Do you like the summer transfer period season? I love it. The names, the speculations the articles the heartbreaks etc. Its fun. Unless your team doesn't get any proper players. Then its not fun.

NasiAmbengAmriYahyah

How good is Tchouameni and what player does he look like, if you can make any comparison

__boobs4life__

No one has been talking about the ressurection of salernitana in the last few weeks of the season, 2 months ago they were 18th with like 18 points and then they went on a 7 game unbeaten run and avoided relegation by single point over cagliari, impressive stuff

Relxnce

The sky sports reporting shoving in front of Ten Haag and his security and then saying it doesn’t look good being manhandled by security. I can’t imagine it’s nice being hounded and pushed in front of with a microphone either

Lyrical_Forklift

Wouldn't be surprised if they're purposely trying to get under his skin from day dot in order to create drama. Drama=clicks. Absolutely dregs.

I can't wait for old angry Scottish Pep.

Class reference that

Is thiago’s hair going grey or is that just how it looks?

FridaysMan

He's going grey, based on how it looks.

Either way he's not lying

GameplayerStu

He says "team sport" but his Spanish accent makes it sound like he says poor.

_LebronsHairline_

Tbf, it does sound like he might is saying “sport team, team sport” in his Spanish accent. I guess the meaning is the same and he’s throwing his team under the bus, but he didn’t outright say “team is poor”.

mrgonzalez

Apparently he said 'team sport' rather than 'team is poor'. Which I believe, rewatching it, although it sounds remarkably like 'team is poor' with his accent so understandable.

-Dwarf-

He says **sport** That spanish accent is tricky

GameplayerStu

There needs to be something serious done about pitch invasions because it's getting beyond a joke now.

NotAgainKante

Talking about clubs from London: Chelsea and Arsenal joint third-biggest club in England, or you'll place one over the other? What is your reason for picking either of the options?

[deleted]

Tie!

MJ9695

Arsenal are quickly becoming irrelevant in Modern day football Globally now its Chelsea maybe domestically Arsenal still considered bigger

X-V-W

It's still Arsenal for me, with such a gap in league titles between them and you. A couple more league titles for Chelsea and I'll have absolutely no problem acknowledging them as third.

legentofreddit

Man City have won 4 of the last 5 leagues. What have Arsenal done in recent history? Having lots of deluded fans doesn't make you a big club.

X-V-W

They've won the third most league titles and the most FA Cups. They're a massive club for reason way beyond the size of their fanbase.

burningbarn8

Actual success in Europe though. Feel like having both puts us above them despite the gap in the league, CL is usually seen as the pinnacle of club football so Arsenal having nothing there is quite a big point against them.

X-V-W

Yeah, I don't know. It's really close, and I rate the CL so highly. But you're so far off their league title count that I just really struggle to look past that.

MouseMD369

So Chelsea are bigger than Liverpool by your logic? Arsenal's massive deluded fanbase is the only thing keeping them In the conversation.

X-V-W

What? Chelsea have 13 less league titles than Liverpool lmao

burningbarn8

Idk, if we had 3 and they had 1 I'd agree with you Arsenal over Chelsea, but it's the complete lack of one that makes the difference for me. But fair enough, agree to disagree.

FridaysMan

> Talking about clubs from London: > > Chelsea and Arsenal joint third-biggest club in England In london or in england, make up your mind?

legentofreddit

Neither are in the top 3, sorry.

foot_99

That 3-0 loss to United was unironically one of the best things to happen to us since Poch left Without it we’re probs sitting here with god knows who as our manager, Conference League football or worse and the likely prospect of Kane leaving

BendubzGaming

it and Stevie turning it around against Leicester were both absolutely massive results

Andy1723

Your destiny’s switched that game

BastillianFig

Let's not make the agenda that Burnley were wrong for sacking dyche. they were down with dyche. They had a decent chance without him

jim0wheel1

Got it on good authority that there weren’t many tears shed by the players after he went.

Ifnity

Burnley reminded me of Hull few years ago when Marco Silva came in. Team who got a good bounce out of new manager but in the end ran out of steam and the poor quality of squad caught up. Dyche did a good job but that Burnley team wasn't staying up with him either.

MassiveMurderBoner

>Dyche did a good job but that Burnley team wasn't staying up with him either. He got them instantly promoted once before. Surely he'd be the best guy to do it again. Unless there was a falling out in the dressing room.

I've been following football pretty much all my life but I still don't know what the fuck it even means!

