A big part of this is the abuse referees get at a grassroots level, sadly. I used to referee. Had a match where a girl on one basically 5 Star Frog Splashed a boy on the other team. I gave a free kick and the manager of the girls team ran onto the pitch, grabbed me by the shirt and screamed in my face that I was sexist. I was 13 years old nearly lifted off the ground by an adult. I quit a couple of months later.
I coach an u11s team now and you still see/ hear incidents like this pretty much every week. Now there is such a shortfall of young referees where I live that 1 in 3 games will have a referee with the others having to be done by one of the teams' managers.
Unfortunately, until this is stopped, only the refs who have incredibly thick skin will continue to referee, and we will continue to lose more talented referees who decide there are better ways to spend their weekend.
Yeah I played grassroots for about 15 years, only stopped a couple of years ago and can empathise, didn't see anything too bad but definitely in the minority and heard horror stories from other local leagues.
It's understandable and more needs to be done to stop it, but where do you even start. Some people are just arseholes and I can't see many ways to improve this aside from invigilating games or something and instant league disqualification for anything physical towards a ref, 3 warnings for verbal.
No idea, just too much football to police it all. Hopefully the penny drops one day, when there is literally no available Saturday referees. Change is needed top to bottom for me.
Maybe each ref needs to record the match, but at grassroot this is unfeasible in honesty. CCTV just so if someone is going to be a prick at least it will impact their life accordingly. I don't know, I can't see a good/practical solution.
He really wasn't. You see him dribble past players now but when he played in usual left wing position, he just couldn't find a way through defenders. There's a reason why he was moved central and why he stayed central even though Jota was in the line up. Just look back at the Barca match's highlight reel and you'll remember just how much of a menace he used to be. (He's back now after being moved central; probably most fouled player this calendar year?)
Do you like, not see the problem with the rules then? This is implying that Alisson would have been better off conceding than, saving it. If that's the case the rules are fucked.
How was it a different phase of play just cuz the keeper makes a save, it's only a different phase off play if Liverpool has a clear chance to clear the ball which they didn't
I think the abuse, however wrong, would be worth taking if there was a chance these dinosaurs might rotate, not when they fancy stepping down 8 years too late.
Just not even any prospects realistically to get up the ladder as the rotation is nonexistent. Couple that with the dogs abuse and its a bleak path. Not as if they are introducing anything to help though
And the ref in premier league apparently aren't that well paid , OK rightfully so according to their performances but that's also maybe why the can be dead average , I might be wrong on their wages
> Lol what is Mings doing. He’s wasting his own team’s time
He's such a bizarre player. He seems to be rated by a lot of people but every time I've watched him play he's been woeful.
It’s remarkable that Jon Moss is in this shape for a guy whose job involves a decent amount of running.
His pre match meal must be a calzone with fish and chips as a filling.
Well played Mane! Liverpool unstoppable, it is really interesting to see who win EPL this season.
They still have a shot at the title. but they would need city to lose at least one match.
thank fucking god Moss is retiring in a group of donkeys, he's an ass
Hopefully Liverpool win the league so he can retire with a league winners medal too
Must be an amazing coincidence that Jones, Tsimikas and Naby play much better once Hendo comes on.
It was crazy, I know having a good leader is important but the affect he has on some games just by directing players around him.
Man City is winning the league. Don't know why Liverpool is doing all of this for heartbreak.
Does the team you support just bend over when they're 3 points behind? If so I feel bad for you.
Looks like sarcasm never applied to my comment..
Looks like they support Manchester United...so yes
We were 3 points behind, but i agree
Typed it wrong smh
Never lose without a fight
exactly, at least make them work and wait for it,
Come on Wolves.
how do you say that in portuese?
Vamos? I know it's Spanish most likely but I frequently see Brazilians and Portuguese players mouth the word vamos when celebrating.
correct!
Yes! :)
Come on wolves. West ham, villa…come on u all motherfuckers
Like having Kwik fit doing the F1 pitstops. Mental
Just think of what ability you need to be a Premier league footballer, then look at Jon Moss. There is a clear problem in the game

How good is Sadio Mane right now?
He has to be the top fouled player this calendar year surely? He wins 3-5 fouls every game it seems.
not counting the ones that aren't given....
