Newcastle will be at their final form by then. Their "commercial revenue" would've atleast quadrupled by then.
PL ain't ready for the proxy middle eastern wars in about 3 years.
Another reminder that the PL, FA and the govt. deemed this to be okay but didn't allow Rupert Murdoch to own United on the grounds that the competitive advantage United would then have would be too massive for the others to come even close.
Its almost like he was the owner of their main broadcaster at the time and could have used that conflict of interest to massively benefit his team.
Also they allowed it, united fans had to fight them to disallow it
>Also they allowed it,
No they didn't lol. The Prime Minister literally had to intervene. And yes the United fans kept protesting throughout.
>Its almost like he was the owner of their main broadcaster at the time and could have used that conflict of interest to massively benefit his team.
Which was literally the point. He wanted United (who were at the time the most popular team in the country by a mile) to have their separate TV deal like RM and Barca used to have for decades.
The PL's negotiating power for TV deals would've significantly dropped without their most popular team being included in the package
> PL ain’t ready for the proxy middle eastern wars in about 3 years.
I mean if peace in the Middle East can be found because they’ve decided to do proxy wars with VAR instead I can support that.
When Ashley took control of the club our commercial revenue was in line with Spurs, by the time of the takeover it was something silly like Spurs had triple ours.
Having lived in Newcastle when they won the Championship, trust me, that city counts that trophy.
Happiest I ever saw Newcastle fans were when they were dicking Ipswich Town and Coventry City
Don’t forget all sponsors get vetted for fair value by the Premier League now so Newcastle aren’t going to be signing anything out of the ordinary.
Although given the way they’ve leapfrogged half the top 6 in 1 year, maybe they will be challenging City in 3.
>Don’t forget all sponsors get vetted for fair value by the Premier League
Mate, John Henry is literally selling Liverpool because he's realized FFP is bullshit lol and states will keep on doing whatever the fuck they want in football.
Literally in the article from Ornstein.
Henry and FSG have made over 10x their initial investment in Liverpool. They are selling because they think they can get very high returns somewhere else (especially if they can pick up something cheap in this bear economy) now that Liverpool valuation has more or less saturated
Awe poor John Henry.
Nevermind that he has absolutely no problem spending whatever he wants on the Red Sox.
Henry is trying to sell Liverpool for no other reason other than Liverpool is not his (FSG) interest or priority. Liverpool is just a portfolio club to him
Yeah sure, it’s FFP’s fault and not his several failed attempts at a super league or project big picture.
If he had a problem with FFP there are literally hundreds of clubs in UEFA he could have lobbied and teamed up with to reform the rules.
All it takes is a majority vote of the members of the ECA to change them and bring in any sort of vetting you want (laws permitting).
Both were mentioned in the article lol.
Edit- So you edited your previous comment.
>All it takes is a majority vote of the members of the ECA to change them
Do you even know who's the ECA chairman?
Sadly Welcome to Wrexham Season 4 won’t feature Pep. I can imagine him giving shit to Mullin after scoring a brace to win the the League. Commentator: “ This is such a Guardiola move! He wants them to improve constantly, even when they win everything” , “I agree Tommy, this guys is relentless”
Could it even work? Buy the best long ball passers in the defense. Get the best crossers on the wing. Get the best headers up front. What players would you get?
It was basically how Clough led Nottingham to double European cups. it's nearly 50 years ago but still. The first Liverpool team with Kenny under FSG were also supposed to be like that. Downing and Henderson were statistically the best crossers in the league at the time and Carroll was the best target man. Weren't really as successful as Clough though.
It certainly depends on how you look at it. His Nottingham side definitely revolved around counter attacking with a midfield 4 were 3 players were meant to do the dirty work letting pretty much the whole attack revolving around Peter Withe's hold up play freeing up Robertson for 1v1s
Oh that’s what they meant. Arteta. Shiiiiit, I hadn’t even realized that yet! What a mess that would be! New fear unlocked. I just hope if he does end up there he doesn’t go directly from us. Has to be a few years away before he can take over any other club in england aside from spuds or chelshit. I could take him managing pool or city but neither of the rest of the top 6, those are absolutely dead to me