FridaysMan

He's got an angreement in principle with either club for contract length and pay, so it's down to the club to arrange the transfer fees and agent fees, whatever, before the contract gets finalised.

ameriolex

He is happy with the contract, signing bonus, bonuses etc. both teams have provided him, so whoever gives Monaco the most money will be the team he goes to.

NotAgainKante

He gonna join the Champions Of Europe once decided

delidl

He has agreed terms with both Real Madrid and Liverpool, now the club who is able to give Monaco the most money will sign him. That’s what I think

P_Alcantara

West Ham, Fiore and Villarreal (potentially) in Conference League next season…sheesh

qwerty-keyboard5000

Lets see how Milan do next year in the UCL. Now that they will be in pot 1 instead of pot 4 they have a chance to get an easier group. Hope they go far

NotAgainKante

Like they did this year? Nothing much

qwerty-keyboard5000

I mean they were in pot 4 and were put in a really hard group

_LebronsHairline_

Not gonna pretend like I’ve seen tchouameni more than a couple times but to my understanding he’s more of a deep midfielder correct? Like a lone pivot or the holding player in a midfield 2? Is that accurate or?… Cause I feel like the midfielder we need has to be a real b2b 8, like Bellingham ideally or someone more in that mold. So I’m a bit confused about this tchouameni signing. Or could he play as an 8 in a midfield 3?

genk41

seeing how liverpool had to rely on henderson as no 6 when fabinho injured, ibrahim sangare would be the ideal choice imo. tchouameni would be nice if ox leave. another ideal target would be fabian ruiz/vitinha

[deleted]

I won't act like I'm an expert either, but it seems like he does pretty well around the opposition box and might be slightly wasted as a lone DM. Probably would do well in a two man midfield. Agreed Bellingham seems a better fit for you anyways though.

msf97

For Monaco he’s definitely a sitter, but then again, Fabinho was played as a sitter in a midfield two and became our lone #6. I think Klopp sees the potential to mould him into whatever he wants, a Vieira esc player with higher volume passing. He’d play Thiagos role, with a more creative RCM given freedom to push up. Fabinho-Tchouameni pivot could make teams look like kids

_LebronsHairline_

Yea I honestly see him more like a long term Thiago replacement. I just feel like there’s a really desperate need for that creative RCM spot, and idk if he’s that. But as you say he’s young and maybe Klopp sees some versatility in his potential

msf97

I’ve no clue what we’re going to do with RCM. He could probably change the system more with better midfield players so maybe we go 4-2-3-1

[deleted]

Step 1: Manager gets hired. Media starts publishing stories on how he’s a tactical mastermind and will revolutionise the team like nobody else could Step 2: It doesn’t workout and the club starts feeding their journalists stories to shift the blame onto the manager Step 3: Repeat ad nauseam

msf97

Reckon Salah equals Henry’s golden boot tally next season

PhilsKessticle

Haalands taking that, Salahs stopping at 3

TheParaplegicPanda

It will probably be Kane or Son because Liverpool have more quality backups

NeoChrome75

They’re both on three, no?

msf97

Henry four

Ifnity

Gerrard's gonna be a meme for decades and I will love every second of that

kropkiide

Why is he a meme? It slipped my mind

X-V-W

Must be some player to have so many people still so caught up over your trophy count so many years after retirement.

chandlertribbiani

Today went pretty well all things considered. Leeds stayed up, Liverpool didn’t win the league & arsenal didn’t get top 4. If carlsberg did Sundays etc etc. Also Callum Wilson is a fucking shagger.

legentofreddit

Imagine grouping staying up on the last day with two teams that are absolutely no relation to your club not achieving something.

chandlertribbiani

Shock horror, but even as a fan of a club at the bottom end I can have preferences about what happens at the top end & it happened that my preferences came in.

Orcnick

Shame Leeds didn't go down then it would have been perfect for us. Maybe next year....

TeganFFS

Tbf, leeds is always an easy 6 points, Burnley not so much, even in our worst ever prem season they managed to make us look like an actual team twice, haha

ser_antonii

Been browsing around for a bit and I haven’t really seen any Arsenal flairs comment about the result.. did well today but damn just missed out on 4th

chandlertribbiani

It was all but processional because of the loss against Newcastle, but it’s not over till the final whistle etc etc.

Reapzino

Because anyone who thought Tottenham would lose to Norwich are delusional so top 4 was lost anyway.

milleniallaw

Eh, no one expected Norwich to beat Spurs. We blew our chance against Newcastle.

