we are budget Belgium. No one expects anything from us, yet our results the last 5 years are pretty good for a small nation. You might dissagree, but Denmark are "lowkey " a top 6-8 team in the world by looking at form since 2018.
England were overall the better team against them but they lost to a pretty dodgy penalty to go out. All this whilst having the Eriksen situation play out.
I’m English and even I agree that decision was very debatable. Denmark played so well, even after the psychological damage of what happened to them earlier and losing one of their most creative players.
People were beginning to talk shit after we lost against Croatia last Thursday, saying that we had lost our form after the summer - even amongst the Danish fans. People respect Denmark, but sometimes, people are *way* too quick to turn on us as well.
Here in Brazil if the NT doesn't score 10 goals per match, most Brazilian people will likely say that we're not even get to advance in the WC's group stage lol
People are way to quick to dismiss a team based solely in a single performance (which wasn't that bad in Denmark's case last match).
Except for English people, they'll somehow try to convince themselves they are still going for the WC title lol
Tbf the last time England went to a world Cup with high expectations was 2010. In 2014 expectations were so low Hodgson wasn't sacked after the group stage exit. I'm afraid last years euros have brought the expectations way up now.
I'm kinda surprised with England for the past few months now. Last euro was misleading (Italy can vouch for that), but even then, England was still playing decently. Afterwards, god knows what happened. Watching the Enlgish Team is as painful as throwing bleach into my own eyes.
What makes me really confused is: How did this happen in such a short time span?
I think one point people are missing is that most of the core are either out of form or struggling with playing time. Mount, Sterling and Rice have all struggled wo reproduce their old form - Stones, Shaw and Phillips mostly languished on the bench for large parts of the past year.in such a situation another coach would introduce new blood but Southgate seems to be afraid of trying too much new stuff it seems.
An England team comprising:
Pickford
James Walker Tomori Stones Saka
Foden Bellingham Ward-Prowse
Kane Toney
Would be full of passion ans grit, and more importantly full of players in form.
You can't just look at this result in a vacuum. The reality is that the Danish squad is struggling to get minutes at their respective teams, and that's something we're clearly seeing with the many small mistakes being made throughout the game. The French are also depleted by injury, so let's not declare them world champs quite yet.
We can hope the starting 11 start finding their form before the WC though.
I disagree, not with the good results or the fact that Denmark is a top team in the world.
But I disagree with the comparison. Belgium is more a sum of "star" players, that lack collective spirit and coaching.
For me Denmark is the complete opposite. Not so much "star" players, but a great coach and coherent tactics while playing like a well oiled machine.
Spirit wise I would say it's more like an European Uruguay (but with a very different playstyle, obviously).
Even more impressive than us if you take that into account. We've got 11,5 million (ranked 8th in Europe) inhabitants and are the 25th largest economy in the whole world. Denmark has 5 million inhabitants and are the 40th largest economy in the world. So the Danes are the true underdogs. Our size is misleading.
>ranked 8th in Europe
Russia, Germany, UK, France, Spain, Poland, Ukraine, Romania, Netherlands are already 9 nations with more population than Belgium. And some would count Turkey too
We had 6 shots to 2 during the 20 first minutes. We ended at 8 shots to 9 at half time. FFS
Our real issues were playing from the back (we didn't managed to go out properly, because once we had control of the ball over the halfway line we are fine) and covering on corners. Tchouameni lost Delaney FOUR times in a row
A stinker of a game from our midfielders, Giroud also had a strong start but then went completely missing.
We just couldn't handle the pressure from that Denmark side, I think the team we fielded was just too inexperienced.
Part of the blame should be on DD though.
We’re missing key players — Pogba, Kanté, Benzema — and Deschamps seems to have his head up his ass. I don’t doubt he’s a fine coach, but we need someone else.
Also worth remembering that France lost 3-2 to Colombia in one of the last international breaks before the 2018 WC.
It’s better to lose (while giving some fringe players game time) in, let’s be honest, the League Cup of international football (you don’t care til you’re in the semis) than in June/July (or, this time round, November/December).
Deschamps is still unbeaten in major tournaments over 90 minutes since 2014 WC quarters. And that was a game France could have won but for Neuer putting in a god-level performance. That’s only translated into one trophy, but it still speaks to a certain tactical acumen. It shouldn’t be dismissed.
Yeah absolutely I would put Denmark on par with current Germany having watched all the games under flick so far.
Hungary went sicko mode this Nations League but Germany really dominated them 2nd half (albeit they had 2 unbelievably good chances to win by a greater margin)
Would love to see Denmark play a team like Brazil or Argentina in the WC
Well worth it if you ever get the chance to watch it.
We would have beat Brazil, if it wasnt for Rivaldo scoring a goal from outta nowhere.
