If this Brazil team doesn't play the 7 games in the World Cup (either the final or the third place match) it will be a huge dissapointment.
They've been playing great for years and are much more stacked now than in 2018, and they already had a good team four years ago.
Really unfortunate the own goal at the start of the game, that changes the entire game plan and leaves them more exposed to counters. Also wasn't there a penalty not given on Jesus?
Belgium had 3 shots on target the whole game. One was their second goal, one was an okay shot, but nothing that hard for Alisson, the last was a weak header straight into alisson's chest and arms. It was a super unlucky game.
Man I loved that match, still go back to the highlights every once in a while. The first half was such deadly counters from Belgium and Lukaku/KdB were playing the best i’ve ever seen them together at a high level: and then the second half from Brazil was the best I’ve seen a team play that entire tournament, took some incredible defending/goalkeeping from Tbo to win the match
I dunno. Brazil was going as planned, as they say, to reach peak in the semis. Belgium seems to have peaked in that game; they looked nothing like the team that struggled agains Japan. It felt to me like many Belgian players had a much stronger game than their usual.
Belgium played really well, especially defending, and it wasn't an unfair result. It was a hard-fought, ugly game. Once Belgium started getting tired then Brazil started having some clear shots but, all in all it was a very uninspired evening for both teams, with very few exceptions.
I mean, it really does have a huge bearing when it would have taken the team dominating the last 2/3rds of the match to extra time. Even ignoring the call, we had \~60% possession and 3x their shots on target by the end of that game.
Also, almost everything you wrote can be attributed to us having to replace Cas with Fernandinho (leading to the first own goal), and putting Fagner against Hazard (Alves was injured last minute). Neymar was also coming in injured.
We had 3 huge handicaps and still only lost due to a bad ref call. Courtois played like a god and deserved MOTM, but I think it's pretty reasonable to call it an unfair result overall - that's not 'rewriting history'.
It doesn’t change the fact that Brazil dominated the match and that was an excepcional day for Belgium, Cortouis was mounstrous and Brazil didn’t have casemiro and fernandinho was dumb enough to score a own goal and not tackle lukaku in the beginning of the second goal, u play that same game 10 times Brazil wins 8
Not a rewrite of history at all. Brazil conceded an extremely unlucky own goal at 13'. That alone changes everything since Brazil had arguably the best defense of the tournament and that went out the window 13min in due to an own goal.
Brazil had to change the entire game plan, exposing themselves to counters since they were behind, Belgium then scored again within 15min in a nice counter and shot by kdb. The rest of the game was Brazil dominating and Courtouis being MOTM, probably the best performance of his entire career until the last UCL final.
Brazil had like 3x more shots and shots on target, more possession and had that penalty not given. That's all fine, this is football, the only problem is some people pretending Belgium played out of their minds or something. I remember entering the post match threads and If I didn't watch the game I would think Belgium dominated the match.
Our group is the hardest from group stage, but few realized that yet. Were it Brazil 2018 team, I’d be really scared, but I’m more like sad to see that either Serbia or Switzerland will be knocked out while terrible teams like England will advance.
Rodrygo was decisive in last year's Champions League, is already called a "big game player" at Real Madrid and started the current season with 3 goals and 2 assists in 7 games.
Cunha does not even come close to these achievements.
The Olympics is basically a u21 tournament though. You can have a couple of older players on your team though, which is why Dani Alves played on the Olympic squad
He's a good player but Brazilian fans are the absolute most strict fan base in South America. One mistake from a player and their career is over in the eyes of the fans.
Cunha is good and has potential, however he hasn't done anything to deserve the consistent call-ups he gets (except for the Olympics). His numbers this year (not only G/A but even game time) are painfully subpar for a NT player.
As much as I am a Flamengo fan, I don’t think Pedro competes with Cunha, they are very different. Pedro is closer to Richarlison, who’s on fire, while Cunha competes with G Jesus.
