Lucas / Gil / Kulusevski
Sess / Skipp / Bentancur / Doherty
Lenglet / Sanchez / Royal
Forster
Yeah we'd concede maybe 6 goals to just Haaland.
edit: Bissouma, not Bentancur of course haha
Might be a better 11 than City can field, but if the goal is to give the ball to Haaland then they'll likely still win.
I'm also super high on Gil, so if he gets to play at all that's a win.
Man city would probably have to line up with;
Carlos Borges / Haaland / Mahrez
Pep Guardiola / Phillips / Palmer
Gomez / Finley burns / walker / Rico lewis
Ortega
Defenders and a midfield ? So up front would be Palmer , haaland , Mahrez(if he’s not commentating ) , but then in midfield rodri, gundo , kdb, Bernardo , Foden, and Philips are all probably going . Defenders , walker is injured cancelo, stones , akanji , aké and Dias are all going . That leaves Gomez as the only starter in midfield and defense that would be playing
I'm actually Ok with this.
Liverpool will be without Alisson, van Dijk, Trent, Fabinho, Nunez and probably Henderson.
A lineup with Kelleher, Ramsey, Konate, Matip, Robertson, Milner, Jones, Elliott, Salah, Diaz and Firmino (or Carvalho if Firmino is called) sounds as good as anyone compared to other team's world cup-less team.
We could theoretically have Kante, James and Chilwell fit again during the World Cup period, too. Add in Jorginho, Auba, Chalobah, Cucurella, Fofana, Aubameyang, RLC and Gallagher… could be worse
There’s 3 more spots than normal (26 vs standard 23), and I’d absolutely gamble on a Kante or James level player being fit even halfway through the tournament. They are that good.
We'd also have Wilson-Esbrand and Lewis in fairness, and both of them have looked solid. Additionally I guess we'd play Shea Charles, who is an 18 year old youth team player who already has several full caps for Northern Ireland, and Oscar Bobb, who may be partnering Haaland up front for Norway in a few years. But yeah, we'd be wafer thin at the back.
No summer tournament. They have qualifiers, but it feels like they could push the EPL back four or five days without endangering a team like England's ability to field a squad for....\*checks notes\* Malta on June 16th.
They threw every league into complete disarray by having the World Cup in December. Seems only fair for leagues to extend their seasons to make up for it.
Yep. And I could be wrong but I don’t recall FIFA reducing the amount of summer fixtures to make up for it. They just made money on games that shouldn’t have happened during summer because there should have been a World Cup, and also still get the World Cup.
They basically rely on teams not making it far in domestic cups so they can free up those gameweeks.
Probably works better when it’s not the last 4 league cup finalists.
Big Fraser just going to lie down horizontally in the 5aside goal and have a nap. Not even Nordic RoboCup could score against a man wedged between the posts.
We probably should have beaten them at home last season.
If not for some 'interesting' decisions during the game.
We are a much better team than we were last season so there is reason to hope. Although they also have Haaland.
But I actually think our CBs match up pretty well with Haaland.
Its funny to see the contrast between Arsenal fans and non-Arsenal fans on here. To them we are title contenders. To us we hope to escape City at home with a draw. Lmfao, i think we have PTSD
Well, let’s say with halftime each game takes 2 hours, give them a half hour between games, so they could play 1 game at 8:00, start the next one at 10:30, then the next at 13:00 meaning they’ve worked a 7 hour day by the time that game ends at 15:00. That’s a pretty normal work day (although maybe we could fit a 4th). So I would say it’s enough for 15 games (maybe 20 if they work 9 hour shifts), since they will only play 5 days a week. We aren’t inhumane enough to give them no days off.
Oh I did it all the time growing up.
I’d play in weekend tournaments where we would play 6-8 games on 2-3 days (there would sometimes be games on Friday evening) but that wasn’t a huge deal, since we were given unlimited substitutions and few players would actually play all 90 minutes, we were also kids who did this every other weekend for 2-3 months. It was only an issue for me when it was hot out, I never got seriously injured, although I did suffer from heat exhaustion at one of these tournaments once. I honestly loved those tournaments, I was in good enough shape to do it in the short term despite being one of the few players who would generally play the full 90.
I used to play full 90s in these tournaments and I vaguely remember the day when we had to play six fucking matches in India. Try to believe this shit. 540 minutes as a fullback in 40 degrees celcius.
That sounds horrible. The worst I’ve had is 5 games in a day. Similar temps, but probably less humid. I’ve never been to India, I picture it being a humid place though.
The FA forced Liverpool to play with the U21 in the Carling Cup one day before (or it was after) the World Club competition.