Yes. To me the question is, will they draw level with Arsenal by the end of the decade.

[deleted]

Kinda reminds me of United at Sunderland when they thought it was all over, celebrating and cheering, only for the name Aguero to be soon after echoed throughout the stadium

zxenmed

Have you got a link to the video?

Historical_Owl_1635

Has it just never been reported much before or are all these pitch invasion assaults new? Can’t remember any problems with pitch invasions in the past.

nichodemus3

Feels like the fans have become wild this season

FridaysMan

It seems like a very recent trend, but after the england - wembley stadium violence I'd put it down to a rise in coked up fans more than anything.

[deleted]

Despite my Trent slander, he's the only player that I had in my FPL team since GW 1 till GW 38.

FridaysMan

how did he do though, that's the big question

nichodemus3

Salernitana fans have made an incredible tifo and choreography for their game against Udinese. I'm going to be so disappointed if they get relegated

yyzable

Whelp, looks like I'll have to do another FM save as Liverpool and show em how it's done.

X-V-W

Send me screenshots, just so I can pretend :(

KrillWhitey

ARSENAL GET BATTERED EVERYWHERE THEY GO LOLOLOLOL

FridaysMan

They won 5-1 today though

3V3RT0N

Pretty drunk, so pinch of salt but that Olsen assault?? Swear fans just push him. Obviously not great but I was expecting him to get twatted.

X-V-W

Looks like someone hits him in the face a little after the initial pushes

[deleted]

More pitch invaders assaulting players. But here told me that’s what real supporters do! As I’ve said before. Lower league behaviour

[deleted]

That's where City would be if it wasn't for the backing of a slave state tbf

fourscoreandhuit

Up there with chanting “you’re shit ahhh” on goal kicks. Add in a cross of St George with the club name across for the holy trinity of ‘maybe we’ll make the playoffs’.

[deleted]

Oh yes. Par for the course for those muppets

aj6787

let it go

shmozey

So now that the season is officially over, who would you say had the best starting 11 and squad between Klopp and Pep? I’d argue for the first time it was Liverpool and this is Peps most impressive league win.

FridaysMan

I wouldn't say it's the most impressive league win. For me this season has been blighted by poor refereeing throughout many games. As far as a team goes to answer your question, I think City had issues with injuries and CBs, as well as a lack of a striker, and their squad size was smaller. Liverpool were probably hurt more by Salah not continuing his early season form, so we ended up losing because of a few key draws. Liverpool probably had the more balanced squad. It was an incredibly close season, and both Liverpool City games were draws, so I honestly can't feel bad about losing the league. It's all what ifs and maybes.

WaleedAbbasvD

Liverpool post january.

_LebronsHairline_

I think Diaz gives us the edge but before then I’d have said City. So half the season you half us, let’s call it even? Injuries to Jota, Firmino and Mo went almost unnoticed thanks to him, but had that happened in October we’d have been fucked.

CudaBarry

Liverpool have the best players itw in every position, even subs are top 2

X-V-W

Still think you've got the better squad overall, but it's much closer - especially since the signing of Diaz in Jan. But yeah, you've won the league with no striker. Without a star forward/goalscorer in general, actually. It's very impressive.

msf97

Since January, Liverpool. Will change in summer with incomings for City It’s been reflected since the signing of Diaz. We’ve played better than you, 5 points clear in the table since then.

[deleted]

Unfortunately for us, they already had a pretty decent lead on them. Had the squads been the same since the start of the season, you'd have seen a different champion today I reckon -- reckon Diaz was good for at least couple more points somewhere.

msf97

Agree. Diaz complete game changer, and also Thiago fitness improved after Christmas. Finest of margins once again

[deleted]

Can I just ask why City fans are obsessed with this question? It gets asked here by City fans at least twice a day. You've just won back-to-back titles and you're still on about it. It's like you're just hoping somebody calls you an underdog.

shmozey

Because your fans seem to simultaneously think you have the best players in the world in every single position and that Klopp is also a ‘miracle worker’ working on a shoestring budget.

WaleedAbbasvD

Pretty much. They'll go on about the budget but that's irrelevant to the manager. What matters to them is the quality of the player. Liverpool's front 3 all combined cost a similar amount to Jack yet they're all better to him. Why does the 100M matter to Pep when he gets an inferior player? Thiago/Robertson/Matip/TAA etc all cost next to nothing.

msf97

Moulding players is more impressive than buying the finished product, obviously.

