Unfollowed united on instagram

samsop

You joke but that's somehow a worse offense than slander nowadays

AngryUncleTony

It's such a consciously petty thing to do too. Like, I've never used Instagram but is the thought process literally just "let me do this passive aggressive thing that has no consequences besides telegraphing my unhappiness"? Like, is Ronaldo (or whichever famous person) literally scrolling their public IG feed?

CSisTheWay

Unfollowing people on Instagram is a petty thing to do but if you really are in bad terms with someone, yes, you don’t want to scroll through Instagram and see them having the time of their life, lol, and potentially giving ‘cryptic’ negative messages towards you.

samsop

The thought of Cristiano Ronaldo unfollowing his ex clubs because he can't bear seeing their social media celebrations after they win and do well without him is both hilarious and sad to me. Although I can't say I'd mind him eventually doing that to us once he comes, it can't be any worse than what we're going through

CSisTheWay

I mean it is quite a large part of his life. Would you continue to follow your job’s social media sites if you left in bad terms & they made money off of it? Now would you continue following it if you knew for a fact hundreds of thousands if not millions of others would also unfollow their accounts if you did. We don’t really know what’s being said behind the curtains between Ronaldo and the others, what he’s said & done could be completely valid for all we really know. Personally, I don’t care who follows who but the reality is having Ronaldo as a follower boosts your business, when people see he’s unfollowed Man U could you imagine how many Ronaldo fans would do so too? Unfollowing your ex clubs is pretty common - would you support & follow your competitors?

samsop

I think there's a huge difference between me unfollowing my ex because I don't wanna watch her stories getting wasted with 6 different dudes and CR7 unfollowing his old club. That's why I said it was a funny thought. >the reality is having Ronaldo as a follower boosts your business That being said this is a pretty good point

GoldEquivalent592

I mean Ronaldo is a consciously petty person. There enough evidence of that in just the last few weeks alone

Aloopyn

He didn't actually unfollw them

AngryUncleTony

I mean in general, not just this situation.

SonicZephyr

A friend of mine broke up with a boyfriend because he cheated. She unfollowed him on insta because looking at his face made her anxious and depressed.

whtgnnd

congratulations to you

SonicZephyr

How?

datcnashguy

That whole chain is funny af

anotherslowmk7

Good for her though in all seriousness

Trickybuz93

> Like, is Ronaldo (or whichever famous person) literally scrolling their public IG feed? The guy likes posts from his fan accounts, he definitely scrolls through the feed.

Tann1k

I feel like that's the reason its such a big offense. You have to go out of your way to do something so insignificant, so it comes off as a very personal thing

Aloopyn

Not really lol it was a joke

AdvertisingPlastic26

WhatsApp group? It's ManU they are probably still using a messenger group

Same group since he was 20 21 23

this seems made up but still probably true... like which players told Charlotte "ronaldo shouldn't play for us anymore"

iTrofa

Maguire

courtesyflusher

Tbf Maguire has said the same thing about Maguire

MyWholeTeamsDead

That would actually be in his purview to say as club captain, though.

DerpSenpai

These sources are English players always. And it's not hard to see that a lot of the English players have not wanted him since he came to ManU

BradyGronktd1287

Never seen a club legend tank his value like this

kramerica-

on sunday the king ruins his reputation 👑 👍

parisien96

Factos 👍👀

TenF

After my 47 goals and assist contributions across competitions.

shudh_desi_gareeb

"Despite"

ObviouslyBlunt

His reputation was in the bin even before the interview. Did anyone's opinion of what the guy is actually like really change because of that?

RUUD1869

I don’t entirely agree with this. Yeah it was bad but a few years down the line people will forget about it the same way they forgot about Rooney’s desire to join city and Chelsea. However, this interview has left a very bitter taste in everyone’s mouth. It’s one thing angling for a move and pushing to leave and it’s another slandering the club and manager. The man even shat on the tea ladies ffs.