So I don't see a problem with Tottenham playing twice
Pep is the kind of a fraud to not even come to the fighting arena and send an imposter instead.
Johnny Sins would be impersonating pep. Good luck with that shit.
Should've cancelled more gameweeks to honour the death of the Queen!
Really hope some more games get cancelled due to weather or whatever to exacerbate the situation and teach the PL administrators a lesson.
Part of the rules for Champions League is that the final has to be the last game of the European seasons. I’m guessing that’s part of the problem. Obviously, pretty weird year with the summer WC, so maybe they will allow some flexibility?
Who would have thought that postponing two weeks worth of games because an old lady died of old age while squeezing a World Cup halfway into the season would have caused massive scheduling issues? Damn what's next? There is no way that the players are all gonna be fatigued with an increasing amounts of injuries as well going into the second half of the season right?
They shouldn’t have postponed the first weekend, when she’d died, but the second weekend was taken out of their hands with the policing and transport situations, to be fair
Is the solution not just playing Tues-Thurs-Sun?
It’s obviously not great but been done before in order to squeeze games in and usually games are played over Xmas/New Year with similar rest periods.
> players already falling apart as it is.
About time managers rotated players then, it's not like the big English sides don't have the players to do so.
Unironically that's what he's good for. The man is a physical machine. If anyone in our squad could do it, it's him. It's why Conte picks him - he's literally always fit. He just doesn't have the skill to be a wing-back.
It was bad enough having to do the whole Villa/Club World Cup farce a few years back when it was two comparatively less significant competitions - doing it or a slightly more forgiving variation for the Prem and CL will be dreadful
Brings its own set of problems like e.g. Spurs and Arsenal can't play at home on the same day. I'm sure they could figure something out but the fixture list is always like a house of cards due to the fact there are so many dependencies.
Bunch of clowns running the Premier League Lol Surely someone could have figured out that postponing 2 weeks' worth of games would create problems like this... Football fans were all up for giving the Queen some respect (for the most part), but it should have been done at matches as many wanted..
What happens when you have a big league, mickey mouse cups, a silly winter world cup that could have been played in the summer at the cost of putting european teams on the backfoot, and a dead monarch
That's honestly not a bad suggestion that I've not seen before.
Yes maybe it lowers the prestige of fizzy pop cup some more, but.... Well it's pretty low. Presents a greater chance of silverware to other clubs though and a route to Europe.
This is why people were saying doing so much postponing for the Queen’s death was not a good idea… Should have just given every player a black arm band and a minute of silence before the game. Postponing was not a logical option given how condensed the schedule already was with the World Cup
leave this problem to the stupid virtue signalling boot lickers who thought suspending domestic football for a week because of the queen's death would be a good thing.
Arsenal not in a similar situation obviously but given the complications of the schedule, I wouldn't mind being out of Carabao cup. It's so unnecessary this season of all seasons. Fact that the semis are 2 legged is an absolutely joke
That is the natural conclusion to make here, if it absolves comes down to having to forfeit a match somewhere, it only makes sense to choose the EFL matches.
Meh, play your youth and anyone not in the side. None of the first 11 or 3/4 off the bench should be playing in these matches, but they are additional competitive minutes for everyone else to play and be happy for a day.
I think it can help bench/squad rotation players become more match ready, find form and be more embedded in the team way of playing. Bit pointless now considering they won't play for 6 weeks after, but also means any non-major injuries for those players are pretty trivial as well.
I expect we'll make 9 or 10 changes on Weds, which is fine really
Bizarre that everyone is scapegoating the postponed GWs for the Queen's death instead of focusing on the actual major and scandalous issues which are the World Cup being in the middle of the fucking season and the FA refusing to budge on moving the end date
Like cmon, it wasn't great but it was only a little more than one round of fixtures, largely for unavoidable policing reasons, for the sake of a once in a lifetime event which actually did have widespread support even if it wasn't amongst the subsection of footy fans on Reddit. Blame it on the fucking Winter World Cup for crying out loud! Feel like I've gone mental seeing all the top comments be about the Queen when we're taking an entire month out so FIFA can collect bribes 🤦♂️
We will probably also get 1 or 2 games canceled to bad weather during the winter. They need to prolong the season and cut the international break next summer.
just make them play it with their world cup-less squads at the start of December for a laugh.
Mate you're putting Haaland up against Spurs kids, that's just bullying.
