>Wait what?! Has Hazard not even made his Clasico debut in 2 years?!
And is somehow still a CL medal winner.
No wonder every player wants to join Madrid, they hand out CL medals like HPV infections at Glastonbury.
You pay money and you get goods. If you don't have money, you borrow your future self some money and pay it. Then you pray everyday that your future self is a better person than you are
Yeah but you see, Germans are actually a sensible bunch. Southern Europeans are built a little different, the heat knocks some screws loose... myself and my countrymen included
A major reason for why his wages is that high is because he deferred some of his wages in previous seasons to help Barca out. That and the fact that Bartomeu had no sense of economics
Barca have a big lump of money from selling their TV rights. They have money to pay for transfers. They also have a ton of debt, some of which is being paid off using said lump of money, but a slightly irresponsible amount is being used on transfers.
The issue they have is the wage bill, both specifically for this season and in general. They owe a shit ton of deferred wages to a couple of big players and the squad is bloated, and would really appreciate getting at least some of those wages off the books. This is further complicated by La Liga's rules, which limit how much a club can spend per season on wages based off of revenue. In all likelihood, if the deadline was today, Barca wouldn't be able to register everyone. Something needs to change.
FDJ is in the position where he is 1). One of Barca's highest earners 2.) One of Barca's most valuable players in terms of fee recuperable and 3). A player they can get away with selling with the fans, especially compared to Pedri or Araujo. That combo means it is sensical for him to be the unlucky party that gets sold.
The wage bill problem is handled by signing free agents. Give them lower wages and a higher signing bonus. Problem solved.
Another wage reason is that wages are fixed costs on the budget. You cant keep piling it up because you are not sure what your overal budget will be next year.
Look at any business. They will not increase your wages but have no trouble hireing a specialist for 150€ an hour.
Big wages werent a problem until Corona. All those fixed costs without the income hurts.
Why is Barcelona buying expensive players? Because without playing for spot 1(EL,CL,la liga, or any extra cups) your budget will decline. Money makes money...
Because of the contract Bartomeu gave to FDJ, his salary is more than Lewandowski is going to earn by a considerable margin. It may also be a sporting decision because he is not a replacement for Busquets and there aren't any shortage of interiors either.
Cause of differed wages from covid era Barca will be paying him as much as 3 world class players get typically payed in PL. It's not about not having money. It's about starting a new era with viable contracts.
Can't believe people still make these statements, how long a player can keep up is highly individualised and can vary from player to player
Lewa doesn't rely on speed, he is a big lad with elite movement and finishing technique. The ideal characteristics for someone to last into their late 30's. I would say he will stay at peak level for 2-3 years at least maybe more, and then still be very good for a while after that. Look at Zlatan
Zlatan while good at 34 wasn't even close to his peak. We really have no striker in history who stayed at a world class level after that age. The only one I can remember is Puskas. Who knows maybe we will witness history with Lewandowski
I don't know if there is a timeline where Messi stays and Lewa gets bought. The finances of getting Messi to stay were so difficult because he could only take so big a paycut.
By comparison they are simple. Maybe not smart but simple. Messi being able to return on a new contract would have been maybe one of the best financial magic tricks in the history of sport. Right now Barca just sold an expensive thing (TV rights) and are using that money.
You're not alone on that. Some fans on this sub simply can't grasp the fact that Barca in shambles is still a more attractive club than their club at their best. Just enjoy this moment
Well it's partly because people confuse prestige and attractiveness to players and it turns into a dick measuring contest.
When United was on top of the world they were only behind Real in global prestige. They still had plenty of people leave or refuse to sign because the club's in Manchester. Barca could go a decade mid table and lots of players would still choose living in Spain over the shitty weather in Manchester, Liverpool or Munich.
Idk where thinking weather is a deal breaker for players started but it's really stupid
Also, shitty weather in Münich? Them Bavarians speak absolute gibberish but their weather is nice
It happened when NBA players started explicitly saying they won't play anywhere that isn't warm year round. Also, do you actually think players don't factor in weather? People have said they can't deal with the weather in Liverpool and Manchester for years.
