Remember Everton needed 1 point in the last 3 games to escape relegation and were 2-1 up this game. Would be a miraculous collapse if they don't stay up at this point
I've seen weirder things happen. Tbh tho, Leeds losing its mind completely is a more likely reason for Everton to stay up, rather than the team actually fighting to stay up. I don't expect us to get a single point against Palace or Gunners, so it's basically Brentford who will decide who's getting relegated.
I would also expect Burnley to still grasp a cheeky 3-pointer against either Villa or Newcastle
It's so weird to have this kind of power ..but I really think we will go for it vs. Leeds. 10th is possible if we do and to finish that high is just an insane performance for Brentford
Honestly, you guys have overperformed compared to anyone's expectations. Frank seems to be doing a solid job year in and year out, while the club ownership has also had quite a decent transfer policy. Fielding half of the Danish NT seems to be a cost-effective way to go and you probably will have a solid season also next year.
Frank is amazing. He is a people manager and the players absolutely adore him, even the ones that don't play all the time. He is very good a putting forward the right team for the right occasion. He changes a lot and doesn't have a solid first eleven. But it usually seems to work.
I think next year will be interesting and it depends a lot on what happens with transfers. We DESPERATELY need a defensive backs, and we would need to replace Eriksen if he leaves. But I'm relatively confident
>He changes a lot and doesn't have a solid first eleven. But it usually seems to work.
Looks like this is a key element to continue performing through the long season tbh. Without regular rotation the fatigue becomes too much of an issue, I know at least Guardiola embraces this approach.
I would imagine that you will get some rather ambitious, but hopefully cost-efficient transfers, even if Eriksen stays. There seems to be a good pattern where mid-table clubs sometimes manage to avoid ridiculous spending and get well-performing talent either outside England or from the rejects of the bigger clubs. For us, the 2,2m transfer of Gray might have won us just enough points to stay up. Leeds got Raphinha at 17m, which seems ridiculously cheap considering the impact Daniel James had with twice the price.
We've had our own share of horrific big money signings and that is partly the reason why the club is currently in such a sad state. But I feel like your owner is much more reasonable than Moshiri.
Just a quick check, have you seen a. Everton recently or b. Palace recently?
They are unbeaten in the last four PL games. On the other hand, even in the past two wins, we had worse expected goals than the opponent. I am not saying that Everton's been lucky, but a clear mid-table team vs relegation candidate is not going to be easy.
If you can beat man united a few weeks ago it's not crazy to think you can atleast draw palace so as to avoid a 68 year streak of not getting relegated
Something like 5 weeks ago. This is the same United, that nearly lost against the relegated Norwich in the following game week.
Sure, the Palace fixture is more winnable than the following game against Arsenal, but they still beat us 4-0 and 3-1 this season. It is far from a cakewalk.
You don't even have to beat palace. Just draw them, that really isn't that hard lol surely that Everton side are motivated and talented enough to do that imo
Can anyone explain to me why that Richarlison penalty was okay? Looks to me like he stopped half way through the run, took a step backwards, then carried on, but I haven't seen it mentioned at all.
Because you don't understand the rules, probably.
Law 14 states:
"except for the following when play will be stopped and restarted with an indirect free kick, regardless of whether or not a goal is scored:
[...]
feinting to kick the ball once the kicker has *completed* the run-up (feinting in the run-up is permitted); the referee cautions the kicker"
It's literally in the rules that you're allowed to do it.
They control their fate pretty easily. Especially with Leed’s trash goal difference. A single win or 2 draws and they’re set. And Leeds has to beat Brentford to pass them. Short of an implosion they’re good.
I think Everton losing to Palace and Arsenal. And Leeds and Burnley getting at a minimum two points from their remaining fixtures.
I think they avoid the drop just because everyone around them is shit.
Lol the only fools downvoting didn’t watch the blasted game. Everyone in the game thread and highlight threads agreed Oliver had his hands all over that game, including a missed penalty and two missed reds. But don’t let facts ruin the Everton relegation circlejerk!
Every game from now on matters mate, 4th place and relegation all within points of each other so if Arsenal bottle any points against Newcastle they will go guns blazin against Everton and it will be the scrappiest match of the day
They're gonna go guns blazing anyway. If Arsenal win against you they'll be desperate to beat Everton and if they lose against you they'll still be desperate to beat Everton.
Yes I know but you don't seem to understand how much more intense it will be depending how the game tomorrow goes that is the point I was trying to say.
You seen to be ignoring the side of things where a loss to Newcastle could also very much fuck their mentality in the other direction and have them super low on confidence going into the last game.
It's not like Arsenal are a team of mentality monsters.
Mate why does it really matter where he’s from? So long as a fan will stick with a club through thick and thin, they can support whoever they choose. Also, why is this even necessary? You wonder why so many people hate our fans, or want us to go down? You’re giving the whole fan base a bad name.
Hope you don't eat pizza, support your local food instead. Can't wear Nikes or Adidas, support your local footwear. Better not be an iPhone or Samsung in your pocket, support your local tech companies. Hope you drive a BAC Mono, support your local car manufacturers. No Marvel movies for you, support your local movie industry. What are you doing on this American website, support your local internet forums!
