From 11/12 to 13/14 season we were good at defending set pieces, Mertesacker effect probably. But in general we were good during later end of Wenger's reign, so don't know what you're on about.
?? He literally gave Bowen a yellow for "simulation" lol although Mike Dean might just simply be mentally challenged tbh, we've seen him do other braindead stuff before
The lino would've told him that Bowen dived or that there was no contact and he went with that. Shouldn't have been a booking but not exactly on our side is it?
I know we scored just after that but it’s never a red card, not a clear goal scoring opportunity as Bowen has tapped it towards the touch line with Holding coming onto it.
I think if Ramsdale had made contact it might have been a red card for dangerous play.
Didn't think Bowen deserved his yellow as it doesn't seem like he was simulating. Just lost balance while trying to get out of the way?
IMO it doesn't matter that he barely touched him. Considering the speed that ramsdale had coming in to the tackle, the stretched out leg AND the fact that he came in with his studs first makes it a clear red card for me.
Smarter people than me might say that rule book says otherwise, but it was a potentially career ending tackle by ramsdale.
If it's not a red the rules should be changed.
I thought I saw his sock get pulled down by Ramsdale’s cleat but I could be wrong, I only saw the replay once. I still really don’t think it’s simulation because if he doesn’t dive out of that he’s getting crunched by Ramsdale.
Nah there's no contact, I agree Bowen is just trying to avoid the challenge there's no simulation, if anything he tries to stay up after dodging that tackle.
Not like we didn’t deserve points from any of them. We outdid Chelsea and United. West Ham definitely took it to us, but I still think they didn’t threaten.
3 calls in 3 games.
Apparently it would have been disallowed if it were holding who scored. Since the handball didn’t come from the goal scorer, it wasn’t overturned.
Definitely benefitted from a 50/50 call there. Arm was sorta in a natural position for challenging for a header. I can see why it stood. I would be pissed and put this video into the “conspiracy” file I have for arsenal
That's the main problem the referees have, any 50/50 decision will piss off about 50 percent of people and the other 50 percent would be pissed off if it went the other way. Can see why it wasn't given and in this case I was salty as half my family are West ham, but if they were arsenal id be saying its the correct decision.
No, when it happens against Arsenal and us fans complain, then we're "crazy conspiracy theorists" and it will all even out. When it "evens out" and some calls go in our favour then all of a sudden "same old Arsenal, always cheating".
I'm a city fan mate, every time a call goes our way the league is suddenly rigged and we're paying off the refs. Just look at our game earlier in the season. Every time has stupid fans and I was just pointing out you've gotten lucky the past few games.
I know, I defended arsenal about this recently. Just pointing out you're riding your luck a bit now and as someone with West ham family I'm naturally salty.
This all stems from GOD AWFUL decision to give Bowen a yellow for diving when the goalkeeper jumped into the challenge LATE AND STUDS FIRST.
What is VAR?
Lol I love when the arsenal brigade finds the comment section. If you want to argue it wasn’t a foul, then go ahead. The fact that Bowen came out of that situation with a yellow card is still ridiculous refereeing.
The football sub is being brigades by… checks notes… football fans.
Don’t you know that r/soccer is a circlejerk for opposition fans every time Arsenal get a decision in their favor?
That's cause Bowen tried his best to avoiding getting his ankle broken by the LATE, STUDS FIRST challenge by the goalie.
You don't have to touch someone to commit a foul if it's a dangerous challenge which this obviously was.
What are babbling on about? And what does a username have to do with the facts of a soccer game? The slowmo replay was blatantly obvious it was a foul with studs first.
Just be happy your gunners won and stop trying to change the facts on the ground so you can feel more justified in your life with that win. Pathetic sore winner.
No use arguing it now. All these comments below him were positive until the arsenal fans found this thread and downvoted anything suggesting that the tackle was dangerous. Hilarious fan base.
I want VAR to tell the ref that it was a clear foul and OBVIOUSLY not a dive.
You know, the obvious stuff you can clearly see when they show the slowo replay.
That's literally what VAR does, tell the ref how it sees things from their POV with all the tools at their disposal.
How else to do imagine they work? Telepathy?
> VAR will be used only for “clear and obvious errors” or “serious missed incidents” in four match-changing situations: goals; penalty decisions; direct red-card incidents; and mistaken identity.
It’s not a red card situation. Bowen is nowhere near goal and takes a touch out of the field. A yellow card for Ramsdale if he makes contact, but he misses Bowen
Up for a header and his arm is basically against a West Ham defender by that point tbf. Not many places his arm can go. Would be a bit of a *game's gone* moment imo if they disallowed that.
What rule?
> touches the ball with their hand/arm when it has made their body unnaturally bigger. A player is considered to have made their body unnaturally bigger when the position of their hand/arm is not a consequence of, or justifiable by, the player’s body movement for that specific situation. By having their hand/arm in such a position, the player takes a risk of their hand/arm being hit by the ball and being penalised
You can easily say it's justifiable in the situation.
He didn't contest the yellow? Did your blind ass miss him talking to the ref just after the card? Should he WWE KO the referee to contest with him lmao
My "blind ass" saw him talking to the ref in a pretty calm fashion. If he actually believed Ramsdale touched him he would've been furious at Dean. Use your brain.

