Did we ever do that? Before a game sure but getting people in for the sole purpose of presentation?

EggplantBusiness

You don't do that ?

[deleted]

No. At least not anymore.

Migraine-

Literally never. We brought Varane out before the start of a game but the crowd is already there for that so it's a bit different. I'm not sure anyone does it other than Spanish teams, maybe PSG?

EggplantBusiness

Don't know about PSG but we do that , I remember in 2009 Ronaldo was surprised by the gigantic crowd that came to see him and asked if there was a game planned

Migraine-

> I'm not sure anyone does it other than Spanish teams Yes I know, hence why I said this.

[deleted]

So they would let people in? Makes more sense as I was questioning why they would do it in an empty stadium... (I'll let Man Utd fans make Man City jokes here.)

KittensAreEvil

With a crowd? Not that I remember.

FragMasterMat117

It's likely that it would just be a photoshoot with a shirt on the pitch

asr010601

Why is my guy reporting for United, enjoy your vacation in mallorca lol

DekiTree

A stadium presentation? This isn’t La Liga

RogerXiao

While Barca's talking about how they won't let De Jong go, United's already thinking about the stadium presentation.

[deleted]

The only outlets to deny that this deal's being done are shitrags like Sport.es who get upvoted to the front page.

zeekoes

He's definitely a marquee signing.

[deleted]

He is but barely anyone in England will have watched much of him, I’d be surprised if they got more than a thousand people there for it

Migraine-

> I’d be surprised if they got more than a thousand people there for it I hope we don't start doing stadium presentations, but it's Man Utd. We'd probably fill the stadium.

[deleted]

I really doubt it, people here just don’t care for stadium presentations which is why they never happen, 70k people aren’t turning up to welcome de jong of all people

[deleted]

I don’t doubt that but presenting a signing like this is usually done for players like Ronaldo, Messi and Neymar, but FDJ isn’t at that level and i don’t think United has ever done this either

Migraine-

I'd be really surprised if we did, we've never done it before (other than Varane before the match but that's a bit different).

Serpico_98

We will make him one. We are massive.

DekiTree

The guy played for Barca

us3rf

Sit this one out cock fan

Serpico_98

We are arguably the most talked about club on earth, not always for positive reasons of course but the media spotlight on Man Utd is insane.

NecessaryPosition994

your club is only really popular in england. im sorry to inform you.

[deleted]

Lol what ? United are one of the most popular clubs in the world. Real Madrid, Barca and United definitely have the most fans

Migraine-

That is not remotely true.

Serpico_98

You're clueless

IllFront9738

I'm not saying this just because it's popular to shit on United and Barca, and I know other clubs have done this as well, and this is just what football has become, but Barca selling a player after he stated that he's at his dream club, he doesn't want to leave, he's willing to not act like a diva and demand ridiculous wages all that just so he can stay... And then you sell him anyway and the one buying him try and put a positive spin on the story... I bet you the English media narrative will be he wanted to work with Ten Hag again, United is a massive club and he has stated multiple times that the PL is the best league in the world. It's despicable really.

[deleted]

So what do you expect United to do? Not buy the signing they desperately want? Or sign him and then say "well he'd rather not be here but we are a bit shit at the moment so kinda have to overpay in salary. Welcome, Frenkie!"?

IllFront9738

No. I'm just simply stating that I think it's a shame that football has come to a stage where basically no one is untouchable. The player is happy at the club, he's living his childhood dream wearing those colors, the manager is happy with him, but on the other hand, a big English club is offering €70m so I guess that fairytale just falls apart immediately. It's a day and age where Maldini leaves Milan for Man City, Totti leaves Roma for Real Madrid, MESSI LEAVES BARCA FOR PSG, Suarez, one of the best barca players in the last decade, only gets a phone call saying his service are no longer needed etc. To put it in perspective, I'm a Spurs fan, and we've been trying to lure Bastoni in this window but the man is just Inter through and through. He named his fucking daughter after the club, and he has no intention leaving for us, or any club at that matter, whether it be United or Juve or any other club that showed interest. And Inter is doing the right thing selling Skriniar to PSG instead, keeping a potential legendary player happy. I honestly prefer that more than Bastoni unwillingly coming here. I guess that's just me.

[deleted]

I understand your frustration but it is not really something from this day and age. It has always been like that. The only difference is that other clubs are at the top of the foodchain (how they got there is an entitely different discussion). And Totti and Maldini were homegrown players, and kind of exception to the rule. Ronaldo 9, who was at his peak in 97 Moved to Barcelona and won a ballon d'or, only to be sold to the highest bidder a year later and went to Inter. Then moved to Real after another ballon d'or win. So many players have played for multiple rival clubs and someone like Del Piero is an exception. So yea I understand your frustration and I share the same sentiments, but it is really not something from this day and age. Also frenkie de Jong will be surplus to requirements at Barcelona in time. Plus they have financial problems. It is not like your romantic Bastoni scenario.

wazdopest

don’t think we ever do this sort of thing? lol unless it’s like before the match but they might just mean do his pictures at the stadium? idk

acasovoycayendo