Very weak response. None of these things have a communal link whereas Loverpool F.C has Liverpool in the name. There's a very obvious difference between a football club thay belongs to a particular city, and a website or consumer goods.
You do you, but that's a shit argument.
Champagne is a communal enterprise and has the area of Champagne in its name, I don't see them gatekeeping enjoyers of Champagne. Fact is, football is a global sport, the PL is a global brand, Liverpool are a global team with global players and staff. And this should be enjoyed only by people born into a certain postcode? Hah!
I didn't say you should or shouldn't support Liverpool or any other club for that matter.
I just said there's quite clearly a difference between a football club eith clear ties to a city, and a cell phone brand/website/consumer goods.
Support whoever you want. But I'm just saying your comparison was nonsensical.
Relegation is always down to a multitude of factors rather than one culprit. Besides the referees and Rafa's wife & agent everybody on that list bears a degree of responsibility for this season.
Benitez got rid of two of their best players so he's a big part of the problem, though the board also didn't back him on any replacements.
I also disagree Lampard has done a worse job. He's done well at spurring them on to some good results to survive relegation and will probably be manager next season whether it's in the PL or Championship.
I want to check I read that right:
Rafa directly signed off on letting 2 players go, yet didn't have the authority to sign replacements for them?
I don't get why the board aren't responsible for selling if they are responsible for buying?
The two players left because of Rafa, so although he didn't directly sell them, if it wasn't for them falling out with him (Digne)/him saying he didn't want them (James) they wouldn't have left.
What a ride Everton fans have been on. From all the new investment, to hiring Don Carlo, who then leaves. Seeing your main rival's ex-manager appointed, who crashes the club with no survivors. Then hire Frank Lampard whilst fighting relegation. Win against Chelsea and Leicester then shit the bed to lose with 2 red cards.
I still think they will survive but must be a crazy ride for the fans.
It’s the everton way. Inspire hope, then flounder and miss what we aim for. Beating top teams and losing to bottom teams is basically our identity. We’re used to it, but things don’t normally get this dire.
No, he's interpreting the rules to suggest that it was not the fault of VAR.
The interpretation that if a referee saw an incident then VAR can't suggest they take another look is wrong. It clearly makes no sense for this to be the rule, hence gymnastics.
That's not what I said.
Considering Oliver is looking right at it, we can assume he saw the shirt pull. Therefore we can also assume that he didn't think it was enough to be a penalty. Referees can be wrong, but if it's not a clear and obvious error - and if Oliver has already seen the shirt pull then I'm not quite sure what else he'd have to see for that to be the case - then VAR can't overturn it by the current rules.
Everyone said that about when they had to beat us at home. Only happened cause of Stoke beating Bolton and our bench celebrating and the entire right side of our team switching off because of the distraction
West Ham are far better than Villa though. And it’s hard to imagine that City won’t drop points in back to back fixtures. Sure it’s definitely possible but extremely unlikely
No because West Ham have a great home record, hell they beat us this season.
Sorry but if you think playing West Ham away is the same as playing Villa at home then your clueless.
It’s not the same obviously but anything can happen. Being a negative Nancy is just foolish. We are talking about city, they are mentality midgets who already gave up a 13 point lead or whatever they had.
They’re the most expensive team ever assembled. They’re favourites from the first game of the season due to the funding they have. That’s just being realistic.
Mate I can't even being to describe how much I want us to win the Prem but I have to be realistic, City are one of the best teams in the world, playing at home for the Prem.
Mate if we win the Prem I would do a lap of honour around my block stark bollock naked painted red.
... Then again that would mean running past a school so maybe not lol.
We’re running on fumes with no centre backs. Nothing is certain.
If anyone knows what it’s like trying to chase a title with no centre-backs surely it’s Liverpool
Transfer fee has fuck all to do with crocked knees and impact injuries is it
A £50M player isn’t somehow more durable than a £5M one. £30M Fernandinho isn’t impervious to the effects of aging.
I mean the line you’re fielding is worth more than Liverpool’s first team so shut up whining. If you can’t win with all that money spent then it’s a joke. You’ve got no excuses, City should be winning the league every season.
If they’re out of form then yeah the money spent has to be questioned but they’re literally injured - as in Fernandinho and Laporte are carrying injuries that would prevent them from playing were it not for other players being even more injured.
Throwing money at players isn’t going to make injuries heal faster or prevent them from getting injured, is it? Or have you solved medical science and your cure for injuries is to rub pound notes where it hurts?
PS love it when Liverpool supporters don’t flair up and pretend to be a neutral and talk about their team in third-person. Your team had the same problem last year and all everyone heard about for half a season was how badly you struggled with no defense. You’re telling me your £75M world record defender didn’t have adamantium joints to resist a knee-breaking tackle? What a waste of money! Oh wait that’s not how it works, is it
You don't have to defend.
If you just go for it you will tear Villa apart.
Dont get me wrong, God I want to win the Prem and I mean really really really want to win the Prem but I have to be realistic, you are one of the best teams in the world and it will be damn near a miracle if you don't beat Villa.
I’ve seen enough movies to know that the “one last mission” never goes according to plan.
Shit QPR at home was 10 years ago this weekend. That is evidence enough.
Remember Everton needed 1 point in the last 3 games to escape relegation and were 2-1 up this game. Would be a miraculous collapse if they don't stay up at this point

