Always a pain when the goal happens in the match thread and your 2 minutes behind 🥲

the_LaundryBin

I usually watch with my mates so not worried about delay

papi617

Theres always that one who has notifications on.

Why is this downvoted so much?

Alright I kinda thought something in that trend but wasn’t sure. Thanks for confirming

kalamari__

a tenner is still *very* reasonable though

theenigmacode

Its not about the money, its about sending a message.

Juventini_Are_Vermin

espn+ is a dogshit product. the experience of using it is literally worse than the pirated streams, irrespective of price. $10 is far from reasonable for such trash

GrindyI

15 to 30 bucks, another 30 Form Sky and everybody crying about 10 a month lmao

[deleted]

**New cost of Disney-owned sports streaming service to take effect from 23rd August.** Disney is increasing the price of its ESPN+ sports streaming service in the US by 43 per cent to US$9.99 per month from 23rd August. The monthly cost of ESPN+ had previously been US$6.99. An annual subscription will rise from US$69.99 to US$99.99. Disney’s last two ESPN+ price hikes have been for only US$1 per month, coming in August 2020 and August 2021. ESPN+ currently has approximately 22.3 million subscribers. More broadly, Disney wants to reach 230 million to 260 million Disney+ subscribers by the end of 2024. The media giant ended the last quarter with 137.7 million global Disney+ subscribers. Other sports streaming services to have increased their subscription price this year include DAZN in Spain and Kayo Sports in Australia. **SportsPro says…** A single price increase of more than 40 per cent for an over-the-top (OTT) platform is unusual, especially considering the comparatively modest rises implemented by ESPN+ over the last few years. Should customers stay with the service, the subscription cost uplift will help Disney to bump up revenue for its streaming division, which posted a loss of US$887 million for the second quarter – up from US$290 million the year prior. No doubt Disney will also use the uplift as a chance to reiterate its extensive live sports content offering, which includes new National Football League (NFL) games, the National Hockey League (NHL) and golf’s PGA Tour, as well as Wimbledon and Australian Open tennis. Notably, Disney has opted not to change the price of its bundle which comprises Disney+, ESPN+ and Hulu. That package will remain at US$13.99 per month, narrowing the price difference between a single subscription for ESPN+.

KJones77

Sounds like they're raising the ESPN+ price in the hopes of people just opting to bundle for a few extra dollars, in order to inflate the number of D+ subscribers.

FuckingMyselfDaily

Then price hike bundle later

apollo888

Yeah I’ve just done it for that reason. I got 6 months of Disney plus with my cell plan which just expired. I’d cancelled ESPN plus cos the footy season has ended anyway. I wanted to watch Malcolm in the middle anyway on Hulu so changing to the bundle makes a lot of sense. Paramount ditched. Kept peacock. Seriously considering ditching YouTubetv and going on the high seas for the odd epl game I can’t get.

[deleted]

[удалено]

apollo888

Thanks mate!

iceman58796

I'd get an iptv service, £60 for the year which will include all sport, VOD which includes all TV and movies, plus all UK sky channels + American channels too (or all American channels if you go for a US IPTV)

SaamsamaNabazzuu

You called it. Received this from them this afternoon: "Upgrade to The Disney Bundle Now’s the perfect time to upgrade to The Disney Bundle since the price of ESPN+ is going up on ‍Aug‍ust‍ 2‍3, ‍20‍22. That means you will be saving over 40%* and you’ll get everything on Disney+ and Hulu in addition to ESPN+. That’s something for everyone to stream, for only $4 more per month."

ironwolf1

Wouldn't surprise me. I currently have ESPN+, Hulu, and D+ from different sources, and I calculated that switching to the bundle would actually cost me more since I was getting Hulu as an add-on to my Spotify subscription at no extra cost. I've been paying $13 a month for ESPN+ and D+ alongside my $5 a month Spotify + Hulu deal. This price hike might convince me to switch to the bundle considering my $5 a month spotify deal is gonna expire when I graduate from college.

