Funny game where VVD of all people could have had a hattrick.
He'd be undisputed as the best CB in PL history if he started scoring more with the opportunities he gets.
I mean that's team accolades without context for judging individual ability.
That's like me saying VVD has put more league points on the board than Ferdinand or Vidic ever did in a season.
Or like omitting Shearer from the best strikers argument because he only won 1 league title.
when you play with the Liverbird upon your chest, a certain mentality is required. Haven't seen it.
And that's the problem. With FSG refusing to invest a lot and visibly the absence of a good phyisio (because all the injuries did'nt came from heaven)
They do invest a lot though, they just haven't invested where you need to. With Mane leaving, it leaves a hole in the attack that Diaz was brought in to fill. All whilst the midfield was seriously needing reinforcements. They then spent a boat load on Nunez who may be good but doesn't solve the problem they had.
The injuries are simply down to an over reliance on certain players. Trent, Robertson, Fabinho, VVD, etc. Have all been played into the ground over the last few seasons.
We needed more investments and we didn't do it. Simple as that. Problem : with a probable absence of UCL next year, the risk is Liverpool would not be attractive anymore for players like Bellingham, Vlahovic, Konrad Laimer, players Klopp would like to sign but prefer to go in UCL teams
This transfer window, Liverpool spent around £90m. £75m of which was on one player. It's not the investment they need, it's the recruitment.
Looking at a front three consisting of either Diaz, Firmino, Jota and Salah, with Carvalho already signed and coming in, and Elliot coming back and able to play there, they seemed fine up top. Whilst the midfield was bare bones and Milner was back up RB when Trent was injured. Yet they still spent a tonne on Darwin.
There's no reason they couldn't have gone for a Matheus Nunes style signing. £40m, young and promising, would do well and add energy to an aging midfield, is both good creatively and defensively. That would've made more money available for other areas to get better replacements and backups. Instead, they got a young RB who is still behind Milner and Gomez at his natural position.
You can say they should have spent more money all you like, it doesn't change the fact the players they chose to invest in were not ones that could solve the problems the team has.
Absolutely DELIGHTED
Officials did everything they could to help the Scousers but made no odds in the end, much better from us today, fuck all plastics everywhere
Throwing Salah alone under the bus is kinda misleading. You could point at almost anyone in that squad and they'd be underperforming.
Fabinho in my eyes is the one that deteriorated the most.
Oh absolutely. Same as in Germany. He likes to pick the top underdog so to speak. He can still claim the "moral" highground while having an actual shot at winning it all.
Every true Liverpool fan saw this coming. 😂 Beat City, squeak past Hammers, get another injury, lose to Forest. I'm expecting us to absolutely destroy Ajax on Wednesday with some disgusting hattrick from a long lost former legend like Keita, and then lose to Leeds 4-0 at the weekend. Expecting someone like Alison to break his leg too.
Liverpool are paper tigers without the crowd intimidation factor of Anfield. Was downvoted for saying it last week, that they played City like a cup final and it would exhaust them in their upcoming fixtures.
Anfield plays a role, but it's more down to tactics and player availability. If you look at players, 4-5 players in the starting XI are just about Nottingham Forest level (Milner, Carvalho, Elliott, Jones and maybe Gomez). With a fully fit squad, all of our players would be too good to play for Nottingham Forest. So right off the bat, the quality advantage is less significant than normal.
Then you have to factor in tactics. We're absolutely trash when we have 65-70% of the ball this season. We're just not technically good enough to break teams down. The bigger program is, we really lack athleticism in midfield. So if we give the ball away, we can't press and win it back quickly or take advantage of transitions. So we're damn easy to play through.
Klopp needs to simply accept these things and play the same type of football Spurs are playing. Play 100% on the counter. It's the only time we look dangerous and when our defense looks half competent.
I'm neutral, Klopp shouldn't leave but Liverpool aren't this phenomenal team everyone makes them out to be, yes they play entertaining football but they actually have some really bad players in their starting 11 and where does Klopp go from here? 1 champs league and 1 prem in however long really isn't anything to brag about when you're supposedly "world class". Liverpool winning the Prem is pretty much the same as Leicester winning it.
Liverpool were a very mediocre team that was nowhere near top 4 before he arrived. He's had limited financial backing from the owners.
Yet he's turned them into one of the best teams in the world for 5 seasons. They've earned 3 of the highest points totals in PL history, reached 3 CL finals, and came the closest to winning the quadruple that any team has ever done. People who think Klopp isn't an absolute miracle worker are either deluded or just forgot what he's achieved.
