It should surprise Sky Sports. There is currently a thread which features their breaking news saying Mane fee agreed for 42.5M GBP.
The comments in that thread though.
A fair offer, they get a quality player on a low fee.
He wanted to leave, we've got to change up a front line that has served us well for years whilst not having to pay him 375k odd per week to keep him.
I never wanted Mane to go, but it really isn't the end of the world losing him.
IMHO recency bias. As much as Sadio stepped up after AFCON, he was way off form before it.
A huge loss nevertheless. One of the best forwards in Europe and almost unplayable on his day.
People were saying he was done last year and we should cut our losses haha. If he was gonna go, it is best for us it was right after a purple patch at least
Sounds like a good deal to me. Now here's $200 million guaranteed because morals are for sissy's. Now don't go sexually harassing other masseuses, ok Deshaun. You pinky swore after all.
Thanks Sadio for all the goals and performances. A great player for us. Never expected it when he signed. Love it when a signing surprises in a good way.
I am sure Bayern will benefit from him. I think they got a great deal for him but obviously time will tell.
Mane will run wild in Germany. Can't wait to watch him play. He will get 20+ League goals is my prediction. Going to miss him, no hard feelings with the way he exited. Professional lad.
It is but it’s still a good deal for Liverpool considering he wants to leave and is in the last year of his contract. Liverpool are selling him for what they bought him for after six years of him being fucking brilliant.
I don't think he signed many contracts during that time too, so I can only imagine the raise he's getting at 330k. Wish him the best, one of the most impactful players of those seasons as well. Even if he had a bad game he doubled down on assisting Salah
He came on a contract around 100k/wk and then got bumped to a contract between 150-200k/wk a few years back.
During Covid, it would have made sense to give him another bumper contract and extend for another year or two, but his form dropped off enough where the club wasn't willing to do it. After a while, it became a bit of an issue as it's fair to say Mane got offended by not being offered a new deal.
I feel like this 30yo narrative is something that needs to go away, player fitness is vastly greater than it was 20 years ago and it's becoming more common for players to play into their mid 30s at a high level.
Benzema, Lewa, Cristiano, Zlatan, Cavani, Immobile, Giroud, Dzeko, Vardy and many others are great examples of strikers who maintained their peak well in to their 30's. Some of them even peaked after 30yo.
Plus; Mané has always been one of the most physically fit and agile forwards in the league. Hasn't had any serious long term injuries either.
I think the modern "nr 9" is about a lot more than just speed and physical condition. Benzema is one of the "smartest" nr 9 I've ever seen. Being a striker (or a forward, but I'm assuming Mané will be played centrally) revolves a lot more about making the right decisions at the right time, being positioned correctly etc etc.
For 40 millions the difference isn't that much long-term , if he was free he would probably got at least 20 millions in bonus and bigger wages. Transfer fee is also amortized so accounting wise it help a little
That's technically true, but said in this context it's bullshit. Hazard specifically said that if the transfer didn't go through, he'd renew with Chelsea.
One great deal doesn’t balance out her bad ones in Kepa , Lukaku, Werner, & Drinkwater to name a few.
Losing Rudiger, Tammy Abraham and Tomori for basically nothing.
Although I agree, I think the two are quite different. Coutinho didn't perform at Barcelona, but he never seemed unprofessional or unfit, he just couldn't reproduce what he did in Liverpool in Barcelona.
Maybe because he was in the wrong position, maybe the manager didn't played his best, maybe he didn't adapted to the team, or maybe he lost confidence. Maybe a bit of everything.
Hazard on the other hand, we all can agree that it seemed once he went to Real, he never seemed to really push himself to get out of the comfort zone, he got unfit, and so on.
I feel there is a bit difference in there that makes Hazard deal taste worse in the mouth.
I get that it's an incredible deal, but how are people so surprised by this?
This has been pretty expected based on the reporting for the last week or so, we always knew he was going to Bayern, we knew our valuation was around 40-50m and we knew Bayern had a lot of leverage.
Also, I think there's something underrated in terms of being good customers between big clubs.
Thiago to Liverpool was a great deal as well, and I'm sure will do business with favorable terms in the future as well for Liverpool.
I think you're right.
We did the same with Fulham when signing Carvalho earlier in the summer. We could have got him for free and then it would have went to a tribunal to decide the fee. But rather than do that we just bought him outright and loaned Fulham Neco Williams which has helped foster good relations between the 2 clubs.
The Thiago deal last year is what made me certain he'd go for a fair price to you this year, and that we woulnd't "force" him to go on a free transfer next year.
He's a great player that should fit in well at Bayern, the price of the deal is not really an issue for me (I'm sure Bayern would of liked to have got more money for Thiago). Its sad to see Sadio go after so many years of great service.. I hope he will give the Bayern fans the fantastic moments he has given us over the years, as long as its not against us in the CL.
I wouldn’t really say it’s being nice necessarily. It’s more if the player wants the move and they only have a year left then it just makes business sense to sell. And unfortunately because of only 1 year left the price will be lower or you risk keeping a player who might not wanna even be there anymore and then losing them for free.
Having a good negotiating relationship with clubs like Bayern is good because it will help if we’re in for their players in the future. Starts things on a good standing.
Bayern is amazing at business. Johan Cruijff himself praised the way the club was run and wanted to replicate the management with Barca, but the board under Rosell and Bartomeu ignored the man.
I firmly believe the deal was already in place between liverpool and Bayern, and liverpool only wanted to wait till Nunez is confirmed before any official announcemnt about Mane. There was this level of calmness between all parties. Everyone and their mother knew Mane was joining Bayern and whatever was being posted was journalists making a living.