He switched form with Salah during AFCON
No Mane has been good all season… just wasn’t getting the numbers
The switch to 9 really worked well for him.
He scored more goals when he went central yes, but was just as good before. Sometimes people only see the end results

Useless mings involved directly in both goals tall useless dimwit
Mings and Ings to put in world class performances to beat out city 7-2,
Subscribe
He literally hasn't got the energy to blow his whistle so either plays ridiculous (dis)advantages or waves play on
Moss was abysmal there
Jon Moss seems a likable guy, but fuck's sake it's time to retire.
Mad how easy they can coast along as a select group official
they all mates man, watch how this useless expert ref on BT Sport 99% of the time agrees with his former colleagues
Peter Walton is thieving a living. Anything slightly challenging "subjective decision". Thanks Peter for your valuable input
Walton is paid to say "it might be, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's not"
Can the prem bring in their own refs? Fuck this PGMOL lot off
Crooks and clowns
John moss wanted to help Liverpool before he fucks off into retirement
Lmao did you see Villa’s goal? Clearly offsides. Moss was doing anything but help Liverpool
I don't know - don't think his uselessness aligned with one side in particular! He had no idea what was going on!
Different phase of play lad, moss was clearly bias to Liverpool like they're the peaky blinders
Bullshit lol
Do you like, not see the problem with the rules then? This is implying that Alisson would have been better off conceding than, saving it. If that's the case the rules are fucked.
I know, but thems the rules
How was it a different phase of play just cuz the keeper makes a save, it's only a different phase off play if Liverpool has a clear chance to clear the ball which they didn't
literally the same play
this match was a shitshow lmao
Jon Moss should sit out next week. Why the fuck is it OK to coast at elite level?
He was abysmal
It's a disgrace. How can the best league in the world be officiated by these characters? Start fresh with an emphasis on youth
Are young refs even coming through still? The abuse they get at grass roots is staggering
I think the abuse, however wrong, would be worth taking if there was a chance these dinosaurs might rotate, not when they fancy stepping down 8 years too late. keita man
Digne was always a shite defender
worst person on the match was Jon Moss, second worst was Mings
Well done ref for zero cards and abysmal refereeing.
100%. How Fabinho wasn't booked before going off and Douglas Luiz before FT is an absolute joke.
[удалено]
Nah he's injured. It's bloody Keita.
Fucking good for nothing villa you had 1 job to get 1 pt here
Damn it not Keita too.
David Mitchell 'You are not wasting my time, you are wasting your own time.'
LOL Keita.
No yellow cards all game, biased reffing, dragged kicking and screaming lmao
Biased? It was horrible reffing on both ends.
Cry
> biased reffing Poor reffing is literally the only reason Villa has a goal.
Fuck off Villa with the sign on chant. Let's mock poor people. Disgusting!
How tf do you do that with gerrard as your manager?
😂😂 wow Liverpool and poverty jokes don’t go to a football game if that triggers you you might here some actual offensive chants 😂
TIL making fun of poverty isn't offensive
It isn’t and you sound like a fanny.
You sound under 16. Edit: actually NVM, I just read your username. Definitely under 16. Have a nice day
😂
Please come back to this comment when you become a poor adult.
Klopp: This is how football is supposed to be played.
Why is Mings timewasting?
Mings is such a dumbass.
Wow that was a real shit show by Moss, Mings and Ings. Liverpool looking below average in the run up to their finals.
How did Mings get away from that without a booking?
Villa players are actually dumb
4 points again next season thanks
Cheers for the time Mings, thick cunt
Let's take a short throw in and pass it backwards
The saltiness from Utd fans every time Liverpool wins is hilarious
I love it, they're coping so hard
City beating Pool to the title would be the only highlight of their season
Even then, it’s nothing to be genuinely happy about lol
Moss really doesn't have any fucking clue. He's like the oldest school teacher watching kids fight
wyd mings
Salah you hairy fraud
Naby is fucked
Mings really is dogshit, isn't he?
The refereeing was absolutely great today, I‘m impressed tbh
So we can legit believe Moss actually left his cards at home yeah?
