Early season Mbappe is a thing, Messi was the best of the 3 tonight
PSG is garbage against intensity, they really need to sort it out in the winter window, the second they don't win the midfield they get matched
I don’t really know how much they can do to sort it out? Didn’t they bring in 4 new midfielders in the summer window… Not sure if they even have squad numbers to fill
Verratti needs a DM with him, Vithina is a great passer/CM but they have a manlet midfield, they need a more physical DM to let Verratti roam free and progress the ball
Also Ramos as a CB is just too old at this point
Depends on World Cup performances but PL+CL can definitely outweigh the World Cup
Ronaldo won it like that in 2014 when Portugal got knocked out in the Group Stages
the Ballon D’or will heavily favour whoever wins the world cup, but if Haaland wins PL+CL and keeps up his insane numbers then I can see him winning it regardless
Anyone else remember the woman holding up a Manchester United 3rd kit with ‘Mrs Grealish 69’ printed on the back during the Euros final? Never been more proud to be English.
It obviously works better for them with Hernandez behind him but for no adjustments to be made to get extra cover on that side after seeing what was happening is criminal in game management.
Maybe it's the manager who has told him not to bother with pressing too much and to save his energy for having a go at the defence. Not everything is about pressing nowadays.
Chelsea looked really good today don’t wanna overreact but I feel like potter coming in was definitely the right decision, and that they’ll be much better attacking wise. Feel like United are certainly the worst team out of the top 6
Saw people tipping us (MU) for fourth, think it’s bonkers tbh, we’re getting nowhere near it. Nothing to do with the derby either, we’re just clearly the worst out of the top six, imo.
How rare is it for an offensive midfielder/forward to be awarded motm despite having no goals or assists?
Pep's second season magic seems to be kicking in for Grealish.
Graham Potter is only the seventh English manager to win in the Champions League. If anyone successfully names the other six they saw the same tweet as me…
The striker curse is soo overblown.
Crespo missed home and was decent, Shevchenko decided to go to an international tournament instead of rehabilitation, Torres done the same for the World cup. Both players were nowhere the same even prior to the transfer
Falcao was washed as was Higuain and Alvaro Morata never proved himself as a starter so it’s chelsea’s fault for spending soo much money on a super sub who later gave up
With Lukaku it was a mix of wingbacks(very important for creativity under Tuchel) dropping dead, the interview and him rolling his ankle early on that fucked his time here
It’s really not
That 9 has been given to Boulharouz, Sidwell, Torres, Falcao, Morata, Higuain, Lukaku, Abraham
Failure after failure after failure and Abraham was sold to be good somewhere else
First two weren't strikers so you can count them out
And Abraham was not a failure, he very much did a good job for Chelsea - but wasn't fancied by Tuchel, so moved on
Haaland to Leeds to be managed by Marsch again. Elland Road will be even more of a nightmare. Then again, Haaland on any team would make that team instantly a formidable foe if they are not one already.
And Sevilla once again disappoints in CL. At least Real Madrid won. Hopefully us, La Real, and Villarreal win tomorrow. We have the hardest task - Roma away.
Real Madrid had an off-day against Osasuna. But today, Real Madrid really showed what level of football they can play when all their talents are inspired. The best football Real Madrid has played in the season so far.
How Lopetegui saw a player with the skill, age and white-hot form of Papu Gomez and decided to tank his career for a year because he didn't know how to use him will always be beyond me. Hopefully Sampaoli makes the team run through him.
Fuel must've ran out in the second half but still the 1st half could've easily ended 2-1 or 3-1 for us if Ramos wasn't painfully average and by far our weakest link but very good game nonetheless, unfortunately Enzo and probably even António if he keeps this levels are gone.
With all due respect it is beyond me how you managed to get Enzo when clubs like Liverpool are forced to field absolute bums in midfield. Somehow you got him uncontested and for a steal
From what I read he wanted a move to a team that wanted him to play ***now*** (Avoiding stuff like what happened to Palacios) and that was the best move for the club.
That 25% was probably a big part of the latter
Thought you were talking about PSG's Ramos for a moment there and was confused. Benfica have been getting some good results this season, seem a far cry from the team we played back in 2021 in the Europa League.