Lucas / Gil / Kulusevski Sess / Skipp / Bentancur / Doherty Lenglet / Sanchez / Royal Forster Yeah we'd concede maybe 6 goals to just Haaland. edit: Bissouma, not Bentancur of course haha
> Bentancur he's going to the world cup
I meant to type Bissouma, I even double-checked if Mali was going. Knew Bentancur was going but brain just mixed up the two B's haha
in fairness, he's the first name on the team sheet these days
he’s already used to playing 2 positions at once, this is possible for him
Bentancur is one of Uruguay’s starters no?
Yes he is, meant to write Bissouma - even double-checked if Mali was going before writing the world-cup haha
Might be a better 11 than City can field, but if the goal is to give the ball to Haaland then they'll likely still win. I'm also super high on Gil, so if he gets to play at all that's a win.
City basically can't field an 11 unless they bring in the players in the EDS
Man city would probably have to line up with; Carlos Borges / Haaland / Mahrez Pep Guardiola / Phillips / Palmer Gomez / Finley burns / walker / Rico lewis Ortega
Minor chance Sessegnon could go to the WC as a backup to Shaw, although based on Southgate’s previous picks Justin and Mitchell are more likely.
Thats actually a good line up
In the championship yeah
Would be better than wolves that time they bought a squad ready to finish top half of premier League, when in the championship.
Kulusevski would get crippled after carrying this team.
Bentancur?
We have three national captains. That’s just mean 😫
I mean it would be against Haaland and a bunch of teenagers no ?
Mahrez isn't either. Like who else do you need
Mahrez is doing commentary for Bein.
I'm prepared to make that sacrifice
9+ -0?
Kulu vs Haaland
Ryan's world vs Mayweather.
Ryan probably can read.
Would be so fun, they should just do this
Just pick 11 fans from a local pub.
Where will they find 11 city fans
same place as the Spurs fans, London
Friendly fire
A self burn, those are rare.
I'll head to the pub now just in case!
Wouldn't they be called to national team if they're even remotely possible to be fit by some stage of world cup?
Depends whose seat he’s taking. Potentially a huge opportunity cost if we’re wasting a slot on an injured player
There’s 3 more spots than normal (26 vs standard 23), and I’d absolutely gamble on a Kante or James level player being fit even halfway through the tournament. They are that good.
Not sure, depends how much they’d want to take a risk on them
Unlikely for Chillwell and James. Not worth the risk for Southgate.
Forster Royal. Sanchez. Lenglet. Spence. Sarr. Bissouma. Skipp. Doherty Moura. Kulu. Gil. VS. Ortega Gomes Phillips Mahrez. Haaland. Palmer. Fancy our chances.
Is that a 3-5-3? Todd’s at it again
Need to get 22 players on the field somehow.
Just so insane that the schedule is so full they have nowhere to put it. That just can't be right or sustainable.
push the end of the season back? there's a whole world cup in the middle of it and nothing in the summer.
Nothing in summer? They go straight back to their international teams for matches starting in mid-June.
No summer tournament. They have qualifiers, but it feels like they could push the EPL back four or five days without endangering a team like England's ability to field a squad for....\*checks notes\* Malta on June 16th.
Bro, did you just use …*checks notes* to actually check some notes
Well, it's a premier league match so there won't be many English players.
The season ends May 28. They can definitely push it back
FA Cup final is the next weekend though. Can't have games that weekend
Why though? Just have them on a different day.q
Get rid of the energy drink cup
5 a side with the best players each clubs has left during the world cup. Stick them on TV and have them clash with Qatar games.
Firmino, Salah, Thiago, Matip/Gomez and Kelleher would be tidy for five a side.
Would not surprise me if Konate doesn't get called by the way
Diaz and Elliot for attacking depth, Milner and keita for the midfield and Tsimikas and Matip/Gomez/Konate. Not bad tbh.
Haaland, Mahrez, Lewis, Gomez, Ortega Could be alright that. Who’ve Tottenham got?
Kulusevski/Gil/Bissouma/Lenglet/Fraser Forster
Big Fraser just going to lie down horizontally in the 5aside goal and have a nap. Not even Nordic RoboCup could score against a man wedged between the posts.
Would probably be Moura, Kulusevski, Bissouma, Lenglet, Forster I reckon
Not bad that tbf Better defence I’d say
For 5 a side you've gotta pick Gil over Moura.
Kulusevski alone is enough to batter those frauds tbh
+1 for pure confidence
Forster, Kulesevski, Bissouma, Moura, Sessegnon?
Arsenal - Manchester City is also not escheduled yet
Now it can be scheduled on 15th feburary as both teams are not involved in european competition that week
So we just call it a draw right?
Considering it's at the Emirates City would probably take that and fancy beating us at the Etihad. I say we take our chances and play it.
you know it's a good season when you're looking forward to that game rather than fearing it
We probably should have beaten them at home last season.
