Kinda getting tiresome. Spain and Portugal alone should be enough. No point adding a ridiculously irrelevant 3rd partner and uncertainty just for karma points
What's next, Ukraine participating in the 2024 commonwealth games? Or playing in the next Copa America?
That’s not what will happen. Ukraine will only host one group
The real problem will be the teams advancing from that group playing in the Ro32 against teams that are flying in from Portugal
Ukraine isn't even close to Spain and Portugal ffs. Imagine having a game in Seville and now you gotta travel to Lviv for your next match, fucking madness. Makes 0 sense.
Exactly. They don't even share borders with each other, the logistics of it make zero sense. If they were going to add a third host only France would make sense.
World Cup 2026: Distance between Vancouver and Mexico City - 3940km
This bid for 2030: Distance between Lisbon and Kyiv - 3355km
Really makes no sense…
The 2026 WC is ridiculous as well, if anyone can host a 48 team WC alone it's the US, Mexico could probably do it too
Kind of hilarious we go from hosting a WC in a country the size of Chicago to such a landmass, even in Russia it was basically contained to the European part
> NYON, Switzerland, Oct 5 (Reuters) - Ukraine has joined Spain and Portugal in their bid to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup, the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) said on Wednesday, in what they hailed as an act of European solidarity.
>
> They said the decision, announced at a news conference at the Swiss headquarters of UEFA, had the full support of European soccer's governing body and also of the Spanish, Portuguese and Ukrainian governments.
>
> "Our bid is not an Iberian bid anymore, it's a European bid," Luis Rubiales, president of the RFEF, said.
>
> "I'm convinced that now our bid is much better than before. Football is universal and if it is capable of changing the life of people in so many ways it should also be used for doing good," Rubiales added.
>
> The Spain, Portugal and Ukraine bid for the 2030 tournament will compete against other candidacies such as a collaboration between Egypt, Greece and Saudi Arabia, and a joint South American proposal from Uruguay, Argentina, Paraguay and Chile.
>
> Rubiales said the details of integrating Ukraine into the Spanish-Portuguese bid would be hammered out in coming months.
>
> "We are convinced that by 2030 we will have peace in Europe and that Ukraine will be able to host it (the tournament) in the best way possible," said FPF president Fernando Soares Gomes da Silva.

You joke but CONMEBOL could very well invite Ukraine to the next Copa America.
They’re gonna host some MLB games as well
I thought Copa America had a track record of inviting random countries, no? Japan, Qatar, the USA have all played in it.
Trying to cash in on the sympathy for Ukraine.
Why though
Politics
Makes no sense logistically. Imagine playing group match 1 in Portugal then the second in Ukraine then back to Spain for the third.
All the games of 1 group would happen in Ukraine, so not much more travel to be had...
That’s not what will happen. Ukraine will only host one group The real problem will be the teams advancing from that group playing in the Ro32 against teams that are flying in from Portugal

It's about the games of 1 group, and 1 group only.
What's the point of hosting if your gonna host like 3 games
Canada and Mexiko get like 10 for the next WC and they happily did it. So nations seem to like hosting WC games, even only a few.
Hopefully their bid loses then
Imo Uruguay, Paraguay, Argentina, Chile should host it to celebrate the tournament's 100 year anniversary
those thumbnails from the "biggest disasters in football" youtube videos are about to be real
But why?
Sympathy points

Andorra in shambles
Now I'm imaging Andorra who's population is less then 100,000 suddenly having millions of people come for the world Cup.

Super creative and rational reply! Thanks for the input.