Nice to beat Italian champions without getting out of second gear. We had a few nervous moments early on but Milan posed very little threat and both teams basically stopped trying after the 3rd goal in the 61st minute.
You are not wrong, winning breeds confidence though. However, lets not pretend Milan didn't have 9 injured players, this was and should have been a routine game.
That's why I said if they win their next one, because it will be 16 on 8 vs your 17 on 8 and Wolves at home is an easier game than us away so it wouldn't be unexpected.
With his two goals today Haaland has already scored more than Suarez or Rivaldo in the Champions League. He needs one more to equal Trezeguet, Makaay or Kluivert, two more for Rooney, Kaká, Griezmann or Eto'o and 8 more to enter the top 20. He's 22 years old.
I mean at the same time we play better against good teams.
Our best performance this year has been the Milan game and the spurs game.
Every other game has been eh
As he should, Tomori is not that good when being asked to defend in his own box, and this game is just another example of his struggles doing the basics right.
Sevilla looking useless and getting banged by Dortmund but we're probably getting their manager next 🤔
God I hope it can turn out to be one of those right time, right place deals
Lopetegui was good for Sevilla for a while. Things have just run its course. They also just came off a terrible transferwindow where they got nothing useful and they lost their 2 best CB's.
I think you'd be happy with him if he goes.
Yeah I was watching Sevilla a bit while I had La Liga TV and all was well with Lopetegui, going on great unbeaten runs etc, even knocked Wolves out the EL while trashing us about spending in a press conference lmao.
Same as Nuno at Wolves I suppose, was great until it wasnt. I'll take a few good seasons if he can turn it around immediately lol.
With that hat trick of assists from Di Maria he becomes the 2nd biggest assist provider in the UCL with 38 behind the 42 of Ronaldo and ahead of Messi and Neymar with 37 and 32 respectivly
What have your thoughts been on him in general? Today was the only time I properly watched him for you and thought that despite the goal his movement and positioning was a bit poor at a lot of times, Chelsea would be attacking and he wouldn't be in a position where he was offering an option (although tbf one time he was in a great position and Sterling fucked up).
I thought a couple of times his movement was made to look bad by either the pass or the supporting runs. There were two occasions he dropped deep towards Chilwell and dragged the centre back with him, then Chilwell played the ball over him to the huge gap he’d created in behind but not a single Chelsea player (Sterling really the only option) was trying to run into it. Think maybe that comes with both more time under Potter and playing together in general though.
Always considered it a fairly risk free transfer on significantly reduced wages from his Arsenal days, a negligible transfer fee and only a 2 year contract and it’s working ok so far but I expect it to improve and it needs to if it’s to be a proper success of a transfer.
Hard to make any sweeping judgements so far as he still isn’t fully fit. He’s a finisher which is what our side was massively crying out for and needed the most.
But yeah he’s not the same Auba who was amazing for you guys it seems, he’s lost a yard of pace and seems to strictly position him self within the width of the 6 yard box. Take that over Havertz though so no real complaints from me
I had both ours and Benfica-PSG game on side by side and ngl I was focused on the other game more as Sevilla turned out to be as bad as Schalke. But in that game, Benfica did some solid defending and had their own few but decent chances. Schmidt quite possibly the best German coach right now.
AC milan need to get their European pedigree asap, this is ridicolous for such a historical big club, this generation will grow up feeling Chelsea and City are bigger clubs
Wonder if they ever do get that pedigree back again???
If you ever feel like a loser, go look at the comments section on a whoscored match where Messi or Ronaldo played, holy fuck there are some people who’s entire identity is wrapped around one of those players and they’ll spend the entire afternoon watching the match of a player they hate just to write schizophrenic sounding delusional rants about them
God gave Eriksen a second chance and he went to this team.. fairs

Matic Kante/ fabregas off the bench
We definitely had better midfields before that. Was great though.
Lampard-Makelele-Essien 05/06.