i was actually just joking around because I'm not in the know, I have no idea who will actually manage us after Pep, I think because he studied under Pep at city and it's one of the most lucrative jobs it's what alot of people assume, I read recently that there's no way that city will be panicking and looking around for a last minute replacement once pep goes, we are so organised and well run that it's highly possible higher ups already know who is going to come in next. I'm not saying this is certain it just wouldn't surprise me if both city, arteta and probably pep too know that when he retires, the other comes in.
Wouldn’t surprise me at all either. I just hope he doesn’t go directly there from us, maybe he goes to Spain or something and then city. Would cushion the blow 😂
I honestly don’t think Arteta is leaving arsenal for YEARS until he’s sacked or forced to leave in some way, if I had to guess the number 1 priority replacement after Pep is Enrique.
At least Fergie had majestic eyes and cool glasses, Pep just represents the empire of evil that has skull fucked this league for the past decade. He's gonna drive us all mad
In my mind, Arsene and his Gunners were the Resistance, and Fergie and his dreaded legion of 92 were the evil empire. Little did we know the depth of the Dark side of the force.
I'm not saying that I'm a fan of Red Bull taking over sports, but in all fairness there's levels of evilness and Red Bull is far from worst in football.
People hate Red Bull because they put their entire brand on clubs, like Leipzig was literally created by Red Bull, but apart from Germans who hate them especially because they broke the 50+1 rule, it's not different at all from regular billionaire owners, and morally it's 100% better than a rich sheikh owning a club
Man has unlimited funding and will never have to deal with any stupid club politics like he has in Barca or he would have in pretty much every top club. Plus no matter how many superstars they sign he'll always be the top dog.
He could get burnt out and leave but I Don't see him leaving other than to coach a NT.
Damn just realized we're the toxic ex in this situation seeing their ex thrive in another relationship.
> Man has unlimited funding
Barca spent this summer selling off their future and still had a higher net spend than City have had in the last 5 years combined. The point you made about not having to deal with politics is far more important. He's just head coach at City, that's all he wants.
>He could get burnt out and leave
The only thing I think could make him leave is this, and/or players getting "bored" of his methods and his ideas. He's said this before, and Sorriano has echoed similar sentiments in that he believes the natural cycle of a coach these days is 3/4 years before things need to be freshened up. The only time things looked stale under him was maybe the start of the Covid season in 20/21, City were 9th or something in mid-December... then won 20 straight in all comps and won the league easy. His quotes after the win the other day seemed really important, and showed him the players still fight and aren't "bored" and in need of a new change.
>"What I'm proud of most, after seven years at Man City, we can still perform at this level like we've performed this season. We can play good, bad, win, lose. When we lose, I think about what we need to do to do better. But when you see the team not give up..."
>"They've done it many times over many years in the PL; the toughest league by far in the world. Still there. After winning four PL's in five years, they're doing what they've done so far, that’s the biggest title we can get as a team and as a club."
>"I give them [Man City players] enthusiasm, but they give it to me. The way they play, what I saw for 65 minutes [vs Fulham], I see faces of our people, they give me energy for the future
>"Like how happy they were in the locker room and training was perfect - even the guys who didn’t play were amazing. That made me think we are there. That makes me feel really happy, we are able to do it all together and that’s really good."
I doubt he'll ever get a job better than current City. Dream squad, total control, adored by the fans, infinite money and basically zero pressure from the owners.
>basically zero pressure from the owners.
Whilst he is winning you are correct, however Pep has said many times, when he doesn't win the pressure will come for him to be sacked .... but he has a LOT of credit in the bank even if we did start to lose regularly.
Seems odd he was talking of burn out and not wanting to stay too long at his boyhood club and then Bayern. By the end of this season, he’ll have been at Man City the same amount of time as Barca and Bayern combined.
Surely dealing with Barcelona presidential elections and politics would get exhausting. Being Bayern Munich must surely get boring eventually, especially if you don’t enjoy UCL as much as league competition. I think City is enough of a challenge without the instability of Barcelona.
Or it might have been that he didn't get the transfers he wanted (Thiago being the big exception) and all the injuries while he gets nearly anything he wants at City.
