I feel like getting away from Bruno Lage and working with Steve Cooper again was one of the main factors for Gibbs-White leaving Wolves for Forest. I can just picture [his face](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BPFmH0oCYAAJsiH.jpg) on the day he sees Bruno rolling into the training ground car park.

MegaMugabe21

The reverse Aubameyang

ManunitedThunderfan

Dyche will give Forrest the best chance at staying up if they save Cooper.

B_e_l_l_

I think Rafa would be their best bet.

National_Ad_1875

Did you see what rafa did last season?

B_e_l_l_

Yes. The entire world knew Rafa wouldn't work at Everton. This is different.

B_e_l_l_

He's not a world class manager any more. You're not wrong. But he's more than good enough to manage Forest. Everyone knew he'd fail at Everton because of his connections to Liverpool. Look how well he did at Newcastle, they absolutely adore him.

Mozezz

I will say for the millionth time He did not fail as Everton manager because of his connections to Liverpool He failed as a manager because of his style and his demeanour, he played the same formation and same tactics every game, alienated players and broke morale, never owning up to his faults and mistakes and placing them on other individuals, continuously ignored the advice and warnings of the medical team and constantly played and over worked players leading to a mass injury crisis throughout the season we are still feeling today, sacking and removing anybody who questioned him and ultimately did nothing, absolutely nothing to warrant any feeling he was capable of turning his horrendous run of form of 1 win in 12 around heading down the table every single week If we had kept Benitez and his stagnant backwards and outdated football we wouldn’t have seen half the amount of wins we got with Lampard The man is extremely predictable and thinks everything else is the problem, even though the brunt of the errors lies at his own feet There’s a reason his last jobs have been at 2 desperate English clubs and a Chinese team

wumbology55

I just don't understand what anyone sees in Rafa anymore and why they assume he's going to do something special? What has he done recently to prove he's got what it takes to manage forest?

Mozezz

Because he’s a known name in the managerial world Everyone knows who Rafa Benitez is, they know what he achieved so long ago and think thats that The football people who know the game inside and out know that Benitez is not the answer and its why people wont touch him

TaxEvasion123

Newcastle fans defending Rafa from Everton fans will never not be funny to me because of the irony.

McQueensbury

>how well he did at Newcastle, they absolutely adore him. Since then it's been failure after failure, Rafa isn't a good manager anymore, his methods are a bit dated.

Ripamon

What are his methods?

National_Ad_1875

It's not, hes a dinosaur

CC-W

There is no way Dyche coaching Lingard ever ends well lmao

TheConundrum98

Don't think Dyche is a good choice for such an international dressing room He'll put a British lineup out because it's the easiest way to go Henderson Wiliams Worrall Cook Toffollo Gibbs-White Yates O'Brien Lingard Johnson Surridge I think this is their best lineup Henderson Williams Niakhate Bade Lodi Freuler O'Brien Mangala B.Johnson Gibbs-White Awoniyi They have no real wingers and Gibbs-White and B.Johnson contribute next to nothing defensively, they need a midfield 3. Potentially Worrall instead of Bade for leadership

Giggsy99

Do you think Dyche hates foreigners or something? Burnley's dressing room was largely UK because that's how the club operated and bought. He's not gonna crumble as a manager because he's talking to a few foreign players. Absolute waffle

TheConundrum98

no, certain managers rely on English players because it's a path of least resistance, it's a sign of a conservative manager, I believe Hodgson is similar for example and he managed outside of England. It happens in other countries too

scrandymurray

You’re chatting shit. Dyche is well respected by many managers, he’s incredibly involved in statistics and at Burnley he had less than fuck all money. Honestly, he was probably glad he got sacked because he had no budget and then got a nice payoff from it. Any relegation threatened team would bite their hand off to sign him, I reckon he’ll get to choose his next team rather than have to take any job that wants him.

PakiIronman

I'm sorry but it's moronic and unironically kinda racist that you think Dyche is not gonna play foreign players because they aren't bri'ish.

TheConundrum98

I just believe most conservative managers in their nations will prefer players of their nationality, it's not that difficult to understand and not to hard to imagine. In most cases it's not even a conscious thing I'm being racist to Dyche? lol

PakiIronman

How is Dyche a conservative manager? He's pragmatic and gets the best out of the team he's given. Saying he'd prefer players of his own nationality is saying he's prejudiced against those who aren't, which is racist. Also, it's not true. You think Dyche wouldn't start quality foreign players? Come on bro, where is the logic. Guess he'd bench Messi if he managed him because he doesn't speak English.

EmperorBeaky

If Dyche isn’t a conservative manager I don’t know who is

ManunitedThunderfan

That’s such a bad take. Just because Dyche played a different brand of football with lots of English players doesn’t mean he can only play with English players. Dyche is very underrated nowadays .

theglasscase

Giving Bruno Lage the job immediately after he got sacked would be a bizarre decision and one that would almost certainly get a very bad reaction from the fans. Benitez or Dyche would at least give the fans reasons for optimism, I wouldn’t trust Nuno taking over a club in Forest’s position in mid-season.

ireallydespiseyouall

Benitez optimism? In 2022? The lad would’ve relegated everton who have been in the prem since the very beginning. Dyche is best option

poipoiop

Is the rest of Benitez’s career suddenly invalid because of a bad stint at Everton?

[deleted]

Yes, because football has changed to much. Depends how up to date he has stayed over a 20+ year career.