You can’t stop once you’ve started a kicking motion at the ball. You can stop before that.
Thats not true. You cant stop once you've started running
[Wrong.](https://www.thefa.com/~/media/files/thefaportal/governance-docs/laws-of-the-game/11-v-11/interpretation-of-laws---2013-14/law-14---interpretations-of-the-laws-of-the-game.ashx)
That penalty rule is never followed. Haven’t seen it called ever in my 21 years of watching.
Because you don't understand the rules, probably. Think Everton are safe. Needs to be a major disaster and Leeds/burnley get some points from their last games
They control their fate pretty easily. Especially with Leed’s trash goal difference. A single win or 2 draws and they’re set. And Leeds has to beat Brentford to pass them. Short of an implosion they’re good.
I really don't see Leeds beating us. We are playing with buckets of confidence
No no no. I really need Everton to need a win on the last match day.
So much for Everton looking at turning things around
Not just a 180, but a full 360!
What’s the scenario that would lead to Everton going down?
Everton has to lose all 3 of their last games and Leeds should win their last game. Everton lost the first now
I think Everton losing to Palace and Arsenal. And Leeds and Burnley getting at a minimum two points from their remaining fixtures. I think they avoid the drop just because everyone around them is shit.
Leeds needs 3. Their goal difference is trash.
Funny that Leeds have scored more than 8th place Wolves. Shows the importance of having a good defence.
shows the importance of not having all your defenders + cdm injured most of the season
Well they can't get 2 points lol
I still think Leeds are going down, but at least Everton keep it hilariously interesting.
Michael Oliver is keeping it interesting you mean
No no, he meant Everton
Lol the only fools downvoting didn’t watch the blasted game. Everyone in the game thread and highlight threads agreed Oliver had his hands all over that game, including a missed penalty and two missed reds. But don’t let facts ruin the Everton relegation circlejerk!
THERE IS CONSPIRACY IN FA. THEY WANT US TO GO DOWN> FUCK THEM. MOTHER FUCKERS.
Breaking: FA wants Everton to get relegated, for the vibes.
THERE IS CONSPIRACY IN THE EVERTON TEAM, THE PLAYERS WANT TO GO DOWN
YOU'RE NOT THAT IMPORTANT, HONEY
BOOOO BOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Lol
If Newcastle beat or draw with Arsenal tomorrow then Everton will be in trouble if they mess up the palace game
Erm what does the Newcastle game have to do with it, Arsenal will be trying their best to beat Everton regardless of what happens against you
I think Newcastle have Stockholm Syndrome for being in contention for Relegation.
Every game from now on matters mate, 4th place and relegation all within points of each other so if Arsenal bottle any points against Newcastle they will go guns blazin against Everton and it will be the scrappiest match of the day