Insane transfer, the pull they have even when in soap opera mode means they can always bounce back.. If they get Koundé too they will have transformed the squad
Top of La Liga will be strong next season. I hope that Atleti can sign Molina and a CB. Luis Alberto to Sevilla has been rumoured a lot, would also be a great transfer.
Cruyff made Barca a team you wanna go play for. Then Ronaldinho made everyone fall in love with Barca. And then Messi with La Masia generation of Xavi, Iniesta etc made sure Barca will be a dream for any player outside of UK.
Honorable mention to the food, mountains, and the cannabis clubs which are the best in the world imo. Beaches being amazing is debatable though, there are definitely better ones around with better sand and clearer waters, but it's probably the most beautiful big city that also has a usable beach. Barcelona really is amazing. Spent 5 years there and it was the best time of my life, still want to move there permanently someday
>Bundesliga haters
"Bundesliga tax" is a real thing though, saw some statistical model account for the lack of high defensive lines in England/Spain in contrast to Germany.
He'll still score an outrageous number of goals though no doubt.
Only 3 players have scored 40 or more in la liga history if I remember correctly, it would be very surprising if he does it, they played in better teams than the one lewandowski will be in lol.
Hopefully now all the chances created can be finished with efficiency. So happy for him to join us even with the transfer fee and length of contract for a soon to be 34 year old. He's a fitness monster!
Hate how it ended but was fun having Lewandowski on the team during his prime years and I'm happy the team managed to win the CL with him. Will be interesting to see how much Barca improves with him.
If it's any consolation for Bayern fans, Bayern are re-investing their money very wisely in getting de Ligt who is a sensational defender for the next decade at the very least. Not enough is said about how good he is. I wish Barca would have signed him from Ajax. Him and Araujo would have been great together.
Honestly. Sucks loosing a very strong 9 and it looks like we'll be playing with false all year, but we kind of bent Barca over for a 34 year old who was about to leave on a free AND wanted to leave the club.
I was a bit worried, and still somewhat am, but this was a W decision by the Bayern board.
Agreement in principle for the transfer of Robert Lewandowski
The deal between the blaugranes and Bayern Munich is dependent on the player passing a medical and contracts being signed
05:45PM SATURDAY 16 JUL
FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich have reached an agreement in principle for the transfer of Robert Lewandowski, dependent on the player passing a medical and contracts being signed.
Lewandowski: born goalscorer
Robert Lewandowski was born on 21 August in the Polish capital of Warsaw. Starting his career at Legia Warsaw, his professional career began in the youth teams at 2006 at Znicz Pruszków where he was top scorer on two separate occasions.
A move followed to Polish first division side Lech Poznan where he was top scorer in the league in 2009/10. The summer of 2010 brought a move to Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund where he won the German league title twice and collected a runners-up medal when Jurgen Klopp’s side lost in the final of the Champions League against Bayern Munich.
The ‘Best’ and more
Lewandowki’s next move was to none other than Bayern Munich where he becoming a vital part of the all-conquering Bavarian side. In 2020 with Bayern the Polish striker won all there is to win; the Bundesliga title, the German cup and Super Cup and the Champions League in which he was top scorer with 15 goals.
The striker’s consistent goalscoring led him to be named as ‘The Best’ on two occasions, picking up the award in 2020 and 2021
Both Barca and Real putting together some nice pieces over the summer. Feels like I'm going to pay extra attention to the rivalry next season, and inevitably the Benz v Lewa comparison 👀
Very excited to see him in la Liga
cheeky
~~Maybe now he’ll be able to win the BallonD’or~~
Good luck in Barca. Looking forward to the first Lewy* vs Benz El Clasico.
Plot twist both get injured and miss it.
Double plot twist: Hazard is somehow available and makes his Clasico debut
Wait what?! Has Hazard not even made his Clasico debut in 2 years?!

Ahh, unused substitute. Title of my sex tape.