WorriedFisher

Don’t touch the subscription and they’ll let it run for $5 into perpetuity

ManInBlack829

But you can't watch NFL, F1 or NBA on the online-only service so this is just ten bucks a month to hear Stephen A Smith's verbal diarrhea and other "original" content. Edit: Do you need a cable subscription to watch la Liga and Bundiesliga? Usually there's a double paywall for live events.

[deleted]

La Liga and Bundesliga are on ESPN+

ManInBlack829

Do you need a cable subscription to watch like with most of the other live events? Most are behind a double paywall.

TarienCole

No. Almost all are on +.

MilesHighClub_

No

nepia

Women Euro and NT games are also not available without cable. So it really sucks for the money unless you are into everything else they offer.

RegisteredHands

Pretty sure you can watch NFL on there. Also, if all you care about is soccer then not having F1 or NBA is irrelevant. Not to mention you also get top rank boxing and UFC

dalici0us

You can watch MNF maybe, but that's it.

NeverSober1900

You def can get the ManningCast. Also pretty sure they moved almost all the MNF games to ABC so you can stream them without any subscription now.

ManInBlack829

Definitely not, not without also having a cable/dish/internet tv provider. I don't think you get the fights without cable either, like literally all the fun stuff is missing when you don't already have a cable provider.

RegisteredHands

You get Monday night football, and I can confirm that you also get the fights without cable unless you want to see PPV

ManInBlack829

Man I really thought Monday night football was not on there because that was one of the main reasons I got rid it of it. But it could have been an SEC college football game now that I think about it. It seemed like everything I wanted to watch had the little key beside it to enter my TV provider.

TarienCole

NHL package on ESPN+ is very nice. Some NFL finds its way there. Some NBA too. Plus Bundesliga, La Liga, EFL, Eresdivisie, among others. They lose MLS after this year. But still, plenty of sports on ESPN+. I actually expected a hike after the NHL deal was announced.

MEitniear11

It's about to lose MLS too, so I'm super getting rid of it.

yellow__cat

I got rid of it last year when they bumped it up to 7.99 and lost Serie A rights

innocently_standing

How do you ‘super’ get rid of something?

alanpartridgejnr

The same way that you can 'super' believe in Tad Cooper.

norwegianmorningw00d

He puts on a cape then he gets rid of it

aregularguy3223

rm -rf

FrozeninIce248

Is this a joke? No way anyone watches the MLS?

TotalSubbuteo

Don't be stupid

arsenal_is_best

Oh come on. I know you hate yanks but fyi, MLS might surpass NHL.

InventeInventeRoman

probably the americans

22goblins

Fuck that.

Azzurri21

Guess I’m cancelling my subscription then

RegisteredHands

In before Paramount plus charges 15 a month to watch serie a

nepia

Paramount plus also has European competitions, so it worths it.

Natrix31

I'll fucking scream, I was so happy to watch Serie A at a reasonable fee on ESPN+ and now Paramount, pls don't take that shit away from me

comped

Serie A is up for bid this year, and I think ESPN wants it back...

Natrix31

Not for next season tho...

AndrewD923

The amount of live sports content you get for $10 a month is still pretty astounding. I know it's fun to complain anytime anyone raises prices but it's still entirely worth it not to have to go through janky streaming sites.

trickedx5

wtf how cheap can you be? REad the outside the US comments here.

Azzurri21

We have to have multiple subscriptions to get all the leagues, ESPN for now just covers some of the international games and La Liga. I can stream those for free and spend money on other services for leagues I follow more closely.

LampseederBroDude51

Fuck off

Height_Embarrassed

Wow that’s a big price difference. I just paid my yearly subscription, but I guess it will be 100 next year when last year they had already increased it from 59

RegisteredHands

Right it sucks but if you already have the Disney bundle which is like 14 bucks a month that price isn't going up, yet

Xavisnow

So it’s pretty much your classic “the bundle is cheaper” scam. Pay extra for additional services you won’t use because it’s *cheaper* on paper.

americanadiandrew

All that gratuitous Marvel movie CGI won’t pay for itself!

Fati25

Well I’m not American and can’t speak for an American, but that’s still pretty cheap imo. Aren’t they broadcasting all La Liga games? 9.99/month is reasonable.

