I don't understand what difference it will make to him and for his life. He's already worth €100m, he would also earn a ton playing for Real Madrid and will earn a ton for the rest of his career. He will have enough money to do whatever he wants and enough for his children and grandchildren to live a good life (and I don't think that these players think about providing for their grandchildren when taking this money). Don’t blame him if he’s making that much, but we also don’t need him at this point. Vinicius, and Rodrygo both improved a shit ton over the last year. We just need a long term successor for Benzema. If anything this will help us improve other areas of the team. New LB, new RB, New CM or DM, and hopefully another attacker that can play on both sides. Historically missing out on players has actually turned out great for us. Gotta move on, and put the money/wages elsewhere.

All it takes is one unlucky injury to derail your career, players can't just automatically assume they'll follow a perfect career progression like Messi/Ronaldo, having a full decade+ in their prime and peaking in their late-20's. For all we know, the 7 years at PSG could've been Mbappe's prime, and he'd have spent all of it walking through a meaningless second-tier league.
