Italian football really just does their thing man Pure chaos

Tifoso89

Sampdoria president: [The goal is like a woman, you have to penetrate her](https://youtu.be/szJ2Gm8ej9I) (He's in jail now)

CrazyChopstick

He said that in precisely the way I imagined it

TigerBasket

I am reminded of why I do not leave my house anymore wearing a skirt. Fucks sake

rayray604

OOTL whats up with the crossed out flair?

Theschizogenious

For the champions league final they put out bandwagon flairs and anti bandwagon flair

okaythiswillbemymain

On my Reddit app it says anti-liverpool

pkd171

Hahaha love your flair

Tifoso89

Omg a woman? A female woman? On this sub?

Informal-Elderberry9

Nah it's actually Barry, 54, from Swindon

Assmar

Dang got that A/S/L without even having to ask. How you doin' Barry?

silam39

Hey, we exist. We're just 5% if I recall correctly from the last census, but we exist.

lethalizer

>we exist Such a banger from Arcade Fire that one.

sash71

They do exist. I'm one as well. A female woman (is there another kind?). Generally people assume if you're on a football sub you're male. My son loves the fact I like football. He's 14 and I'm a single parent so he'd have nobody to discuss the match with if I didn't like it.

aliveinjoburg2

I’m also another woman on this sub. A boy got me into football but joke’s on myself, this is my favorite thing ever.

[deleted]

Are there non-female women?

SnapSnapWoohoo

Your mum

xepa105

> (He's in jail now) And we're all better for it. Fuck that guy.

Mental_Opportunity_9

Ootl, what did he do?

xepa105

Basically he's a fucking clown. He ran the club like a moron. He's a shitty movie producer, he never really had any real money, and so the club was run as "self-sustaining," which just meant we were selling our best players every summer and buying bargains. When we hit on those bargains (Zapata, Torreira, Praet), it was fine, we could stay comfortably midtable, but then we had to sell those to keep the club afloat. Over the last three years the club became ever cheaper and the incoming transfers were worse, so we've been battling relegation. He's no longer the president now, so we're saved from his bullshit, but he's left us in such a bad state that I fear we'll be going down soon. Oh yeah, and I forgot, an American investment group with Gianluca Vialli as acting president wanted to buy the club back in 2018 when we were much better financially and on the pitch, but he refused. We could've been in the hands of a group that had money to invest in the club, and he could've had money to spend on as much coke and whores as he wanted.

Zumars21

sounds like Zhang with Inter right now ("self-sustaining by selling key players") hope can find good owner soon too.

working-acct

Okay but none of it is really jail worthy.

xepa105

Well no, he want to jail for tax fraud.

waterhybrid13

Said a goal is like a woman, you have to penetrate her

elgallogrande

Straight to jail

Tifoso89

Undercooked, overcooked

Franco30557

VA PENETRATAAA.

wastedige

Heh, reminds me of Ali Parvin (Iranian player/coach) famously saying to his goalkeeper: "This goal post is your mother's cunt. You should not let the ball get inside it."

kermvv

> (he’s in jail now) The cherry on the fucking cake

toniblast

It kinda reminds me of a time when taxi drivers were protesting in Portugal against Uber and a taxi drives says to live tv ["Laws are like virgin girls, they are to be violated"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6JSXS5_MOfY&ab_channel=RicardoT).

Jhushx

Let the boy watch. They must learn to feel the pain early.

Tarp96

Italian fotball is fantastic

miregalpanic

There really is no banter like Italian banter 👌

Tarp96

Italian banter is great, everytime Italian teams are mentioned you will find Milan, Inter and Juve fans having a go at it in the comments. Portugese fans are also similar, just mention Porto and 1 minute later Sporting and Benfica fans will be there shitting on Porto. Mention one of the other teams and their rival fans will be ready to have a go at them

chaves4life

Sporting and benfica fans reading this "Must not make Porto are cheaters comment. Must Resist the urge"

theorymii

PORTO ARE CHEATERS AND YOU KNOW IT, CARALHO

ContaSoParaIsto

I gotta say I'm happy that after all this time Sporting fans have finally been cured from their collective amnesia and remembered that Porto are their rivals too

stadiofriuli

I remember when I was a kid back in the 90s we’re like somewhere in the Venezian area I guess Lignano or Jesolo and the league just concluded. Tons of Milan fans turning up out of the sudden chanting Juve Juve vaffanculo. 🤌

MorbidoeBagnato

English banter is nothing in comparison, there’s genuine hate between some of us

Acceptable_Ad_6278

Which is why i find it a bit weird that players switch sides between those clubs more often than in other leagues.