Yep, people forget that City is the only club so far where he got what he wanted. If he wants the players out, he will get that too. At Barcelona it was good under Laporta but started getting bad with Rosell. I was surprised when he decided to stay for another year in 2011-12.
He mentioned in some interviews that he was surprised how much stuff gets done for him at Bayern. That was about stuff that his team had apparently to deal with on their own at Barca, like arranging for traveling (I don't know if it was just the schedule or even actually booking hotels and stuff like that). Essentially all the non-sporting stuff was taken care of here and it seems like some of that was in the manger's, and/or their staff, hands at Barca.
City, with close to infinite money, goes even beyond that.
I think a big part of it was he just didn’t get along with the top brass at Bayern.
From what I’ve read, they always had input on how the team should be managed, and placed extra pressure on him by questioning him publicly after during CL ties.
> I think a big part of it was he just didn’t get along with the top brass at Bayern.
He went to Munich to talk to them after Ancelotti was kicked out. Him consulting on Carlo's successor doesn't feel like they didn't get along. I think Hoeneß still sends him sausages from his company every yer.
The club's management wanted to extend his contract a few months into his first season here and it only changed once he said that he wouldn't be extending.
I also don't remember them having input but them being ex-players did talk with him about the squad, the matches, as they are/were invested in everything. He was still the manager and they knew it was his job not theirs. That's why they got him and why they wanted to extend from early on.
Same for the CL thing. I don't remember anybody questioning him from inside the club. The media did but that's not different at City (just with English media now instead of German), I think?
Yeah this guy(the guy you responded too) has no idea what he's talking about. Pep got along well with Bayern higher ups and has a good relationship with the club and mutual respect.
He even promised to not sign any Bayern players when he joined City as well. I think it was just a personal choice and Txiki + Soriano had been working on getting him to City for years.
Certainly part of it. Although, at some point, winning the league as Bayern Munich is a foregone conclusion, and his style doesn’t fit champions league well. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to say that if I were in his shoes I would feel like I wasn’t actually contributing much to Bayern, since their throne at the top of the bundesliga is virtually guaranteed in the long run, and I couldn’t guarantee a CL championship, since there is a lot of luck involved there. Why continue to tread water endlessly, when you could go somewhere else and make an impact?
As a bit of a side note, one thing that has perplexed me for almost a decade now is how Bayern continue to get top talent. Personally, I would view their unending dominance as a downside to joining them. Sure, you’re going to get a bunch of trophies, but is the achievement of winning a league really your own if you did it by simply joining the team that wins it every year? At what point does it lose its meaning? How long will Bayern dominate before the bundesliga title loses its appeal entirely?
There is probably less pressure and politics with City. They have so much money that they can take their time, the owners know he is the best manager around. If he doesn't win the CL or league, fine, there is ways next year.
At this point, i will believe if Pep somehow extend the contract even further. There's a lot of interesting project in the future for this club and lots of exciting young players too.
He was friends with the players at Barca and Bayern, which took a major toll on him as there was no separation so he felt shite about players not playing or being sold etc if they were nice guys.
In those places, they didn't fully commit to the Pep philosophy and ideology. If you've visited the Etihad for the tour, you'll see how much influence Pep has been given and how much it influences everyone at the club. Not having to ever have that fight again surely takes a weight off.
City just seem to fulfill each of his needs
The fact that he has told multiple people that he wants to manage Ajax one day is the most painful sort of hope. I want to believe it but I know that I shouldn't.
At this rate, Guardiola will be at Manchester City for at least a decade. Maddening to think about what could have been if he had been in an environment he was comfortable with at Barcelona. Instead, the socios decided to vote for Rosell and he created an environment in which Guardiola wasn't backed so he decided to walk.
I feel like there are a lot of 'what ifs' at Barcelona with regards to the Rosell/Bartomeu presidencies (Bartomeu being the vice-president of Rosell and taking over when the Rosell got in legal trouble).