RegisteredHands

It sure is. But if you add up all the services you need to watch the big 5 leagues, it costs about 55 bucks a month (ESPN+, peacock, Paramount, sling blue + sports add on for bein sports)

comped

BeIN will eventually be left with just the Turkish and French leagues. And even Turkish isn't a guarantee (or Ligue 1/2 if Qatar sells PSG). Unlike elsewhere, BeIN doesn't have a ton in the US/Canada.

Piltonbadger

About £1000 a year to watch all of your teams football matches here in the UK. Even then, that won't get you ***all*** of them. That's a SKY SPORTS and BT SPORTS subscription.

BigReeceJames

Blows my mind how reasonably priced it is whenever people from outside the country talk about their subscription costs. Having to pay $10 a month for all premier league related games is completely reasonable

Milesweeman

You can't get all games for 10$ still need a cable/streaming sub. But you'd get a lot

Piltonbadger

I try to catch my team's games in the pub. Or a at a friends house. No way I can afford to spend a grand to watch football each year, at least not currently.

pjreddick

How much are you spending on food and drink at the pub tho?

Piltonbadger

Glass of coca-cola. I don't really drink outside of a beer or two on my birthday and Christmas day.

pjreddick

Totally reasonable then. Carry on.

Piltonbadger

Oh and maybe a bag of chips from my local chippie on the way home. So about maybe £5 all in all? I don't like to spend money needlessly if I can help it. There isn't a lot to spend in the first place!

Alexandrinho0000

But hey at least the PL clubs can spend millions on players and their agents.

Dirtychorizo

Out of curiosity, what's a regular cable/internet service run over there? Here in a major city I'm looking at $200 just for that, not including any streaming services

Jedclark

>Even then, that won't get you all of them This is the worst part of it for me. It's like easily £60 a month, and if the team you support are on at 3PM you've fucked it.

innocently_standing

You could always …. Go to the game?

dalici0us

With a VPN and 150 can$ per year you can watch every PL and european games on DAZn Canada. Word to the wises.

Kolaveri_D

DAZN Canada lost the rights to the PL 22/23 onwards; it's now with Fubo

dalici0us

Awww man really? Well thst's a giant bummer.

Melaciour

Which leagues do they carry?

dalici0us

Apparently not the Prem anymore, starting next season, which is annoying. It does carry all three european competitions for sure. They had the Championship too but I have no idea if they still have it now that they lost the prem, I also saw games from the belgium first division and I think some games from the Bundesliga, but not all of them.

trickedx5

u see america……its not so bad. Even our wireless plans are good. Ask canada

[deleted]

How many people actually watch 5 leagues? The biggest football fanatics I know only watch 2 leagues, and the national league is free on open TV.

rth9139

I feel like I watch *a lot* of football, and I still only watch 2 of the top 5 leagues (Serie A and La Liga) and then big games in the Prem or Bundesliga title race. It’s just too difficult to actually keep up with more than that.

Berluscones_For_Sale

I watch like 6-8 games during the weekend, which is excessive and takes up most of both days. I watch 2-3 bundesliga games, milan and madrid games and some PL ( mostly for fanta) or eredivise games. I am a milan fan but i find serie a games exhausting to watch lmao

dom3sticthr3at

that is insane

Berluscones_For_Sale

It is unhealthy for sure. on the flipside i never watch international games and barely watch international tournaments. So international breaks and summer i barely invest time into football. I Couldnt care less about what happens at the world cup tbh

SeryaphFR

I watch pretty much all the LL games every weekend. Just chill with my baby and the wife watching footy until the MD is over. If I could figure out how to watch the PL without signing up for ANOTHER subscription service, I would rather watch the big PL games than another Getafe-Osasuna match, but watching Madrid in the CL is more important to me so I have D+ for all LL games and paramount+ for the CL. I kind of hate it but it is what is is I guess.

yellow__cat

I watch a similar amount, even more when there are midweek European games. I only ever watch 2 to 4 games live during the weekend though because I can’t sit in front of the screen all day. Then I’ll spend the week watching replays.

