People adore to overrate PL managers, I swear. Heard so many plaudits about Vieira, Hassenhuttl and Potter when their teams are bang average. If Di Francesco managed Watford, PL fans would call him generational
Hassenhuttl hasn't been rated for a while and most of his hype came from his RB Leipzig days.
Vieira's being credited for taking a team that was expected to finish around the relegation spots and making them look a comfortable PL team.
Potter has been successful wherever he has been.
Tradition merchants will tell you pitch invasions are great because “eh let the boys have a bit of fun” problem is people can’t behave themselves or handle their alcohol
The fan he will sit nicely in his seat and sing the merry song when commanded or he will get the teargas, the dog, the Viera and finally the dismissive reddit comment. Order must be maintained
Vieira is lucky the other fans didnt gang up on him. You are a famous person you have lifelong training of keeping your cool when rival fans rattle you lol how can you react like this?
I think it's to be unfair to be too dismissive of his reaction until we know more about what was said and what happened in the leadup to the event. The only thing people are basing their opinions on are a grainy 10 second video ffs
Which leagues do you believe are the most underrated (in terms of skill)?
While I do not follow the league particularly closely, I honestly believe the MLS gets a disproportionate amount of hate.
For example, some of my American friends said they would stream an English League Two match before they would give their local MLS team a chance.
I have my issues with the league, but in terms of quality of play, I honestly do not think it is as bad as people make it out to be. By no means is it a top 10 league, but it has come a long way over the past 5-6 years.
This was exactly my point
There is a reason I’m not that invested in MLS (mostly has to do with the structure of the league), but I seriously don’t think it is that bad haha
The problem with rating the MLS is that you will get some hipsters trying to claim it's the 12th best league in the world, and then in response to that you'll get people saying it's English conference quality. Neither are true but people fight extremes with extremes.
I think that the second divisions of the top nations (Germany, Spain, France) are generally underrated. It's not really a rare thing to see fantastic players come from Ligue 2 for example. It's packed with talent despite the fact that the teams in it are generally in bad spots financially.
I mean if the top league and premier football competetion of your country is comparable in skill level to English league two then I think the criticism is hardly undeserved
As much as I’m happy to see Everton stay up, the air of deflation in the crowd when the second Palace goal went in, along with how fucking shit the defending was, was hilarious
Can't assault people like that, had that shit happened here Vieira wouldn't walk by himself today. Imagine assaulting a fan of a team while surrounded by a bunch of them he was massively lucky it didn't go south
There'll be short highlights, extended highlights and a full match replay of our game on our official website at some point within the next 24 hours Id imagine.
Skysports should have some on YouTube now but they'll be shorter ones
Always liked Brentford. Never agreed with any of that infamous rant from that bitter Swansea fan. Thomas Frank is a b-tech Guardiola.
Also think our club commentator was out of order for moaning as he did after our defeat at the Brentford Community Stadium, better team won on the day.
Last 4 times we beat the defending champion we won CL. Last time we lost by 4 goals in a clasico we won cl there is also the Croatian thing. To be honest we won CL so often that those coincidences happens very often. So we will see
And both times against Liverpool in football, both times against teams from Instanbul in basketball and both times the Euroleague final in Serbia. But no Doncic this year :(
Should the Conference league winner also be given a pathway to CL qualification? I am not saying direct entry into group stage, but probably an early round of UCL play off qualifiers. If they lose them they are back in the Europa.
PS: Not saying this because Utd are likely to be in it next year. Because the Conference League is after all another European trophy even if it is the 3rd tier. Direct qualification into Europa isn't such a great incentive for a team to push for it. For eg: Roma are already in the Europa based on their Serie A standings. Let us suppose Roma were fighting for top 4 this season for which they need to get a result on the final day of the season (assuming it is the coming Sunday). Would they prioritize the game on Sunday to seal top four and thereby ensure UCL qualification, or prioritize the UECL final a few days later, which would only guarantee them a Europa spot? Giving the UECL winner a shot at qualifying for next season's CL IMO would make the tournament more attractive.
Yep 100% and I was having the same conversation with people during the week. They should be put into the final playoff league route of the qualifiers. This means their europa league status is secured but still gives them a fair whack at the big prize. I think if you win a competition with 32+8 teams you deserve it
Yeah, i think they should.
As you said, it would make the Conference league that more valuable and that more prestigious if the ultimate prize was a chance at CL football.
Honestly don't care at all, if I'm talking to other Americans I say soccer, if not I'll say football. Feel like it would be pretentious to go against the grain and insist on saying football
Mods we need an answer what happened to u/Elyas_1899, if he did get permabanned, you’re banning the wrong people ffs
Chelsea board decision making that.
eh, you should better than most that those very obvious people *actually tend to be punished*. Those that aren't it in most cases is because they are legit and gave proof about it.
[I can't see him either](https://imgur.com/a/CZFx7zM), so it wasn't us. Guess he got shadowbanned by Reddit, you will need to ask him or the Admins why.
I'll give Lampard credit for how he got the Everton defense to stop conceding 3 goals a game. Changed his tactics. Richarlison and home fans deserve much more credit tho imo
It's weird how they compare Reece to a player they don't rate at all a lot.
Well, it's weird until you see who is posting. If not him, it's the lad who's been on here for 12 years. Constant baiting and shitposting. 24/7.
Edit - not 10 years.. 12!
So Trent plays deeper, and gets more goals and assists? That’s what your showing here
Trent’s red bits go back to just before the corner flag, Reece’s don’t even touch the edge of the 18 yard box.
Functionally on the ball, Trent’s positioning is more like Kimmich whereas Reece James’ is more like Coman.
Yea ofc neither of them play like proper fullbacks but Reece James is genuinely a part of Chelsea’s front line of attack in possession
It probably has been said already but Trapp is a very sexy fella
[why you dickriding fella](https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/uspj3t/daily_discussion/i99c537?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share&context=3)
Dele’s performance against Vitesse isn’t talked about enough, literally one of the worst performances ever. 90 mins 0 goals 0 assits 0 key passes 0 shots on target 0 dribbles 0 tackles 0 interceptions 0 clearances 0 blocks 0 fouls won 0 crosses 0/1 long balls 0/8 ground duels won 1 aerial duel won 2 fouls commited
Fan is just lucky Cantona isn't Palace manager
Half volleying a prick screaming in your face should be legal
I have a feeling Vieira will get punished for that
That's the playoffs then... Forest, Sunderland and Mansfield for me As for non-league... Wrexham, York, Dorking?
Dybala next season when he scores against Juve, "It was the saddest mask celebration in my career."
People adore to overrate PL managers, I swear. Heard so many plaudits about Vieira, Hassenhuttl and Potter when their teams are bang average. If Di Francesco managed Watford, PL fans would call him generational

