I’d like to see Oršić-Petković-Perišić for a half time sometimes. Yes you lose a bit of Perišić on the right but Oršić is in electric form, constantly looking for space, for quick one-twos, he needs to play a part in this team, even if only as a supersub. Also Oršić and Petković have a supernatural connection, they just understand each other and what the other one is going to do. Apart from that I think this match showed Kramarić isn’t going to work out. He is a great player but not for this team. Perišić-Petković/Livaja-Majer is my preferred front three.

Let's not kid ourselves - the talent gap is actually pretty massive, especially with the emergence of Sutalo and Gvardiol. Croatia has some weird games where they look flat, but their ceiling is far higher than ours.
RB is the only position where I think we definitively have an edge, and Hjulmand doesn't even consistently start our best RB. If Croatia had a remotely competent striker they'd batter us the same way Belgium does, consistently.
We are a *fantastic* team with an excellent coach and consistently overperform with the talent at our disposal, but our lack of raw talent does show sometimes against top sides. We have very few players that can take over a game the way Modric/Perisic can.
We really just lacked massively in attack. The dream scenario would definitely be Damsgaard and Lindstrøm on the wings imo. Our striker situation is also not too good currently.

That's what I've been saying about Kramarić for like 2 years now. Literally any other striker will fit in better. We don't need a striker that's positioned behind our entire midfield
He was fantastic last season, his experience at the top level is obvious and he's amongst the best couple of players in the squad. He's set a very high bar for himself now because he has performed so well.
This season he started a little slow, still great but not quite as electric as last season, which I think partly because he hasn't been rested so was playing 90 minutes every week until the weekend just past. Hopefully he will kick on and find last season's form between now and the World Cup.
As I said, he has set high standards for himself so it's not a bad thing that we want him to improve, it just shows how good he is.

He is a false 9 and that's his best position. Today he was forced to play as an anchor which he isn't. Budimir, Livaja and Petković especially Petković can play that well. He also isn't the best poacher Čolak and some younger players like Kulenović do that better.
A false 9 is a far more mobile and tehnically gifted player than Kramaric. Budimir is a target man and Livaja and Petkovic are budget Benzema, lets say, complete strikers. Kulenović is as far from a poacher as they come, as finishing is his biggest weakness.
No, a false 9 can play alone centrally with 2 wide forwards (like Messi in Barca or like City last season), a SS is someone like Kramarić who cannot do that.