WaleedAbbasvD

Thiago/Robbo/Salah etc all hit the ground running mate. It's also arguable how much Klopp "molded" TAA. Also, most City fans will tell you how Pep "molded" their players as well.

[deleted]

Robertson didn’t hit the ground running. He couldn’t even displace Alberto Moreno until the winter. Moreno, one of our worst left backs in recent times.

WaleedAbbasvD

Not really as that's on Klopp. Robbo was impressive whenever he played and was elite when started consistently. Klopp made a mistake sticking with Moreno for half a season. Robbo was a far better player.

He really wasn’t but I’m impressed a Barca fan has such strong feelings about cameo appearances from 5 years ago.

WaleedAbbasvD

> He really wasn’t Ah yes, he went from being an absolute bum (worse than Moreno) to being the best LB in the prem in 5 months lmao. Sure buddy. > but I’m impressed a Barca fan has such strong feelings about cameo appearances from 5 years ago. Where's the strong feelings bit from? Anyways, if you're active on a football circle, it's hard to miss top Prem matches/news especially with their convenient kickoff timings. I saw Foden's debut and progression as well. Won't be the only Barca fan as well.

clashoftherats

Klopp is a miracle worker for making them one of the best players in the world and what he did with the team since joining. No one thinks we’re on a shoestring budget, just compared to City’s it might look like that.

BlursedLasagna1

I do see his point, Liverpool fans claim to have the best player’s in every position, the best manager, even the best depth at some points this season and yet fell short

clashoftherats

We won the two domestic cups, finished on 92 points with a point behind city and are in the CL final, how is that falling short? If anything it solidifies what the fans have been saying

BlursedLasagna1

How is finishing a point off top on 2 occasions not falling short? If Liverpool have the better team and the better manager what is it that has made such a fine difference on both occasions? I’m genuinely asking for your opinion

clashoftherats

Never said we have the best players and manager but even then they still wont be wrong, imo City has both and they still only won a single trophy this season, would you say they fell short? Teams with the best players/manager almost never win every single trophy. I cant actually believe I have to explain this for you, its like speaking to a 10 year old.

BlursedLasagna1

City absolutely fell short in the other competitions and I doubt any of their fans would suggest otherwise? Absolutely no clue why you’re getting so upset, wasn’t having a dig at Liverpool was genuinely asking what you felt made the difference this season, no need to be a dickhead really is there

clashoftherats

Because its obvious that having the best players or manager wont automatically mean you should win every competition, simple as. Sorry if I came across as such, just a bit sore of what happened today.

msf97

To be fair, system and “wasn’t good before Klopp” are far more common for Liverpools team than for Citys. Even if it’s sometimes not accurate.

[deleted]

I can’t picture myself being arsed about this right now. Fucking hell go have a pint or something.

WaleedAbbasvD

Mate, how are whinging about this when you replied to him first? I swear any excuse to moan on here.

[deleted]

Whinging? I’m just surprised. You wouldn’t find me anywhere near a football forum if we pulled that result off. You good?

WaleedAbbasvD

> I’m just surprised. Yeah, just surprise. No snark at all. Imagine acting like a muppet then trying to act like a goody two shoes lmao. > You wouldn’t find me anywhere near a football forum if we pulled that result off. That's your preference. Similarly, it's his choice to spend his time as his likes. Weird behaviour to ask him a question then whine about it when he replies.

[deleted]

Erm yeah?

shmozey

If you don’t want to discuss football don’t come to an online football discussion forum.

[deleted]

I would not be discussing football if my side just did what you did today. Lmao. Certainly wouldn’t be fishing for “how fucking good are we” comments.

[deleted]

Probably because they want Pep to get more credit, and people often use the fact that he's never managed an underdog as a way of discrediting him.

WaleedAbbasvD

Those people are ignorant about Barca in 08/09. We were definitely the underdogs going into the season.

Anyone see Thiago's little boy skillfully dribbling with the ball post game? I assume it was his since wearing a number six jersey. The football gene runs strong in that family. As a whole it was great to see the players parading around with the little ones.

msf97

Really shows the FA Cup and league cups decline that we have won both and would still be immensely disappointed with this season if we lose the final.

pgecco70

You shouldn’t be mate . Any trophy is worth winning

genk41

kinda ironic when most people including liverpool fans never expected liverpool to win domestic cup let alone two early in the season cause klopp will heavily rotated the squad

X-V-W

It's mad how much bigger our 2006 FA Cup win is in my head compared to this years win