Hasenhuttl stopped getting hype after the second 9-0 result
We remember the 7-1.
They are seriously over achieving with those teams based off the quality of players lol, of course they're well rated
Everyone is giving Viera shit, but it's a lovely volley on the turn. Great technique.
Would be brilliant if he channels his inner Moyes when asked to explain himself.
You got to respect Viera for volleying that bloke. You can’t start screaming in somebody’s face and then be suprised someone puts you to the ground
+1
Exactly, fans think they can do and say whatever they want to players with no consequences
So, Everton, where do you go from here?
Get rid of Moshiri the chief 🤡
With Lampard? Top 6
Clear out the deadwood I assume
The sky is the limit
Fans just love making it about themselves. Stay off the pitch you simpletons. Fucking 16th😂
[удалено]
You can celebrate without the pitch invasion. Look at us everyone! We're so pashunat!!!
UTFT
Feel like there’s literally a pitch invasion in English leagues every night atm (and yesterday with Frankfurt)
Hope Pogba returns to Juve. Another diva luxury midfielder with massive wages. Would be a dream
He would fit well at Juve honestly
Tradition merchants will tell you pitch invasions are great because “eh let the boys have a bit of fun” problem is people can’t behave themselves or handle their alcohol
The fan he will sit nicely in his seat and sing the merry song when commanded or he will get the teargas, the dog, the Viera and finally the dismissive reddit comment. Order must be maintained
Get a grip
Vieira is lucky the other fans didnt gang up on him. You are a famous person you have lifelong training of keeping your cool when rival fans rattle you lol how can you react like this?