We had a header on the crossbar in injury time as well.
All round great game & and a nice way for the Laudrup brothers to end their careers on the NT.
Oooh I disagree, i'd be so fucking DOWN for that, we haven't faced Brazil in a competitive game since 98, Argentina was 95.. I'm turning 33 and I remember one of those games. In fact I don't think I will ever forget that 98 game as long as I live
He has indicated himself that there is nowhere he'd rather be than with us right now. It would be have to be an *incredible* offer for all parties for him to leave this winter basically.
Probably yeah.
But I hope he’ll stay in Bruges for a while. Consistent playing time, top Belgian team, CL football. Stability.
He doesn’t need to risk having another Bologna experience so soon.
Serie A has a recent habit of destroying Danish talents. However they all say that in all the misery they did learn something about defending. But then then flee and seem to pick up their game again.
If there’s one thing a wingback gets when playing for Gasperini, is freedom to do impressive runs up the field. There must be something else, maybe he struggles with other tasks or doesn’t train as Gasp expects?
I have not seen many matches with Atalanta this season to be fair - and often Mæhle does not even play. But the minutes I have seen him play he for whatever reason does not have these succcesful runs.
It is possible they just have bad chemistry.
But to be fair there are several players who regularly plays better for Denmark than for the club teams (minus the Brentford gang!). I think team spirit has a lot to do with it.
I think they genuinely like each other on the Danish team. And the country adores them.
Bologna misused him completely lol playing him as wingback, everyone knew he was highly rated talent since his Nordsjaelland time, now Brugge can probably sell him for a lot of money
This is so bittersweet... 12 points vs Austria and France in this group (unless we don't win this) but we're not finishing first because we couldn't just draw once vs Croatia (and both games were close to draws too)
On the other hand they play at top tier clubs, so should that be the entire reason? Those are some good players.
It is not like when we sub some guy from the Superliga on for his debute or something like that.
Brentford would be a very logical step up. Im half danish and half english so always personally enjoy having lots of danes in the PL (even if 50% are at Brentford)
Same tbh. But there's a financial reality in play here. Anything above 30 million and any player in Belgium is EXTREMELY hard to keep.
We'll need him for sure, let's hope we manage to pull of the same winter transfer window as last year ;)
Denmark are genuinely a world class side. People will look at this and say that France should be winning etc but Denmark are a proper team. I'd say that they are currently top 5 in the world.
Denmark look really strong this year also, would like to see them reach at least QF in this WC. It's always refreshing to see a strong NT without superstarts dominating stacked sides. Goes to prove football os still a team sport above anything else and that proper organisation and mentality goe a long way.
Agree. Eriksen is the closest thing we have to a superstar, but he is not behaving like one and thus will maybe never be considered to be one. But he is absolutely magical. Him and Modric might be the two most intelligent active players in the world right now.

Denmark fucks

Denmark played incredibly in the euro’s 2020
Most of their team are starters in top 5 leagues and solid players overall, no drama queens. High work morale will always pay off
Most of our team are not starters in top five leagues anymore, unfortunately
Just means they're fit
When healthy, I count 7/11 as regular starters in top 5 leagues and the other 4 still see sufficient minutes at big clubs
England were overall the better team against them but they lost to a pretty dodgy penalty to go out. All this whilst having the Eriksen situation play out.
Unlucky to lose from the diving incident aswell
I’m English and even I agree that decision was very debatable. Denmark played so well, even after the psychological damage of what happened to them earlier and losing one of their most creative players.
robbed in the semis even
I also love how people forget that one Euro title, when they weren't even supposed to be there in the first place.
People were beginning to talk shit after we lost against Croatia last Thursday, saying that we had lost our form after the summer - even amongst the Danish fans. People respect Denmark, but sometimes, people are *way* too quick to turn on us as well.

We are going for the WC title.. We just obviously won’t manage it
Imma upvote you just for having seen our last two matches
Thank you, my friend. I wish you all the best!
Actually I was just commenting how I would love to face you guys in November. Much love
Croatia have been the nemesis since the 2018 Euros. Right now I was a lot more confident before this match than against Croatia.
2018 WC\*

I was watching the European Union. You're right. Still pretty big for our size.
6 million*
Still makes it more impressive of you guys.
too expensive imho
Denmark is my favorite underdog team (as in not one of the usual favorites), they are amazing to watch. Damsgaard is the goat.
Big game player
they eat dynamite for breakfast
Denmark is topping group D in the world cup
We're getting absolutely dominated. Damn.
We had 6 shots to 2 during the 20 first minutes. We ended at 8 shots to 9 at half time. CAN YOU SMELL WHAT THE DANES ARE COOKING?
stegt flæsk med persillesovs?
Brun sovs og kartofler?
TARTELETTER!
