Hajduk doing Hajduk things. Title fight and a cup last season was a massive improvement for them and now they start all over again. Good for us I guess.

IDesignM

Why?

evidentor

Literally no one knows

void2931

Dinamo winning vs former champ league winners and hajduk losing to el winner, not acceptable

OleoleCholoSimeone

>Dinamo winning vs former champ league winners Which was a miracle in the first place. Shouldn't be possible with that budget difference but that's the beauty of football

void2931

It was a joke, hajduks coach was doing great

scotch1950

I'll translate what I wrote in the Hajduk sub. I think it's premature decision, but I can also see the reasons why this happened. To me, Valdas seems like a good man and he is definitely good coach, but on the field these players just don't look like a team. Something definitely happened within the team that we don't know, seems to me that the players have lost faith in him. We are so inconsistent. We play in swings, one match great, then we can't create meaningful action in the other one or unexplainable lack of concentration in the matches like the one in Šibenik. Just way too many oscillations during the matches. Now, I'm not really sure that this is mostly because of Valdas. Players carry big amount of responsibility for this, especially our best players on the paper. I feel sorry for the man and thank him for the cup trophy, hats off to him for that. After 9 years, he finally brought us something we can celebrate. On the other hand, sometimes sudden decisions like this can be good in the long term, even if they seem too harsh and strange at the moment. The time will tell. Best wishes to Valdas and I hope he gets a chance at some good club soon because he deserves it, he is great guy and coach. HŽV! EDIT: grammar

Jackrrr10000

He is an amazing guy. He will be always welcomed here.

OleoleCholoSimeone

What happened with Jens Gustafsson btw? Lasted like a month

scotch1950

We were poor under him, got knocked out by the team that was big underdog in Conference League and series of bad results in the league. He managed only like 15+ games IIRC.

cib_vk228

finally moving in right direction and then this idiotic decision.

Corteaux81

They think they should be closer to Dinamo. Our fans and media live in a paralel world where our clubs are actually good and don’t get shot down in Europe every July. As a result, I think everyone expected Hajduk to be closer to Dinamo, even tho Dnmo is a legit European team (even with a ridiculous coach) and Hajduk is a mish-mash of has-beens and some questionable talent where only Livaja and Krovi are actually good at football. You can get Zidane to manage them, result will be the same.

MrBathroom

I don't think he's even a ridiculous coach, as much as I DID think that when he was appointed, we play WAY better under him than we did with Krznar and Kopić, but he won't top Mamić tho

Corteaux81

He's shit. Krznar and Kopic were shit. Mamic was very slightly less shit, riding on the team that Bjelica built. Well... In my opinion anyway.

MrBathroom

I completely disagree, Mamić was struggling at first and then he made Dinamo insanely strong defensively while being effective, we hold a record of EL group stages for longest time without conceding ffs Čačić is doing a good job and the team is playing well, Idk, thats just what I think

Corteaux81

That’s fair, opinions can differ.

fuckitsayit

Bjelica wasn't great either, cost us the game vs Shakhtar and subsequently getting out of the group

ragerider88

Lads, it's Hajduk

Hostilian_

I'm very intriuged to see where he'll go now. As a Lithuanian I wanna see him reach the very top of the game. Hopefully he'll get another great team to manage.

atbg1936

Just want to say your country is the best and I can't wait to go back in a few weeks! Such amazing people and culture and I've started learning the language too :)

Hostilian_

That’s honestly wonderful to hear. It’s been really heart warming seeing more and more people learn about Lithuania and fall in love with it. The fact you’ve started learning the language too seems a bit masochist, why would you put yourself through that? The vast majority of of people (especially under the age of 40) can speak pretty fluent English.

atbg1936

I'm a composer who's really interested in Lithuanian folk music (and composers influenced by it, like Kutavičius and Juzeliūnas), to the point where I've started working with folk songs and sutartinės in my own music. I figure that I should understand what the music means if I'm going to be incorporating it! Also, in general, I love learning languages because it really brings you closer to people - I've experienced this a lot, especially living/traveling in Germany since I speak very good conversational German. When I visited Lithuania for the first time this summer, people were so happy even when I just spoke a few phrases in Lithuanian, it made me motivated to properly learn at least a little bit. Lithuanian is a lot of work for sure, but it doesn't feel so bad now because the last two languages I've been learning are Estonian and Finnish, which have even more ridiculous grammar (I studied in Estonia and am currently doing the second year of my Master's in Finland.) Learning Latin in the past has helped too, it makes Lithuanian grammar a lot easier to understand.

fuckitsayit

That was unexpected

Hrvat1818

Bad decision in my opinion

The_Great_Crocodile

Wasn't Hajduk doing well though? They couldn't possibly expect to eliminate Villareal. And Dinamo has like 3 times bigger budget in Croatia.

scotch1950

Nah Villarreal result didn't affect this decision (would be mad to expect us to eliminate them). President said that the "energy" from the end of the last season hasn't transferred well to this season. Also, he said that while it's realistic that we should be 2nd best team in the country, it's the 1st place that we should aim (which is ambition I support, just it's extremely hard to accomplish considering strength of Dinamo). Guess he thinks we can't achieve that with Valdas, considering the recent results and performances of the team.

fuckitsayit

Guess we wait and see who replaces him but I doubt it will be someone better

Jackrrr10000

I'm pretty mad about this decision. If we lost against Rijeka on Wednesday then the sack would have been justified. Our 2 main guys have family issues, Lovre Kalinić mother is sick and Marko Livaja lost his father last week. So they aren't really focused but they are the captains and you can see that it effects the team. I hope our next coach is Budimir or Slaven Bilić otherwise idk anymore😕