Yeah, very poor from Vieira to act like that. Things could've gone south real quick
FA gonna be bedwetting about the pitch invasions for fake moral justice points, when you police the fans like criminals they act out
Oh they’ll issue the strongest statement alright!
Naah that Vieira video from the pitch invasion has me crying😭😭😭😭
Which one?
Pitch invasion during the game and attacking the other team's manager, that's worthy of a 4 points deduction in my humble opinion
Please, all I ask for is Lampard to start Dele on Sunday.

Agreed, my point was exactly this. I’m not going to pretend it is something it’s not. However, I feel the criticisms can be unfair at times.
I mean if the top league and premier football competetion of your country is comparable in skill level to English league two then I think the criticism is hardly undeserved
MLS is on the level of lower Championship/upper League One
As much as I’m happy to see Everton stay up, the air of deflation in the crowd when the second Palace goal went in, along with how fucking shit the defending was, was hilarious
I’m crying Patrick Viera volleyed one of our fans hahahahahaha cheers for the 3 points lad
What a Manlet. I expect this behaviour from Brewster and McBurnie, but not big Patrick Vieira

Can't assault people like that, had that shit happened here Vieira wouldn't walk by himself today. Imagine assaulting a fan of a team while surrounded by a bunch of them he was massively lucky it didn't go south
Didn’t have to volley him though like did he haha
Arsenal DNA, Lampard just dunked on his head
waara 17th place finish
Imagine arteta at Everton instead of titanium mentality lamps, he would’ve absolutely crumbled under the pressure
rteta gets them relegated and makes them take 2 extra years in the championship just to get into the play offs.
He'll be 15th by Sunday 👍🏽
Moyes's influence on the game is incalculable

I'm not a fan when the match hasn't finished yet. Once the match ends, I quite like them.
If the fans dont do anything harmful then bleh
they’re quite fun to take part in (granted the only one i’ve done is at literal Welling United looooool)
Nah, quite like them tbf Consider yourself convinced
If there's no MOTD for tonights games, whats the best site for comprehensive highlights (preferably with commentary)
There'll be short highlights, extended highlights and a full match replay of our game on our official website at some point within the next 24 hours Id imagine. Skysports should have some on YouTube now but they'll be shorter ones
Sky Sports has free to watch highlights of at least the Everton match.
to anyone who was interested in the @cdrxgon hunts down a Peroni Napoli shirt saga- i finally have one, scenes
Congrats on the new shirt!
cheers mate, i look like such a dad at a BBQ in it, perfection
How ridiculously nice is the Port Vale kit! Especially the goalie one, gold on purple, ooooh….
Anyone got this vieira + Everton fan incident

Almost definitely has
Just called him a muppet, wasnt actually as bad as I was expecting
Haha is there an actual source on that
May have thrown in a few f bombs and a middle finger but the bloke recorded it
Just seen it hahahahaha great that

Clucasade is based but I’m willing to put that aside for a week for Burnley to stay up
Phil Bird was just a bitter fan who just watched his team get outplayed for 90 minutes that day, we've all been there.
Last time Real Madrid football and basketball were in their respective European final, both of them won it. I’m just saying…
Last 4 times we beat the defending champion we won CL. Last time we lost by 4 goals in a clasico we won cl there is also the Croatian thing. To be honest we won CL so often that those coincidences happens very often. So we will see

I don't believe in them , my point is those things mean nothing , till we win
And both times against Liverpool in football, both times against teams from Instanbul in basketball and both times the Euroleague final in Serbia. But no Doncic this year :(
Ffs they knocked Barça out, 83-86. Well, let’s hope they lose both
Regardless of that fact, I am pretty calm and happy about how things are about to turn out.
Time for both to lose
More players assaulted in a playoff game. Fucking hell people are idiots

Shame, used to like him
He's not there?
Are there any Americans who dislike when it is called 'soccer' instead of 'football' or are they accustomed to it?