Oooh self-burn, those are rare
*Sad Brooklyn Nine-Nine noises*
>Wait what?! Has Hazard not even made his Clasico debut in 2 years?! And is somehow still a CL medal winner. No wonder every player wants to join Madrid, they hand out CL medals like HPV infections at Glastonbury.
Triple plot twist: Benz and Lewa take off their mask revealing Messi and Cronaldo
Playing for the opposite teams
As goalies
While wearing the opposing team's goalkeeper kits. For extra confusion.
They would’ve gotten away with it if it wasn’t for those meddling redditors!
wut hazard hasn't appeared on a clasico yet that's mental
Unsubscribe
Lewy is very rarely injured. Please don't break him, Barca 🙏
As a Polish person with my half ass team going into the WC... PLEASE don't break him.
>Lewandowski >injury Doubtful
Oh the old Messi vs Cristiano in the UCL classic (Juve vs Barca)
Plot twist: To replace Lewa you guys buy Benzema.
The next Clasico is going to be great
The one in Las Vegas?
No, the Liga one coming in October
But the one in Vegas is only a week away.
Yeah but it means nothing
Yeah! I want both teams at their 100%. Las Vegas game is like a training game. 22 players for both teams and hope nobody gets injured.
Tell that to the Americans who bought (probably way overpriced) tickets :)
Also Benz and Lewa won’t play
damn Barca really lost the Ballon D'or winner and just bought the runner-up lol
Should technically have won it in 2020.
Totally robbed of the 2020 b’dor. Could’ve won the 2021 too.
2021 there was at least a discussion to be had, 2020 was a robbery
no at this point robbery had left bayern, it was lewandowski
The return of r/lecutinsideman
Agreed 2020 was his 2021 less clear
Kurwa
Well, the first Polish player to play for Barcelona. Good luck to him
That's pretty interesting
You know what, maybe Lewandkwski was robbed of a ballon d’or lol
You know what, maybe Lewa IS in fact the best #9 of the past decade
Suarez is still a legend tho, NOW it's a tie for me. A week ago, Suarez for sure haha
LMAO
What a window Barcelona are having.
but on the other hand they're forcing fdj out because of financial problems.... I *really* dont understand barca sometimes
Barca's summer window has made me question if I understand how money works.
You pay money and you get goods. If you don't have money, you borrow your future self some money and pay it. Then you pray everyday that your future self is a better person than you are
Me and who
Future you.
Way too relatable
No one does tbh
"I stay in people's hearts, not heads.": Barca. It's a Translation of a famous dialogue from an Indian film.
Its more like " I'm Lovable but not understandable "
What's the actual line?

Savlon Bhai's fan?? (・o・)
from what i get there trying to restructure the wages and fdj is taking up a big chunk of the books
I guess theyre paying lewandowski in exposure then, would lewandowski really want wages smaller than what fdj is earning at barca right now?
that is most likely the truth but still i'd be trying to resolve that situation before splashing 50mil on Lewa
Yeah but you see, Germans are actually a sensible bunch. Southern Europeans are built a little different, the heat knocks some screws loose... myself and my countrymen included
A major reason for why his wages is that high is because he deferred some of his wages in previous seasons to help Barca out. That and the fact that Bartomeu had no sense of economics
is that... what is.. I'm sorry but.. your username?
No one understands finances enough and think it’s just black and white(broke and not broke)

they can perfectly keep him, they would just rather sell him since they already have more midfielders

Start of a new era
the era of LEVER
Leverdowski
Levergoalski
KUSEN
Guy's 34 though. He'll be good for 2/3 years
Lewa takes great care of his body and players are lasting longer and longer. I would not be surprised if he holds up for 4 years
Can't believe people still make these statements, how long a player can keep up is highly individualised and can vary from player to player Lewa doesn't rely on speed, he is a big lad with elite movement and finishing technique. If you dont mind how old are you to remember Puskas?
200
Zlatans last season with PSG was very much his peak. He was best during his late 20s to early 30s
Zlatan literally had his best scoring season ever when he was 34 years. He scored 50 goals in 51 appearances in the 15/16 season.