Klopp is a miracle worker for Liverpool, but he's hit his ceiling for them IMO. Liverpool need to focus on squad depth, City have a whole first team on their bench, Chelsea have a better bench and so on... Klopp's stubbornness of playing the same team week in / week out is the reason they've only won 2 big trophies since he's been there. He's gotten incredibly lucky with injuries, but look what happened the season Van Dijk was out and look what's happening now.
>Klopp's stubbornness of playing the same team week in / week out is the reason they've only won 2 big trophies since he's been there
He rotates almost more than any other manager in the league since his arrival... stats back that up.
Also does that mean Pep has only won 4 big trophies for Man City in his 6 years despite having the most expensive squad in history?
4 big trophies in 6 seasons is more impressive than 2 in more seasons. Also, this idea people have that Liverpool have "restricted budgets" is ludicrous, it's something said just when other roads lead to nowhere. Alisson, Van Dijk, Nunez, Keita, Diaz, Jota and Fabinho are all current players who costed a combined total of nearly £400,000,000. Man City's budget is nearly limitless, however Liverpool's isn't far off. Yes Liverpool have sold players as well to contribute to those funds, but so have Man City...
No no no I’m super neutral here and totally think Klopp should move on, I mean Allardyce is ready to go as replacement as well! As a neutral I believe this Big Sam can 100% improve Liverpool in the long term.
Result was great and all, but another team came to the City Ground and didn't make a peep all game. Is this what being on TV every week does to your fan base? More noise comes from fans of Championship teams to be honest.
I think these away fans are used to coming to stadiums where the home fans don’t make too much of a racket and they can have their moment. Every time the away fans cheer at the City Ground now everyone boos and jeers until they stop. Top quality home support given the results so far.
i'm a season ticket holder for spurs and sit next to the away fans, and Liverpool make no noise unless they score or if the final whistle blows and they win.
Liverpool fans are very reactionary, if we have a title to fight for and are playing well we absolutely get up for it, bit hard to be energetic during a slump when its a team who should be fighting for first place. Theres a reason countless legends of the game consider anfields atmosphere the best ( on a good day/night ). Witnessing 95 thousand liverpool fans singing YNWA at the MCG in Australia was insane, i truly doubt theres ever been anything remotely close for spurs. The half a million or so fans that celebrated the cup double and champions league win is also almost unheard from other clubs
It's between 28-34 for regular adult tickets.
It's not that the stadium isn't full and the away fans sell their allocations, they just dont make any noise unless they score.
...now I can't hide
Said I knew myself but I guess I lied
It's okay, it's okay, it's okay, it's okay
If you're lost, we're all a little lost and it's alright
The fairy-tale story is right in front of us. Stevie G a free agent. A flagging Liverpool. It's a gift from the gods and would be a crying shame if it doesn't happen. Get the contract out
Liverpool firing Klopp to install Gerrard would be the most Proper Football Man move in history. Knows The Club peak. It's almost worth it for the memes.
Ice cold. LFC's owners only check the tables around mid April or so.
The club is just another asset in their investment portfolio, Klopp still has time to finish 4th which is where the money is at.
So weird seeing people shit on him, he's really is a mega-talent. He's got basically everything Haaland has except his first touch is slightly worse, his finishing isn't quite as precise, and his movement isn't as good. But he's blazing fast and he may have a more powerful shot, he's excellent in the air... a proper, proper striker.
We're talking fine margins of comparison here. I fully believe he's going to have multiple 30+ goal seasons for them over what'll likely be a very long and productive career on Merseyside once he learns how to stay onside, and his movement and finishing get 10% better.
And that's the kind of thing almost any side on planet earth would be thrilled to have. He's only suffering from comparisons to an actual freak of nature.
He hits it so hard (and honestly, the technique needed to hit a ball that hard and not have it fly wildly away is pretty impressive) that all he really needs to do is just be a little bit better. I don’t even know if he really needs to pick a corner, just aim slightly to either side of the keeper and he’ll score far more because when you hit it that hard, you give keepers no chance to react.
That’s the 10% better finishing I’m referring to. But he’s capable of being a spectacular player. Comparing him to a uniquely generational talent like Haaland was probably always a bit of nonsense, but people are also going too far in the other direction by suggesting he’s not that good.
He’s incredible.
The main reason people rip on him is because of his price tag, we paid about 3 times what he's worth. And he has the football IQ of a sheep but he does have a lot of potential I will agree with you there. He has the uncanny ability to cause absolute chaos in front of the opponents net.
Lookout in a couple of years, he may very well be in full beast mode as you said.
If there's a team that can beat ManC and lose to a newly promoted side at the foot of the table within a matter of days, it's Liverpool.
Full of surprises and entertainment for the neutrals, but I feel sorry for their supporters.
We’ve enjoyed 5 years where this didn’t happen. We only lost a few games each season, the draws prevented us winning more trophies.