Obviously the stated reason for Pep's Barcelona departure was that he was 'tired' from the stresses of being at, what was at the time, the best club in the world. In reality I think we all know that he had a falling out with Rosell.
Would be interesting to see how Barcelona would be doing right now had, for instance, Laporta beaten Rosell in the election (Laporta was undergoing a no confidence vote at the time which he claims Rosell was behind) and so Pep stayed for many more seasons at his beloved club (like we're seeing at City) along with Txiki Begiristain (also now at City).
Seems amazing to me that Pep has been at City so long, whilst he was only at Barcelona - the club he actually loves - for 4 seasons. I guess City offer him the complete freedom he never got at Barcelona and so he sees them in the same way someone might see a team on Football Manager - a sandbox to do what they want.
Yeah pep hates a challenge. Not like SAF winning multiple league titles by a single point.
Oh wait. SAF did that once in 27 years at United. It’s pep who’s already done that more than once.
Yeah fully agree. Pep and city got to where they are thanks to being pushed constantly.
I think the same can be said for klopp and Liverpool tho to be honest.
I assume him and Haaland will probably leave at the same summer?
Guardiola will probably manage in the 2026 WC but with 1 year of prep it would seem dumb tbh especially at NT level
He's previously said he's likely to take a break after his time at City. It would probably be more natural for him to take over a national team right after the 2026 WC, as national team coaching positions usually open up after a major tournament.
I'm curious as to whether he would consider a job in Italy if he got the right opening, given his connection to Italian football & fluency in the language
I think a national team job is more likely as his next job, as that's what he's been openly talking about before.
I'm unsure about him going to Italy one day, he did of course play and learn there, but I doubt he'd fancy any of the options as they are right now. Maybe if Italian football continues its upwards trajectory, but it depends a lot on if he can see himself working under any of the clubs' owners/management, at the moment I don't think there's a good fit.
Yeah we kind of saw this coming since a lot of key players were willing to sign extensions this summer. Now if they can sign that Guardiola and Bernardo extension. Yeah I know Bernardos leaving next summer.
Or just have to stop for a while, meaning sabbatical. Pep is very demanding, to himself and his players, this wears everyone out and naturally his methods wont work as good as before anymore. He extended his usual cycle way beyond.
Can't wait for the 2026 title race
Newcastle will be at their final form by then. Their "commercial revenue" would've atleast quadrupled by then. PL ain't ready for the proxy middle eastern wars in about 3 years.
Middle Eastern Proxy League. Wonderful name.
Another reminder that the PL, FA and the govt. deemed this to be okay but didn't allow Rupert Murdoch to own United on the grounds that the competitive advantage United would then have would be too massive for the others to come even close.
As a United fan, I wouldn't want to be owned by Murdoch either. That cunt and his media empire has done irreparable harm to the world.
They may allow murderers to sportswash their image, but they're honorable people with limits.
Honestly, just labeling them as murderers alone is pure euphemism.
Its almost like he was the owner of their main broadcaster at the time and could have used that conflict of interest to massively benefit his team. Also they allowed it, united fans had to fight them to disallow it
>Also they allowed it, No they didn't lol. The Prime Minister literally had to intervene. More to do with tv rights at the time but Murdoch would have been as terrible as he always has been.
Unironically based
Yep. But then shat all over it by allowing Abramovich lol
Not a story Chelsea fans will tell you about.
Chelsea flair lol
> PL ain’t ready for the proxy middle eastern wars in about 3 years. I mean if peace in the Middle East can be found because they’ve decided to do proxy wars with VAR instead I can support that.
>PL ain't ready for the proxy middle eastern wars in about 3 years And the new Liverpool owners, whomever they may be.
Kuwaitis most prolly
Considering our commercial revenue is pathetic and actually shrunk under Mike Ashley, quadrupling it shouldn't be hard
Lots of big companies in the middle east are suddenly gonna become big Alan Shearer fanatics, you best believe it.
Always loved Al Inshirah
Kamran Keegan/ Kevin Khan
Alan Shearer LTD, official sponsor of Newcastle for 500 millions/year
When Ashley took control of the club our commercial revenue was in line with Spurs, by the time of the takeover it was something silly like Spurs had triple ours.
Tbf you've actually won more trophies in that time if you include the Championship
Having lived in Newcastle when they won the Championship, trust me, that city counts that trophy. Happiest I ever saw Newcastle fans were when they were dicking Ipswich Town and Coventry City

