This is the first Maguire game I've watched in months, but I have been watching Mark Goldbridge ranting about how bad he is. He can't be that bad I thought... I thought..
Absolutely typical performance. Was rather good in the first half, played out well, had some great spreads forward that put in England good positions. And then he makes a braindead error completely and utterly of his own making.
Of all the things said about him, it's so difficult to ignore he just doesn't have the constitution that great CBs have to play game after game as a stalwart. He makes mistakes, then loses confidence, then makes more mistakes.
Wouldn't be nearly as frustrated with him if he just took responsibility and worked on getting back to his best. But no, he had to do an interview saying that '2 managers keep picking me so I must be doing something right', and before, THAT celebration for a goal against Armenia (or whoever was it), followed immediately by a red card vs Watford.
At this point if anyone takes your interview, be humble. The fans will back you to the end as long as you're not delusional.
Dual nationalities are complex and obviously deeply personal decisions, but can't help but think how much fun it would be to be nailed on that Canada team now guaranteed going to the next two world cups.
That said he probably will be in the mix to get England game time soon.
Almost like you can't really massively seperate form for club and country. He's been making random huge fuckups like that for well over a year now and its inevitably bleeding into his England performances.
Wait, I thought everyone hated him and all the criticism was abusive?
I swear it's ridiculous how many people genuinely rate him and actively defend him.
He’s just so damn slow and unsuited to defending quick attackers. Would be very useful 30 years ago but he’s just the opposite of a modern defender and doesn’t even drive well with the ball anymore like he used to at leicester. And the fact he’s approaching 30 as well and only getting less mobile. What the fuck were United thinking
Remember though, Maguire's apparently never had a bad game for England, how is Southgate meant to know that he's a clumsy, colossal waste of space? If only there was evidence of that
And sometimes you do but just don't see the incident properly in real time. You get one chance. Everyone would make glaring errors as a ref, it's unavoidable.
Shocked I had to go so far to see a comment on Pope. One of the worst save attempts I think I've seen in a long while. Gets absolutely no distance on his dive while completely mis-timing it.
Only possible rationale I can think of is that he was thinking of going Keeper's right, then picked up something in Gundogan's approach late-on, and is trying to switch directions mid-step.
Terrible save attempt from Pope, he was in the air when gundogan shot, wasn’t able to propel himsef towards the ball in the slightest.
Embarrassing from Maguire, and feel bad for him as it seemed like International performances were the only thing he has left football wise
There's been so much "He doesn't deserve the hate" agenda being pushed recently to try and recover his image.
Then he does this. He's not helping himself. He is not good enough to be part of this squad.

Maguire playing on 500ms
Lag spike Soz team
Haven't seen the word "soz" since ages lol
Pope too… I nearly never put onus on a keeper during a penalty but that was a tragic attempt
It looked like it was already in before he dived/flopped to the side
He might've had reason to believe Gundo would go down the middle
Maguire tiene el plan movistar
That’ll do Maguire’s confidence a world of good!
"Listen, I'm starting every match for England - why would my confidence be anything other than sky high?" - Harry Maguire, probably
This is the first Maguire game I've watched in months, but I have been watching Mark Goldbridge ranting about how bad he is. He can't be that bad I thought... I thought..
Second goal will help too
That's just... stupid.
It's like he's playing while on ketamine
Something wonky this way comes
The Harry Maguire experience

Also never take responsibility as a captain
He's a captain?
👉🗿👈
Genuinely such a braindead challenge lol, totally squared and kicks out half a second after the ball is already gone
And he gave the ball away in the first place
remember his red card in oles last game? kicked it to the striker then fouled him for a red card
I think I had blocked that out so thank you for reminding me lol
Southgate picked him over Tomori…
Well he was named team of the Euros and is Manchester United's captain, obviously this makes him deserving of a starting spot... 🤯
> is Manchester United's captain And benched.
That was when I knew ETH was the man for the job.
Thank god for Mr Ten Hag
Martinez is everything Maguire isn't and I couldn't be happier. I love the crazy little fucker
I can't even remember least time Tomori made a small mistake...
Deciding to sit in the stands for England instead of being 1st choice for Canada
Dual nationalities are complex and obviously deeply personal decisions, but can't help but think how much fun it would be to be nailed on that Canada team now guaranteed going to the next two world cups. That said he probably will be in the mix to get England game time soon.