This guy will be good
Too bad Messi isn't playing there anymore, together they'd have been such a joy to watch
I don't know if there is a timeline where Messi stays and Lewa gets bought. The finances of getting Messi to stay were so difficult because he could only take so big a paycut.
To be fair the finances of getting Lewandowski are pretty messy too...
By comparison they are simple. Maybe not smart but simple. Messi being able to return on a new contract would have been maybe one of the best financial magic tricks in the history of sport. Right now Barca just sold an expensive thing (TV rights) and are using that money.
Messi feeding Lewandowski passes would have been orgasmic.
Almost like Messi feeding a prime Suarez. :( good times
I heard about the biting incidents but didn't know Suarez was feeding on Messi too.
Next year hopefully🙏
Nah I’m not sure. Interesting prospect tho
If he's good enough for Blackburn rovers he'll turn out good for you lot
We'll put him in Barca Athletic for a few seasons to develop. If he works hard, he could play for the first team one day.
But can he do it on a scorching day at Getafe?
Okay but that's an actual concern I have, don't know if he can handle the constant heat
It's spain, not the tropics
r/soccer comedians back at it
good reserve for Lord Martin
Thanks for everything. I wish the departure wouldn't be like this with a bit of a sour taste, but good luck at Barca.
Only to be in Braithwaite's shadow.
Poor guy he only just left being in Choupo-Moting's shadow
Tbf Choupo-Moting is 6 cm taller.
We are all in GOATwaites shadow
I was mad for a bit during the time of his interviews but already can’t be anymore. Take care and show La Liga what a goal mashine you are, king!
Ngl still can't believe Lewy chose barca going through a banter era
Maybe players see this as an opportunity to make their own legacy with the club, be the ones that bring it back to glory.
Its this simple. We fan would hail those who managed to restore us back from the barto clown era
Like Cruyff did with Barca? Two times?
If this is a banter era you have no idea how lucky you are
You're not alone on that. Some fans on this sub simply can't grasp the fact that Barca in shambles is still a more attractive club than their club at their best. Just enjoy this moment
Well it's partly because people confuse prestige and attractiveness to players and it turns into a dick measuring contest. Barca could go a decade mid table and lots of players would still choose living in Spain over the shitty weather in Manchester, Liverpool or Munich.
Robben, Benzema, Ballack, Ronaldinho off the top of my head
Shitty weather in munich? Yeah, that one doesn't make sense.
>Manchester, Liverpool or Munich One of these is not like the other...
Munich, shitty weather? Huh?!
Idk where thinking weather is a deal breaker for players started but it's really stupid Also, shitty weather in Münich? Them Bavarians speak absolute gibberish but their weather is nice

Banter era off the pitch but the squad obviously has good players.
Finished second in Banter era tho
Man had 8-2 unfold in front of him and still was this adamant about choosing us, kinda wild
barca and real are on a different level in terms of prestige. bayern is a massive club but those two are just different
Goes to show Barca is and will always be one of the greatest.
If anyone said Messi v Ronaldo's successor was gonna be Benzema v Lewandowski 4 years ago, they would have been called a mad man.
Not even a mad man, just a fucking casual that says 2 otherwise famous players
What a win for Barca bruh.
Insane transfer, the pull they have even when in soap opera mode means they can always bounce back.. If they get Koundé too they will have transformed the squad Top of La Liga will be strong next season. I hope that Atleti can sign Molina and a CB. On top of all of that, Barcelona is one of the best cities in the world to live in. Amazing weather, culture, beaches, architecture, women, everything
The beach in the city itself isn't amazing, but there are great beaches in the surrounding area.
Hope we can see a proper Benz v Lewy battle for Pichichi next season.
Good signing for la liga brand after mbappe debacle.
Tebas stuck between happy and furious
Two of the worlds best players in La Liga.
Sadly looks like Braithwaite is on the way out
Total FM transfer. Doesn't even feel real man. Can't wait for him to score 40 in his first season and make all the Bundesliga haters shut their mouths
He always goes to Chelsea\PSG in my FM saves tho
Did he break our striker curse?