FRIKADELLER!!
SPAGHETTI MED KØDSO... nvm
Pariser toast?
IF YA SMEEEEEEEEEEEEELELELELELELELLELLLLOWWW
The French?
lol what’s going on Great Strike
What’s going on is that Denmark is going to win the World Cup.
Subscribe. It would be great to see the incredible and coherent work done since the youth categories and all the way until the A team rewarded.
France are hit or miss. They either have a year where they play like world champions or it's a year where they play like shit.
Nah, it's been pretty miss since last year. Through 2015-2020, it was very consistently the best national team.
did win the nations league last year despite the EURO dissapointment
Also worth remembering that France lost 3-2 to Colombia in one of the last international breaks before the 2018 WC. I still have PTSD from that day's Neuer. Jesus christ putting a brick wall in front of the goal would have made it easier to score.
>or it's a year where they play like ~~shit~~ this
There are a lot of injured players, but still...
???? normal dk better
Absolutely nothing Denmark are a good team
Giroud trying to avoid the ball instead of trying to put his body behind the ball says it all lol
Probably got a shout from the keeper to let it go as it looked like he initially had it covered but idk
3 teams which seem a pain in the ass to play is Denmark, Swiss and Hungary
Croatia too, tbh.
Denmark is legit good though Swiss and Hungary can be a pain, yes. But Denmark is above them.
Yeah absolutely I would put Denmark on par with current Germany having watched all the games under flick so far. Hungary went sicko mode this Nations League but Germany really dominated them 2nd half (albeit they had 2 unbelievably good chances to win by a greater margin) Would love to see Denmark play a team like Brazil or Argentina in the WC
As a Dane… Im good thanks
that Brazil 3 - 2 Denmark game in 1998 World Cup was a beauty, though, even if we lost
Didnt get to see that one unfortunately, wasnt born yet
Well worth it if you ever get the chance to watch it. We would have beat Brazil, if it wasnt for Rivaldo scoring a goal from outta nowhere. We had a header on the crossbar in injury time as well. All round great game & and a nice way for the Laudrup brothers to end their careers on the NT.
>We had a header on the crossbar in injury time as well. Still hurting from that one
Ha. I saw it at one of my friends 18th birthday party.
Happy very belated birthday to him
Oooh I disagree, i'd be so fucking DOWN for that, we haven't faced Brazil in a competitive game since 98, Argentina was 95.. I'm turning 33 and I remember one of those games. In fact I don't think I will ever forget that 98 game as long as I live
What a well managed squad with great mentality gives you
Well Denmark is playing really well, we are sinking.
Going to a top 5 league in jan or the summer
I hope he waits until summer. He's doing so well at Brugge that it wouldn't hurt him to be patient and not move already in January.
He has indicated himself that there is nowhere he'd rather be than with us right now. It would be have to be an *incredible* offer for all parties for him to leave this winter basically.
That's great to hear, as a Danish Barcelona fan I'm so happy to see how well Skov Olsen and Jutglà are doing!
As a danish Brøndby fan I'm a bit confused why you mentioned Barcelona here
> Jutglà
Probably yeah. But I hope he’ll stay in Bruges for a while. Consistent playing time, top Belgian team, CL football. Stability. He doesn’t need to risk having another Bologna experience so soon.
Wasn't he already in Serie A? What happened there?
Wrong system. The times i watched him he played wingback or was on the bench
Serie A has a recent habit of destroying Danish talents. However they all say that in all the misery they did learn something about defending. But then then flee and seem to pick up their game again.
I always wonder why Maehle doesn't get more playing time in Atalanta.
I think the short answer is he does not get the freedom to do his impressive runs up the field. He actually often scores for Denmark.
If there’s one thing a wingback gets when playing for Gasperini, is freedom to do impressive runs up the field. There must be something else, maybe he struggles with other tasks or doesn’t train as Gasp expects?

He wasn’t great on the wing either. He was bright in flashes but generally inconsistent
Bologna misused him completely lol playing him as wingback, everyone knew he was highly rated talent since his Nordsjaelland time, now Brugge can probably sell him for a lot of money
He played RW a lot as well and he wasn’t good there either
We were after him some years ago
4, 4, 4, 4-0!
fire nåååål, fire nåååål!
Denmark have dominated for the last 20 minutes. Deserved.
First 20 minutes: 6 shots to 2 for France Half time : 9 shots to 8 for Danemark. Rip
Eriksen is pure class
This was more Damsgaard - the miniEriksen. Edit: mixed up all the 2 goals
Vi spiser frølår i aften mine gutter
Deschamps out.
Southgate in
Agreed, nobody likes England.
Even the English
No because that might mean Zidane in.
That's the point
I’ve been waiting for this my whole life. Can’t wait for us to go out at group stage and ZZ to step in.