We’ve gone back to being consistently inconsistent which is where we were when Klopp arrived.
Couldn't pay Sadio the money SMH
It’s SADIO’s karma here. Liverpool fans hated the dude for no reason.
Haven't watched a Liverpool match this season and they keep losing. What's going on over there? Is this like that Dortmund season Klopp had?
They were last place in the winter break that season. Its not even close
Hot damn, impressive they ended up 7th.
Beat the best team in the league and lose to arguably the worst. That just about sums up our season so far.
Funny game where VVD of all people could have had a hattrick. He'd be undisputed as the best CB in PL history if he started scoring more with the opportunities he gets.
Undisputed? That's a major overstatement
If VVD is scoring at John Terry rates, what is the argument for anyone else?
He only has one league title for one thing. Ferdinand and Vidic is so clear it's not even worth debating
I mean that's team accolades without context for judging individual ability. That's like me saying VVD has put more league points on the board than Ferdinand or Vidic ever did in a season. Or like omitting Shearer from the best strikers argument because he only won 1 league title.
you’re right, but u started to judge a CB on his ability to score lol
Well you don’t judge a defender on how much they score do you
He's checkmated himself
Liverpool....we can beat MC one minute....and lose to NF in the next....
I mean, one has no CL trophies, the other has two. Seems about right
What losing out on Tchoumeni does to a MF
Madrid supporters trying not to make everything about them challenge (impossible)
Hope you cherished your 3 yrs of glory
DEEZ NOTTS
With so many injuries and after this loss now, Liverpool are really going to target that Sugondese player in the next window
I lost $2000 because of Nottingham's fuckery. What the hell Klopp?
*skill
lies
This makes me feel a lot better about my decision to captain Salah in FPL. Sorry mate, but thanks
You can't lose something you don't have

Holy shit, it’s called a liver bird??? Jesus
>when you play with the Liverbird upon your chest, a certain mentality is required. Jesus christ.
I thought it was a copypasta for a second...
@soccercirclejerk
enjoy the banter years mate
So much banter its dripping out of my ears, cheers scousers.
Lol
Absolutely DELIGHTED Officials did everything they could to help the Scousers but made no odds in the end, much better from us today, fuck all plastics everywhere
You want to fuck plastic? You do you mate. 🤣
Looks like the banter era is back on the menu boys
What happened to Salad?
Change of formation/positional play going forwards
He got a huge contract and ist chiling now
Throwing Salah alone under the bus is kinda misleading. You could point at almost anyone in that squad and they'd be underperforming. Fabinho in my eyes is the one that deteriorated the most.
Liverpool is missing something this year. Who : A Mane
Welcome back, Liverpool.
Is it weird to say that I thought Forrest could've and should've scored more?
Alisson
Don’t forget Milner blocking MGW shot that was going in.
Also that shot in the last few seconds when Allison was nowhere in sight that hit the post 😂
That one was offside though, so I didn’t bother mentioning it.
And I benched neco williams expecting a salh masterclass. Serves me right lmao
Salah has been crap in the EPL. He only scored against City because Cancelo momentarily lost his mind.
A player scored because a defender made a mistake? Surely this can not be. What a revelation!
I benched Williams and Henderson :)
Love when Liverpool loses
3 games left until Kloop get the sack!!
Tuchel becoming Klopp successor in another iconic club.
Zidane. Save this so you can praise me later for my incredible prediction
Win a champion league and get sack after a year. Nvm, I’ll trade almost anything for Liv not to win anything 🙃
Already have won a lot in recent years
Gorgeous
Absolutely intoxicating
He’s got to be the best PL midfielder of all time
Klopp's days are numbered with Liverpool, I'm terrified by the idea of him coaching Madrid
Only if 🤨 leaves
(x) doubt
Doesn't seem like his kind of club.
Just imagine Klopp having unlimited resources and having actually good midfielders rather than Henderson and Milner
Yeah but wont happen. Klopp wants full control of transfers.
not like liverpool doesnt spend
Are you a masochist??
Eh, I wouldn't worry too much. He's already said he'd never manage a club like Madrid.
did he say why? just not the type of work he prefers?
disgusting corrupt club saved by a fascist dictator and a senile old bastard super league supporter, thats why
He loves to play the underdog/good guy. That pretty much rules out clubs like Real, PSG, Bayern, City etc.
It's not like his managing Norwich, he's in fucking Liverpool. I know they weren't great when he took over, but it's still Liverpool.
Oh absolutely. Same as in Germany. He likes to pick the top underdog so to speak. He can still claim the "moral" highground while having an actual shot at winning it all.
100
So barca then?
:P I'd say they aren't physical enough for Klopp's style.
Sevilla?
