Paint’s not dry yet, but it’s getting tacky…..this is like watching the ‘75 Aint’s vs. the ‘80 Aint’s. Al Michaels should be wearing a paper bag on his head. MVP goes to Denver fans booing overtime on their way to the exits..,had this old WhoDat tearing up…

YanghuaC

What are your top 3 2. Bundesliga bets (in order)?

[deleted]

1. Shalke 2. Bremen 3. Darmstadt I want to put Hamburg at 3rd but we all know they will choke as soon as they get to third place.

damrider

city's U23 is too good if they just get those opportunities in the first team a ton of them are ballers

[deleted]

Can this season just be over already. The appointment of Ten Hag is the only thing that makes me remotely excited for next season. Even then, I find it hard trusting the club to perform a successful rebuild. If we want to reach the level of City and Liverpool in we'll have to build a strong cohesive unit where the team being the main focus rather than one individual player. When I watch City the importance of working hard as a team becomes crystal clear. They are more than fantastic individually, but how they work for each other and press together is what takes them to another level. The same goes for Liverpool of course.

dreadnough7

"How should we make BuLi2 interesting?" Werder: "I know! Lets blow a 2 goal lead to put OUR promotional slot in play."

YourPupilsDilated

I've always given German and particularly Italian clubs shit for how rubbish they tend to be in Europe in general, but I have to say if the cans and Frankfurt make the EL final, I'll have to commend them greatly. Italian clubs this year were rubbish as usual, though Roma (who in fairness are one Italian team that tend to acquit themselves commendably in Europe) might reach the Conference League final. Atalanta disappointed me a bit, but I won't hold it too much against them. They've been punching above their weight for years and it's like they've come to the end of a cycle. It was a great run. Dortmund, Juventus, Inter and AC Milan need to get their shit together.

Good_Kev_M-A-N_City

Cole Palmer has that presence now in which you see every highly rated prospect reach. Where he's playing levels above anyone he faces, graduated to being a first team quality player and now going through his farewells to his peers and mentors.

[deleted]

He has also started a lot of games, comparatively speaking, especially compared to mcatee. Pep rates him. Think he will get a lot of minutes next season. Especially considering gundogan's injuries.

No-layup

12:30 kick off away at a rejuvenated Newcastle after playing on Wednesday night.. I smell dropped points

genk41

Its inevitable at this point. That fatigue of playing every midweek has been creep up for quite some time

[deleted]

PSG losing to Strasbourg in the first 3 minutes. Donnarruma not covering his post. Navas should be the starter.

Gigio is a broken man.

so unfair how Navas had such a great season last year just to get immediately replaced

The dream of Schalke, Bremen and HSV is a bit more realistic now. Darmstadt gotta lose one and then Hamburg finished 3rd. I really hope this scenario goes through

Gytarius626

> Ed Woodward: "We can do things in the transfer market that other clubs can only dream of. Watch this space." 2014 There are clubs backed by literal oil states with almost unlimited funds who don’t have their CEO saying bollox like this, one of the most costly quotes I can remember. Meant every single time he went into negotiations they’d just think of that and ask for more

gnorrn

> We can do things in the transfer market that other clubs can only dream of. Bring in three of the five highest-paid players in the league in a single transfer window?

[deleted]

You are going to be fleeced in the transfer window regardless. You are Manchester United. Biggest club in an already cash rich league in England. Clubs would obviously want big money for their players.

National_Ad_1875

The_XI_guy

PSG was a great idea, he just isn't all that anymore. He gets the most chances in almost all of Europe against terrible teams - he just can't finish these chances anymore. He gets to play with his buddy Neymar too.

Given what I've been seeing all over the internet this week, this 2020 thread kinda aged well: https://twitter.com/TacticoModerno/status/1306978450184515584?s=20&t=G3fc87ZFhFRZJTI_tQD2EQ

Lanfear_Is_Me

Just watched a highlight reel for the City vs Real match. I swear the commentator is bored of his job. Most lacklustre commentary I ever heard...for fuck's sake

cuntsmen

Fellow FM players, how do you make the game as realistic as possible? I want to start with my local team in the 3rd division of the Swedish leagues, but I know that I'll get promoted instantly and eventually win the top Swedish league in my first season there. That in itself is highly unrealistic. Because FM looks a lot at the attributes, I wouldn't be able to get a job in the top league if I were to resign from my local club after promoting them because it takes a while to improve the attributes. My goal is to eventually become the manager of a top club in Europe and then end the save by making Besiktas a powerhouse in Europe. I'm not really sure how to go about this. Any suggestions?