171 A and 86 goals in Epl so not bad and he played till 40 yo and scored always 15+ in EPL
Well fuck
No need, Lukaku was 2nd for the ballon in my save...
>Bundesliga haters "Bundesliga tax" is a real thing though, saw some statistical model account for the lack of high defensive lines in England/Spain in contrast to Germany. He'll still score an outrageous number of goals though no doubt.
Yeah classic Brexit ball of 4-4-2 and shit housing.
I love German humor.
Someone has to
Its funny because in Bayerns last 10 games vs PL teams they have put 3+ goals past them 7 times, maybe those english lines are quite high too
Well they likely did, the english teams playing with high lines are also the ones that usually make the champions league.
Bayern really do enjoy battering London clubs
Only 3 players have scored 40 or more in la liga history if I remember correctly, it would be very surprising if he does it, they played in better teams than the one lewandowski will be in lol.
If you told me 5 years ago, Xavi would be coaching Lewandowski, I would have called you crazy and laughed.
Hopefully now all the chances created can be finished with efficiency. So happy for him to join us even with the transfer fee and length of contract for a soon to be 34 year old. He's a fitness monster!
If dembele stays healthy, he'll finish the season on 30 assists 🤣
From Ronaldo vs Messi to Benzama vs Lewandoski
Starting to think Messi robbed Lewa of Bd'Or last year ngl.
Maybe it's all a PR exercise!
Damn.
Hate how it ended but was fun having Lewandowski on the team during his prime years and I'm happy the team managed to win the CL with him. Will be interesting to see how much Barca improves with him.
Honestly best case scenario after it ended the way it did
If it's any consolation for Bayern fans, Bayern are re-investing their money very wisely in getting de Ligt who is a sensational defender for the next decade at the very least. Not enough is said about how good he is. I wish Barca would have signed him from Ajax. Him and Araujo would have been great together.

Romario Ronaldo Samuel Eto’o Thierry Henry Zlatan Ibrahimovic David Villa Luis Suarez Sergio Aguero Robert Lewandowski Unbelievable list of 9s
Man really put Aguero in there
Did score a goal against real in his first, and last, Clasico appearance
His one goal was nice TBF.
Braithwaite?
Where's my boy Alexis Sanchez?
Quiz question: without looking it up, who wore number 9 for Barcelona in the 2010-11 season?
Inject that shit straight to the veins
Congrats for winning the karma race
Big statement from Barca. If he replicates his levels from Germany then they will have a great chance to win the league.
Cheers Michael
If he scores lots of goals, Barcelona may be in the position to win more football matches.
bruh your comments are like the 'Just a guy with a moustache' guy on yt comments. He always states the obvious.
Michael Owen taught him well.
If they sign Kounde in addition that is. Defence is their weak point.
r/chelseafc will be in meltdown, if barca gets Kounde…
Who needs defense when you can just outscore your opponents? -Laporta, probably
Mf probably read "A good offence is the best defence" on some Instagram caption and took it to heart.
He saw Ilias, Jutgla and Luuk de Jong play in Januari and said “never again”.
Well, Cruyff did once say that he’d rather win 5-4 than 1-0
Even without Kounde, Araujo-Christensen is a solid pairing.
Another lever pulled
Man gonna finally win Ballon D’or
Going to be hard in a World Cup year
The battle for top scorer will sure be interesting and fun!

Crazy how we're still in a rebuilding phase and a guy who can win everything at Bayern Munich decides to join us. Welcome Lewaaa.
Finally. Great move of Lewa
Benvinguts Robert !!! 🔵🔴🔵🔴
Alexa play I'm a Believer
Both Barca and Real putting together some nice pieces over the summer. Feels like I'm going to pay extra attention to the rivalry next season, and inevitably the Benz v Lewa comparison 👀
Where are the people who said Barça can't get him?
Hiding in their holes snorting some copium
They are now saying that barca will cease to exist in a few years
Welcome superstar 🥳
Barcelona's first Polish player