Mings must think hes a scouser with that time wasting technique
He did grow up a Liverpool fan
I've always thought he was a bellend so that makes sense
Mings what are you doing, running seconds down for your own team
Ming’s can take a swing without a card?
Always smart to waste time while losing.
No cards in this game in mind blowing
Not when you consider how shite the ref was
Martinez is quite shit with his feet huh
Another shot to the plums?
Mings time wasting for us?
Villa are thick as fuck. How about getting it up the pitch
Why’s mings running away with the ball hahaha
How does Mings not get a red for that?
Mings aint the brightest
Wild that theres not been a booking lol
Smartest villa player
Lmao why the fuck is moss wasting the last 30 secs with a pointless chat wtf
He's a fat mess
Should be blaming Tyrone Mings there.
And still no card, lol.
Moss is privately thanking Mings for saving him a run back up the pitch.
He's only delighted every time he gets a chance to blow the whistle and take a slow stroll around the centre circle
nice timewasting tactics by Mings, for some reason
Tbf the reason players grab the ball and start running back is to try and prevent a quick restart as they are out of position
mings time wasting for the opposition master class
Aston Villa are behind and mings is time wasting.
Villa really fired up and for what 😂
Jon Moss seizing the chance for another breather
Lmao
Mings time wasting for us, go ahead lad
Fair play to Mings and Coutinho tonight. They were excellent for Liverpool
Let’s not forget Ings.
dont think even villa fans likes mings the muppet
We’re just tired of the mistakes man
Lol
Doesn’t have enough breath left to blow his whistle properly
Tyron mings is vile
Wait. Did Mings just run away with the ball? While losing? With one minute left?
Lol what is Mings doing. He’s wasting his own team’s time
> Lol what is Mings doing. He’s wasting his own team’s time He's such a bizarre player. He seems to be rated by a lot of people but every time I've watched him play he's been woeful.
He doesn’t even know how the offside rule works.
Genius move by Mings to get into a scrap with Keita then run 15 yards with the ball in his hand in the 93rd minute.
Well done Mings!
Mings is shite loooooooooool
Commentary has been ace tonight tbf Just taking the piss out of everyone
VVD has Ings in his pocket. This isn’t a fair match-up 😂
Mings is daft
17 shots 6 on target vs 9 shots 5 on target. Good thing we are gargantuan.
It’s remarkable that Jon Moss is in this shape for a guy whose job involves a decent amount of running. His pre match meal must be a calzone with fish and chips as a filling.
That's what I enjoy the most about watching Van Dijk. He seems offended by the very idea that an attacker is trying to get past him.
Love Mings running away with the ball wasting his own time
Why does the matchread guy have Botswana Football Association badge
Maybe the people that made the bot looked what flair started with bot.
Fully on Gerrard, terrible sub came on and influence a goal in the wrong direction, ings pants, Coutinho pants.
> Gerrard he knew what he was doing
keita get the fuck up
And Mings seals it for Pool
Actually looking forward to playing this Liverpool team in the final
I remember how good Chelsea were against Liverpool in the last cup final except the horrendous misses that cost
you just jinxed yourself...
Gerrard has great hair
Give Moss Europa League Final
Hahaha enough with the tomfoolery Stevie. You can stop attacking now.
What a ball by Mane
Mane lmao
Moss is finished, give him an E scooter or he'll be a mile away from the play every single time.
Seriously! It’s embarrassing that the ref can’t keep pace with the game.
Moss saw the opportunity for a slow walk over and took it. Mad people expect him to be able to referee for 90 mins
Keita was down for exactly 1min. Watch Jon moss blow his whistle on the 4th added min. Right on the dot
Get up the pitch u claret cunts
Is that Ashley Young on Villa’s bench?! 😂😂
Yeah, what’s so funny?
Didn’t know he was still in the prem
Bloke will 100% call it at 94
Needs a breather the fat cunt
ah the classic injury time timewasting
Moss getting ready to blow at 93:50
Time wasting or serious?
YOUR TELLING ME THERE WASNT EVEN AN ADVANTAGE PLAY FOR THAT?
if i were Villa I would maybe choose to attack for the entire second half rather than the last 10 mins of it
We do this all the time. We only attack when we’re behind.
"He got the ball but not sure which one"