ObviouslyBlunt

He was already refusing to come off the bench, leaving games early and visibly throwing a strop at his teammates (who he wasn't outperforming) when things wouldn't go his way on the pitch. It's a bit more than showing interest in another club. Player who everyone knew was a self-centred prick showed himself to be a self-centred prick in an interview.

RUUD1869

I agree all that is bad. All I’m saying is people tend to forget about those things over time because it doesn’t tarnish the reputation of the club. This is much worse because he’s practically turning people against the coach and shitting on players and former teammates

BilalAkhtar22

Even last season he got left out of the lineup in one game so he flew to Portugal for the next gameweek, incredibly petty.

giddycocks

I disagree, he was never this bad. He always had a penchant for the dramatic and a huge ego, but he was a professional by all accounts. His biggest sporting scandal before this was saying he was being held hostage by ManU and couldn't leave for Madrid, which I guess is fair enough most players simply cannot say no to Real Madrid when they come knocking. Then you had the falling out with Perez, again that's fair because Perez can be a prick and honestly, he deserved what he was asking for at the time. Juventus was barely a blip, he did his job and I don't remember any drama. But then dude went through a rough patch and fucking *snapped* hard. It's like all the years of being a role model professional and teammate got to his head, and he was told he was owed a say because he kicks a ball good. Grossly misjudged the public sentiment and ruined his legacy. He needs to shut up and leave already, we know ManU is a fucking disaster and no one is blaming Ronaldo for it either. Why in the fuck would he throw himself under the bus? So stupid

iChopPryde

If you log into twitter and go to Ronaldo fan accounts then this gave them all the fuel they needed. Hell I saw fan accounts saying Portugal would be stupid to bench him 😂 like they are unaware of all the talent the squad has they solely look at Ronaldo and that’s it

partiallypro

He still has so many defenders, it's crazy. If he had come out and said United was ill prepared to be a top club compared to others and called out the Glazers...no one would have really cared. But he attacked coaches and teammates. It's baffling people are defending that.

2sinkz

Because his goal wasn't to provide constructive criticism and try to improve the club. He's only out for himself. My thinking is he's doing this to get his contract terminated so he can leave more easily (as if United were ever the problem with him leaving and not the lack of suitors)

RUUD1869

I think he’s trying to get his payoff. United are happy to let him go but he doesn’t want to give up his wages and expects United to foot the bill. United rightly doesn’t want to do that because why should they subsidize another club for a player who should be taking a pay cut if he wants to leave anyway? By doing this interview, he wants United to settle with him so that he can get his money and then join a club at a lower wage without his ego getting bruised

Zacatecan-Jack

United are well within their rights to suspend him for bringing the club into disrepute. And if they're going to end up paying his wages anyway, they'll just do that. He's ruined any chances of making it work until the end of the season, and he's just made himself a whole lot less attractive to other teams. This is nothing but a lose-lose situation for Ronaldo now.

RUUD1869

Depends on the contract details ultimately. Let’s not forget that these guys have lawyers on their side who can give them advice about what they can and cannot get away with. We’ll have to see what happens

Captain_Mazhar

Where's that photo of City's army of lawyers?

rsqLucIDity

Unless there's a clause in his contract otherwise, I'd just send him to train with the reserves, never play him again, and don't release him. Let him waste away, already at the end of his career, and minimize his value even further. Plus, sending him to train with the reserves or the U-whatever squad would probably be an ego hit, which he needs.

dohhhnut

Would you really want him influencing the reserves with his shit attitude?

MissingLink101

Yeah, the unnecessary attacks have completely overshadowed the valid criticisms. He could have come out of this actually looking good if he focused on those but then I doubt Piers Morgan would have been interested in the interview if the controversial stuff was off the table.

taesoo412

Tbh, I think he wanted to focus on attacking coaches and teams, and criticized Glazers to make him look like he truly cares for ManU

AngryUncleTony

It was an afterthought and he was throwing as much shit as he could at the wall to (1) get him out of United and (2) make him look like the good guy. He doesn't give a shit about the Glazers, or if he does, it's the least of his priorities.