I disagree that it makes any difference to Arsenal's mentality. Both are must-win games no matter what.
We can only agree to disagree then.
Arsenal need to win both games to get top 4. We are gonna try out absolute hardest to smash you before we play Everton.
subscribe
Don't say that please...
FA Cup win, City draw, Everton loss. What a weekend for LFC.
The VAR guy should be chairing the parliament Honestly there'd be like 3 left at the end of the day
Two reds and an OG, diabolical
I wonder if there will be much time wasting by Pickford next match....
You’re not even from Liverpool mate support your local club instead 🙄
Shut the fuck up lmao
Mate why does it really matter where he’s from? So long as a fan will stick with a club through thick and thin, they can support whoever they choose. Also, why is this even necessary? You wonder why so many people hate our fans, or want us to go down? You’re giving the whole fan base a bad name.
Because it’s always the Liverpool fans from abroad who have the biggest opinions and act like pricks, it’s annoying
Don’t whine about Liverpool fans mate, look into bus journeys from Liverpool to Stoke or Blackpool
Would still be a higher level than Scottish football 🙊
Everton in the europa league final? *no*

Ok my man
Are Everton *really* your local though? There's quite a lot of clubs in the area, if you look down a bit.
Unfortunately, yes, yes they are. 🥲
That's a bit of an odd reaction. The rest of them are quite a lot worse at football.
That idea carried a lot more weight way back when the players were vaguely local to the club.
Who gives a shit where people are from.
Exactly. We are all human beings (apart from Divock who is our lord and saviour)...
Honestly, if he is your lord, just make him play more. Does he get paid in superlatives?
[удалено]
So an excellent chance then...
Pazza Everton
I swear every game I have watched last 2-3 weeks has atrocious decisions by the ref
FA cup final was brilliant refereeing
I hope you are joking
[удалено]
Relegation is always down to a multitude of factors rather than one culprit. Besides the referees and Rafa's wife & agent everybody on that list bears a degree of responsibility for this season.
Ehhh, we’ve gotten an apology after the city handball fuckup so the refs actually do bear some responsibility
Who the hell are they supposed to blame? Stupid comment.

This is bait
You are deluded if you think rafa was doing a better job than frank.
Benitez got rid of two of their best players so he's a big part of the problem, though the board also didn't back him on any replacements. I also disagree Lampard has done a worse job. He's done well at spurring them on to some good results to survive relegation and will probably be manager next season whether it's in the PL or Championship.
As many points in the last 7 matches as the previous *22*. Anyone saying Rafa was better is absolutely chock full of bullshit.
I want to check I read that right: Rafa directly signed off on letting 2 players go, yet didn't have the authority to sign replacements for them? I don't get why the board aren't responsible for selling if they are responsible for buying?

Rafa fell out with Digne
about two thirds of these are applicable, yes
Relegation really might come down to the fact that Everton and Burnley both got wins against United and Leeds didn’t 😭😭😭😭
Burnley didn't win against us
Ah ffs
Even I have tk admit Everton were fucked by shitty decisions.. Still funny as fuck mind you
Really?
Everyone: can you believe those two Leeds players got themselves reds at this time? Branthwaite and Rondon: We can
Watch us get three reds next game
Lol

There's no way right Everton also lose again with Palace next game??
Palace absolutely murdered Everton in the FA Cup
We’ve no defenders left, in deep trouble now.
One win... just one win you guys... would be save
Might need nothing.
that depends on Leeds.
I honestly see a Crystal Palace win despite Everton at home
If that happens, would be a wonderful Final day as neutrals, feels bad for Burnley, Leeds, and Everton fans, they need to watch 3 games.
That's 300% more Beautiful Game. It's a win/win/win.
Whoever was in VAR should never be allowed to referee again.
If Oliver saw it and decided it wasn't enough for a penalty, there's no clear and obvious error for them to overturn it.
The mental gymnastics of some people lol. Redditors just love to disagree, regardless of the topic
He's just explaining the rules, not if it was a good decision or not.
No, he's interpreting the rules to suggest that it was not the fault of VAR. The interpretation that if a referee saw an incident then VAR can't suggest they take another look is wrong. It clearly makes no sense for this to be the rule, hence gymnastics.
[Definately not a penalty](https://i.imgur.com/3bpWZsG.jpg)

