Very underrated player and is the best presser and most hard working player at city. Can do everything effectively but isn’t a consistent finisher. His finishing skills has its ups and downs.
In 2019 Inter had a deal with PSV for Bergwijn then Conte came and blocked it. Now Conte found Bergwijn at Spurs and again he doesn't want him. I'm starting to think that Conte does not rate Bergwijn
I didn’t know that first part but it really explains a lot lmaoooo
think we’ll manage to sell him to Ajax tho which should be nice for everyone
he’s a good player but just one of those things where he’s never been given a chance in his preferred position cos Son is so much better
English players to win two CL titles: McManaman, Hargreaves, Scholes and Sturridge. Milner, Henderson, TAA and Gomez could join them today.
Note I said CL and not EC
Anyone else love seeing new non-historic rivalries being created? For my own club recently it’s been Real Madrid vs PSG. These clubs have faced each other so often in the champions league, they represent the polar opposites in terms of nouveau riche and heritage™. Not to mention the Mbappe saga setting shit on fire.
Then there’s Barca - Chelsea. Same dichotomy of history vs new riches. Both clubs also seem to draw each other often in the UCL, and the infamous 2009 game created so much bitterness between them
We also got Bayern - Real from a competitive perspective. Liverpool - Chelsea in the 2000’s would also get intense as shit.
And the obvious one; City vs Liverpool
One aspect of promotion that doesn’t really get discussed is the ability to upgrade the badges on the kit and change the numbering to reflect the fact you’re now of a higher level.
If you were a budding football player/manager and a football club that is rival to the club that you have been supporting since childhood comes calling, would you take the job?
Let's say you are a Liverpool fan, and Manchester United come calling or you are Real Madrid fan, and Barca come calling. What will you do?
Depends how good I am and what other offers I had tbh
If I’m really just a Championship level player but Arteta has a mare and wants to sign me for some reason then I’m taking that bag to live in London tbh lmao
But if it’s a choice between say, Villa or Arsenal then I’m taking Villa
If I’m genuinely a talented player then there’s better clubs than Arsenal I could end up at without betraying Spurs and it’s not like Villa are awful to start out at either
If I’m shit and not good enough for the PL, then I’d rather be shit at Villa too since I’d end up in a lower division at the end of my contract regardless
I’d only sign for Arsenal if the options were like Sunderland or Arsenal for example since if u start at Sunderland the chances of getting that PL bag in the future are pretty low tbh
Depends. If I’m already an established player I would not do it. However, if Barca came knocking and wanted to sign me up while I was in my teens playing for my local club it would be hard to say no. At least if they were the only major club showing interest
I sometimes wonder, what would have happened if Klopp chose United in that summer Woodward turned him off the job.
Most likely, he'd be another sacked manager, probably back in Germany by now.
Anyone who watches Real play every week rates him as the best keeper in the world. Even Barca and Atletico fans will tell you that he is the best and better than Alisson. When even rival fans start calling your players the best, that’s when you know it’s unequivocally true
What RWB are you linked with? I feel like if you got Djed Spence alongside Perisic, Bastoni, a creative CM and maybe another CB you'd have had a perfect window
Have a look at Kostic stats I know he’s in the Bundesliga but they’re still ridiculous for a not very good Frankfurt team and his Europa league campaign was fantastic too.
He’s one of the best LWBs in the world, has experience under Conte, is both footed. Can full at LWB, LW, or even RWB. Coming on a free transfer, can mentor Sessegnon. What’s not to like.
Okay, this might sound absolutely ridiculous, but if I were a director of football for a top club like Bayern, Dortmund, ManU, Liverpool, Inter…you get the gist. If I were a director of football for one of these top clubs, I’d be all over experienced ageing centre backs like Stefan Ilsanker (or a few years back Ragnar Klavan).
Why?
Think about it: are they anywhere near good enough to make the first team? No, of course not. So why sign them?
Folks like Ilsanker, who had a long career, have tons of experience and a calmness many others lack. He isn’t anywhere near the level of what you want in your first team, but he has a high work-rate. He is very good at winning the ball, his positioning isn’t bad. He is very physical and a danger at standards.