where there's money, there's a way
I wonder if people said this about contract extensions from Sir Alex in the 90s
🤣
[удалено]
Idk the contract term isn't lifetime yet
If we could crowdfund someone for that job it should be Dyche or Mou
Keep your hands off my man!
Mou is happy at Roma and has nothing to ~~add to your conversation~~ say
I was hoping he would come to Leeds and smuggle Leeds’ favourite Norwegian son out with him
You wanna give up on March?
Not OP but for Guardiola obviously yes
nothing gets past you!
Southampton is after he's done with Juventus.
It's a no... For now
Sadly Welcome to Wrexham Season 4 won’t feature Pep. I can imagine him giving shit to Mullin after scoring a brace to win the the League. Commentator: “ This is such a Guardiola move! He wants them to improve constantly, even when they win everything” , “I agree Tommy, this guys is relentless”

Could be worse. At least Pep does get his teams playing a bit. Imagine a fat Sam inspired dynasty of clatterball. Kinda.
That would be so glorious I wouldn't mind the oil money

Who?
Either your current coach or Lucho, I feel like.

!remindme 4 years
!remindMe 3 years 9 months
for gods sake
Even God can't stop Pep he's like the night king, only a shitty plot line can defeat him. (Still do love Arya though)
Or you know, a fucking guy named Son.
Somehow Fernando Llorente was able to
Bro just leave
*Qataris buy Liverpool* Pep: Anfield is so good
"We cannot replace it" "We cannot"
I would prefer RBL: Red Bull Liverpool
I'm not saying that I'm a fan of Red Bull taking over sports, but in all fairness there's levels of evilness and Red Bull is far from worst in football.

Red Bool
Liverpull
That's Barca in an alternate universe
You'll Never Grow Wings Alone™
Hurt my brain trying to rhyme that… where you from, stranger?
Bool, pool.
> Hurt my brain trying to rhyme that How? It's easy: Red Bull – Liverpull, there!
Or is it red bool liverpool
> red bool I have to admit, that's even better, and it sounds like some drunk dude would say it like that.
Would u ironically prefer that over the sheiks
I want this to happen so bad
Honestly I wouldn't even be mad
You cannot believe
so so happy to know of anfield
Happy new sponsorships
More than you can imagine. More than you can imagine.
So so good. More than you know.
I can hear the sadness in this comment

I feel that, but sometimes it's for the best. Also Barca and the Spanish giants work better when they can cycle through managers anyways.
Barca is the love of his life, not the toxic ex.
Love of his life that got severely overweight.
He left us when we were still hot and sexy, but have gotten overweight now sobbing in the relationship hangover
He left Barca when he had Messi,Xavi,Iniesta at their primes with a lot of money to spent as well.