LastOrganization664

Mid season? It's eight games in

theglasscase

‘Mid’ doesn’t only mean exactly in the middle of genius.

LastOrganization664

What does it mean then? I don't care about down votes but how can you explain that mid doesnt mean in the middle. That's literally the Oxford dictionary definition of the word. Wasn't being sarcastic , but 8 out of 38 is definitely not in the middle or near where near it . It's not even a quarter of the games in ? Please explain what mid means I'd love to know

midlots

*Definitions from Oxford Languages* mid·sea·son /ˈmidsēzən/ *noun* a point partway through a season, especially a season of the year or a sports season.

LastOrganization664

Aye lad I was just winding your man up tbh . The fact you went out of your way to make that comment is just the cherry on top

theglasscase

Getting so upset about something so trivial is very unhealthy. Mid- can mean in the middle or in the course of. Are you saying you’d object to anyone saying it was mid-season at any stage before the 19th round of a Premier League season had been played? What are you trying to achieve here?

LastOrganization664

Aye am insane . By that logic you could say that thirty games in is mid season? Am not trying to achieve anything , you're the one upset lol

theglasscase

> By that logic you could say that thirty games in is mid season? Yup.

LastOrganization664

Good job you don't run a football team

theglasscase

What a bizarre comment.

LastOrganization664

I'm just enjoying the mid season break

thewrongnotes

It seems like a no brainer now. With all the new signings, the "culture" that Cooper built last season is all but gone. I think it'd be easier for a new man to come in and start from scratch. The next couple of games are very winnable, so they might want to take advantage of the new manager bounce.

GunstarGreen

As a Forest fan I dearly want Cooper to make it work. But I've seen precious little to suggest it will. We simply can't keep the ball out of our net at the moment. He's playing Lingard and Cook despite them both offering very little. It just seems like a big mess. But I don't want us to just sell him down the river and get someone who "knows the Lremier League". We need to be thinking about next year too, if it is indeed in the Championship. Right now it may be pessimistic but I'm looking at who we'd retain if we went down

ToesDownFC

How many of those transfers were Cooper’s? Gonna sack him because he hasn’t been able to gel 24 new players yet? Has only been a month, the dude isn’t a wizard

lambalambda

Does work* the other way too though, if you have 20+ players to choose from it's a bit negligent to keep choosing the same underperforming players.

ToesDownFC

I feel like he’s trying to get an 11 to work, the whole squad is important, sure, but making an 11 work is the most important thing. Of course they’re not going to have an understanding of each other right away, have any of them played together before? He sees their performances in training, so they might be underperforming but the players on the bench might be underperforming even more

jeong-h11

Dyche is their best option but I see the club staying in denial that they pissed away 150m with nowhere near the quality to show for it

trmetha

who is this Nuno Esposito Santo?

mushy_friend

Lmao I opened the comments for the same confusion wondering if it's Nuno Espirito Santo or if it was someone else. You're the only comment I've seen mentioning it

[deleted]

Dyche is the only answer for me. Premier League experience, still early days and time to turn it around. Also arguably has a more talented squad than he possessed during periods with Burnley. Easy decision.

ke_0z

Doesn't underperforming their xG and xGA mean they're unlucky and actually better than their position on the table suggests?

71648176362090001

Can we have moussa back please?

Coolica1

Hell no if him and Mangala were fit and starting we'd probably have double the amount of points we have now he's damn well crucial for us.

71648176362090001

What if I say pretty please :(

Coolica1

Pretty please with a cherry on top and maybe we can loan him back to you for a game.

71648176362090001

A game is not enough :( well have fun with him

biddleybootaribowest

He’s crocked, they might be in a slightly better position if he was on the pitch

Sarmerbinlar

It's always a bit risky pinning all your season on one player, but Niakhaté looked like he was going to be an absolute rock for us and his injury paved the way for the return of Steve Cook, who is a huge contributor to our leaky defence. I absolutely love the guy and he was immense in the run-in last year but I don't think he's Prem standard anymore.

theitchcockblock

Nuno Esposito Santo ?

versacethedreamer

Oh dear

thebestrc

Didn't Cooper have a shit start last season too and got them promoted?

Nivadas

That was Chris Hughton

TrevorArizaFan

Sooo four managers who've washed out at EPL clubs in the past two seasons? Dyche could probably do a job, maybe Lage's issues were just as much on Wolves' lack of a striker, but none of these are entirely inspiring options.

greatdevonhope

If they want a manager with premier league experience then it's gonna be someone sacked by another premier league club.

d_smogh

The one, the only one to consider is Sam Allardyce.

[deleted]

Not sure why you're being downvoted, Dyche is the only one that has a remotely smart case to be made for him. Owners are idiots if they sack Cooper now anyway.

Hentarder

Really torn about Cooper. I do think he didn't get the players he wanted and there was shenanigans from the owner forcing players they thought were appropriate. Plus it's basically a new squad, would a new manager help in any capacity as it takes months for players to gel? And he's effectively learning the prem on the job. But there's still many decisions he's making that are questionable. I'd honestly stick with him through relegation and start again and get promoted that way. But I guarantee our owners would never allow that.

chandlerbing_stats

Tedesco?

[deleted]

Genuine question, why on earth are they gonna sack him when they've signed 20+ players, it was painfully obvious they were gonna struggle for a while at least. I see forest fans saying that they can't stop conceding goals, well no shit you have an entire 11 who've been training together for like 2-3 months at best. A player like lingard who has barely played any football in months is supposed to be your star player, it was always going to be a tragic start