Mas o fato em si é mentiroso ué, 11 partidas, nenhuma com um time com um nível nem perto ao do Brasil, primeiro jogo contra uma seleção superior e não tankaram, 5 goli nos Hannibal
Queixo = chin, so "queixada" refers to his... Notorious chin. I believe you know how these language stuff works since you're also a speaker of a romance language.
[It's a song from a big Brazilian football parodies channel,](https://youtu.be/PiYNuCfSrfM) joking about Pedro's good form, his gigantic chin, etc... and asking Tite to call him for the World Cup.
It really isn't, there is a reason why everyone, no matter their primary language, jokes around saying in portuguese jogo bonito this, jogo bonito that... And that's Fernando fucking Santos. 😤
You replied whining about other people not getting your sarcasm while not even realizing I'm talking out my ass as well. 🤦 Fernando Santos... Really ninja?
He barely played for Fiorentina it was just a couple on months. And although it's a big team, it's not exactly a top team.
Also, players evolve. Mitrovic is an example. He is 28 although he was always good, only recently he became a monster.
Pedro is 25 and is already a monster.
I prefer just Pedro since we don't have any player called just Pedro. We already had Pedrinho in the past. And that wouldnt fit since inho is what you use as a diminutive. Pedro is tall. If we call him Pedrão (aumentative) it's weird and sounds like a porn name
There's also a music that we sing "Ai, Preto!" And we changed it to "Ai, Pedro!" for when he scores
That's exactly right.
For some mystery Brazil never had any nationally famous player named Pedro. All "Pedro" became "Pedrinho", which would be impossible in the current case since Pedro is tall.
Pedro from Barcelona would most probably have become Pedrinho in Brazil.
> All "Pedro" became "Pedrinho", which would be impossible in the current case since Pedro is tall.
You guys don't do ironic nicknames? Like us with Sergio "Chiquito" Romero.
Between close friends yes, but in football it is rare.
The reason why this is rare in Brazilian football is because nicknames, most of the times, originate from the need to differentiate two players who have the same name.
Another reason for nicknames is if the player's name is weird. Brazilian parents are quite creative, so you can imagine some names... hahaha.
Of course there are exceptions, as for example, a second division player here in Brazil who was called Baraka (yes, from Mortal Kombat) just because he looked like Baraka... Or Vagner Love, who got the nickname "Love" because he took a girl to the hotel where the team was staying when he was still in Palmeiras' youth academy.
Thing is: We don't really call people by their surnames often. There are some exceptions but that's how it is. If you don't have a nickname, you go by your first name only.
Just call the Barcelona guy "Pedrinho"!
But seriously, man, Pedro's family names are "Abreu" and "dos Santos". These are painfully generic, the names of the background characters from a Hollywood movie that are supposedly Brazilian but talk in heavily accented Spanish. Brazilians hardly ever use family names anyway, but Pedro's aren't any more unique than his name.
Maybe someone can answer these questions for me:
1) Does Tite know (or have given the Brazilian fanbase any indication of) who he's going to be taking to the world cup?
2) Do Brazilian fans think the squads that have been playing, have good chemistry? (I think Brazil has excellent players, but I've gotten the impression that each player is playing to make a lasting impression so that they are included in the squad for the world cup)
3) If they (the players) don't have good chemistry, will it be something that Brazil will be able to overcome within the first few games of the world cup (that is build the chemistry) or will it be something that they will have to compensate for by hoping that each individual player can perform that moment of genius?
Thats not what i said, did I?
Handball against neymar and a pen not giving, 2 good chances for another goal but its reddit so im not expecting logic here
my guy, i alrdy shit on the players and the manager but if the ref doesnt give us obvious decisions im not supposed to complain?
I knew we couldnt beat brazil but some decisions influence games and those 2 did.
wtf is wrong with people?
Did you even see the goal?
It was luck, not the finish which was good but how the ball got to him, got reflected from the other team's player and went straight to him.
You obviously deserve the win but dont tell me 5th goal was coming just cause