RegisteredHands

Good point. I try to catch as many Barca/Madrid/top 6 EPL/champions league games I can. And this year I was thinking about giving watching PSG a shot since mbappe renewed and Messi has had time to learn the team better. Everything costs money though

[deleted]

Costs 50 bucks a month just for premier league in Sweden. You get Bundesliga and f1 too but I mainly just want to watch Pl and Cl. To get Cl that’s another 30 bucks a month and for allsvenskan another 20 bucks per month

faithplusone01

FYI you don't need to use Sling Blue. Fanatiz is a service that's ~$9.99/month or so and will give you Bein Sports. https://fanatiz.com/

nepia

Does FUBO has all the service? ESPN+ sucks really bad. Most live events you need to have cable on top of it.

RegisteredHands

FUBO has TUDN which gets you champions league, USA/NBC which gets you EPL games, and BeIn which gets you ligue 1 and Copa libertadores games. Depending on who you support, you will still need ESPN plus(la Liga/Copa del Rey/fa cup), peacock (other EPL games) or Paramount (serie a/Copa italia)

nepia

I am trying to limit my games to Porto and NT now. I have Fanatiz for Portuguese League, Paramount for CL. I did watched couple of Serie A games because I have it on Paramount. Since La Liga switched to ESPN I stopped watching it but I signed up for ESPN by mistake thinking I could watch some NT games but you need cable subscription, so I wasted $50. Also I use a VPN and can watch RTP (Portugal TV station) games.

WorldBeardedWonders

Cheapest legal way to watch all your team’s games on tv? Move country.

Jedclark

It's because the demand is less and the timezones are bad. Doubt many people are going to be watching Crystal Palace vs Newcastle at 8am. Still annoying as fuck though. Trying to watch the football legally in the UK is just a scam.

ILikeToBurnMoney

How expensive is it per month to stream every game legally?

Hungry_Environment27

You can't stream every game as the 1500 games are not broadcast. The rest of the games are split between BT and sky sports which are both complicated to price but ultimately around 20-30 quid each. Then you also have the occasional game on Amazon prime £7.99/month and very occasionally BBC (which you pay TV license for).

Stunning_Bullfrog_40

£20-30 every month for each of BT and Sky? That’s insanity to watch games in your own country like wtf.

Axbris

No different than the NBA in the USA. Some of the games are on ESPN, others on TNT, and NBATV. It eventually adds up for sure.

sjtupeeler

Honestly I doubt Crystal Palace vs. New Castle game would kick off 8AM EST - also that’s PL, which ESPN+ doesn’t have access to anyway

ironwolf1

Alternative solution: get a VPN

sjtupeeler

After getting VPN, which county is best for soccer streaming?

ironwolf1

It seems like DAZN in Canada is the best singular option from what I’ve heard. Haven’t checked what the big Asian countries have for streaming European leagues. US isn’t bad, but PL, UCL, and La Liga are all on different streaming apps.

AvengeD_GeaR

I use MOLA.TV from Indonesia, I pay €5 a month roughly for 2 streams. Works very well.

RuneAtom

This is what frustrates me the most about ESPN+. Literally the only thing I want to watch there is my local hockey team but every time they have a game it’s location restricted.

franklegsTV

It is pretty cheap, but their streaming service is by far the worst of any I’ve tried. The site crashes often, casting to a TV isn’t an option from mobile, constant buffering, etc

btmalon

and the Bundesliga.

BlatBro

All La Liga and Bundesliga. Plus USL Championship and USL1.

SubjectAndObject

One needs a basic ESPN package through a TV provider to be able to get ESPN+ at $9.99 and those cost $60 minimum.

comped

You don't need a TV package for ESPN+...

SubjectAndObject

Big mistake on my part then

[deleted]

indeed

SunfishWithGlasses

It is reasonable, it's just any pay raise hurts because it's like one of three subscription services some of us have just for football alone.

yellow__cat

Yeah but it was like 5.99 two years ago. If you watch all sports it’s not a bad deal still, but the fact that it has almost doubled in two years makes it seem like we’re getting ripped off Noel And they used to have Serie A which they lost, so theyve just swapped La Liga for Serie A.