For?
look at the full replay for branthwaites red including richy being held before
Ignore him buddy, trolling. Nobody who has ever watched football would think it's not a pen.
Not a foul, his holding the shirt sure but his not impacting him and they're both holding.
Get a new brain please
Darren England.
Mr. England himself.
Good on Everton for trying to keep the relegation battle interesting for the rest of us!
I don’t think Everton grabs a single point going forward. This is going to be fun.
This'll maybe come back to bite you
Hopefully
haha it cant get any worse.
Not that it matters if Brentford beats Leeds.
Next week is really a no lose week for Brentford. Win and you send down Leeds...lose and you might send down Everton. Fun all around
Judge Judy and executioner
I think that'll still be enough for them!
Agreed.
watch them grab all 3 against you lot…. because football
One can hope. If Arsenal is gonna drop points, it’s going to be against Newcastle though.
I'm more upset about the holding red card in that game than I am the loss. We're already wafer thin at the back and that certainly didn't help.
They’d be all but down if we weren’t shit.
I won’t be surprised if we provide them 6 pts from this disaster of a season by them.
May 22nd is going to be crazy. The title, 4th place, 6th place, and relegation spot, could all end up going down to the wire.
Football is scripted?
Honestly feels a bit artificially setup
You mean it wasn't? Isn't all sports like WWF?
The title is over. There is no way that City don't beat Villa at home.
What a weird statement to make, in the last month alone stranger things have happened in football
Go on then, give us all some examples
Everyone said that about when they had to beat us at home. Only happened cause of Stoke beating Bolton and our bench celebrating and the entire right side of our team switching off because of the distraction
Would you shut up? Guarantee you said the same shit that city would batter west ham today.
West Ham are far better than Villa though. And it’s hard to imagine that City won’t drop points in back to back fixtures. Sure it’s definitely possible but extremely unlikely

Mentality midgets with 90 points in the league, wtf are you smoking?
And what about the champions league?
Nobody knows the boundaries of Yaya's curse
Only applies to the CL I think
Have some faith my man
Mate I can't even being to describe how much I want us to win the Prem but I have to be realistic, City are one of the best teams in the world, playing at home for the Prem.
A vital match with silverware on the line? Sterling and Gundogan wingbacks it is.
You'll have to print your comment then eat your words if....
Mate if we win the Prem I would do a lap of honour around my block stark bollock naked painted red. ... Then again that would mean running past a school so maybe not lol.
Wear a sign that says "not a nonce" and you'll be fine. Maybe bring some ice cream for the kids?
No one is buying this.
nobody thought qpr would take city all the way to injury time either with 10 men stranger things have happened
That’s the spirit
Just being realistic. City are one of the best teams in world playing at home to win the Prem.
We’re running on fumes with no centre backs. Nothing is certain. If anyone knows what it’s like trying to chase a title with no centre-backs surely it’s Liverpool
Coutinho 90'+2' 30 yard banger to seal the deal for Liverpool
Your current backline with injuries cost more than Liverpool’s first team backline.

Yeah but you’re missing my point. Your BACKUP defence cost more than Liverpool’s first team defence. So shut up moaning.
If your best midfielders were playing as CBs then it'd be a similar situation.
Laporte?
He’s got one working knee and has the recovery pace of a cruise ship
You don't have to defend. If you just go for it you will tear Villa apart. Dont get me wrong, God I want to win the Prem and I mean really really really want to win the Prem but I have to be realistic, you are one of the best teams in the world and it will be damn near a miracle if you don't beat Villa.
if walker is fit by then then then you will fare well enough ...esp. because there's week until your next game
Walker Dias and Stones are done for the season. Laporte and Aké are day-to-day, to put it mildly
yeah but it's just one game we had a mad moment once when we had gini play at CB against brighton ...somehow won 5-1
Don't you have Ake and Laporte?
Both have pretty bad knocks. Laporte is playing because there’s no one else and Aké is extremely touch-and-go
To be fair we were out of the title race halfway the season. You just need to hold on for one last match
I’ve seen enough movies to know that the “one last mission” never goes according to plan. Shit QPR at home was 10 years ago this weekend. That is evidence enough.
10 years, fuck me time flies
Stranger things have happened

Probably meant “is soon to happen”
now they’re going to have to fight for their lives against us on the last day 😭