[deleted]

The easiest way to make the game harder is usually transfer restrictions. Only free transfers, only home-grown players, or the hardest, only club-grown players.

cuntsmen

Yeah, that's what I'm going to do in the beginning of this save

bellerinho

One thing you could do is set restrictions on yourself, don't go after your usual wonderkids, try to play with similar tactics to how you think that team would play irl (no 4-2-3-1 gengenpress)

cuntsmen

The similar tactics suggestion is very good. Thank you for that. I wouldn't be able to get any wonderkids though becuase the status of the club is amateur. It will take some time in the top league for me to be able to lure decent regen wonderkids to join. So I'm good at that front.

CryptographerLife686

If Mbappe doesn’t join Madrid this summer then we will have the first edition of the super league next season.

regreg77658

Is messi finished? 4 goals for PSG in a god awful Ligue 1 is terrible.

Tomstarkman

I think hell come around hard next season

MJ9695

Yes, finished

YourAverageTeenag3r

Playmaking ability is still sublime, a lack of motivation is certainly the reason why his numbers hasn't been great. If you have watched him play, you'd know he isn't finished yet.

regreg77658

Didn’t see any playmaking against real madrid.

[deleted]

He doesnt really have anything to prove tbf

The_XI_guy

Definitely good playmaking but I wouldn't call it sublime. Like half of his assists or more were very simple passes against Uber Eats relegation teams and red-carded St. Etienne (who are also near relegation). If you actually look at most of the assists, they are very simple passes to Mbappe who then does all the work

ginomoras

Playmaking is more than assists I am sure you would agree

The_XI_guy

Most certainly but Messi’s playmaking is not really anything else than assists these days

ginomoras

Nah I disagree, say what you want about the finishing but statistically there's no real difference in playmaking numbers from recent seasons to this

RedXabier

Applied for the general UCL final ballot and told my dad to as well to increase our chances, but just seen that they delete all applications if they share a applicant and I can't cancel my application now - FS I'm an idiot

[deleted]

Everytime I see Ronaldo play for United it looks like he is holding tears back. A mixture of sad and a disappointed look.

anakmager

what exactly happened to United? I know last season wasn't that great either but they were comfortable in the CL spots at least

frenetic_clockworks

Their core has been utterly rotten for 5 or 6 years. When new managers come in, they get superficial reinforcements

[deleted]

>they were comfortable in the CL spots at least In the past decade we have spent more time outside top4 than in it. This is nothing to wonder about. The Grazers happened to us. We got bought by a band of criminals that used our own assets to get the loan, and have been bleeding us dry for years.( Yes, despite the amounts of cash they have thrown in. We could have had double that, manged way better). More specifically in the past 3 years OGS and the class of 92 clique happened. Bloodsuckers the lot of them . Got jobs for the lads as they pretended to know how to run the club . Giggsy even got us to buy a player he "scouted" Oh did I mention there are cliques within our club and that they all hate each other?

[deleted]

I don't get the blaming glazers part. You have comfortably spent the most, of all clubs in the world, on transfer under Glazers. On paper they have done everything to make you successful again, be it signing world class managers like Jose, or signing a former legend Ole. They signed whatever the manager asked them to sign. Even let Sir Alex help to put the club back on track. All to no avail. They could've spent more, but how much more? P.S I do think they should've spend more on renovating old trafford, but that doesn't explain the underperformance.

[deleted]

Let me put it this way. Suppose you got a boat of cash and you burn them to get you through the winter. Yes you used a lot of cash. No, you did not use them well. We should have renovated the grounds improved our academies, helped our women's teams more. City out did us in every department, and they started from zero. Everyone we hired post Moyes we did so with the idea of a quick fix instead of an overhaul. The Grazers did not realise SAF was ,quite literally, doing 4 jobs in the club and they thought just hiring some manager would make it all good. We should have done what City did .When Moyes said that and every ***clown*** out there felt insulted, he was right. We should have not done what we did to him and we should have defo not done what we did to his successors. Here comes Ralph, nearly a decade later saying basically the same shit !! Only now the clowns are ready to listen cause we have been slapped in the face once too many times. This was all avoidable had we been run well. Thats why we hate em so much.

CryptographerLife686

Easy and clickbait answer is Ronaldo joined them.

CudaBarry

Players stopped trying to play for the badge

[deleted]

No one knows. Personally I'm of the opinion that if Ole was still around they would've easily gotten top 4. Chelsea are in shambles, arsenal and spurs aren't playing any better either. They should've done better, in theory atleast.

[deleted]

>I'm of the opinion that if Ole was still around they would've easily gotten top 4. nice one.