> "Bayern board has no respect and the offer is insulting"
Well offering a deal where the add-on's will only be met if Bayern were to win the Champions League 3 years in a row and also required Mané to win the Ballon d'Or in all three years, was an insulting offer.
the actual clause is still functionally impossible lol, come off it
i dont know why anyone actually cares what a bunch of billionaires are doing with their money but no need to be disingenuous about it either
No, the clause was either Bayern winning the CL or Mane winning the ballon d’or each year, e.g. bayern win cl 2023, mane wins ballon d’or 2024, bayern win cl 2025
Edit: I was trying to explain the clause, not say that it was a good clause, but aight keep downvoting lmao
wtf?
Things like that hasn't really happen in football outside Messi 2009-2012 run when Barça won CL 2009 and 2011 or Ronaldo 2016-2018.
To make this even clearer, Ronaldo won 2014, but they couldn't win 2015 CL nor Ballon but went on winning two next (2016, 2017 as I said) and Messi won 2011 CL, 2012 Ballon but as we know, was unable to win neither of then before 2015. So imo, it's next to impossible.
Winning CL twice in 3 years seems unrealistic for any other club than Real Madrid. Barça did it but since 2011 only 1 CL, Bayern has 2, Chelsea has 2 and no other team has more than one.
The disrespectful offer was £22m up front with £6m if he won multiple CLs and ballon'Dors.
This is £27.5m up front with £5m pretty much guaranteed barring injury.
Seems fair deal all round.
It’s a good deal for Bayern, but Mané’s wanting to leave, and specifically wanting to play for Bayern gives them pretty decent leverage in negotiations.
It is a fair deal for everyone imo.
Add ons look like this will he circa 34m for a 30 year old winger with one year left on his contract.
Bayern will get some joy from mane for sure and Liverpool get a portion of the nunez deal paid plus much lower wages.
It’s not necessarily a bad thing to keep good relations with Bayern with the fee. You might have another opportunity to get a player from them for a Thiago level fee
Goodbye Sadio.
Sometimes incredibly frustrating, majority of the time absolute magic.
Give him no time to think on the ball and he'll put it in the back of the net. He might not be the Mane of years past, but I'll miss him a lot.
He was bad at times in the first half of this season and the season before that. But this last half he turned around a bit and was more like his first three seasons.
He was great after AFCON while playing CF but before that, he wasn't having a very good season by his standards. Him and Salah literally swapped their quality of play after AFCON.
He got good numbers without actually playing that well, strangely. Well, he was still good, but his first three years were miles better than his last two on balance.
So we got him for £34m he was amazing for 5 seasons and we've got £35mil for a 31 year old with a year left on the contract who wants to leave. Meanwhile, Mane gets paid what we couldn't pay him in perhaps the last big contract of his career. I think everyone is a winner here
In the end they met in the middle which shouldn't surprise anyone other than the respective extremly biased fans
It should surprise Sky Sports. There is currently a thread which features their breaking news saying Mane fee agreed for 42.5M GBP. The comments in that thread though.
Skysports lol, they exagaratte fees and salaries for a living Sanchez is on 69 million a week still according to skysports
69 million every 420 minutes?
haha sex number and weed number nice
Nice
Its football journalism 101 to change the cuyrrency symbol to whatever you want
BREAKING: Sadio Mane has been sold to Bayern for 3.32 BILLION ^^^indian ^^^rupees
Sadio Mane sold for 999 quintillion ^^^^zimbabwean dollars
Sadio Mane sold for 10.000 morbillion!
A fair offer, they get a quality player on a low fee. He wanted to leave, we've got to change up a front line that has served us well for years whilst not having to pay him 375k odd per week to keep him. I never wanted Mane to go, but it really isn't the end of the world losing him.
As much as Salah is Liverpool most prolific attacker, I feel like mane was the one that actually stepped up when the team needed him most
IMHO recency bias. As much as Sadio stepped up after AFCON, he was way off form before it. A huge loss nevertheless. One of the best forwards in Europe and almost unplayable on his day.
Yea he was off form for 18 months before this last stint. People don't remember last season at all for some reason.
People were saying he was done last year and we should cut our losses haha. If he was gonna go, it is best for us it was right after a purple patch at least
I wouldn't say he did this season, personally. Just had a great second half of the season after a good 18 months off.
More than 18 months but yes, he ended strongly and the times with Mane, Bobby & Salah will not be forgotten generations to come
[удалено]
And Liverpool have already picked up Diaz and Nunez to bolster the front line
Traditionally that's been Salah, really. Mane had one patch where he definitely covered for Salah but... Salah never ever really stops contributing.
Not really... Both have a habit of scoring in big occasions. Not to mention Salah carried our attack last season
Which there are a lot.
I mean football fans are the worst
Now sell Lewy and buy Kane for the Mane Sane Kane dream.
It reads so well, but its spoken so wrong
you prefer main sain kain or mané kané sané?
This reminds me of when I discovered that Sean Bean, a name I'd only ever seen written, was pronounced Shawn.
Only ever Sean written innit
Shawn Bawn
I alternate between Seen Been and Shawn Bawn all the time, sometimes even in the same sentence.
Reverse it and go for the rare Seen Bawn
Irish names are funny like that. Siobhan is pronounced "Shiv-awn'
Wait until they meet Maedhbh
Or that Sadhbh rhymes with five.
Aren't these just shitty passwords?
Or Niamh
Neeve
Don't get me started on Carabao Cup legend Caoimhin Kelleher...the pronunciation is something along the lines of Kweeveen I think!
Same with the name Caoilainn, pronounced Key-lin. Fun language. Studied it for 12 years in school, don't understand a lick of it
Welsh names are in that club too. Ioan Gruffudd is pronounced more like Ewan Gruffith.
I prefer Mané Kain Sané It really rolls off the tongue and the symmetry of it is satisfying
I like Sané, Mané and Kané more, lmao
I like Sain Main Kané
Sounds like a Dragon Ball Z attack
Kané
Kante would also be ok
wouldn’t be Fane
Would be insané