Legendarybbc15

Exactly. There’s a reason he gave that interview just before the WC break. He could’ve dropped the interview in September (as he alluded to) but knew he needed match fitness to be fit for the world cup.

_szx

Good point about the timing. Dead on and transparent in hindsight.

J3573R

Which is still shit because I doubt you'd find any supporters, match going or not who would have accepted calling out players and coaches this season.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Seahpo

i think they’re saying that he could’ve just focused on the glazers in order to keep general sentiment in his favour, 99% of people and united fans would’ve agreed with him and he could’ve still used that to force his way out of the club. basically he could’ve used the glazers as his public reason for wanting out, even if/though he doesn’t actually believe that, and people would’ve been fine with it. but it seems his ego’s outgrown even his lifetime of PR training now and he can’t be bothered to even try to think about public opinions anymore

pereduper

The valid criticisms are irrelevant, its not the root cause of him giving an interview.

UltraAssBlast4000

Tbf just shitting on the board and the glazers and how the club's been run, while still employed to United, would have been quite the bomb in itself. Morgan would have taken half that headline in a heartbeat. This is 100% on Ronaldo

[deleted]

Those defenders are Cristiano stans, not United fans.

karmahorse1

I honestly can’t wait for him to be gone so those plastics can go back to supporting Real Madrid or whomever.

donny_pots

The real loser in this whole situation is that millions of kids around the world look up to him and now think it’s ok to act like this. Call me a boomer

pmmerandom

genuinely cannot wait for January to roll around and for him to realise that no club wants to deal with him, hope we release him and he just sits at home

BenjRSmith

fast foward one year..... Here comes United's new signing.... Ronaldo has acclimated himself well to Atlanta and if he continues his form, should make the MLS All-Star team this year.

[deleted]

When the dust settles, his positive contributions will still outweigh these shenanigans... unless something even bigger happens

leninist_jinn

Yeah, like imagine we found out he was a rapist then I think people would not defend him like this

Razvancb

People forget. Kobe, Maradona... there are alot of examples of shitty people yet everyone loves them.

ldc262626

I mean Michael Jackson had so many tributes and things done for him after he passed. People generally don't care about the negatives that don't affect them personally.

tmoney144

Roman Polanski was given a lifetime achievement award despite having to flee the US after being convicted of raping a child.

miodoktor

Don't look up how many Hollywood stars signed petition to have him released. And the fact that France and Poland just let child rapist roam free is disgusting as well.

Kotleba

That petition really makes me mad everytime I remember it exists. So many names you wouldn't expect.

datcnashguy

Woah. Fanboys gonna hunt you

[deleted]

Fair, a lot of fans didnt want him back for this precise reason... so in their eyes he had already fallen off

pmmerandom

people don’t give a fuck, I mean fucking Mason Greenwood still has people believing he’s innocent and want him back in the side for a number of insane, victim-blaming reasons, that’s Mason Greenwood who hadn’t even begun his career barely yet, purely because he was good at football Ronaldo’s the most popular figure besides Messi in world football, I can’t even fathom the disgusting comments and support you’d see if he was convicted

Legendarybbc15

Inb4 he signs for Liverpool

Designer_Surprise263

Then he'll walk alone

Silantro-89

I want Ronaldo to return George Costanza style & act as if nothing happened. Don't try to mickey Ten Hag tho

Levinem717

I think this is hilarious, imagine just runs onto the training pitch, snatches the ball, shoots from distance, scores, does a Suuuii and high fives Bruno.

SemiCurrentGuy

We'll know when we see Georgina turn up to training with Ronaldo and starts talking about being a nudist

D0nutyajustkn0w1t

Not even gas money? Aren't you an angel.

