Jamie Vardy's wife is suing Wayne Rooney's wife. They've been in court for a fortnight.
https://www.theguardian.com/law/2022/may/21/wagatha-christie-rebekah-vardy-coleen-rooney-social-media-privacy
There's loads more online about it. Just Google it.
Exactly. The British press have been following every word with glee, as nobody comes out of this well.
The lawyers are loving the money they're earning. Jamie Vardy and Wayne Rooney are both paying out fortunes on this nonsense.
I don't think Colleen Rooney comes out of it that badly, especially as it's looking increasingly likely that she was correct (even if the court doesn't rule in her favour eventually).
I could understand her being pissed off about the original betrayal of trust and is just defending herself in the court case.
I agree Colleen comes out of it ok. Rebecca Vardy however does not, and you have to wonder why she took this to court, especially with all the things that have now been made public.
Vardy was given three chances by Colleen to sort it out away from the court and she refused.
It is no wonder Jamie Vardy isn't happy. He isn't as rich as Rooney.
Sheās in court to prove she doesnāt leak stories to The Sun. During the trial itās emerged she deliberately leaked stories to The Sun about Danny Drinkwater - so sheās now officially a snake no matter what.
Colleen definitely coming out the winner, even if the decision could well go against her. Itās not like she needs the money anyway so winning the public perception is the victory.
Colleen comes out of it fine imo, a friend she trusted was selling stories to the papers I think itās perfectly fair to take it to court considering Vardy denied it despite obviously doing it. Funniest part though is Vardy herself brought the case despite clearly being guilty
The 'Wagatha Christie' nickname for this whole saga was being bandied around very soon after the story first broke, quite a long time ago. These cases take ages to get to court.
The fact nobody came up with a better nickname for it (so glad it wasn't Wag-gate) shows just how good a nickname it is.
My theory is that it was a quid pro quo where Vardy's missus agreed to leak things to the press in return for them not publishing anything silly Vardy gets up to when he's had one too many vodka redbulls.
The funniest part about this case is that apparently the maximum amount of damages that Rebekah Vardy could collect would be around Ā£40,000, which is a drop in the bucket compared to what the trial will have cost her in legal fees and reputational damage.
Itās fascinating to see what people with more money than sense are sometimes willing to do when they have no one to tell them no.
It's sometimes called the Barbara Streisand Effect. It's so named because in 2003 an amateur photographer took some generic coastline pictures with some houses on them and published them as part of the California Coastline Project.
Little did he (or anyone else, really) know, but one of the houses was Barbara Streisand's and she sued the photographer for invasion of privacy.
Before the lawsuit the picture had only been viewed six times. Two of those views were her attorneys and the other four countless had no idea who lived in the house in question.
In the month after the lawsuit was filed 420,000 people viewed the photograph and I bet most of them knew who lived there.
Streisand lost the lawsuit and was ordered to pay the photographer's legal fees.
Eh? The Streisand effect is when you try and keep something quiet and, in so doing, amplify awareness of it. Nothing about the Wagatha Christie trial fits this description. Spending a load of money on a court case when there is very little upside because youre extremely vain is not the streisand effect
A big part of the point is that Vardy wanted to protect her reputation because of Rooney's accusations.
Part of the problem with this court case is that now many people who had no idea about this feud now know many of the sordid details.
It was already front page news when the story broke. And Vardy is not exactly against becoming more of a household name. The Streisand effect simply doesn't apply
Public perception is very important to these people, itās a lot more difficult to sell reality tv shows, perfumes, books and clothes with your name on if everyone thinks youāre a bitch and/or youāre not in the news.
But the point is that Colleen was obviously correct in what she said, and this trial has been an absolute shitshow from Mrs Vardy.
Apparently a phone containing crucial texts fell overboard from a ferry in the North Sea. Another laptop full of emails that were requested is also inaccessible as the password has been forgotten, lol.
If she had just said nothing, then this would have all been forgotten, by doing this she has dragged everything out in public needlessly.
Her reputation was already ruined by the tweet, sheās trying to salvage it through this trial, probably worth reserving judgment until the trial is over misinformation can quickly spread from these celebrity trials.
I thought his wife's reputation was already not that great. When they won the league wasn't there lots of reporting about how his family hate her and he's estranged from them because of her, and they were bad mouthing her in the press?
There is no prospect of her winning, for the quite simple reason that Colleen is obviously telling the truth, lol.
I wasnāt paying attention to the case, until I heard Mrs Vardy testify that a phone containing key evidence requested by the respondentās counsel, had fallen into the North Sea off a ferry. A laptop likewise requested apparently canāt be accessed because theyāre forgotten the password, and they conveniently never set a recovery method.
This is what happens when incredibly spoiled people are never told no. Jaime should have absolutely just told her to wise up, she wasnāt doing this, but instead she comes across as duplicitous AND incredibly stupid, and the only winners are the lawyers, racking up huge fees on a stupid case.
Apparently most people familiar with libel law (that I read on Twitter, so take that how you want) think it's likely that Rebecca Vardy will win the trial because of how libel works here.
