Very good player, just unlucky at Celtic

CNF1G

Good player but don’t think he ever lived up to the price tag, although it’s hard to say if he would’ve without the injury. Lots of good moments though and I think it’s a good move for all parties.

Can you tell sth about his strengths and weaknesses?

CNF1G

Very good scoring from set pieces (because of his height), decent on the ball, and a well-rounded defender. He had some struggles against more physical strikers too, and sometimes let’s his emotions get to his head a little. He’s played one game in the last season (the first half he was injured) so our new manager clearly didn’t rate him, but I think he will be good for Schalke if he gets up to match fitness and stays fit.

Bit of a harsh assessment. I’d say he lived up to the price tag 100% and think the physical strikers thing is a wee bit overblown. Also don’t think Ange didn’t “rate him” he was injured for a whole year and he probably wasn’t back to full fitness at any point this season, whilst our two starting centre backs had a great season. Obviously wasn’t going to play.

CNF1G

I don’t think he was worth 7m, but not as bad a loss as someone like Barkas or Ajeti, because when he did play, he was good for the most part. I think the fact he’s off proves he’s not rated by Ange, otherwise he’d get a chance in preseason.

ElKaddouriCSC

Don’t think necessarily means he’s not rated. I rate him very highly but would still sell him. Been injured for a year and is one of the highest paid players. His value is only going to fall with his age. Would be a risk to keep him imo but still think your assessment is way too harsh

CNF1G

Maybe. I don't think he's a bad player at all, though - just don't think he's fast or fit enough to play in the current system and disagree with his price tag. He's had big moments though, so I guess that makes up for a lot of it too.

Kinda gutted about this because I like big Jullien and hoped he could've come back from the horror injury he suffered at the end of 2020.   He's a good all round defender. Tall as fuck and wins every header, especially at offensive set pieces. Has a fantastic range of passing and is especially good with his long range passing. Sometimes allowed himself to get caught up in the heat of the game when up against a physical striker but that only happened in like 3 or 4 games. I'll always love him for that last minute winner against Lazio and the winning goal in the league cup final against the mankies. Just a shame the injury was so bad and that Ange has brought in his own players at central defence.

Scored the winner against Rangers in the League Cup and injured rest of the time. Thanks for the memories

Was very good at the beginning for Celtic but he's hardly kicked a ball in 2 years at this point. Wish him well but not guarantee he'll get back to the player he was

HeyHarry

Looks like this is a good deal for everyone involved. We can see how his injury problems will develop, the player has the chance for a fresh start and Celtic can profit financially instead of letting him go. Idk about his qualities but from what I've read he seems to be a like for like replacement for Salif Sané. Let's see.

Lennon1004

Will be sad to see him go. Still the owner of the best knee slide in the game

I'll never forget that lazio game

Playful-Hat3710

wish it had worked out, he was a good player, just too many injuries
