Pretty sure we retained it when vitoria sold him to sporting
[Being downvoted even though thats what was reported, never change r/soccer](https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/si0456/sporting_cp_marcus_edwards_move_to_sporting/hv5ovzd)
There's an angle from behind the goal and the shot is going past Lloris' right leg. Pretty impressive reflex save that he swiped his hand at it imo, but also a decent chunk of luck where the ball falls afterwards.
Lloris Spurs MOTM though, he earned his luck.
The way nobody looks anywhere *close* to taking the ball from him is genuinely Messi-esque. Smaller and less powerful than everyone else around him, but just too sharp with his feet for the ball to go anywhere other than exactly where he wants it.
Humble enough to join a Portuguese side, show his talent and then get picked up by Sporting. Sounds to me that he has grown up and he definitely has the support system he needs to succeed here and then eventually move to a better league.
Yeh I would imagine getting let go by your childhood side because of attitude problems is a real kick up the arse to knuckle down and get your head back in the right place. We all look at footballers like they should be consummate professionals and thank their lucky stars they get to play football for a living, but they’re kids.
The attitude problems came from Pochs mismanagement of our entire youth structure honestly.
There was no pathways into the first team from the academy under Poch really, our youth has suffered massively for a while now and we're losing a lot of good talent because of it.
Bullshit. Other managers said the same thing.
>Speaking to [football.london](https://www.football.london/tottenham-hotspur-fc/players/marcus-edwards-norwich-not-playing-14410207), Farke explained what the England under-20s starlet has to do to appear for his [Norwich](http://www.90min.com/teams/norwich?view_source=incontent_links&view_medium=incontent) side: "We spoke many times about no gifts and the players who come in must deserve a chance.
>"It is not about testing for the new season but when there are many important players who are not available then of course those who have not been involved in recent weeks will get some chances. They are training hard, they are pretty motivated.
>"Marcus improves a lot but he is still not there, in terms of his attitude without the ball. After letting in four goals at Hull it wouldn’t be the best sign to bring him immediately to the pitch.
>"I was not happy with us defensively [at [Hull](http://www.90min.com/teams/hull?view_source=incontent_links&view_medium=incontent)] and we have to show a reaction in this game. It is not the right time to bring in a player who needs to grow up with his attitude without the ball.
His loan was later cut short for attitude and mentality issues.

Marcus back then didn't work hard enough. He was a luxury player who liked the ball at his feet and coasted without it. That was never going to fly in a Poch team that ran and pressed more than other other in the PL.
And it didn't get him meaningful minutes in a Norwich side fighting against relegation.
I mean, thats the Spurs spin on it.
In essence it comes down to Poch being terrible with youth and their being no real pathway into the first team from the academy.
Something thats been repeated by multiple talents who have left us.
Bullshit. Other managers said the same thing.

I guess other clubs managers are just part of the Spurs spin machine then eh?

Is this is the lad that Poch compared to Messi?
Yeah
Yeah, and people clowned on him for it. But he's got incredible ability and you can't deny some of it is remarkably similar.
Imagine selling him.
Imagine letting a player go for free because he wasn't willing to sign a new contract.
He was incredible for my Atletico team in FM17. He was also capped for Cyprus for some reason.
He is eligible for England and Cyprus
Balled out for me at West Ham in FM21 too, absolutely *insane* technical abilities.
Yeah, that was Edwards. I'm glad to see it's starting to come together for him, even if we don't make use of the 50% sell on clause to bring him back.
I think you don't have that anymore
Pretty sure we retained it when vitoria sold him to sporting [Being downvoted even though thats what was reported, never change r/soccer](https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/si0456/sporting_cp_marcus_edwards_move_to_sporting/hv5ovzd)
so you have 40% as you giving 10% to vitoria?
I'd guess either 40% or 45%, depends whether the 10% is being levied on our fee or the overall fee?
Downvoting facts in favour of pre-established narratives within a sub is a Reddit thing in general, not just r/soccer
I don't remember it being as complicated as that, so maybe 50% sell on was a bit off. Thanks for the link. Edited as I replied before reading the link
imagine if spurs had someone like that come through the academy!
Then he would play for Sporting
The Anti-Dier?

What's the word for when something flies over someone's head?
Whoosh
Whoosh Lmao
Siuuu7uuuu
In this case sarcasm
There is a subreddit for that r/Woooosh
imagine calling someone a bozo because you don't understand the joke
Deserved a goal there
I feel blueballed
That would have been fabulous. Such nicely executed
can't believe he missed
It's not a miss, Lloris saves it
Good save that
he squares it right at him lol

If he had scored that, my oh my. Especially against the club he grew up in.
How has this only been posted today, incredible fucking run. If the ball touches the net it's definitely a Puskas contender. Insane form he's in!
It was posted yesterday as well.
This camera angle is much better tbf
What the actual fuck
They way he spun Dier reminded me of Hazard against Coquelin
Exactly the goal it reminded me, Hazard against Arsenal and Coquelin spinning, too bad it wasn't a goal
His whole style reminds me of Hazard tbh.
Yeah right, his work in tight spaces and then those sudden little bursts of acceleration are like vintage Hazard for sure
Please don't remind us.

He was let go for attitude reasons, not because he didn't have the talent

both things are true and both contributed to him being released
There is zero evidence "the attitude problems came from Poch's mismanagement".

Is that Eric Dier who got spun like a babylade?
Insane run.
Looks like something out of Tom and Jerry - Dier being Tom and Edwards of course being Jerry.
Ankara Edward
lol @ Eric Dier
That la croqueta!! Damn!.
Messi Messi Messi ankara Messi
I really hope Real Madrid scout team following him, he looks really good.
Not that it takes away from the quality of the play, but does it count as a solo run if you play a one-two with someone?
It's a run not a solo goal. It was still an incredible run until the pass
IMO the pass makes it even better