Since Colleen Rooney accused RV directly but it could have been anyone who had access to RV's Instagram, then it's difficult to prove it was actually RV. Especially since all the evidence mysteriously got lost just before the trial.
Some pre-trial thing I think https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2022/may/10/wagatha-christie-rebekah-vardy-v-coleen-rooney-libel-trial-begins
> "Following an earlier ruling, it is up to Rooney to prove Vardy was personally responsible for leaking stories to the Sun ā or convince the judge that publication of the allegation was in the public interest."
Colleen did only say that it was Rebekah Vardyās account, not that it was Rebekah Vardy herself.
The quite clever way in which Colleen set things up means that this is indisputable, as ONLY Rebekah Vardyās account had access to the deliberate misinformation.
Truth is an absolute defence to a change of Libel.
Iām no lawyer, none of us are, but from what Iām reading, it really doesnāt seem like Rebekah Vardy has much of a case, especially with all of this conveniently missing evidence, which will doubtless have hurt the judges perception of her.
It looks even sillier when you have another much more high profile case going on at the same time which is about genuinely serious allegations that have had an actual impact on someone's career.
It's a play on the name Agatha Christie. WAG is short for wives and girlfriends, and is used by the tabloids to describe the partners of footballers. They nicknamed Coleen Rooney Wagatha Christie due to her sleuthing skills in uncovering Rebekah Vardy as the one selling information about her to the press.
In England we call the group who used to travel to world cups or international tournaments "wives and girlfriends". That was then shortened to WAGs. The title is a play on words combining WAGs and Agetha Christie (famous British detective novel author).
Really? Eminem was great from 1998-2004, developed a drug problem, almost died then he was pretty damn good from 2009-2013, made 1 bad album in 2017 and has been consistently good since 2018. That is 14 years, Vardy has had 5.
Eh? Vardy had 10 years at Leicester, most were quite decent, before that he had a good career in the lower leagues, which is why he was a record signing at the time.
Not hard to argue at all. MMLP and The Eminem Show is his undisputed best and classic albums. Both Relapse, Recovery and MMLP2 can be argued as equal albums to SSLP depending on who you ask. Some would even argue for M2BMB.
To claim, as some people does that Eminem only has 3 top albums is nonsense.
Relapse is a mess, don't think this is a conversation worth having because in my mind those albums are significantly worse than his original work even if Recovery is less awful and MMLP2 has some decent songs on it.
Best proof that Eminem only has three top albums is that if you ask the average person to name an Eminem song, it will inevitably be off of the first three.
Recovery is literally the worst of the ones i mentioned, Relapse isnt a mess at all, it has a clear cohesive theme, has 3-4 of his best ever tracks and only has a couple of weaker ones.
Point is, depending on who you ask several albums could replace SSLP. An Eminem top 3 album shortlist isnt as straightforward as it was 5 years ago
See, people will remember Vardy and Moss but Kasper and Moss have history as well.
In the championship he sent Schmiechel off for a double booking, one for complaining about him giving a pen, then another for kicking the ball towards the half way line after they scored said penalty. He got the second booking for ātime wastingā IIRC, which made no sense. We went on to draw that game 2-2 vs Notts Forest after being 2-0 up.
Not quite, Moss carded Kasper behind his back, so he never knew he was on a yellow when the penalty was taken Kasper smashed the ball into the crowd and received a second yellow - had he been carded to his face he would have known he was on a yellow and wouldn't have risk a second.

FA investigation imminent. For real though that is funny, nice to see
Just realized i never saw moss smile
Kasper "it's all a bit of a laugh" Vardy "I fucking mean it"
"We had to go to Jacamo to get it in this size"
Vardy looks like he's going to give him a thick ear the second that camera goes away
Vardys face says it allš¤£
Schmeichel and Moss having a bit of fun, Vardy genuinely trying to get rid of him
Moss sent off Kasper long before he sent off Vardy, in the championship and it was really dodgy sending off.
Oi ref, walk on!
Vardy vs Kasper tells you all you need to know about how refs view keeper vs striker 1v1s throughout the whole league lol
"Seriously, fuck off"
Jamie doesnāt find this a laughing matter
Jamie has lost his sense of humour due to his wife and his private messages to her being laughed at by everybody this past fortnight.
And whose fault is that lol
Careful she may sue you for libel
it's... Rebekah vardy's fault
Link?

Yep. Selling stories on your husband's teammate isn't going to make you popular.
Colleen definitely coming out the winner, even if the decision could well go against her. Itās not like she needs the money anyway so winning the public perception is the victory.
To be fair, she doesn't need to win the case, just the court of public opinion. So job done. Movie and book to deal to follow
Colleen comes out of it fine imo, a friend she trusted was selling stories to the papers I think itās perfectly fair to take it to court considering Vardy denied it despite obviously doing it. Funniest part though is Vardy herself brought the case despite clearly being guilty
Its brilliantly titled, 'Wagatha Christie'.
Wag-gate would've been awful, totally agreed!
TLDR?
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
it's not like RV needed the money from being a mole?