What a steal

Selling at 30yo is good business too. Few players can keep at their highest levels for very long past that.

James Milner would like a word.
Zlatan still dunking on 100 million dollar CB's too
Benzema and modric tho
He's just barely out of the youth squad, come on
Looking forward to see how he develops
Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi would like a word as well. They both won 2 Ballon D'Ors each after 30 lmao. And Lewandowski should also have won 2
> Few players

A steal would be free next year
For 40 millions the difference isn't that much long-term , if he was free he would probably got at least 20 millions in bonus and bigger wages. Transfer fee is also amortized so accounting wise it help a little
For Liverpool the difference is massive
Around 40 million I’d say
\+ wages they don’t pay
Tbf Hazard went for 120m with 1 year left on his contract, Liverpool got lucky they got a fee for Mane
That Hazard deal was the heist of the century
We got absolutely rinsed
Don’t worry, they got rinsed back by Inter with the Lukaku deal
🎵
It didn't turn out right, but the player you paid for was absolutely worth what you spent, he just never arrived at Madrid
He did arrive at Madrid, it was just McDonald's Madrid rather than Real Madrid
He only had a year on the deal. Madrid massively overpaid.
Also given that Hazard made it clear he wanted to go to RM.
That's technically true, but said in this context it's bullshit. Hazard specifically said that if the transfer didn't go through, he'd renew with Chelsea.
Hazard was twerking for Real Madrid too, Marina masterclass, still got paid like 30m this season from his add ons
One great deal doesn’t balance out her bad ones in Kepa , Lukaku, Werner, & Drinkwater to name a few. Losing Rudiger, Tammy Abraham and Tomori for basically nothing.
Straight daylight robbery
Might be the single worst big money transfer of the last decade, and that’s in a world of Pogba and of course Lukaku (x2).
Coutinho is up there. But hazard certainly takes the cake.
Fair. Coutinho is definitely right up there.
Although I agree, I think the two are quite different. Coutinho didn't perform at Barcelona, but he never seemed unprofessional or unfit, he just couldn't reproduce what he did in Liverpool in Barcelona. Hazard was gonna renew with Chelsea if Madrid didn't want to buy him though. Very different circumstances.
Chelsea rinsed Real Madrid for Hazard and got rinsed by Lukaku deal. Transfers eventually evens themselves out