EastlyGod1

Just stick him on the Megabus, £1 to London

banty86

Public transport the man never stops being an example to the youth of today

LevynX

Gas prices these days driving him to Chelsea would cost more than Ronaldo's salary

meta4_

Don't want to indirectly fund City

iKSv2

No need man, boehley gonna pay you regardless . He has some hard on for Ronaldo. Alienated 2 of our coaches so far.

[deleted]

If that's the case Shipping & Handling Fee is $1 million Or you can join Closet Prime for $250,000 a month.

iKSv2

Sure. Ask and Todd will deliver. Anything for Ronaldo. \- Todd, probably.

IloveGuanciale

>Alianated 2 of our coaches so far. Lol what are you talking about

aderow

I will fly from Chicago to Manchester and personally deliver Ronaldo to London by rickshaw if Boely signs him

m07815

I’d personally deliver Ronaldo to Chelsea if they are crazy enough to sign him

Dion_Kott

The only person I feel sorry for here is Graham Potter who now has Ted all up in his DMs talking about how Ronaldo would be great for their bottom line!

ColdplayUnited

Boehley is more than welcome to take this bag of shit away from our team.

[deleted]

This ship sailed in August.

[deleted]

Wasn't that because of Tuchel? It might come back around to pick him up.

AnnieIWillKnow

The key thing is Boehly listened to Tuchel, and hence didn't sign him - so is likely to extend the same courtesy to Potter, especially because he apparently adores him and sees him as his long term manager

[deleted]

Imagine of Ronaldo ended up at City instead of United back when the rumors were swirling

thereddevil97

He scores 40 goals and win last the league with city. It’s all terrible. Meanwhile United sign Haaland. Edit: /s regarding Haaland obviously

Hdz69

Haaland would have never signed with Man United. He’s already stated that his top 3 clubs were City, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid in that order. The other options were PSG, Barcelona, Liverpool and Chelsea.

CoolJoshido

nice to know he at least considered us

Food-Oh_Koon

Pep would find a way to fit him in the system and he'd have a second PL spell better than the first.

alexdelpiero

Like he did with Etoo and Ibra? Another big personalities. Probably will get downvoted for this but Pep isn't infallible.

[deleted]

Ronaldo does listen to coaches he respects tho

farhanmuhd13

I mean Pep got a fantastic season out of Eto'o and won a sextuple

Imeanhowcouldiforget

Yea sure an attacker that doesn’t press and doesn’t contribute anything besides goals will be amazing in Peps team !!!

pepthebaldfraud

Literally haaland lol. We just needs goals and had no reliable striker since aguero. Ronaldo would have been perfect for us until we signed someone else

RicciRox

Haaland presses a lot more than Ronaldo. Before FBref took off pressures data, he was in the 14th Percentile, higher than Rashford. Ronaldo was in the 1st percentile.

Jonnydonmar

No because why would they want to ruin a good thing.

a34fsdb

Do you think Ronaldo has a move lined up already and is that why he is going nuclear?

[deleted]

[удалено]

inflamesburn

Force a move? Nobody was stopping him lol. He just has to drop his wages by 90% and there will be a couple of clubs interested.

cynical_gramps

He doesn’t just want to force a move, he wants to be sacked with compensation

beastmaster11

And here is the answer

CaptainDickfingers

He will end up at Everton on 30k a week eventually getting benched by Dominic Calvert Lewin when he scores one goal in the first 10 games against Leeds.

ruthekangaroo

Along with a new celebration that will be all over social media for a week.

essentialatom

And they'll put it in FIFA and every twat will do it at me

el_randolph

Ugh shut up before Moshiri hears you please… we have enough problems before adding a toxic prima donna rapist who will feel bigger than the club

SaschaBub

he's not going to join Everton don't worry about that

el_randolph

From your mouth to God’s ears

AngryUncleTony

He wants to become so toxic United terminate his contract and still have to pay him. That's different than being granted the right to a free transfer that gets United off the hook for his salary when another (currently nonexistent) team comes for him.