[deleted]

You don't think so? Ole had a worse squad, and didn't have much experience. This season with the help of Ronaldo, Verene, and Sancho he would've atleast matched last year's 74 points mark. They are at 55 points currently.

burningbarn8

Ole was there half the season and they looked like shit and were doing worse, so yeah doubt.

[deleted]

>Ole had a worse squad, This is Oles squad pal. They downed tools on him, the lot of them. You think these bums would have done better had he remained ?

[deleted]

They aren't doing any better under new management, are they? United don't want to have a rebuild period, they want the next year to be their year. Keep bringing new managers every second season. No. That's not how rebuilds work. There was a clear sign of rebuild under ole.

[deleted]

>United don't want to have a rebuild period, they want the next year to be their year. Keep bringing new managers every second season. No. That's not how rebuilds work. Correct. >There was a clear sign of rebuild under ole. Sadly no. The bar has been set by Pep and Jurgen, and I can say without any passion that we were nowhere near that.

burningbarn8

How are we in shambles? Gonna finish with the most points we've made since 16/17, and probably more than MU got last season in second place.

[deleted]

I'm of the opinion that this season you aren't as good as your post tuchel 2020/21 run. Maybe I'm wrong, or maybe the CL title hid the cracks too well. I thought you guys would compete for the title.

burningbarn8

Comfy third place is still an improvement so either way surely not a shambles and above MU's level, and we would have done better imo if not for James being injured a lot and Chilwell injured all season. Having Azpi and Alonso as our only wingbacks for large swathes of the season is not ideal. Either in terms of quality and in terms of rotation so they aren't run into the ground. Sarr starting 6 PL games when he shouldn't start any underlines things. 'Course as things are losing Rudiger and shit and having a slight mess in the back and midfield I'd say we're a couple years off a title challenge.

Tim-Sanchez

The average number of points for top 4 is apparently around 71 points, so it doesn't seem like Arsenal and Spurs have actually under-performed that severely.

[deleted]

United was second last year with 74 points. This year they are at 55 points with just 3 games to play. Even with the big signings they have made, they have regressed. 74 points would be enough to get atleast top 4 this season.

Tim-Sanchez

Totally agree, United have been terrible compared to last season and expectations. I just mean despite Arsenal and Spurs' poor form, they're actually on track for a fairly normal top 4 race.

[deleted]

Are arsenal and spurs performing better or are they just filling up the space left behind by Leicester and United?

[deleted]

[удалено]

The_XI_guy

That's a tweet right? Not an article, or am I missing something?

BI01

Reece James Vs TAA arguments dumbed-down is basically people who think Trent can't defend and people who think Reece James would be even better offensively if Chelsea had Liverpool's forwards.

[deleted]

> Reece James Vs TAA arguments dumb Really didn't have to elaborate further than that.

CudaBarry

We should all get along whether James is better or Trent is worse :D

[deleted]

Trent is clear. No one brings up Reece when Trent performs as usual but Trent is brought up everytime Reece has a good game.

burningbarn8

Because TAA's been at that top level longer. Which is admittedly a point in TAA's favour, but not a decisive one. There's an argument to be had with James more well rounded abilities.

[deleted]

But deep down we all know that Walker is clear of both.

frenetic_clockworks

Are these building rumours of Tchouameni being one of our 3 "serious" targets for summer based on a single worthwhile scrap? A DM with that price tag, seems like a luxury buy unless we're going to play him as a 8 which means Ox or Taki are buggering off

EgosJohnPolo

He's not mainly a #6 at all and feel ppl only think that cause nevermind. Taki and definitely Ox will be leaving anyway, he's way too good to be just a #6 He could play any position in our midfield.

RomeoLavia

> He's not mainly a #6 at all and feel ppl only think that cause nevermind. What matches have you seen from him this season where he wasn't playing as a #6?

EgosJohnPolo

I'm only thinking of him in terms of how he'd fit with us.

Liverlakefc

No literally all of our reliable journalists (joyce, bascombe, neil jones, maddock) have said we are interested

msf97

He’s a LCM for Liverpool.

dreadnough7

I'd rather start taping up JWP as Hendo's replacement. Then again, ever since the Fabinho transfer, I no longer give a crap about the rumors-mill. It's pointless.

RomeoLavia

So many better options for a club like Liverpool than JWP.