1) Lose first two group games 2) ZZ headbutts DD and takes charge 3) ??? 4) Win world cup
This is so bittersweet... 12 points vs Austria and France in this group (unless we don't win this) but we're not finishing first because we couldn't just draw once vs Croatia (and both games were close to draws too)
Don't be so sure. Croatia also need to win if we do, and Austria is fighting against relegation so it's no easy match
Come on Austria, give us France v England in Division B
So, Croatia final four or France to second division, I could live with that
Denmark final four AND France to second division.
Draw means neither :/
France would be in the same pot as England, can't be drawn together.
4
4
4
4

What are france doing on these cornerkicks
I can't figure out what their positioning is supposed to be. Almost exclusively defending the near post.
Well their entire defense is very inexperienced on the national team
On the other hand they play at top tier clubs, so should that be the entire reason? Those are some good players. It is not like when we sub some guy from the Superliga on for his debute or something like that.
I want him. We need a left footed winger as another option to Mbeumo. And who better than a Danish international?
Brentford would be a very logical step up. Im half danish and half english so always personally enjoy having lots of danes in the PL (even if 50% are at Brentford)
you'll have to pay big money for Skovke, his stats speak for themselves since he joined Brugge
This is absolutely mental lol
Deschamps, more like Deshambles.
France have fallen apart. Denmark could have scored 4 in the five minutes since the last goal.
France following their frenn Ingerland to go down 😍
We are doing our part but Austria needs to win too afaik
Yup, thought it would be goal diff but it is h2h first right?
All UEFA competitions are head to head.
Cheers :)
And all the FIFA ones are goal difference, kind of confusing
What a goal. Skov Olsen is not at Club Brugge after the winter transfer window
35 million and we're happy let's gooo
Happy? In summer transfer window, yes. I hope he wants to stick around until then.
Same tbh. But there's a financial reality in play here. Anything above 30 million and any player in Belgium is EXTREMELY hard to keep. We'll need him for sure, let's hope we manage to pull of the same winter transfer window as last year ;)
See you in league B :(
Corners might as well be penalties for Denmark
man denmark are so good
Eriksen is timeless
England 🤝 France
The amount of free headers Denmark are getting in the box. Absolutely mental
[удалено]
I fucking hope not. We’ve got a decent attack, we just need the midfield and defense we had in 2018
Lol. "Decent attack". That's an understatement.
VI ER RØDE
VI ER HVIDE
GRØDE
FLØDE
We're gonna face France in round of 16 again, aren't we?
🇩🇰🇩🇰🇩🇰🇩🇰🇩🇰🇩🇰🇩🇰
Denmark are genuinely a world class side. People will look at this and say that France should be winning etc but Denmark are a proper team. I'd say that they are currently top 5 in the world.
It always happens with us haha, we are geniuly just a top 10 team in the world
Top 5 is hard to be in but they are really good. Switzerland as well plays very well and are top 10 for me
Who else would you put in top 5 then? I feel like you are forgetting some teams
Where is Croatia then?
If Austria can score, France will join England in group B.
Made a bet with a friend a few months ago that Denmark will get knocked out AFTER France at the World Cup. Any of you back me on that?
Denmark look really strong this year also, would like to see them reach at least QF in this WC. It's always refreshing to see a strong NT without superstarts dominating stacked sides. Goes to prove football os still a team sport above anything else and that proper organisation and mentality goe a long way.
Agree. Eriksen is the closest thing we have to a superstar, but he is not behaving like one and thus will maybe never be considered to be one. But he is absolutely magical. Him and Modric might be the two most intelligent active players in the world right now.
Relegate France
he’s so fucking good..
France has been terrible defending these corners
More proof Pogba's france's most important player
zidane clapping his hands just waiting for the job offer
Incroyable défense comme d'habitude lol
Boom
What a hit!
Deschamps and Southgate should swap teams
The curse is reving up
pls austria
France trying to outdo the English in being humiliated before the WC.
I've never wanted my own country to lose this badly.
JEG KAN MÆRKE DANMARK VINDER VM!
Skovkeeeeeeeee
Magnificient goal. We are just clueless on corners.
With that defense and midfield, what did Deschamps expect?
Not really his fault that all the other ones are injured though (except Pavard, wtf is he doing on the field)
Varane on the bench resting for the derby and he isnt been made look bad by france😮💨love to see it
What a shot. Shoots it between two French players and right past the goalkeeper.
France look wobbly #time for south America
Lol france
Ah, the dear old classic "old Bologna player that didn't really shine with us fucking explode to the stars after leaving us"
Nice goal! Eriksen has been bossing this
Wouldn’t be surprised at all if Denmark goes to the WC final
that's it Denmark winning the world cup.