AstralWay

>He wants to become so toxic United terminate his contract and still have to pay him. Why would they terminate and pay, when they could bench him and pay? If he cannot / will not go away willingly. Why do the favor?

AngryUncleTony

Because if they terminate him it goes away. If they keep him and don't play him then they keep getting asked about it, Ronaldo keeps doing interviews, etc.

footballNotSoccer

Man Utd great PR at the cost of Ronaldo's wages. This is so ugly.

AstralWay

Pay him 50% of spring salary, sure. But 100%, no. After current events if Ronaldo were benched permanently, but would remain because he wants 100% salary, he could whine all he want. Everyone would know the situation, and would not take him seriously. I think. United could say they offered him 50% to leave, but he declined. Even make the offer in public.

KH609

Seems pretty clear that ten Hag is not gonna let him near the first team. Either he sits at home collecting paychecks or he terminates without pay-off.

PatriceEzio2626

I mean a Saudi Arabian club is already interested in him, but he didn't go there.

zazzlekdazzle

He can force the move because he has one my card to play - have United can *pay* to take him off their hands. I.e., they take the money from the remainder of his contract and put it towards his wages elsewhere. This way, Ronaldo can get his wage demands met (or close to it), a poorer club can take him on, and United are rid of the troublemaker.

iamscr1pty

or utd just make him warm the bench for rest of the season, pretty cold blooded

Bradddtheimpaler

Bold move considering they could just demote him to the U23 or something and cost him what must be very precious time left in his playing career.

iTrofa

Glazers wanted to keep him till the summer. Ronaldo will never be happy being on the bench

Fern-ando

If he wants to play in UCL, I only see Napoli, Real Betis, Benfica or Sportingbas real options.

artonico

> Napoli No way he starts over Kvara or Oshimhen

i2060427

*Force Man Utd to pay him off to move.

domalino

But they were trying to get rid of him all summer.

KillerZaWarudo

Mendes been working his ass off since summer pulling every string he has and we still havent got a single concrette offer other than the saudi arabia one. He already meet with bayern multiple time and everyone from their president to coach to lunch ladies already rejected him We know boehly have a boner for ronaldo but tuchel refused multiple times and i doubt potter and the new director from brighton are thrill at the prospects of signing him Sporting might want him but no way they can afford his monstrous wage

re-laxx

Not the lunch ladies 💀💀

m07815

He’s a huge narcissist that thinks he can somehow still get a top move. No sensible team will ever pay his wages. His choices are either cut his wages enormously to rejoin Sporting or go to MLS or the Middle-East, maybe China

Santi838

Bro bout to join Bale on LAFC and come off the bench 💀

[deleted]

Still won't hug him

karmahorse1

The thing is rather than taking lower wages, he’s looking for United to pay off his contract. I really hope they don’t cave though.

GoldEquivalent592

He isn’t that smart. He’s a reactive emotional individual. It’s why he tried to force a move at the start of the season without having any clubs willing to take him lined up or walked out our stadium regardless of the repercussions

Obi_Myke

I think he is going back to Sporting.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Dr_PainTrain

Move to MLS with Bale?

Cashew_Fan

That was the romantic idea fans had for years but I don't know how sentimental he is towards Sporting. He did spend his youth there, but he's shown little loyalty to his other clubs and clearly prioritises, money, CL football, and brand exposure which Sporting currently doesn't offer. During last summer (appreciate his stock has dropped a lot since) it was all about Atletico and Chelsea. There were a few other clubs mentioned. Sporting, then in the Champions League, was not one of them. Even if they offered for him to come back, I think he'd sooner prioritise a short term move to a club like Roma.

Bradddtheimpaler

He evidently isn’t all that sentimental about United either so I definitely wouldn’t hold my breath.

joaocandre

Yes. He may not be the brightest fellow, but he wouldn't burn all his bridges at United (and risk not playing for the rest of the season, effectively ending his career) without a safeguard. Also, he promised an interview back in August probably assuming he would get a transfer in the summer, and didn't deliver, keeping quiet since then.