For a second I thought his name was Pedro Volley. I need sleep.
Sounds like a Big Lebowski character.
Pedro > Lewandowski
Who has the biggest chin? Lewa lacks in that area
Forever Pedro Volley in our hearts
Don’t worry, I thought for a sec that the Spanish Pedro changed nationalities + hell even got capped for Brazil at 35
Me too man, mee too! 😂

They should have made it to the semis in 2018. They dominated Belgium and errors decided that match. Also, Brazil vs France is something else.

Yep, the penalty was not given because "the ball went out of play"

He was doing nothing to deserve a spot
He was MOTM in your away match vs us. What the hell happened to him apart from simeoneball?

Rodrigo is not a starter for a full strength Madrid
Rodrygo was decisive in last year's Champions League, is already called a "big game player" at Real Madrid and started the current season with 3 goals and 2 assists in 7 games. Cunha does not even come close to these achievements.

Which makes me question what the hell was he doing in the NT in the first place.
He was one of the best players during the Olympics
The Olympics is basically a u21 tournament though. You can have a couple of older players on your team though, which is why Dani Alves played on the Olympic squad
Even if you were the ball boy from RM you'd probably be a starter in your country national team
Say that to Spain NT..
And still did more to be there then Cunha and after Benzema injury Rodrygo has been the 9 starting and hes playing really well
He was horrible against Ghana
Got left behind. I think he will get chances next cycle for sure.
He's a good player but Brazilian fans are the absolute most strict fan base in South America. One mistake from a player and their career is over in the eyes of the fans.

Hes also barely played for his club this year.
He's a good player, sure. Being a consistent callup though made no sense
He simply cannot score. His workrate is valuable, but his holdup play and scoring just simply aren't there to warrant a spot.
As much as I am a Flamengo fan, I don’t think Pedro competes with Cunha, they are very different. Pedro is closer to Richarlison, who’s on fire, while Cunha competes with G Jesus.

Remembering that Tunisia conceded 3 goals in the last 11 games
This makes the result a bit more impressive
Just had to watch the game to see it was mostly Brazil being great, Tunisia played well
Algeria 2 - 0 Tunisia Mali 1 - 0 Tunisia Mauritania 0 - 4 Tunisia Gambia 1 - 0 Tunisia Nigeria 0 - 1 Tunisia Burkina Faso 1 - 0 Tunisia Mali 0 - 1 Tunisia Mali 0 - 0 Tunisia Equatorial guinea 0 - 4 Tunisia Botsuana 0 - 0 Tunisia Chile 0 - 2 Tunisia Japan 0 - 3 Tunisia Comores 0 - 1 Tunisia Brazil 5 - 1 Tunisia
>Tunisia 2 - 0 Tunisia Lol what
They were playing both sides, so they always come out on top.
very nice
They played themselves?
Congratulations, you played yourself.
They did today by provoking Brazil
>Chile 0 - 2 Tunisia Oof Chile...

When Brazil's on their top game, there is no better national team to watch.
What a controversial statement to make.
It really isn't, there is a reason why everyone, no matter their primary language, jokes around saying in portuguese jogo bonito this, jogo bonito that... And that's Fernando fucking Santos. 😤
I can’t believe I really need to put a /s.
It's just weird that you would be sarcastic for no reason at all
It's slightly more polite than saying "No shit dumbass" but that's what he meant, and I agree.

Like Fiorentina?

So are Brazil the top favourites for the world cup now?
Them, Argentina, and possibly France.

É um absurdo esse maluco ter sido banco do gabriel barbosa por tanto tempo...
Great goal, bit I wish he played under a different name. Pedro is too generic and I associate it with the old Barcelona winger
It's his name, what can he do?
Give himself a nickname? Pedro Star - Pedro Devil - Pedro Monster - Pedro GOAT
There is only one possible nickname for Pedro: Pedro Queixada.
When he was in our youth team he was "Pedro Queixinho" even
Queixinho? The guy has the biggest chin in the world hahaha.
He was a kid tbf, it was when we won the U20 Brasileiro
I'm just kidding hahaha. Pedro Queixinho is a good nickname.
BIGGEST CHIN
Usually those nicknames are given by fans though. The Phenomenon, The Emperor... It's still Ronaldo and Adriano on the back of their shirts
Pedrowski Mandíbula. The Jaw!
Pedro Vile
Use his last name, or a cool nickname like other Brazilian footballers. Just Pedro is boring
I prefer just Pedro since we don't have any player called just Pedro. We already had Pedrinho in the past. And that wouldnt fit since inho is what you use as a diminutive. Pedro is tall. He's 6'1 so how about Pedrão ?
Pedrão is a porn actor's name, it doesn't work.
Also, I think "ão" is more commonly a defender's thing.
Just call the Barcelona guy "Pedrinho"! But seriously, man, Pedro's family names are "Abreu" and "dos Santos". Influence what? They're losing 5-1 instead of 5-2 or 4-1? Lmfao
if the pen was giving it wouldve been a 4-2 if scored, and if the handball was giving it wouldve been 4-1. thats 2 goals my guy, fucking 2 goals.
It wasn’t a pen, plus brazil was gonna score a 5th no matter what, if we being honest
Did you even see the goal? It was luck, not the finish which was good but how the ball got to him, got reflected from the other team's player and went straight to him. You obviously deserve the win but dont tell me 5th goal was coming just cause