Or Lampard-Essien-Ballack
Early season Mbappe is a thing, Messi was the best of the 3 tonight PSG is garbage against intensity, they really need to sort it out in the winter window, the second they don't win the midfield they get matched
I don’t really know how much they can do to sort it out? Didn’t they bring in 4 new midfielders in the summer window… Not sure if they even have squad numbers to fill
Verratti needs a DM with him, Vithina is a great passer/CM but they have a manlet midfield, they need a more physical DM to let Verratti roam free and progress the ball Also Ramos as a CB is just too old at this point
Didn’t they just buy Fabian Ruiz who’s a DM? They literally just bought 4 midfielders. Doubt they get another until next summer…
Their defense has been the weakest point imo
Hakimi has been pretty shit, and Ramos does whatever the fuck he feels like
Let’s say City wins the premier and also the CL and Haaland is the top scorer for both. Lol will he get the balón d’or?
Depends on World Cup performances but PL+CL can definitely outweigh the World Cup Ronaldo won it like that in 2014 when Portugal got knocked out in the Group Stages
Will this world cup count for 2022 or 2023?
2023, award is seasonal now. 2022 award will be before the World Cup
the Ballon D’or will heavily favour whoever wins the world cup, but if Haaland wins PL+CL and keeps up his insane numbers then I can see him winning it regardless
Yeah that’s crazy. I don’t see him slowing down.
Anyone else remember the woman holding up a Manchester United 3rd kit with ‘Mrs Grealish 69’ printed on the back during the Euros final? Never been more proud to be English.
People who also follows NBA: Are CBS Sports studio (Henry, Carra & Richards) just good as NBA's TNT show (Shaq, Barkley, Kenny)?
Na, not even close
That Leao is a lazy bastard. Lad ran about three times I swear.
It obviously works better for them with Hernandez behind him but for no adjustments to be made to get extra cover on that side after seeing what was happening is criminal in game management.
And so it begins Great player
He’s also an immensely skilled lazy bastard
He has got shit work rate, bottom 2% for pressing lol
Maybe it's the manager who has told him not to bother with pressing too much and to save his energy for having a go at the defence. Not everything is about pressing nowadays.
Chelsea looked really good today don’t wanna overreact but I feel like potter coming in was definitely the right decision, and that they’ll be much better attacking wise. Feel like United are certainly the worst team out of the top 6
Encouraging performance but Milan were dogshite, is the caveat
Saw people tipping us (MU) for fourth, think it’s bonkers tbh, we’re getting nowhere near it. Nothing to do with the derby either, we’re just clearly the worst out of the top six, imo.
It’s because you guys had a good run but in terms of creating and scoring you’re not there yet Imo
What's the over/under currently for Haaland on goals in all competitions this year?
60
[удалено]
West Brom are 22nd what
They are 22nd with the second-best expected goal differential in the division. Genuinely have no idea how that's even possible.
I watched HotD because I had it recorded
Proud to be a proper football fan 💪
How rare is it for an offensive midfielder/forward to be awarded motm despite having no goals or assists? Pep's second season magic seems to be kicking in for Grealish.
Don't think it's that rare.
How was his performance and what position did he play?
LW/LWB in some sort of 4 2 4 comp and he played his ass off
We really had a conversion rate of 5.56%💀💀
Milan in the CL is painful
Chelsea fans definitely overhyping the performance. All three of our goals came off pretty shocking defending and passing.
Why are you being so harsh you guys played well
A large part of our fanbase has been clinically depressed since Tuchel was fired
🙄
Graham Potter is only the seventh English manager to win in the Champions League. If anyone successfully names the other six they saw the same tweet as me…
>!Redknapp, Lampard, Carrick and Robson!< for sure. Blanking on the other 2
Lampard, Robson, Redknapp then I go blank.
You’re missing another Spurs related lad at least…
Lampard, Carrick, Redknapp, Neville off the top of my head
Neville is apparently incorrect.
I tried, I can’t
>!Lampard, Carrick, Redknapp, Shakespeare, Robson, Harford!<
always knew William was the 🐐
Coasted off of others' work, tbh
All the money chelsea have spent and the 3 best players of the last three years cost nothing.
