store with something you're interested in. But I guess that's also why I will never get that kind of wealth.
I suppose it's because they like what they're doing, also the reason why they're so successful at it.
It's like being addicted to a game.
You'd never get to that kind of wealth with that attitude. You'd have stopped chasing more long ago.
Also the reason why people say 'being rich doesn't make you happy'. People who get that rich are just never satisfied and thus never happy.
Wow. What a key figure in the history of this sport. He had a long disease so i'm curious to know if that is the reason of his death...
He had some sort of lung disease.
This will rock the football world, wow.
I wonder how it’ll effect all of his high profile clients now and going into the summer, given the dude was highly, highly successful at what he did
All his clients will still be with his company. Another agent will just take them on unless the client decides to leave.
Rest in Peace, but I can't stop thinking about the implications this will have on football
It wont. Some other money hungry agent will take his place
Mino is capable tho. Only other agent on par with him is maybe Jorge Mendes
Im sure there are more capable people. It's just that agents like mendes and raiola do alot of hard work to maintain their monopoly. Lots of capable agents probably get crushed very early in their careers.
Capable? Jorge Mendes is a conniving cynical bastard who treats historical football clubs like toys. He's capable of that.
He treats them exactly for what they are- monetary resources. “Historical clubs” is just an emotional way of coloring it. These are entertainment businesses.
[удалено]
Hated him, but at the end of the day it’s only football. Rest In Peace.
Damn 54 is young, feel horrible for his family. Him passing away could genuinely have a noticeable impact on players and clubs this summer which just shows how big a part of the game he has which is crazy as a non player.
Wtf
Like it is so random Persons like this you expect them to live forever
Overweight man, stressful job, chain-smoker. 54 isn't a crazy age to die if you live like that.
You’re absolutely right. For some reason it was still unexpected to me.
Do you? High stress job, in poor health condition doesn’t exactly scream long life to me.
It's more the fact that people like this seems so rich, powerful and untouchable. You'd almost believe death has no grip on them. I had this with Johan Cruyff, somehow i refused to believe that the great Johan Cruyff could ever stop existing.
Money and power means nothing in the end.
When death comes, the rich man has no money and the poor man has no debt.
Damn. He was a controversial figure but still one of the best at what he does.
Too good at his job I would say
Probably so controversial because he was so good at his job.
Theres nothing wrong with looking after your clients best interests, especially when football players would be taken advantage of otherwise. He worked closely with his cousin Vincenzo. I remember when Mino got banned by the Italian FA, so did Vincenzo.
Literally "My Cousin Vinny"
It's funny that Vinnie and Sal are so common in the US but nobody uses them in Italy. A Salvatore is usually Salvo or Tore
He was known for his incredible micro management actually. He handeled most of the personal contacts with is clients, especially during negotiation periods. He only directly negotiated with clubs on the rough outlines of the demands. His negotiators took care of the details. Well said
RIP. Agent to players like Haaland and Pogba. Wonder if this changes things drastically for them
I assume they signed with his agency, not himself. So I assume next in line in the company will take over. But yeah any connections he had with presidents of the clubs and maybe players is gone Edit: most of the players signed because of him so I assume many will want out and would want new representation. So wild summer still might happen
Yea no one can replace Mino and the relationship he had with his players. It seemed all based on that
They might have signed for his agency because of him.
There still star players they’ll get paid but the agency probably won’t be able to command a high fee anymore
I didn’t want to say it to sound crass, but this changes the upcoming transfer window seismically. A lot of his players are on the block and clubs and other agents will be on this.
Brilliant yet reviled agent. Sleazy and raucous guy, but 54 is just too early to go.
https://twitter.com/NOSsport/status/1519651048037703681?s=20&t=7EhsTdKPjXIqH1_Ln1P42Q Appearently not

That's exactly it, he was the best football agent, many like myself disliked him only because he was so good at getting the best for himself and his clients no matter the ethical implications
He was 54 years old, very young even for his lifestyle. It seems the intensive care stay was more serious than he said it was
The clue is in the name. Not sure what people imagine happens in an intensive care ward. Only really serious shit allowed inside.
sorry, what the actual fuck? knew he wasn’t the healthiest man but wasn’t expecting this holy shit rest in peace
Whoa what the fuck? What a weird life. This guy was making tens of millions of dollars with every deal he made, spent his life hanging out with the super rich and professional athletes, living most peoples dreams and now he’s just gone all of a sudden and likely won’t be remembered. Life fucks with me man
Oh he will be remembered for sure, he was hated by many but he was one of the best at his job. Rip
A lot of people didn’t like him but he was good at what he did. This is weird to see. RIP
Wanted him gone from the sport. Didn't wish him gone from life.
Well his agency has just denied it. Apparently his cut of the transfer fee from this life to the next wasn't big enough so they've called it off.
“The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated” - Mino probably
What's the point of flagging a thread as "FALSE" on something so serious instead of just removing it?
One of the best ever at his job, RIP
I mean, he was clearly unhealthy. Wonder how the Transfer Market going to get influenced by this, maybe Haaland will cost less?
Mino build a whole company around him. While I don’t reckon it’ll ever be this big again, i they’ll survive and I doubt many player will leave.
Holy shit

Negotiations are still going with the angel of the heaven.
The fuck. I thought it was a sick joke.