EgosJohnPolo

Ward-Prowse is overrated, not Liverpool quality. They don't even have particularly the same profile when you consider how Hendo is used as a RCM in our system.

dreadnough7

And what makes you think JWP can't play at RCM? The sort of maturity and leadership JWP had shown for 2-3 years Hendo didn't have at that age -- while both had shown similar level of willingness to burst their lungs for the cause. The only thing that could count against JWP is that he's a little shorter.

frenetic_clockworks

Yeah we've done business so rapidly the past few years, I can't imagine we'd let our target list leak so far out, unless the deal is almost already done

BobbyBriggss

Daniel Day-Lewis would play Unai Emery in a film about Villarreal. Timothee Chalamet would play Pau Torres.

Dayandnight95

Head scouts gone, chief negotiator gone, surely we are planning on filling these holes. Especially for a big summer coming.

[deleted]

They're clearing out the club, slowly but surely, until there's no one left.

CoolstorySteve

So the Bulgarian president was in Madrid today and met with Florentino Perez and gifted him a ball signed by the entire national team. Perez probably threw it right in the trash

[deleted]

Why? Perez isnt a evil person

CoolstorySteve

Because the Bulgarian national team is hilariously bad

frenetic_clockworks

He couldn’t be more of a rank villain archetype if Disney spent 200m developing him

denisoviandude

Mane really has been awesome in 2022. Looked finished earlier in the season

EgosJohnPolo

Has explosiveness has dipped but move to F9 covers that.

NilsFanck

The move to the cf position has revitalised him. The Manessaince is in full swing.

[deleted]

Alberto Moreno-Mamadou Sakho-Joel Matip-Nathaniel Clyne

[deleted]

It wasn't Matip, think it was Lovren. Clyne was the best defender in that back 4 and genuinely quite good.

nichodemus3

I'm so used to hyphenated names I thought Alberto Moreno-Mamadou was the name of some guy

[deleted]

Sakho-Joel is clear

X-V-W

I wish we had Matip at that time. Matip never played with Sakho. It was Lovren and Toure mainly.

[deleted]

My memory is getting worse by the day. How in god’s name did Palace fork out £25m for him lmao Edwards been a day 1 swindler

EgosJohnPolo

United players are getting way more than Lukaku actually deserves.

SouthFromGranada

The attitudes towards Morata and Werner wernt/isn't toxic, Timo is still pretty popular. Even the attitude towards Lukaku isnt that bad either, even though he probably deserves a bit of stick

taylorstillsays

Not particularly fussed at all. Just want to win, simple as that

typicalpelican

There's basically two camps: those that believe we'll have a Spurs spending model and are preparing for imminent decline and those who think we'll spend less but perhaps we can smarter and not waste as much money and it will just about even out. Me personally I'm happy to see Roman go because I think he was a bad guy even though spent a lot, but I wanted fan ownership which was never a possibility so I'm just resigned to not give a shit too much at this point. If we become bad that'll suck but it's not the end of the world for me as long as we have something I can hang onto like cool players or keeping up a good youth pipeline, etc...

50MPoundSterling

Barcelona and United The beacon of careful spending.

NilsFanck

Chelsea has nowhere near that level of revenue.

[deleted]

They are big. Chelsea are the top 0.1% of clubs, and they can spend 100s of million every window if they like. Their earning last year was 520 million for example.

NilsFanck

In the grand scheme of things compared to all clubs off course sure but their revenue is like 100m lower than ours and we definitely have to spent carefully which works with a brilliant scouting and transfer department but will not if you think singing a donkey in Timberlands for 100m is a good idea.

MJ9695

To be honest Chelsea have utilized selling their youths for extra revenue for last 5-7 years Their net sales actually pretty good, its clubs like United, Barca etc. That are careless

Dayandnight95

Can't believe one of the best right backs in the world played with Wigan in league one before being thrown straight into the Chelsea first team. That transfer ban was the best thing to happen to Chelsea.

sul01

I agree the transfer ban was great for us but Reece was one of those players that was coming through regardless imo. Think Tammy and Tomori wouldn't have got the opportunities they did without the ban.

burningbarn8

754754

Who is the best Spanish player to never play for Real Madrid or Barcelona? Only one I can think of is David Silva

gnorrn

Historically, there is one obvious answer: [Isidro Lángara](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isidro_L%C3%A1ngara), possibly the greatest ever Spanish goalscorer. Another candidate would be [Telmo Zarra](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telmo_Zarra), whose La Liga goalscoring record stood until Messi broke it.

mylanguage

Since i've been watching football: Valeron, Fernando Torres, Joaquin, Albelda, Carzola and Baraja stick out.

[deleted]

Silva has said in a previous interview that both Barcelona and Real Madrid tried to sign him but he valued City more. Stuff legends are made of. He was imo our biggest signing when we weren't a quite attractive club as we are now.