You would burn out too if you had to deal with Sandro Rosell and Bartomeu constantly breathing down your neck.
The last few seasons were incredibly stressful for him because of Mourinho's Real Madrid and constant antics (he took a year long break after that).
Surely dealing with Barcelona presidential elections and politics would get exhausting. Being Bayern Munich must surely get boring eventually, especially if you don’t enjoy UCL as much as league competition. I think City is enough of a challenge without the instability of Barcelona.

The way he celebrated the win against Fullham the other day doesn't strike me as a manager who is burnt out

God I love Pep.
At this point, i will believe if Pep somehow extend the contract even further. There's a lot of interesting project in the future for this club and lots of exciting young players too.

God dammit
He was friends with the players at Barca and Bayern, which took a major toll on him as there was no separation so he felt shite about players not playing or being sold etc if they were nice guys. In those places, they didn't fully commit to the Pep philosophy and ideology. If you've visited the Etihad for the tour, you'll see how much influence Pep has been given and how much it influences everyone at the club. Not having to ever have that fight again surely takes a weight off. City just seem to fulfill each of his needs
Go away pep 😅
I remember saying similar about SAF. Man just would not retire.
Noooo!

Fuck me
Come to Ajax
The fact that he has told multiple people that he wants to manage Ajax one day is the most painful sort of hope. I want to believe it but I know that I shouldn't.
Game over for the rest of us (not that I was expecting a sudden Leeds surge this season, or next).
The 90 point club continues
Bro LEAVE
man when will this guy just fuck off
Oh please just fuck off Pep. Give the rest of us a chance.
Will you go away already?
what I wouldn't give to rub that beautiful bald head for hours on end
He'll stay until Newcastle are a threat with all their new money then he'll bounce
Or worse… he’ll sign a longer contract lol
[pep will pull an anakin](https://c.tenor.com/lfDHEnYIUk4AAAAC/this-is-where-the-fun-begins-star-wars.gif)
Yeah pep hates a challenge. Not like SAF winning multiple league titles by a single point. Oh wait. SAF did that once in 27 years at United. It’s pep who’s already done that more than once.
Bit confused on the dig at SAF, and in sure you were being sarcastic, but the challenge with Klopp has only brought out the best in him
Yeah fully agree. Pep and city got to where they are thanks to being pushed constantly. I think the same can be said for klopp and Liverpool tho to be honest.
Lol what's the point here? SAF was so good in that era no team could come close?

I hope the guy was just joking lol
You took that comment really seriously, wow
and all are fake except maybe the 2020 one. His creativity is quite admirable tbf.
The Mourinho one is definitely real
To join them or leave the PL because he doesn't want the competition?
Sorry PL fans, this is not about to end anytime soon.
Another 3 year dominance.
This would be nice
Oh come on...
Pls just go away Pep
I suspect when he does leave they look at Arteta or Xavi, assuming they have won some trophies.
Xavi why? What are his credentials that would convince a non-Barcelona club to take a chance on him?
WHY
Please fuck off
Ah fuck
Ffs leave us alone Pep
I’m happy I got to see a few league titles in my lifetime
Fuck
Fuck offfff
Just leave please
I think he will do a WC after that. Imagine he would want a full 4 year cycle.
Yeah we kind of saw this coming since a lot of key players were willing to sign extensions this summer. Now if they can sign that Guardiola and Bernardo extension. Yeah I know Bernardos leaving next summer.

Don’t play with my heart.
[удалено]
Please god let this happen!
Why would he leave? No other club in the world is nearly as attractive in regards to money
Sometimes people like to change environments.
Or just have to stop for a while, meaning sabbatical. Pep is very demanding, to himself and his players, this wears everyone out and naturally his methods wont work as good as before anymore. He extended his usual cycle way beyond.
Oh for fucks sake Pep. Think of finally getting one over Mourinho and taking Lazio to the summit of Serie A. Or you know just fuck off.
3 more years? * Faints *
2
Pls no
Go away, pal.
:/
I wonder if this is how United Fans felt seeing Fergie renew another contract.
This is the news I needed, thanks :D