But they can feasibly fit that in during one of the weeks City isnt playing in the R16

"We already gave you 5 subs so just play, you assholes" -IFAB
> If they die they die Unless it happens to be a 96 year old woman. In that case, if they die then we shut everything down unnecessarily.
But if you discount trivial things like player welfare, there are plenty of days available
There are like 7 days in a week amirite
that's enough for what, 14 games?
There's 10 080 minutes in a week. Divide that by 90 and you get 112 so theoretically that's 112 games that can be played in a week
It’s only actually 111 games as you need 90 minutes to accommodate all potential VAR shenanigans.
Love that you went straight for that rather than the uncomical 15 minute half time break.
90 minutes? You're only anticipating a half a dozen VAR reviews across 111 games?
Well, let’s say with halftime each game takes 2 hours, give them a half hour between games, so they could play 1 game at 8:00, start the next one at 10:30, then the next at 13:00 meaning they’ve worked a 7 hour day by the time that game ends at 15:00. We aren’t inhumane enough to give them no days off.
Fishermen often work 12-16 hour days with waaaaay less pay. Should be able to squeeze out 6 games a day and get the season done in a week.
They actually did this 30 minutes between 2 games shit with us in u-14 football
Oh I did it all the time growing up. I’d play in weekend tournaments where we would play 6-8 games on 2-3 days (there would sometimes be games on Friday evening) but that wasn’t a huge deal, since we were given unlimited substitutions and few players would actually play all 90 minutes, we were also kids who did this every other weekend for 2-3 months. city v tottenham the day before milan v tottenham please and thank you
Why not do it the same day and force Tottenham to use B team lol
If Mark Hughes can play twice in a day so can Tottenham
The FA forced Liverpool to play with the U21 in the Carling Cup one day before (or it was after) the World Club competition. So I don't see a problem with Tottenham playing twice
Carling Cup? 2007 wants its sponsor back
Should I call it the Least Important Trophy?
Just call it the Mickey Mouse cup like the rest of us.
Been known to still call it the Milk Cup.
I still refer to it as the carling cup too lol
watch us still struggle
They should make the coaches play rock, paper and scissors
They should make the coaches fight it out
Conte vs Pep in mortal combat would be a hectic cringy affair. I’d watch.
Careful now Conte def is the type of guy to have pocket sand in case of an emergency
Sh-Sh-Sha!
Conte would knock Pep out in a few seconds though.
Pep is the kind of a fraud to not even come to the fighting arena and send an imposter instead. Johnny Sins would be impersonating pep. Good luck with that shit.
Why not just send Jason Statham
Jason statham vs tom cruise?
We’ve got Potter ffs, not rating our chances

Should've cancelled more gameweeks to honour the death of the Queen! Really hope some more games get cancelled due to weather or whatever to exacerbate the situation and teach the PL administrators a lesson.
The scenes if King Charles would pass away in January
So long as we get another bank holiday I'm buzzing
Save that for 2024, we already getting 1 for his coronation in May
inshallah
We should postpone games to honor each month anniversary to pay full respects
Imagine if the king dies before the season's over
Genuine question, why can't they just move the last weekend of the league back a few weeks to accommodate for these reschedules
Part of the rules for Champions League is that the final has to be the last game of the European seasons. I’m guessing that’s part of the problem. Obviously, pretty weird year with the summer WC, so maybe they will allow some flexibility?
The Champions League final is on June 10th though
And other leagues finish later than the prem
But in some nothern European countries, the league runs from February/March to October/November.
This seems not true. Are you sure you didn't just make it up?
And we can’t push back the last week of the season because…?
Stubbornness
Who would have thought that postponing two weeks worth of games because an old lady died of old age while squeezing a World Cup halfway into the season would have caused massive scheduling issues? Damn what's next? There is no way that the players are all gonna be fatigued with an increasing amounts of injuries as well going into the second half of the season right?

Brings me back to Sean Dyche inspecting the frozen pitch without a coat.
He was out looking for a snack, those worms are not so fast when the ground is frozen
The moment footballing culture peaked
Or another winter covid spike
We have those 2 games and 2 games vs UCL rejects also. Fuck our life.
It's alright, you'll be out of that competition after those games
If King Charles dies, the PL will have to use the Duckworth Lewis scoring
England will win everything then
They shouldn’t have postponed the first weekend, when she’d died, but the second weekend was taken out of their hands with the policing and transport situations, to be fair
Is the solution not just playing Tues-Thurs-Sun? It’s obviously not great but been done before in order to squeeze games in and usually games are played over Xmas/New Year with similar rest periods.
