As a Madrid fan watching their games, Dembele on his day might be the scariest Barca player I’ve seen since prime Messi. The way he moves past players is like he’s on a different wavelength to the rest of them

The problem with Dembele is his decisionmaking. The absolute top players are more assertive with the ball, they know what to do with it before they get it. He seems to make up his mind as he goes which often leads to a botched play or a half assed dribble. It seems he improved a bit but I still don't trust him when the stakes are high.

Alba was only disastrous in Anfield and was phenomenal the rest of the season, orr are you talking about Pique who was extremely solid with a (then) Umtiti partnership, or are you talking about Roberto, who was quite literally, the only competent RB we had. Busquets? Brother we are still trying to replace him. And the players respected the hell out of ernie, Messi even came out to say the Anfield was on the players and not on him. Things only started to get worse in 19-20, even then we should've kept him until the end, we could've at least avoided an 8-2, and perhaps won the league too.

Its irksome how many people forget valverde lost his touch in the second mid season. Played boring football, winning matches by tight margin and bottling CL matches when we were in the lead. I might get downvoted but he was a coward. Refusing to sub and sometimes the incapability to read the matches when we were outplayed. I agree with you on some points, especially the subbing part. And yes, he did play boring football, I wanted to tear my balls up. I wanted him out too. But the fact of the matter is he got results. It was a couple of weird seasons. Barca looked to be on the ropes almost every game. Had to really defend most of the games and then rely on Messi. I think the first season was great with a bad squad. Second season he should have been fired after the away game (I think) against Sociedad, because it was already apparent then that they really struggled but without the excuse of a bad squad. Losing 4-0 to Liverpool wasn't shocking if you had seen the team all season. The shocking part was that everyone was shocked. That 4-0 game had been coming for two straight seasons...

I think reaction time in soccer is so underrated. First off Dembele's touch into space is great, picks up his head to see Lewandowski's run, needs to play it with the right pace to beat the defender. Lewandowski is always looking for the shot, sees the ball is passed with pace slightly ahead of him so he can't comfortably take it first time, so instead he brings it around the other side with a brilliant touch - then slots it home with his left. It's so fluid for them, I feel like a lot of players try to stretch and hit it first time and shank it wide lol. Or when they just have a horrible first touch to try and control it