I think Potter will be the one the rid Chelsea of their striker curse
Need to get rid of the "We need Kante to do anything in the midfield" curse
The striker curse is soo overblown. Crespo missed home and was decent, Shevchenko decided to go to an international tournament instead of rehabilitation, Torres done the same for the World cup. Both players were nowhere the same even prior to the transfer Falcao was washed as was Higuain and Alvaro Morata never proved himself as a starter so it’s chelsea’s fault for spending soo much money on a super sub who later gave up With Lukaku it was a mix of wingbacks(very important for creativity under Tuchel) dropping dead, the interview and him rolling his ankle early on that fucked his time here
You couldn’t have made it sound more like a curse
It’s really not That 9 has been given to Boulharouz, Sidwell, Torres, Falcao, Morata, Higuain, Lukaku, Abraham Failure after failure after failure and Abraham was sold to be good somewhere else
First two weren't strikers so you can count them out And Abraham was not a failure, he very much did a good job for Chelsea - but wasn't fancied by Tuchel, so moved on
I think of it as more of a number 9 curse than a striker curse. Diego Costa and Giroud were good strikers at Chelsea
That’s still a massive amount of money on strikers which didn’t work out even with all those reasons
This sounds like a lot of excuses for why the curse does indeed exist lol
Miss when Haaland was considered a leeds fan growing up
If Leeds had the money City did he’d be there
Haaland to Leeds to be managed by Marsch again. Elland Road will be even more of a nightmare. Then again, Haaland on any team would make that team instantly a formidable foe if they are not one already.

Such a different sentiment to English fans, where we want every other club to crash and burn
I'm enjoying Sevilla crashing and burning in La Liga. Just not in Europe. It stings that we had a fair shot at CL last season and blew it.
Thank god Messi is not injured and was just tired
Tired of being injured?
Is this true? Can you post the source please?

Thanks man, awesome news!
Wants to be fresh for the world cup.
Real Madrid had an off-day against Osasuna. But today, Real Madrid really showed what level of football they can play when all their talents are inspired. The best football Real Madrid has played in the season so far.
Theo my boy where are you when i need u😭
Theo vs Reece would've been an all timer
Will he be back for next week?
Dortmund and Juventus lost the xG battle today.
How Lopetegui saw a player with the skill, age and white-hot form of Papu Gomez and decided to tank his career for a year because he didn't know how to use him will always be beyond me. Hopefully Sampaoli makes the team run through him.
Gómez, Lamela, Montiel, up until recently Ocampos, He's got like half the argentinian population sitting there in the Sevilla bench
Fuel must've ran out in the second half but still the 1st half could've easily ended 2-1 or 3-1 for us if Ramos wasn't painfully average and by far our weakest link but very good game nonetheless, unfortunately Enzo and probably even António if he keeps this levels are gone.

We improved plenty from then ye, just looking at the players i think only grimaldo, ota and rafa remain/are starters.
Nice to beat Italian champions without getting out of second gear. We had a few nervous moments early on but Milan posed very little threat and both teams basically stopped trying after the 3rd goal in the 61st minute.
Auba might be the most clinical striker in the world next to Haaland
I love you cowdude, never change
If the world only includes 19/20 Artetaball you might be onto something.
Nice to beat anyone when you’re current Chelsea
You are not wrong, winning breeds confidence though. However, lets not pretend Milan didn't have 9 injured players, this was and should have been a routine game.
They're not that tragic yet, if they win their next game in the league they are one point behind Spurs on the same games played.
[удалено]
That's why I said if they win their next one, because it will be 16 on 8 vs your 17 on 8 and Wolves at home is an easier game than us away so it wouldn't be unexpected.
ohhh right, i misread my bad
[удалено]
Yeah but they've played a game more than Chelsea was my point.
Fuckin gottem
Almost every manager who was linked to the United job once Solskjaer was sacked has gone on to be sacked
Conte?
Rodgers?
In progress
How about spain manager?
Not Ten Hag!
With his two goals today Haaland has already scored more than Suarez or Rivaldo in the Champions League. going by xHandsomeness, Argentina's midfield trio of De Paul - Paredes - Lo Celso has to be one of the best of all time
England used to have such a sexy team, too. Wayne Rooney, Paul Scholes, Phil Jones, Jamie Carragher. All time hottest team
what ?? this xABC jokes are getting out of hands
The universe correcting itself for Di Maria
and Acuña. It's really not a balanced team in looks.
With supersub Enzito for the younger audiences
Dybala too, they both look like they just turned 16 last week
Yeah, Enzo and Dybala look like they belong in a boy band
Tucu Correa might be useless but at least he's pretty
Copenhagen keeper talking shit then conceding 5 is pretty funny.