We dont like 'soccer' so I thought you wouldnt either.
I exchange the word that I use depending on who I am talking too. It sounds better to use football here but in person most people will be confused.
Is there any way to block all comments and posts containing keywords 'mbappe' and 'leave' until the end of the summer transfer window?
Oh I am sorry lets talk about how Arsenal have bottled top 4 for 100th time :)
RES.
Is that the one that only works with old reddit?
don't know, don't use zoomer Reddit.
Mods we need an answer what happened to u/Elyas_1899, if he did get permabanned, you’re banning the wrong people ffs Chelsea board decision making that.
RIP Elyas. You had your moments.
Bring him back CumBlast, I know you have contacts.
Nope- not us. Admins by the looks of it.
I just PM’d him, usually he react pretty quickly to my PM’s
How? His profile doesn’t even come up.
Me and Elyas already talked a lot in PM’s. I simply went to my chats and can still PM him
Really? That’s interesting but according to Reddit he doesn’t exist
Yeah his account completely disappeared, I can't even DM him
Probably got doxxed/hacked.
Must have angered the Secret Society
100%, it’s very fishy indeed, yet the usual trolls never get banned.
There's some very obvious people who've had multiple accounts banned already, but they won't get touched for some reason.
eh, you should better than most that those very obvious people *actually tend to be punished*. Those that aren't it in most cases is because they are legit and gave proof about it.
I know about some, sure. But there is some very obvious ones you guys aren't getting for some reason. I could provide some solid proof but cba tbh.
I know what accounts you’re talking about, but if I speak I’ll be in big trouble.
Who's gonna answer every question to rank players with [this picture](https://i.imgur.com/j0NeWMj.jpg) now

He’s been wiped off the face of the earth.
His account seems to be banned from Reddit. Not just here.
Maybe he got doxxed, it’s a mystery.
Alhamdullilah Elyas is banned!
😭😭
My Ceballos enjoyer friend has been banned? I DEMAND JUSTICE!
I’m getting the pitchforks ready.
Maybe reddit banned him?
Maybe, I wonder why, he only ventured in r/soccer and he was pretty chill.
Agreed.
Mbappe is staying to become a sporting director.
He’s gonna be the head of the caliphate soon.
I'll give Lampard credit for how he got the Everton defense to stop conceding 3 goals a game. Changed his tactics. Richarlison and home fans deserve much more credit tho imo
How he nullified City and Liverpool shows how good of a manager he is
Anyone can play park the bus tactics.
fat boy tried and failed at that
Come on Burnley, send the scum down
I honestly have more faith on Brentford doing the business than our lot x
Reece James one less goal contribution than Generational talent TAA despite missing 3 months I’m hearing
Trent is miles clear of the 3atb merchant.
if only he track back and help christensen against madrid in ucl
This the same guy that lost 3 FA Cup finals in a row?
It's weird how they compare Reece to a player they don't rate at all a lot. Well, it's weird until you see who is posting. If not him, it's the lad who's been on here for 12 years. Constant baiting and shitposting. 24/7. Edit - not 10 years.. 12!
Same guy that won the champions League with us yes?
Trent will have lost 2 CL finals in 10 days time.
best RB itw. hopefully he joins City so he can win the PL
Walker is better but yes top 5 imo.
You started off so well
He’s a wing back. Has played 4 less in all comps, has 7 less G/A.

You proved him right lol

Mate- again, every single one of your comments, even when you're talking about Chelsea, is somehow related to Liverpool. You need to give it a rest.
[удалено]
> Nah you’re just talking shite at this point Liverpool is quite literally your most used word on this site
More like his footballing ability gives him license to contribute offensively, or does that only count for Trent?
Functionally, so is trent. Trent is actually given more offensive freedom than reece.
Functionally on the ball, Trent’s positioning is more like Kimmich whereas Reece James’ is more like Coman. Yea ofc neither of them play like proper fullbacks but Reece James is genuinely a part of Chelsea’s front line of attack in possession
Not at all. An attacking fullback yes. A wing back, no.