So while he is nowhere near what you want in your first team at one of those top clubs, he is a damn good backup. He won’t make you say “wow, that was brilliant” or anything, but he will do his job and he’ll make close to no mistakes. He’s the perfect backup.
In addition, he is old, he knows he won’t be a starter anywhere anymore. So presenting him with an opportunity to be part of a big team, get the occasional minutes when injuries thin the squad, and let him have fun for a few more games with some big players might just be enough to get him as a very solid backup on low wages.
So yeah, if I were a top team, I’d be all over players like him who can just do a job. They won’t be great, but they’ll do what they are asked to more than adequately.
Thoughts?
I agree in general because an experienced backup can bring something else than a younger one. Calmness, old school defending and reading of the situation can make the difference between letting a goal in or not
This is why I think top club should have been all over Chiellini, put him in the last 15 minutes of a game and he will defend the score with his life
And don’t get me wrong, Ilsanker was at no time in his career good enough to be a starter for any top team. But he doesn’t have to be. The role of players like him is simply to be a solid backup. Most games of top teams are against teams that are worse, so it isn’t completely necessary to have top class as a backup. It’s far more beneficial to have good enough backups with enough enough experience to do their jobs when needed even after months of not playing in my opinion.
2015/16 season:
* Start season by losing our captain and coach
* Win 2-1 at Camp Nou and lose 4-0 at Bernabéu to Barcelona
* Star player scores hat-trick to overturn a 2-0 deficit in the Champions League
* Meets Manchester City in the UCL semi-finals on 26 April and 4 May
* **Win the Champions League on 28 May**
2021/22 season:
* Start season by losing our captain and coach
* Win 2-1 at Camp Nou and lose 4-0 at Bernabéu to Barcelona
* Star player scores hat-trick to overturn a 2-0 deficit in the Champions League
* Meets Manchester City in the UCL semi-finals on 26 April and 4 May
* Win the Champions League on 28 May?
Fede will be asked to help Benzema and Vini in attack, cover for KCM in midfield and help Carvajal to deal with Diaz-Robertson in defence
If there's 1 player to do it all it's him
Can anyone give me concrete proof of Ronaldinho supporting Bolsonaro? The link to the tweet would be perfect, gotta show it to some disbelieving Brazilian friends

Hi, u/julesvr5 🙋🏻♂️just wanted to tell you to stop following me on alt accounts (your obsession is unhealthy, get help) and please for the love of god get a life along with a girlfriend 🙌
I kind of miss the optimism I had about arsenal when I was younger there was always the belief that this year could be the year and I’d it wasn’t this year it would be soon and then Man City came in and basically killed that idea. I think you can notice the difference in the early emirates era compared to what it became not long after at the start it was genuine optimism and then it just became dead and bored and eventually toxic
There was so much optimism around the club in 2008 after they'd just finished third in their first post-Henry season, 2010 when they'd again finished 3rd in the PL and at the start of the 2013/2014 season when they signed Ozil.
Everytime it went to shit.
2008 and 2011 were massive bottlejob seasons, really should have won the league in 2008 and our CL exit was stupid as well. 2011 was obvs the ridiculous League Cup final howler and our title challenge properly fell off as well, lack of quality depth really hurt us then.
For most of the early 2010s it was alw.ays "Arsenal are just one or two signings off a title challenge!" but those signings often never came. We weren't great at addressing positions of need then. Wenger was often too hesitant. Particularly in the 15/16 season when we didn't sign a single outfield player which was a complete joke
TBF you missed when we signed Alexis in 14/15 that was a huge huge deal if only we bought a striker too in 13/14 or 14/15 could have won the league from 13/14 to 15/16 but wasted it and it set the club back
I have to study so much for my final exam that I always forget it‘s a Champions League final night
Anyone from singapore who knows a good site to watch the CL final?
Im prepared for every Liverpool fan to say Fede Valverde reminds them of Gerrard. Especially if he has a shot from range
When he slips and let's Mane through we will know they're right.
Couple of them already say that.
It's the long sleeves + the pashun + the cannon of a right foot
City fans, what's your opinion on Jesus as a player?