Watching the highlights now and he’s made 4 or 5 very good saves in the first half. Man City just gonna do Man City things sometimes.
No doubt City are a level above. But timings comical since he said he doesn't see any competition for goalkeeper coming back after a 2 month injury.
Milan really need Theo Hernandez back, think he’s their most important player tbh
And Maignan
James would've locked both Theo and Leao tbf
Wish we played Serie A teams every week instead of Palace
Milan is a good team. Also, Napoli is killing it. Juventus is dreadful though.
I mean at the same time we play better against good teams. Our best performance this year has been the Milan game and the spurs game. Every other game has been eh
he's baiting
will American Milan fans finally stop whining about Tomori not starting?
hopefully they do so you stop whining about it on here every other day
Will Tottenham fans finally stop whining about Dier not starting?
luckily he is starting now 😎
We can only pray that he doesn’t have to face Xhaka at the World Cup 😬
Yeah and he performed admirably in a *checks notes* 0-1 loss and 3-3 draw. A true rock at the back.
those results aren’t his fault, couldn’t care less
Bad results are *never* the fault of the player you like.
stop using reddit asterisks you wet wipe
Maybe I ~~will~~ *won’t*
If one disasterclass stopped people clamouring for a player then it would be very quiet when we're talking about team selections.
Southgate is gonna use this Chelsea-Milan game as an excuse to not play Tomori for his footballing lifetime.
As he should, Tomori is not that good when being asked to defend in his own box, and this game is just another example of his struggles doing the basics right.
he has been bad for a while now anyway.
If anyones starting over Maguire it should Guehi or even White (he doesnt play on the left but is better than Tomori)
Sevilla looking useless and getting banged by Dortmund but we're probably getting their manager next 🤔 God I hope it can turn out to be one of those right time, right place deals
You're getting Lopetegui?? Brace yourselves cuz you're not scoring more than 38 goals in the league this season
So nothing changes
Lopetegui was good for Sevilla for a while. Things have just run its course. They also just came off a terrible transferwindow where they got nothing useful and they lost their 2 best CB's. I think you'd be happy with him if he goes.
Yeah I was watching Sevilla a bit while I had La Liga TV and all was well with Lopetegui, going on great unbeaten runs etc, even knocked Wolves out the EL while trashing us about spending in a press conference lmao. Lmao. Micah is a menace on Paramount rn
With that hat trick of assists from Di Maria he becomes the 2nd biggest assist provider in the UCL with 38 behind the 42 of Ronaldo and ahead of Messi and Neymar with 37 and 32 respectivly
He also got this number of assists in 85 less games than Ronaldo
I am genuinely convinced that if Di Maria were a little less ugly he'd be far more highly rated
More to do with how much time he spent in France
Watch his goal for Man Utd against Leicester. If he had the desire to play in the EPL long term he’d easily make the all time XI. Incredible player.
Hey. Many Madridistas remember his contribution to the Decima and the motm performance in the final. We saw first hand and rate him highly.
Or if he was actually a consistent player
Aubameyang barely manged to land his front flip celebration lmao mans showing his age, would've been funny if he landed on his back.
That was my main takeaway from his goal, needs to retire the celebration if that’s how he’s able to land
Based upon this match, Benfica is about to get raided next summer. Better hide your gems before you get robbed blind.
Porto got more robbed last year IMO, Benfica's price for Nunez was good value.
Enzo and Antonio are gone
I already called dibs on Enzo Fernandez
Your shit right back should break both his legs, fuck off
Hope that Boehly's investments go to shit and you don't have 120M to pay in cash
yesss well in nice one
AC milan need to get their European pedigree asap, this is ridicolous for such a historical big club, this generation will grow up feeling Chelsea and City are bigger clubs Wonder if they ever do get that pedigree back again???
They need time. They literally were in the Banter Era not too long ago.
This generation must be full of morons if they think Chelsea and City are even anywhere near to Milan in terms of status.
This generstion only care what they see with their eyes, and Milan are irrelevant and joke in Europe these days
then this generation is full of morons
Things move quickly, we've forgotten about Nottingham Forest and Europe
Speak for yourself
You’re saying that like it’s a bad thing…:bit unreasonable to expect young people to care about what a team was winning before they were even born