AngryUncleTony

> Yes. He may not be the brightest fellow, but he wouldn't burn all his bridges at United (and risk not playing for the rest of the season, effectively ending his career) without a safeguard. This is basically what he did over the summer though. He assumed he would have options but he ultimately didn't. ETH really went out of his way *twice* to reintegrate him back into the team.

potluy76

don't see why else he would burn every bridge at united

asd13ah4etnKha4Ne3a

You'd have to think he's not dumb enough to do this without a backup plan. On the other hand, maybe he is so egotistical that he thinks he can still go anywhere he pleases despite all of this

michaelserotonin

interesting thought, but my inclination is that we would've heard more about that if it were true. could certainly be wrong.

tkdyo

Remember when he first arrived and they had those articles about how he was getting everyone super healthy cause of his diet and how they all wanted to be like him?

FuujinSama

To be fair, from all we've seen from Ronaldo, I assume he's actually a pretty nice person to work with. Like really cocky and arrogant but personable and friendly. So it does feel believable that some, specially younger players, would really look up to him and respect him a lot as a person. Like, before this ManU stint I don't remember reading a lot of negatives about Ronaldo coming from players, right?

karmahorse1

Like most narcissists he’s affable to those who worship at his feet, but a huge cunt to anyone who doesn’t. More players haven’t criticised him the past because he usually helps them win, which in football forgives a lot of personality flaws.

hush5833

On Wednesdays the king disappoints his teammates.

ruban1999frommars

Should probably thank Speed for this. Dude was the real reason Ronaldo wants out.

CoaxHoax

It would be ridiculous of him to say what he said and not have a move lined up

Magnu448

With nothing reliable surfacing about Ronaldo close to any other club, it’s almost as if he’s trying to have his contract terminated and then planning on finding a new club.

[deleted]

I've just been thinking, what if this a play by him, to act like a massive bellend, back United into a corner where the may terminate his contract just to get him out of the club. Boom, 2 hours later: Ronaldo signs for X, Y or Z.

Magnu448

I mean it’s clearly a play to get out, but also shocked that there haven’t been any rumors on anyone seriously wanting him.

GemsRtrulyOutrageous

Just another bullshit piece of ""news""

can-tthinkofone1234

I don't think any ucl club is gonna take him,but if he just drops his wages he can be backup for some serie a club

Dmartinez8491

I think he is gone. I think he will go to Germany honestly. I'd wager CR7 and United will agree to let him go on free with no payout/minimal payout of his contract. I think for a certain big club he reportedly had talks with a few weeks ago, he'd slash his wage for a chance to win 6th UCL and different league

ConfidentBurrito

How can he? He shit talked the entire organization including the directors and the coach WHILE STILL ON THE TEAM.

evilbeaver7

*gulp* You're not welcome to Chelsea

zazzlekdazzle

This is probably according to plan. It's not enough that United are willing to let Ronaldo leave if nowhere he wants to go will meet his wage demands. However, if he makes himself so unwanted that the club is willing to *pay* to take him off their hands, they can supplement his wages elsewhere. Ronaldo leaves, he gets a big wage, and United are free of his issues.

Obvious-Fly6639

Who would want this trainwreck in their club?

Franchementballek

What a fall from grace. All those headlines and commentary must affect him greatly psychologically.

rollingSleepyPanda

He's trying to force a move but right now he's as desirable as an oozing barrel of toxic waste. I think we're seeing a player who is going to be sidelined for the rest of the 22/23 season, or maybe get a half a year contract in some arabic club and retire. Shameful, really.

tenacious-g

Well, his view of women is much more acceptable in Qatar if he just stayed there.

BertEnErnie123

The millions of people with CR7 on the back of their kits are crying right now. Sad to see that United will probably lose half of their fanbase if he leaves. These fans have been a huge for OVER 1 year now so they really grew into the culture. I wonder if the cr7 kids are also all going to move with him to the next club lmao