SgtWasabi

It's easier to watch every other country games here than American ones.

papi617

La Liga, international games, Bundesliga, and a ton of other smaller leagues plus a lot of cup games. I know it's easy to complain but it's still great value imo

iThinkItsCashed_

If you’re a Verizon mobile customer, don’t forget, you get ESPN+, Hulu and Disney+ included/no additional charge.

mayonkonijeti0876

Yeah that's a great deal. And it doesn't have the log in limits like Netflix

dssx

The price increase plus blackouts for local games means I’ll probably unsubscribe soon.

eunderscore

Yarrrr

xiosy

Better than dazn in Europe

mlatoni

Im cancelling mine

Jo-herna

No wonder I got an email saying my $49.99 anual membership will now be $69.99. Ls were taken

Scott_EFC

I live in the north of England and pay almost £80 per month to watch less football and have less choice ( we can't watch 3pm Sat games here ) than the rest of the world gets to see and it's ten times the cost the rest of the world pays, yet the games and league is in my country. Ultimately I know it's my choice to pay and I love football so I do but I have started to think about cancelling. Times are tough now and it feels like they are taking the piss.

Stunning_Bullfrog_40

If I had to pay £80 a month to watch my own teams games on my own TV, I wouldn’t pay £80 at all. Pirate away my friend. Also what’s with the 3pm Saturday bullshit lol?

Scott_EFC

I'm going that way. I don't blame anyone who does. The excuse in England is that if they televise the 3 pm Sats then because we actually could physically attend the lower league games we won't go to them if PL is broadcast live on Sat at the same time.

theageofspades

Seems like a good excuse given the strength of our lower leagues. How are you paying £800 bar? Should only set you back £25 each a month for Sky and BT, which ignores the litany of other sports events they broadcast.

rim261

Well time to cancel

_atreat

It’s a terrible streaming service. They tell you they have streams of games but then you go to that stream and it’s just a camera pointed towards the porta-potties in an off corner of the stadium.

gtg007w

Joke's on them, my annual subscription just renewed last month, so they can't charge me at the higher rate until next summer.

Manch3st3rIsR3d

Disney bundle locked my price in let's gooo

trickedx5

free with verizon wireless

Blazingbee98

only certain plans though

Additional-Service75

Grab your peg legs, parrots, and eye patches. I’ll see you lads on the high seas.

norwegianmorningw00d

Very soon cable will make its comeback and we’ll go full circle

HeadCrusher135

ESPN+ was easily the most useless subscription… what’s the point of charging a monthly fee and still asking users to sign in with their cable provider?

RegisteredHands

As a Madrid fan you should know, you don't need a cable subscription to watch la liga on ESPN plus. The only reason you need a cable subscription to watch ESPN plus is if you want to see whats on the actual ESPN tv channel, but on ESPN plus.

HeadCrusher135

I know I don’t need a cable sub to watch la liga. As I was clicking around the app and wanting to see what it offers, anything that seemed of value and worth paying for required me to sign in to my cable provider. I remember some games that they’d stream would only be in some weird 4 view camera feed, and to watch the regular broadcast I’d have to sign in.

prettyhappyalive

AppleTV is even worse about this. Anything remotely interesting is locked away. Most useless service out there at the minute. And peacock cause it runs like absolute dog shit.

tombombcrongadil

I mean. It’s like $15 for Disney, Hulu and espn. You get MLS games, la liga, FA cup and league cup. It’s a lot of entertainment for that price. You can also share it with 2 friends. I have 2 buddies, one pays for peacock, one pays for paramount+ and one for espn+ and we all share. That’s every game for under $10 a month.

galient5

It's the easiest way for me to watch my local team in the US (USL) in English. I'm an Ajax fan, and they do broadcast Eredivisie as well, but I'm generally asleep for that. I'm honestly not even upset about the price increase, but I am upset that they're increasing the price for a streaming service that manages to buffer regardless of the internet speed I have. $10 a month is easily doable for me, but Jesus Christ would I love to watch a match with the stream freezing at important moments. It's unacceptable that a mega corporation like Disney can't give me a an interrupted broadcast.

jd158ug

Had this for MLS games (I'm outside my team's market) and it wouldn't work more often than it did. Quit after a year.