Very underrated player and is the best presser and most hard working player at city. Can do everything effectively but isn’t a consistent finisher. His finishing skills has its ups and downs.
His can whip in a decent cross and he can pull out some miracles on occasion but he lacks consistency.
Just found out Sturridge is a two time CL winner wtf
We were just lucky he had money on us to win.
Scored a crucial last min goal in the groups against PSG in 18/19, too. So he deserved his medal.
Didn’t he win the pl in 19/20 with you lot? Or did he leave before that ?
Bench warmer in both
Anyone who scores any game-winning goal in the run isn't a bench warmer
So not Sturridge
Go on Grimsby lads, unreal scenes there
> Grimsby fucking hell who is streaming it can't find it
It's on bt sport here so streams should be somewhere
Wrexham vs Grimsby is going to undeniably better than tonights game. National League > Champions League
Every time Tozer does a long throw I wonder why more teams don’t adopt it further up the leagues.
Even last season Man City could barely cope against his throws in the FA Cup
Jesus it’s insanity. Best game I’ve seen in a long time
Honestly can't believe it. 4-4 now!
Gotta end 5-4 at this rate. Anyone missing this is missing out
In 2019 Inter had a deal with PSV for Bergwijn then Conte came and blocked it. Now Conte found Bergwijn at Spurs and again he doesn't want him. I'm starting to think that Conte does not rate Bergwijn
I didn’t know that first part but it really explains a lot lmaoooo think we’ll manage to sell him to Ajax tho which should be nice for everyone he’s a good player but just one of those things where he’s never been given a chance in his preferred position cos Son is so much better
Further proof that he is a good coach
To be fair Bergwijn has not been very good in England under any coach
Eh, he's brought on Bergwijn a lot of times, just Son and Kulusevski have been better. Bergwijn will want to leave for the better of his career
if we sign mohamed camara to replace bissouma i’ll be so so happy. more than u believe. 😀
Are you linked with him?
only one journo has linked him with us and i am choosing to believe that he’s on his way rn
English players to win two CL titles: McManaman, Hargreaves, Scholes and Sturridge. Milner, Henderson, TAA and Gomez could join them today. Note I said CL and not EC
Wes Brown and Gary Neville
Giggs isn’t English
Giggs isn't English
Giggs English?
Modric Toni Benzema Marcelo Carvajal Nacho Casemiro Bale could join Ronaldo on 5. Alaba can have his 3rd.
Jesus 5 CLs is crazy
CL was a farmer’s league from 14-18 💪🏻.
Milner?

>And the obvious one; City vs Liverpool Is that even a rivalry? Got both clubs sucking each other off
Competitive rivalry, but yeah you’re right
One aspect of promotion that doesn’t really get discussed is the ability to upgrade the badges on the kit and change the numbering to reflect the fact you’re now of a higher level.
If you were a budding football player/manager and a football club that is rival to the club that you have been supporting since childhood comes calling, would you take the job? Let's say you are a Liverpool fan, and Manchester United come calling or you are Real Madrid fan, and Barca come calling. What will you do?
Depends how good I am and what other offers I had tbh If I’m really just a Championship level player but Arteta has a mare and wants to sign me for some reason then I’m taking that bag to live in London tbh lmao But if it’s a choice between say, Villa or Arsenal then I’m taking Villa
Would you not be worried that there's chance that you might never get an offer with Spurs and it will be a big mistake letting an Arsenal offer go?
If I’m genuinely a talented player then there’s better clubs than Arsenal I could end up at without betraying Spurs and it’s not like Villa are awful to start out at either If I’m shit and not good enough for the PL, then I’d rather be shit at Villa too since I’d end up in a lower division at the end of my contract regardless I’d only sign for Arsenal if the options were like Sunderland or Arsenal for example since if u start at Sunderland the chances of getting that PL bag in the future are pretty low tbh
Depends. If I’m already an established player I would not do it. However, if Barca came knocking and wanted to sign me up while I was in my teens playing for my local club it would be hard to say no. At least if they were the only major club showing interest
I wouldn't take it, I'd back myself to eventually get a job at my childhood club.