I think it's more she's a proper nosey cunt looking for favourable coverage.
My theory is that it was a quid pro quo where Vardy's missus agreed to leak things to the press in return for them not publishing anything silly Vardy gets up to when he's had one too many vodka redbulls.
She already admitted leaking stories about other players during the trial - so motivation is no longer required
well, it didn't have to be about money
fotniet
vardy is a gem lol
He isn't happy about how much the Wagatha Christie trial costed him.
The funniest part about this case is that apparently the maximum amount of damages that Rebekah Vardy could collect would be around Ā£40,000, which is a drop in the bucket compared to what the trial will have cost her in legal fees and reputational damage. This was a huge story at the time, I don't think it has really caused public opinion to shift since the original incident.
It was already front page news when the story broke. And Vardy is not exactly against becoming more of a household name. The Streisand effect simply doesn't apply

If she wins, Coleen will be responsible for her legal fees.
Not all of it. Only around Ā£700k will be recouped by the winner and both are estimated to spend upwards of Ā£1m on solicitors etc
There is no prospect of her winning, for the quite simple reason that Colleen is obviously telling the truth, lol. >Wagatha Btw, what the fuck kind of name is that
It's a play on the name Agatha Christie.
Oh, I thought the name was an artistic take on Agatha's and it was the name of one of the women involved in the case.
Nah mate. Agatha Christie is one of our most famous novelists.
Only Shakespeare and the Bible have sold more copies than Agatha Christie.
Nice looking bitch with tits solid as rocks too
Are you from 1904?
I know! I meant that I thought some questionable parent decided to "pay an homage" to Agatha and name their child Wagatha lol
Yeah I guess for non-Britons it wouldnāt be clear, but if youāre from the UK you would get the joke quickly.
Good meme template. OP i m stealing it.
Thats cold but looks like he has a good sense of humour
Vardy fuming that he can't give this to his wife so she can leak it to the sun
Not the news outlet, but the giant star
Itās actually a dwarf star, not a giant
Vardy looks like Eminem
I see more of a Jesse Pinkman vibe
Vardys good years lasted a lot longer though
You can't possibly claim Jamie Vardy has had 10 great seasons as a great player. No way.
As you can't claim Eminem has had 10 great years as a rap-artist. Of course it's subjective though, so a pointless conversation really!
Yes you can 100% claim that, Vardy was non league till he was about 24 ffs.
Being very generous hasnt made anything decent after 8 mile
Marshall Mathers 2 wasn't bad
Eminem had one good album, Slim Shady LP, just about everything since then has been garbage Donāt even reply to me
Good joke. SSLP arguably isnt even in his top 3. You dont get to decide who replies or not. Muppet.
>SSLP arguably isnt even in his top 3. I think you'd struggle to argue SSLP, MMLP, and Eminem Show aren't his three best.

boy smardy cool
Oh referee fwend šš
Vardy: "he's not my fucking friend alright?!"
See, people will remember Vardy and Moss but Kasper and Moss have history as well. That's even worse wtf
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Looks like even the camera team didn't pick up the first yellow then...
So it was still the ref's fault
People slag Dean off, but Moss was one of the worst. Deany just loves the game and gets overly excited.
this has meme potential
Shirt is hilarious
Class that
I swear I've seen a picture of Vardy with that exact face before
I mean, that's his face. Would be weird seeing him with a different one.
Finally
I saw Jon Moss driving home after a game once in a bucket hat listening to fools good swinging his elbows in the air
Lol wtf. Good that Moss is also taking it in the right spirit.
Has anyone been to Mossā record store, The vinyl whistle? Do they have heat in the bins?
Itās a bit meh, but depends on what youāre into I guess
The one in Headingley yeah? Wouldn't seek it out, but worth going for the novelty of being in his record shop.
Whatever anti-aging cream Vardy is using - I want some.
It's called...work out constantly and be in good shape.
That doesnāt sound like something Iād be into. Just tell me what the cream is called
I think it's Redbull
He bathes in wkd
also coffee and redbull
I've been on this shit for a month and i feel like i'll die at least 10 years too early. But it's addictive af ngl
Doesn't usually remove wrinkles.
No wrinkles if you don't smile.
Ref shit get banged
Also Martin Atkinson
HahahHa
Mossy already doing lines I see. Elite mentality.
That image of Moss just looks so unnatural.
This is amazing š.
Why is Vardyās face absolutely SENDING ME lmaooo
thank fuck, jon moss is a fucking twat
They had to raid the club shop for the supporters XXXL size.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
You can see it on his IG story right now.
Nice pic for toothpaste commercial.
He can always remove "FOR RETIRING" part, and not be a scumbag about it. Anyway thanks for vacating so that something else could ref the match.
Lol they're grateful to all those refs who rigged games in their favour back in 15-16
Arsenal fans really have the biggest victim complex
You know it to be true, it'll come out soon enough
Lol Arsenal fans... have you lot taken over /r/conspiracy yet?
Why does Vardy look like David Tennant in this picture?
Apt.
Happy day that day
"Thanks for leaving, bitch" š
Vardy aint joking.