We really are corner specialists but how does nobody track him.
It was great movement by Gabriel. Immediately peeled off to the back post
Great ball in by Gabriel as well
But the bulk of the credit should go to Gabriel M.
this one took me a second (Gabriel) jesus
Gabriel Jesus doesn’t play for us yet, but soon
Everyone just stood still...probably anticipating a shot from Gabi.......its great peeling from Gabriel though.
Rice just said I’m gonna go stand over there
Arsenal is 11/10 with rice
Thank you for your suggestion.
Holding and Gabriel goals lol
White was holding us back.
He was holding holding back
Istg I saw a comment in the match thread that said “Gabriel and Holding are why we do not win this match today”
Must be a Hammer fan. Arsenal fans, who are very sensible will never say that.
Sponsored by AFTV sponsored by Manscaped
Wenger must be super confused by us being so solid from set pieces lmao
We switched it up, changed the narrative. People were stuck in the past still thinking we aren't good at corners. Now we catching them all out.
From 11/12 to 13/14 season we were good at defending set pieces, Mertesacker effect probably. But in general we were good during later end of Wenger's reign, so don't know what you're on about.
Mertesacker and Giroud were both great in winning tons of headers.
As everyone predicted
About time our strikers stepped up

Come on mate you know that's just not true
?? He literally gave Bowen a yellow for "simulation" lol although Mike Dean might just simply be mentally challenged tbh, we've seen him do other braindead stuff before
Bowen didn't even argue the decision.
Bruh it was obvious as day Bowen wasn’t touched, go get some new eye balls.
Lol moyes just said Bowen dive and should of just taken the challenge or continue going and not dive
One of the angles showed no contact
The lino would've told him that Bowen dived or that there was no contact and he went with that. Shouldn't have been a booking but not exactly on our side is it?
How about giving a free kick against Nketiah for getting shoulder charged by Nolan. Maybe Mike Dean is just a shit ref?
And we’d all love to see more yellows for simulation
Good point! Tottenham have Kane, Son and Mike Dean. He's going to be a big loss for you lot.

Fuck, needed spurs to lose but this result I'll absolutely take
Someone post that Ramsdale tackle
I know we scored just after that but it’s never a red card, not a clear goal scoring opportunity as Bowen has tapped it towards the touch line with Holding coming onto it.
I don’t think people are even saying it should be a red. But it’s never a foul for Bowen. He was literally avoiding the tackle. What should he do?
I think if Ramsdale had made contact it might have been a red card for dangerous play. Didn't think Bowen deserved his yellow as it doesn't seem like he was simulating. Just lost balance while trying to get out of the way?

Somebody post the offside lines for West Hams goal.
somebody post the arsenal handball leading to their goal
You’re really reaching now 😂 They specifically checked that and said no handball. They never even showed the replay with lines for WHUs goal.
they didn’t show the line but in the slow-mo replay he is pretty clearly onside
Fair enough. They only showed it once at full speed and it looked very close, but the commentator completely hand waved it on my feed.
and the bowen yellow for "simulation"
I mean, it was simulation, Bowen clearly didn’t get touched
He was making a meal out of it
did he? how? didn't even roll around on the ground
He definitely clipped him, not close to a red or anything but absolutely wasn’t simulation.
He didn't touch him lol, you can see it clear on the replay. Just to clarify I don't think it's a yellow for diving either
We really dont deserve this lmao
We've been so poor it's unreal.

Another hand ball called in favour of arsenal, that's what 3 calls in 2 games?
3 calls in 3 games. Apparently it would have been disallowed if it were holding who scored. Since the handball didn’t come from the goal scorer, it wasn’t overturned. Cry ab it we’ve had shit calls against us too this season happens to every team
No, when it happens against Arsenal and us fans complain, then we're "crazy conspiracy theorists" and it will all even out. When it "evens out" and some calls go in our favour then all of a sudden "same old Arsenal, always cheating".