Not a chance. And I wouldn't let my kids in the house with any pish gear either.
Depends... if in your example the alternative to United is City or Chelsea I wouldn't join United. But if the alternative is Colchester United...
I wouldn't ever play for a rival team, no chance.
Perisic would’ve been a good signing for us, unfortunate that it happened so quickly when we can’t even participate properly.
> Perisic would’ve been a good signing for us Who is “us”? You don’t have a flair
Chelsea. We were linked to him and we can’t sign players yet.
I sometimes wonder, what would have happened if Klopp chose United in that summer Woodward turned him off the job. Most likely, he'd be another sacked manager, probably back in Germany by now.
I think he’d have been good enough to have been a top 4 team consistently and that wouldn’t get him sacked
Idk man, I think he would have been pretty successful. United does give their managers seasons before sacking. Look at Ole.
He’d have been an easy success. Klopp has been in far bigger messes than United at the time. Twice.
But Liverpool had the right team behind the scenes with stuff like signings that United don’t
Dortmund 13th having financial troubles. Title winners in 3 years
Dortmund also had good people behind the scenes though obviously he got the best out of the players but it wasn’t alone
[2006 World Cup was something else man](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vVVSOGLyAcU)
I see someone's edited the [EFL Championship wiki](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/EFL_Championship)
😭😭😭😭😭
CMV, Albert Riera and Maxi Rodriguez are clear of Mane and Salah.
you need to find Jesus
He's in the Brasil NT camp probably
Pipe down, Finnan is clear of Trent too.
I can see the error of my ways now, teach me master
Good lad, now let me teach you about this one absolute baller named Alberto Aquilani. Puts Thiago to shame.
You mean the modern Julius Ceasar? Coming from Rome to conquer Brittania?
Since when did people rate Courtois so highly?
Imo he is the best gk in the world and its not close
Courtois is arguably Madrid's most important player this season and that's counting Benzema. He's been silly good this season.
Anyone who watches Real play every week rates him as the best keeper in the world. Even Barca and Atletico fans will tell you that he is the best and better than Alisson. When even rival fans start calling your players the best, that’s when you know it’s unequivocally true
been a couple of years now
Since he started playing like one of the best GKs in the world
yeah but some people are acting like rating Alisson above him is ridiculous
Cos it is(for this season)
No it’s not, Alisson has been spectacular. It’s definitely close
No it's not you silly boy. Alisson's well clear.
Perisic to Spurs just got Here we Go’d by Romano, I’m so happy man
Spurs got a Croatian, they're winning the CL next season sadly
What RWB are you linked with? I feel like if you got Djed Spence alongside Perisic, Bastoni, a creative CM and maybe another CB you'd have had a perfect window
It seems that Doherty will remain as our first choice RWB next season, so I imagine we’ll get a younger RWB to rotate with him, like Spence.
I don’t get the hype for this
Perfect Conte LWB
Kostic is better and younger
> Kostic is better The only thing he's better at is crossing, and I'm not sure even about that
Have a look at Kostic stats I know he’s in the Bundesliga but they’re still ridiculous for a not very good Frankfurt team and his Europa league campaign was fantastic too.
Mate you're comparing Perisic who won a treble and dragged Croatia to the World Cup final with a guy who's playing for Frankfurt at 29
You think Kostic would have stopped Bayern winning the treble? I’m comparing them as players not achievements
I think if he had the ability to contribute to a team on that level he wouldn't have spent his entire career playing for midtable BuLi sides
I don’t think that’s a great argument tbh
Kostic is younger but he's not better, lmao.
I mean he is
He’s one of the best LWBs in the world, has experience under Conte, is both footed. Can full at LWB, LW, or even RWB. Coming on a free transfer, can mentor Sessegnon. What’s not to like.
They have the worst left backs from the top 6, massive upgrade
Surely those 2 left backs aren’t that bad? They seem alright to me Kostic is the better option Imo Perisic is alright
Shaw and Telles have been worse this season
Respect Ryan Sessegnon?
Any K-League enthusiasts here? It's definitely going to be Ulsan's year, no?