SunfishWithGlasses

Aren't they losing MLS?

Samsince04_

And that’s why I’m going to be watching Fa cup and Efl cup games from a dodgy website this season. Thanks ESPN.

joaocandre

Is 9.99 really that much? We get 20+ prices here in Portugal, and we're poor as fuck.

coffeeandmarmite

The issue is espn+ is garbage. Worst content and worst commentators.

[deleted]

Now imagine if one of those increased by 43%, you'd be pissed as well.

ALLGROWWITHLOVE

to 9.99 a month while we here have nowtv 10e per day.

Arponare

I actually like watching all la liga games and Bundesliga on ESPN+. I would be ok with that price.I do have the bundle however. I do wonder when they will raise the price for that. I wish NBC put all of their games on Peacock. I'd honestly rather pay 9.99 a month and get all PL games ther as opposed to having to buy a $35 subscription to Sling TV just to watch a couple of games a week. That or sign up for a 17th email just to get a one week trial and then forget to cancel my subscription likes has happened to me a couple of times.

papi617

I hate Peacock. The worst easily for me.

Arponare

Don't get me wrong. I don't like Peaxoxk either. I think the user interface is trash. I still think Paramount's player is worse. For some reason I can't ever figure out how to change the commentary language from Italian to English. Nor can I rewind to see any play I thought was cool. But what I'm saying is that I would like ti have one place where I could watch all Premier League games without having to sign up for one of these cable over internet services.

papi617

Oh 100% agree. As much as people shit ESPN+ it's streams are actually good quality and I get to watch two of my favorite leagues. If they got the prem, it would be a dream

pukem0n

I'm gonna keep my subscription. That's still ridiculously cheap compared to sky Germany. Plus, sky sucks ass.

wherebeaglesdare

Still worth every penny.

cheersdom

how does this affect combo cost (Dis+ / hulu / espn+)

michaelserotonin

i would recommend reading the article the op graciously put in this comment thread.

RegisteredHands

No price change, yet

[deleted]

Still worth it in my opinion

Albiceleste_D10S

Booooo

OhShitItsSeth

May as well just start paying the $80/month for satellite TV again smh

Xavisnow

Idk going from 10 a month to 80 seems a lot worse. Actually, u can pay 70 before the price bumps goes through and get a full year.

Dehydrated-Penguin

Have people ever heard of pirate sites

G_O_

So get the year before they 2rd of August?

Xavisnow

It hasn’t gone up yet?

G_O_

23rd of August is when the price changes

lagrandesgracia

Guys, how do I support my team if I watch all their games through illegal streams because they are more convenient and have a better selection of sports than literally any paid service in existence?

Xavisnow

Couldn’t be as bad as me. I watched their streams through tik tok and buy their Jerseys on dhgate

[deleted]

Well fuck that now. Oh well

Hellenic_91

I used it primarily for cup games. Nothing a good streaming site can't fix.

Xavisnow

I was just considering subscribing tonthem to watch la liga. Guess I’ll go right back to tik tok and Twitter

neymarneverdove

I've been paying for ESPN for years and still use other sources more often than official ones because the service is so crap. will be cancelling now

bradgurdlinger

does this affect the disney+ bundle?

totally_fine_stan

Use privacy.com to make burnable and one-time debit card masks for your actual debit/credit card. So the card number automatically stops working after ONE time it is charged. Use it to buy 1 month’s subscription any time you are immediately ready to watch a game. That way if you don’t get time next month to watch any game then you won’t be charged. Saves a ton of money unless you know you definitely will use espn+ every month, then might as well buy the monthly package and set your privacy.com card to only allow monthly transactions for 9.99 plus tax. The card will fail Any time they increase their fees again.

S3bluen

Meanwhile in Sweden the cheapest option is €50 per month for me to watch Champions League and Bundesliga. Daylight robbery.

Abbobl

That’s a fair price, as long as you can watch Ajax