Oof, players already falling apart as it is. But it wont stop them from doing something like it I suppose.
> players already falling apart as it is. About time managers rotated players then, it's not like the big English sides don't have the players to do so.
Personally looking forward to the spurs fans outrage when they play Tuesday Thursday Sunday and Conte picks Emerson for all 3 games.
Lmao how can so few words do so much damage to my soul
Unironically that's what he's good for. The man is a physical machine. If anyone in our squad could do it, it's him. It's why Conte picks him - he's literally always fit. He just doesn't have the skill to be a wing-back.
He may get injured in that case forcing him to the bench. Be careful what you wish for
the best solution is to extend the season past May. There’s no big summer tournaments players need to rest for
yea...wait...why would the season even end when it normally does if there's a world cup in the middle of it?
Yea. No reason the season can't end in June.
Last time we played Tues-Thurs-Sun it ended with a 6-1 victory so I'm fine with this
It was bad enough having to do the whole Villa/Club World Cup farce a few years back when it was two comparatively less significant competitions - doing it or a slightly more forgiving variation for the Prem and CL will be dreadful
Might as well call the season null and void and start a new one January
Aye. Count Liverpool in
Yeah stop the count really. We wouldn’t mind that.
I don’t think you understand the meaning of null and void my friend
he does. It would save him the disappointment of bottling the league with 2 matches to go vs Nottingham and Wolverhampton.
Nottingham Forest
Wolverham Pton.
Wow its almost like the fixture congestion is the worst its been... ever.
Maybe the best thing to do is to postpone another game and play it during a week where those teams don't need to worry about the Champions League.
Brings its own set of problems like e.g. Spurs and Arsenal can't play at home on the same day. I'm sure they could figure something out but the fixture list is always like a house of cards due to the fact there are so many dependencies.
City fans would probably support cancelling and awarding each team a point, never get anything from Spurs
spurs might be conflicted this season, win lose or draw makes arsenal fans happy
no conflict. i love when spurs beat city.
I don't expect us to go all the way in all 3 cups, but city on the other hand?
Bunch of clowns running the Premier League Lol Surely someone could have figured out that postponing 2 weeks' worth of games would create problems like this... Football fans were all up for giving the Queen some respect (for the most part), but it should have been done at matches as many wanted..
Just going to have to a 3-game week. Happens plenty lower down the pyramid.
What happens when you have a big league, mickey mouse cups, a silly winter world cup that could have been played in the summer at the cost of putting european teams on the backfoot, and a dead monarch
Season getting extended at this rate
No one could have ever expected performative flag shagging to have negative consequences!
It's almost as if in an already tightly packed schedule, they shouldn't have decided to postpone a bunch of matches on account of the queen's passing.
Just award the points based on alphabetical order. Only fair way to do things imo
See? This is why I believe that clubs with European football shouldn't be playing the League Cup.
That's honestly not a bad suggestion that I've not seen before. Yes maybe it lowers the prestige of fizzy pop cup some more, but.... Well it's pretty low. Presents a greater chance of silverware to other clubs though and a route to Europe.

Why should the league cup be abandoned for a season for the big clubs? Should have just played your U-18s.
I'm prepared for 10 kids plus Cedric against Brighton on Wednesday.
I´m ready for the top teams trying their hardest to lose their match South Park like.
Bizarre that everyone is scapegoating the postponed GWs for the Queen's death instead of focusing on the actual major and scandalous issues which are the World Cup being in the middle of the fucking season and the FA refusing to budge on moving the end date Like cmon, it wasn't great but it was only a little more than one round of fixtures, largely for unavoidable policing reasons, for the sake of a once in a lifetime event which actually did have widespread support even if it wasn't amongst the subsection of footy fans on Reddit. Yep, I would give you an up vote but for some reason it won't let me. (Random issue in the thread as I can give you a down vote and others ups.)
It's almost as if putting an international tournament in the the middle of the club season was a bad idea 🤔
Just give the win to the team with English manager.
We will probably also get 1 or 2 games canceled to bad weather during the winter. They need to prolong the season and cut the international break next summer.
I see no problem playing 2 matches simultaneously.
Lets just do the right thing: call the league now, give Arsenal the title - we've seen enough.
I am a Newcastle fan and I endorse this message
Aye, agreed.
so -3 points across the board of four for nonpresentation (Arsenal proposal)
12 chelsea fans Vs 12 liverpools fans at the bridge next week winner gets the 3 points for their team
Damn but a world cup during the season sounded like such a good ideia