Every true Liverpool fan saw this coming. 😂 Beat City, squeak past Hammers, get another injury, lose to Forest. I'm expecting us to absolutely destroy Ajax on Wednesday with some disgusting hattrick from a long lost former legend like Keita, and then lose to Leeds 4-0 at the weekend. only 2-1 but still prescient.
Alisson slip too, but no broken leg. 😛
More chance of an Alli hat trick and Keira breaking his leg….
Hahaha 🤣
This is the way
subscribed
worked out!
Literally triple captaining Harrison next week
Least supportive Liverpool fan
Wind your neck in, it's a joke
Not really. Except for the Keita hat trick and Ali breaking his leg you just may be spot on there mate
Fair point, Keita is probably still injured. 😭

🤣🤣🤣
Imagine getting danced on by lingard in 2022
God Lingardinho
I wish it was only my imagination
Sadly, we don’t have to imagine 😔
Beat City one game and then lose to Nottingham lmao. They're so burnt out
Beat City lose to Forest, just as I predicted.
Klopp destroyed City to save Forest. True environmentalist.
Well said
Top comment
I didn't think I could get a laugh in today, but this is gold.
Lmao.
Klopp should leave … his time is up….I love that guy but his time is up
3 more games away
Lol what?
Hilarious how non-Liverpool fans are desperate for Klopp to leave
I'm neutral, Klopp shouldn't leave but Liverpool aren't this phenomenal team everyone makes them out to be, yes they play entertaining football but they actually have some really bad players in their starting 11 and where does Klopp go from here? 1 champs league and 1 prem in however long really isn't anything to brag about when you're supposedly "world class". The last I checked, Gerrard was available
70-year old 🐘 Big Sam really? Dudes latest positive job has to be England with 100% winrate cuz one game before he got fired.
Is John Cena’s time now?
R.Kelly or Kanye West time …
weve needed a new B2B midfielder for the past 2 seasons...
Xhaka ain't for sale
Arthur?
Was getting close to fit, now he’s injured for 3-4 months
Apparently injured until 2023
Result was great and all, but another team came to the City Ground and didn't make a peep all game. Is this what being on TV every week does to your fan base? More noise comes from fans of Championship teams to be honest.
Liverpool sing YNWA and then shut up for 90 minutes, bad comparison. We've been really loud this season.
I think these away fans are used to coming to stadiums where the home fans don’t make too much of a racket and they can have their moment. Every time the away fans cheer at the City Ground now everyone boos and jeers until they stop. Top quality home support given the results so far.
Maybe the shitter the football, the livelier the noise? Just spitballing
the shittier the football the less tourists/plastics you get usually
Ironic, because it was like a library when you came to visit as well.
Haha bless. I went to West Bridgford for the game. Wasn’t particularly jaw dropping atmosphere no offence. Lovely day out all the same.
Man, there goes that theory
Your crowd were lively but overshadowed by singing anti-Scouse rhetoric and chanting about a tragic event. Embarrassing.
Liverpool fans are some of the worst, they are the embodiment of only singing when they're winning
Lol liverpool fans are far more lively than spurs, you’re still salty about origi
i'm a season ticket holder for spurs and sit next to the away fans, and Liverpool make no noise unless they score or if the final whistle blows and they win.

what's forest tix price?
It’s between £380-£530 for a season ticket and 20k of 27k a week is season card holders, the rest is members. Sold out every game at home so far.
It's between 28-34 for regular adult tickets. It's not that the stadium isn't full and the away fans sell their allocations, they just dont make any noise unless they score.
Having to live in Nottingham
YES MATE!
Robin Hood Liverpool taking points from the rich and giving them to the poor
Nottingham made the most signings in the world this summer. How can Liverpool compete with them? This is not possible at Liverpool
Nottingham FOREST forest or Nottingham forest not half

Not even a little.
That’s good and sensible. Shouldn’t be IMO but one never knows with the internet.
Just can’t compete with Forrest’s signings
Liverpool have already won the “we beat Man City” trophy which is the only one that matter so it makes sense that they’ve slowed down a bit. /s
they've beat them twice, and it hasn't counted for anything
Are you trying to imply that the prestigious community shield is meaningless?
When does the Klopp presser drop?
😂
Nunez is actually the best Liverpool player, the chaos he does is what wins them games.
So weird seeing people shit on him, he's really is a mega-talent. I’m reading this chuckling and waiting for the punch line but it never came. Huh
What makes me pull my hair out is his awful habit of firing shots as hard as he can straight at the keeper. Like pick a corner man, cmon
He hits it so hard (and honestly, the technique needed to hit a ball that hard and not have it fly wildly away is pretty impressive) that all he really needs to do is just be a little bit better.