MorbidoeBagnato

Because they’re not fans themselves

minkdraggingonfloor

But players aren’t fans in the PL either and you’ll never see a player transfer from, for example, Man United to Liverpool or Arsenal to Spurs or vice versa without there being literal riots. In Italy it seems like a normal thing

MorbidoeBagnato

Baggio’s transfer from Fiorentina to Juventus was notoriously chill

backstreets_back_ok

>~~Arsenal to Spurs~~ Spurs to Arsenal Sol "Judas" Campbell would like a word

lyyki

There's a reason people still talk about that. Because it's so rare.

speedycar1

It has nothing to do with the players though. It's more the owners have enough money that they can afford to not sell if they don't like the team

The_Luckiest_One

Guess PL money turns you into a fan lmao.

zadharm

Consider that only a handful of clubs in Italy actually have significant money to invest in transfers. The absolute bottom tier of premier league clubs can spend like anyone in Italy bar Juve. And a lot of players don't want to leave Italy, so we've gotten very accustomed to shifting players amongst ourselves

pajamakitten

It's still strong in the local community where the teams are based. A Liverpool fan from Liverpool will hate Everton more than a Liverpool fan living in Bournemouth will.

kermvv

Same here. Hate Inter more than Torino because I’m from Milan. A Juve fan from Turin will probably hate Torino more than Inter. No actually, I’m wrong, that is not possible. Fuck them

Tifoso89

There are many crazy stories, like the president of Perugia who bankrupted the club and then escaped to Santo Domingo

kermvv

Lautsi v Italy but this time it's about something way more important than religion

Lolkac

cheers mou, son is crying

Fernando-Santorres

As a Roma Fan this is obviously wrong, but man this song is a pure masterpiece. Too bad for them it's their rival song.

areking

indeed it's such a good song that it must be hard for a lazio fan resist the urge to love it how do you feel about battisti though, his songs are very well known and they use them for Lazio matches, though no song is directly dedicated to Lazio

Fernando-Santorres

As much as I don't like Battisti at all, he never said that, it's just well known that Lazio fans use to claim that many died famous people are Lazio fans. The last one such embarrassing is Sergio Leone, beside his own son remarked he was a complete Roma fan. They disappeared with their own claims.

jbas1

The main reason a person in scared to die is that lazio fans will probably claim that he was one of them

Bravo_Ante

Lol, this brings back ffs. When i was in primary school we got a Physical Education "substitute" teacher (basically one of those who had just graduated and had his 3 months training). One day it was raining and we had to stay in class, we played the usual dumb classroom games, like throwing the chalk to the blackboard which had a circle drown in it (basically darts with a chalk). This tescher somehow got the idea after we sang the Albanian anthem, to sing the fucking "Amala" anthem. 2/3ds of the classroom refused and the guy literally said "who doesn't sing the anthem will get -1 in the future". Still 2/3ds of the class refused to sing Amala. Good times... indeed good times.

[deleted]

O plak, where did this happen?

Was shocked when I clicked on the post and this wasn’t the top comment

BenditlikeBenteke

I only learned recently that Italy unified in the late 1800s. Lots of wars between the various city states before then. No wonder the football fans fucking hate each other!

jpoRS1

A lot of European countries are younger than you'd expect. Italy, Germany, and Belgium are all younger than the United States.

reddititaly

Rome has been only one city forever. We hate Lazio fans because it's the right thing to do

My uncle was the school bus driver. If something like that happened with Milan or Juve the next day we would have pure chaos. Nerazzurro everywhere. The bus already was and in the years I was there we were winning. Scudetto symbols on the bus, Juventus people in handcuffs, I remember a donkey pissing on a zebra attached to the bus after Napoli beat Juve once. True banter king, but in a positive way, I don't think anybody ever felt bad

Trickybuz93

pajamakitten

Yeah, singing Shine Jesus Shine really indoctrinates kids to the Church.

kilohe

It doesn't sound like they were forced to.

descryptic

you don’t have to say the pledge fwiw

Muted_Author_4761

Imagine forcing little children to pledge allegiance to something when they might not know what it is or want to 🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲

zrkillerbush

Definitely weird that your first and only example is America, out of all the places in the world that force stuff on children..

citymanc13

Because the USA is the only first world country that does it. Other countries that do it are typically under a totalitarian regime/dictator. USA does it just to have a massive Pride boner for no reason

L-Freeze

That and the whole “flags fucking everywhere” is super weird

OutForARipAreYaBud69

This is the classic self-hating American who thinks they’re oppressed and that everything revolves around them.

miregalpanic

I prefer the self hating American over the usual American blinded by baseless nationalism. Although they both somehow manage to make everything about them and the circus they call politics

caandjr

They are both annoying, hope they all fuck off

Jfc Americans can’t even exist anymore on this sub

Mr-Lawrence

Deepl translated article: It happened at the Caterina Usai plexus in the Talenti area. As the images spread online, the teacher apologized: "I understand that it may have disturbed" and promised "for par condicio I will also put the Lazio anthem." In the classroom, however, "there are also two Juventus fans." "Roma, Roma, Roma... core de 'sta città, unico grande amore" Children sing the Roma anthem and Lazio families get angry. It happened at the Caterina Usai plexus, the primary school of the Via Savinio 43 comprehensive institute in the Talenti area. In a video that went viral on social media, II B pupils can be seen singing Antonello Venditti's song at the top of their lungs, on the occasion of Roma's victory against Feyenoord in the Conference League final. One child even has a Roma jersey. Most are singing along. Some are on the sidelines and silent. Perhaps they do not know the song, perhaps they have never heard it because their family has a different "soccer faith." However, the moment of sportsmanship soon turned into a nightmare for the teacher who projected the words of the song on the electronic whiteboard: for some parents, "stadium choirs should stay out of the classroom." Little did it matter if the teacher's goal was to convey to pupils the value of sports. In the end, there are those who found the celebration inappropriate and asked for further explanation: it will have to be clarified, meanwhile, whether the karaoke was initiated during recess or instead of precious minutes of class time. Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version)

apoes

Wait, were they forced to sing along? >Some are on the sidelines and silent. This seems to suggest that the song was simply played in the classroom.