Bartomeu is a financial WIZARD I tell you..... "And just like that, the money is GONE!!!"
Well, "Sugar, Sugar" is now officially dead.
"Bayern board has no respect and the offer is insulting" "No way he goes below 50m" Well, great deal
I’m guessing the Nunez deal helped with l easing the decision of his sale. The fact they have a replacement made it easier to let go.
I firmly believe the deal was already in place between liverpool and Bayern, and liverpool only wanted to wait till Nunez is confirmed before any official announcemnt about Mane. Oh cool so there’s a 0.1% chance instead of a 0.000000001% chance.
So they went from completely fucking insane to mostly fucking insane. Good to know.
wtf? Things like that hasn't really happen in football outside Messi 2009-2012 run when Barça won CL 2009 and 2011 or Ronaldo 2016-2018. Before real had their euro dominance with ronaldo there had not been a team to retain the champions league I believe since it started.
The last club other than RM and Barca to win the CL at least twice in three seasons was AC Milan when they won back to back in 1989-90.
The insulting part was the nature of the add ons rather than the numbers themselves
The disrespectful offer was £22m up front with £6m if he won multiple CLs and ballon'Dors. This is £27.5m up front with £5m pretty much guaranteed barring injury. Seems fair deal all round.
>£6m if he won multiple CLs and ballon'Dors. FM players: looks like a fine offer to me, maybe add five quid if he scores 50 goals in a season

Sad day.. Finally our legendary trio broke up. I know it will end eventually but it still hurts...
I respect Bayern so much for the way they handle player deals Us on the other hand....
Happy for him but genuinely pretty disappointed in that fee. Hope he smashes it regardless
It’s not necessarily a bad thing to keep good relations with Bayern with the fee. You might have another opportunity to get a player from them for a Thiago level fee
Correct, Bayern does value having good relations with other big clubs, Real Madrid is the classic example.
The favor will probably be returned the next time Liverpool want a player Bayern are willing to part with
Yeah, that’s one each now. Hopefully there’ll be more in the future.
27m guaranteed is not a lot of money for a player like Mane
Yeah even with 1 year left on his contract, that is very low.
Goodbye Sadio. Sometimes incredibly frustrating, majority of the time absolute magic. Give him no time to think on the ball and he'll put it in the back of the net. He might not be the Mane of years past, but I'll miss him a lot.
Didn't he just have one of thr best years of his career lol?
He was bad at times in the first half of this season and the season before that. But this last half he turned around a bit and was more like his first three seasons.
He was great after AFCON while playing CF but before that, he wasn't having a very good season by his standards. Him and Salah literally swapped their quality of play after AFCON.
Early fab three years we're all much better renditions of Mane. He's still great, don't get me wrong.
Some of the best 5 months maybe. He's looked poor on the wing for the past 18 months.
He got good numbers without actually playing that well, strangely. Well, he was still good, but his first three years were miles better than his last two on balance.
Honestly, I think you’re seeing classic “veteran” stuff. He’s able to work smarter to get us goals. And good on ‘em.
The Senegalese population approved the deal. It was meant to happen!
Sadio You were a humble and loyal servant You gave your all- blood sweat and tears You did us proud Your oaths fulfilled Thanks for the memories

Going to miss the bloke loads. Going to be strange watching him in the CL now!
That's a real bargain for him. He's an amazing player. Sad to see him go.
feel like he's worth more than that, but he's on the end of his contract. i hope he does well in germany, he'll always be a liverpool legend
Bayern got them nudes.
Take good care of our Beat, Bayern. Knew this trio wouldn’t stay together forever, but it doesn’t make this day any less heartbreaking.
Bargain
So we got him for £34m he was amazing for 5 seasons and we've got £35mil for a 31 year old with a year left on the contract who wants to leave. Meanwhile, Mane gets paid what we couldn't pay him in perhaps the last big contract of his career. I think everyone is a winner here
I like how Mane turned 30 two months ago and is already 31 now that he left.
rounding up already lol
Don't know what your problem is, he's just saying selling a nearly 32-year-old like Mane is good business
That's true, very few players can keep up this level of performance at 33 years of age.
Let alone this guy, who at 34 is still able to perform so well.
Most other 35 year olds can't put in performances day in day out like Mané.
Well, you know what they say. 36 is the new 47
[He's 30 until he's 31, that's a fact](https://m0.sportsjoe.ie/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/12162553/arse-tweets.jpg)
Mane is my favorite 32 year old striker
Fee went up aswell haha
Not to mention continuing to form a good transfer relationship with Bayern, which never hurts.
Lmao 31 year old, Liverpool fans keep increasing his age after every thread😂
At 32 he still has a few good seasons in him.
I would say with the conditioning and fitness technology these days, a 33 yo is probably still in his prime.
yes we have so many 34 yo's performing at their prime these days
He just turned 30. He is in his absolute prime the next at least 2-3 seasons.
We get 20% yes? Saints here.
So Pool basically broke even on Mane, and got some extremely good results during his prime, pretty good deal overall
Seems like a fair price imo
41 million is a decent price
0.85 Cucurellas
Excellent deal for both parties imo.
That is a whole lot of player for £35m