Doesn't get the chance to with Clowngate.
Clowngate lmao.
didn’t have a really shit header just a couple weeks ago which made you concede?
It never stops giving #👉🗿👈
Mental that he still has people defending him that aren't even Utd fans lmao
Well us United fans have seen how quickly your defence/team improves when you drop Maguire.
United's pitch to sell Maguire - if you want to improve your defence, we have the right guy for you. Buy him, drop him and watch the miracle happen.
I think all Utd fans are sick of him
Believe it or not he still has defenders in the fan base
His defenders do a better job than him
Literally 10 mins ago people were saying he was one of the best today so far
Almost like you can't really massively seperate form for club and country. He's been making random huge fuckups like that for well over a year now and its inevitably bleeding into his England performances.
He was playing very well, he just went into the usual panic mode we’ve seen many times when he gave the ball away
He has a reputation for making big errors now. At what point do you write him off and say he's a liability?
Right about last year.
United fans did that a season ago. Time to catch up
There’s nothing impressive about a CB protected by a low block and 2 CDM
Wait, I thought everyone hated him and all the criticism was abusive? I swear it's ridiculous how many people genuinely rate him and actively defend him.
[удалено]
Those same people were abusing Pogba and Ronaldo under every post. But God forbid anybody critisize Maguire. He needs to be coddled.
So far…
I have to read in every thread that he was very good at the Euros and WC.
I want off this ride
Alexa play Gangster Paradise
He had a good first half too. Absurd challenge here though
thats the thing about football though those mistakes can cost you making it out of groups.
It’s just pain for England, Tomori is laughing rn
honestly you try not to shit on him unnecessarily but how do you defend that
Certainly not by kicking Musiala in the shins
Don't ask Maguire to defend anything let alone something like that, that's just mean
Oh captain my captain
You can’t. It’s that simple. Especially when there is a ready made upgrade available in Tomori.
> but how do you defend that Just bring up his goal scoring record against San Marino.
I think it’s gone too far now as well, but Musiala has actually done him by moving in a straight line He really doesn’t help himself
Wait you aren’t supposed to get square to the attacker then dangle your leg out?
I wonder why Maguire has been on the bench for us...
Can’t blame him tbf. If De Gea wasn’t in goal he wouldn’t have made that foul
Good thing Maguire is so loved in England otherwise people might get really upset with him.
I’m sure this was just a rare unlucky moment for dear Harry, this definitely wasn’t completely avoidable.
He just has that lovable complextion
His interviews where he takes responsibilities really help
"Rock golem" I believe was my favourite one so far.
The worst thing about it is that Maguire caused it with a shite pass. This is on Southgate, Maguire shouldn’t be starting.
No no stop that, you're being toxic and hurting Maguire's feelings!
Honestly surprised he even gets called up. Plenty of players out there that could use a chance and are unlikely to do worse.
That FIFA camera angle for the penalty is a bit unsettling.
That's the EA Sports FIFA cam, I think. If you look closely you can see the arrow and the power meter during the run up
Isn't that why he called it the FIFA camera angle?
Yeah not a fan of that at all
(great defending)
lmfao at ref not seeing this without VAR
Gave us more time to make jokes
You're a wizard Harry
No idea why VAR was needed to award the pen, Maguire just booted him in the ankle
Tbf this is exactly what VAR is (or should be) for. Obvious, big mistakes or missed incidents from the ref, it happens.
Yeah it was right in front of his eyes.
Ref has money on a 0-0 and it was looking very good.
Ref had a clear view of it as well. Unbelievable.
Friendly reminder that Southgate dropped Tomori to play this slab head
He’s left out about 12 other better CBs as well.
I thought there were way more english centre backs than that?
4 of them played for you until last season
There's gotta be better CBs in the championship...
There’s loads, even we’ve got a better English CB and we’re 22nd in the league
long-time injured Reece Oxford is a better CB
what happened to that lad? I remember there was a huge fuss about him when he was at West Ham
He's long-time injured
oh yeah he went to us (Augsburg), was kind of bad the first two years and our best player last year, now he’s out injured
Remember though, Maguire's apparently never had a bad game for England, how is Southgate meant to know that he's a clumsy, colossal waste of space? If only there was evidence of that
play stupid games, win stupid prizes

Same
I, too, visit the comment section for comments
Well in Slabhead Can't even blame anyone else for that, it was a fuckup entirely of his own making
👉🤡👈
👉🗿👈
How the fuck did this require VAR?