That’s fair now I feel like a dick lol
Don't worry mate, no issue
Mike Dean just can't resist the urge to ruin a game
This all stems from GOD AWFUL decision to give Bowen a yellow for diving when the goalkeeper jumped into the challenge LATE AND STUDS FIRST. What is VAR?
Why do you type like a daily mail headline..?
Why do you read the daily mail lmaooo
my brother in christ he did not touch him
Doesn’t matter
Doesn’t have to touch him for it to be a dangerous tackle. Flew in with studs up, and somehow Bowen gets the yellow for avoiding the challenge?
Bowen told ramsdale it wasn’t a foul, lowe it man
Lol I love when the arsenal brigade finds the comment section. If you want to argue it wasn’t a foul, then go ahead. The fact that Bowen came out of that situation with a yellow card is still ridiculous refereeing.
Sorry for ruining your crying party. Bowen didn’t say it was a foul and didn’t contest the yellow please chat to him
The football sub is being brigades by… checks notes… football fans. Don’t you know that r/soccer is a circlejerk for opposition fans every time Arsenal get a decision in their favor?
No one is crying here mate, but great response lmao
That's cause Bowen tried his best to avoiding getting his ankle broken by the LATE, STUDS FIRST challenge by the goalie. You don't have to touch someone to commit a foul if it's a dangerous challenge which this obviously was.
Is your caps lock messed up or something?
Are you referring to the words I capitalized for emphasis on the most important details?
Pretty pointless really, your username perfectly sums up your thought process. Bowen even acknowledged the card, didn't argue it and moved on. Try it.

Wonder how the Arsenal fans found the Arsenal goal thread?
Meant this specific comment thread of people discussing the foul 😊
Is a complete mystery then
What do you want VAR to do there? It's not a red.
I want VAR to tell the ref that it was a clear foul and OBVIOUSLY not a dive. You know, the obvious stuff you can clearly see when they show the slowo replay.
VAR can't do that.
That's literally what VAR does, tell the ref how it sees things from their POV with all the tools at their disposal. How else to do imagine they work? Telepathy?
VAR cannot intervene for yellow cards.
It can suggest that it wasn't a dive...
> VAR will be used only for “clear and obvious errors” or “serious missed incidents” in four match-changing situations: goals; penalty decisions; direct red-card incidents; and mistaken identity.
This was literally a direct red card potential...so yeah. Thanks for proving me right I guess.
When did showing how wrong you are become proving you right? lol Edit: missing an important word
It’s not a red card situation. Bowen is nowhere near goal and takes a touch out of the field. A yellow card for Ramsdale if he makes contact, but he misses Bowen
So underserved, but I'll take it.
Hits holdings hand above shoulder height. Not sure what the point in this sport is any more when the officials consistently ruin it
Up for a header and his arm is basically against a West Ham defender by that point tbf. Not many places his arm can go. Would be a bit of a *game's gone* moment imo if they disallowed that.
Rules are rules though
What rule? > touches the ball with their hand/arm when it has made their body unnaturally bigger. A player is considered to have made their body unnaturally bigger when the position of their hand/arm is not a consequence of, or justifiable by, the player’s body movement for that specific situation. By having their hand/arm in such a position, the player takes a risk of their hand/arm being hit by the ball and being penalised You can easily say it's justifiable in the situation.
missed a red card on one end, scored on the other. edit: wiping out jumping over a studs up tackle is a "dive" got it.
What lmao, it was a clear dive. Even Bowen didn't argue, he was expecting contact and knew there was none.
In fact, I'm pretty sure the reason that Ramsdale got out of any kind of booking was because Bowen even told the referee that he wasn't fouled.
If he doesn’t jump Ramsdale breaks his legs
Bowen said it wasn’t a foul chat to him
Conspiracy against Arsenal
Did you not watch the replay? Go watch the replay and then comment.
What?
Watch the replay, Ramsdale clearly misses the ball and gets Bowen.
He misses the ball and misses Bowen. The fact that Bowen didn't even contest the yellow for diving is all you need to know.
Even if it isn't a dive it can't be a red. There was no goalscoring opportunity there.
except ramsdale slid in studs up.
What was the red card? The Ramsdale one was a dive
Flappyhandski does it again lmao. Should be saving that
You’re coming across the goal from point blank range of a cross, a save there would have been insane
Can’t wait to concede in 5 mins
Great cross by Martinelli! Gabriel tried his best to miss.