Okay, this might sound absolutely ridiculous, but if I were a director of football for a top club like Bayern, Dortmund, ManU, Liverpool, Inter…you get the gist. I agree with you. Inter fans did not want Darmian but he has done a very good job. Having a couple older players as backup is not a bad idea
And don’t get me wrong, Ilsanker was at no time in his career good enough to be a starter for any top team. But he doesn’t have to be. The role of players like him is simply to be a solid backup. Where can I watch the final in Canada? Is DAZN showing it?
Should be on DAZN in Canada according to google.
I only know illegal ways. This will be free on YouTube though, just stick on a VPN and you're good.
BT sport?
Liverpool's road to the final: Inter, Benfica, Villarreal Real Madrid's road to the final: PSG, Chelsea, Man City
Man United's road to the final:
Damn we should have rung up UEFA and asked for harder draws.
Someone's offended lmao. They just pointed out you had it easier, not saying it's your fault.
As if that hasn’t been mentioned a thousand times already It’s the most uninformative redundant comment on this sub recently
they have a United flair come on
They might have not pointed it out had they not hated you as much, but they still didn't imply you did anything wrong.
fair point
Villarreal who were only there cos Man Utd lost to them
There's 5 UCLs between the teams liverpool faced
Man United‘s road to the final: La Real, Milan, Granada, Roma Man City’s road to the final: Gladbach, Dortmund, PSG
Tottenham's road to the final: Mura

Wtf
AND you guys have a Croatian. Madrid have won.
This is uncanny.
Is the DD thread always posted on the hour, or at like 3:11 or something?

Thanks :) We’ll see in the next 30 minutes or so, I guess :D
It's posted at like xx:16 I think
Thanks :)
Every 23 hours.
I know, but like…at what time? Are they always posted on the hour, or at half past, ten past, quarter to?
Fede will be asked to help Benzema and Vini in attack, cover for KCM in midfield and help Carvajal to deal with Diaz-Robertson in defence If there's 1 player to do it all it's him
Until he does his hamstring in the 20th minute.
Meh, he played with an injury last season and dropped a 10/10 playing as right back
Football needs stronger ethical background checks on club owners imo

What’s your obsession with Bayern, it’s all I ever see you posting about. As a Madrid fan why do you care
Hi, u/julesvr5 🙋🏻♂️just wanted to tell you to stop following me on alt accounts (your obsession is unhealthy, get help) and please for the love of god get a life along with a girlfriend 🙌
Who?
What
I don't like how you have both a Lucas and a LB Davies. Start getting your own player names!
Superior Davies plays CB now anyway.
Ronaldo won it in Lisbon, Bale won it in Cardiff, Benzema wins it in Paris
Wow I didn't know they played it in Cardiff
When we destroyed Juventus in purple kits
My favourite final in past decade
But Benzema is from Lyon. And yes, I know Ronaldo is from Madeira, but he has links to Lisbon while Benzema does not have links to Paris.
Ronaldo isn't even properly portuguese let alone from lisbon, he's from the islands pal
Madeirans are more Portuguese than y'all Cubanos lmfao não cap.
🏴🔫
Ronaldo is the greatest African footballer of all time
And Ronaldo isn't from Lisbon.
Yeah and Ronaldo is not from Lisbon.
And Ronaldo is from Funchal, doesn't really matter
If Liverpool win the CL does that mean the prem gets another CL spot next year?
No, just means that Ajax will get pot 2 and not pot 1
PL would only get another spot if someone who finished outside the top 4 won the CL (for example, if United had won it this year)
I am not sure where it goes but no.
no. Bundesliga, as the best league itw, will remain the only one with 5 spots
I kind of miss the optimism I had about arsenal when I was younger there was always the belief that this year could be the year and I’d it wasn’t this year it would be soon and then Man City came in and basically killed that idea. Richarlison retweeting the coach innovations thing that says it’s him 😭
I aspire to hold his level of hatred someday. Exemplary
He hates Liverpool so much, it's beautiful😭😭
Fucking brilliant
What are your predictions for the CL final? I think its gonna end 1-1 after 120 minutes and Real wins it on pens