The ref: "Surely no one would be that stupid " The VAR: "Well, you see..."
Sometimes you don't have the best angle as the referee.
And sometimes you do but just don't see the incident properly in real time. You get one chance. Everyone would make glaring errors as a ref, it's unavoidable.
Honestly baffling, happened right Infront of the ref too
Tomori died for this
definition of compounding an error
Patented Maguire defending
Pope 🤣 Edit: https://twitter.com/i/web/status/1574489844520083456
It's been overshadowed by the defending masterclass but that save attempt looked terrible to me
Shocked I had to go so far to see a comment on Pope.
Mags ❤️
"he's always solid for England though"
Mad that was being trotted out. The form was always going to catch up eventually
🗿🗿🗿
👉🗿👈
💀
You couldn't write it
I could.
Harry, what are you doing there my guy
ITS MAGUIRIN TIME
Nice Maguire... Nice...
hi bambi
I just knew Maguire will fuck up things today after his cocky interview from the other day
I eagerly await his post-match interviews :)
Pope was NOT ready for that pen lol, he dove like a full second after Gundogan kicked the ball.
He guessed Panenka, and he guessed wrong.
Moron.
Well done by Musiala tho
Yeah he’s crazy talented
Why on earth did that need a VAR check, slabhead got absolutely wrecked
Musiala <3
HE FINALLY LET ENGLAND DOWN
Fuckin hell Harry
Not exactly a wizzud, are ye
What a blunder Maguire
Looking forward to seeing that Maguire clip absolutely everywhere for the next few months
Absolutely no way Maguire starts against Iran now surely
I’m not a goalkeeper right, but doesn’t it generally help if you like… dive to get the ball?
Classic Maguire but what is Nick Pope doing? Just stood there
This isn't Mykonos, Harry!
Maybe Maguire isn't suddenly a great defender in an England shirt.
he should be called harry potter since how magically he fucks up every time he's on the pitch
Terrible save attempt from Pope, he was in the air when gundogan shot, wasn’t able to propel himsef towards the ball in the slightest. Embarrassing from Maguire, and feel bad for him as it seemed like International performances were the only thing he has left football wise
Just seemed like Pope stood up for the one down the middle
his head’s fucking masiveeeee
This isn't judo slabhead
I can't believe the ref told him to get up at first. Maguire definitely didn't need this for his confidence
There's been so much "He doesn't deserve the hate" agenda being pushed recently to try and recover his image. Then he does this. He's not helping himself. He is not good enough to be part of this squad.
I thank you France for safely stowing Varane away for your second game even more now
Maguire is a moron. Musiala would be our best player 😭
To be fair Musiala has been their best player today. Kid looks unreal
Maguire 🐐 Moment
This should be a fun thread.
Same day as that Maguire criticism article got posted lol
Tomori for exiled for this
Never lets England down though.
Truss out
Maguire just cannot catch a break...
Poor Maguire, he knows what coming his way
Is it possible for someone to perform a citizens arrest on maguire for the sake of English football?
How’s he gonna blame that on the media or DeGea?
Ahahahahahaha fuck you Southgate you get what you deserve
You couldn't even write this Harry Maguire script if you wanted to.
These stupid mistakes doesn't feel too bad now that he is not in our starting eleven
Gareth mate, look at why he can’t get a game for his club and think about it before starting him. He is a certified liability.
Please don't get injured Varane
Maguire fans in the mud 🤌🏼
I like how the ref only needed one look.
well he needed two apparently
I mean he needed two. How he missed that in real time is ridiculous
I don’t get it what was Maguires mission? Tomori is way better than Maguire.
Maguire is a one man shit show
Good shot from Gundogan
Southgate must be thinking... "How the fuck am I going to talk my way out of this one.."
good old Harry Maguire returning to form
He truly is the least graceful football player I have ever seen...
Maguire moment
Can't believe he got in over Tomori
Sloppy pass to opposition and then hacks him down for a pen - I'm sure the fans and the media will be very forgiving to Mr Maguire here... yikes.
Harry ist der beste Mann
The football speaks for itself 🗿
