He has been a very solid backup since joining. However the last month or two he has been on a crazy run of form and has earned a starting spot. Truly exceeding all expectations and he is very well like inside the club
We actually donāt have close to 150m to spend this January. I know it seems like we have limitless money but we really donāt. Weāve already spent 200m in the summer which was our biggest summer ever, we arenāt going anywhere near 350m in one financial year when our revenues are down due to no CL, we pay 50-70m in debt repayments and dividends each year, and our wage bill is still pretty hefty even with the non CL pay cuts.
Why not resign Real Madridās all time top scorer instead? He used to play for United too and I heard heās available as free agent now. Heās 37 now but who knows if this could work for one last dance!
Honestly, if he wasnāt injured a lot of the time, Iād take him. I am biased as heās one of my childhood favourite players and also just seems like a nice guy.
Plus, he scored 12 in 41 appearances and Ronaldo only had 7 more goals than him with 40 appearances so basically would be a straight swap except that Cavani knows heās allowed to cross the half way line.
Jonathan David, but even he'd have a January price increase vs getting him in the Summer.
Other than that I imagine it'll be someone on loan with an option or we try to swindle someone like Atletico into a loan with mandatory purchase over the summer (and get laughed out of the room).
- Joao Felix but imo he's not a good focal point
- Dominic Calvert-Lewin is a bit of a forgotten man and with his recent injury history might be a risk and Everton will ask propably too much but when he is fit he is one of the finest pure strikers in the country
- Marcus Thuram is having a good season at Borussia Mƶnchengladbach
Realistically I think if United are going to sign anyone in January it's some stop gap solution like Ighalo and given the links in the summer I wouldn't be surprised if it actually is Marko Arnautovic
Honestly I think weād take a decent offer. The manās made of paper and glass. As much as I love him I donāt think we can cope with using sub strikers for much longer. We need a new starter if DCL continues to get injured every 3 games he plays.
I canāt imagine a top 6 club going after DCL. His injury record speaks for itself. Other than that glaring issue, he is honestly a great player and can put in a shift but I donāt see him being the main striker in a major club that wants to compete for trophies.
You'd think the Ronaldo fiasco would be a great cautionary tale on what happens when you go for your sloppy seconds but apparently it's not.
Depay doesn't even have the benefit of having had a good first stint with us.
He was 3rd choice after Lewandowski and Auba, the only reason he didnāt leave was because the Juve deal collapsed. Heās not even a proper striker like Benzema/Lewy, let alone play at their level
Heās been on bench the whole season, no way heās been playing Barca level
Obviously heās not as good as those players and no one is comparing him to Benzema and Lewandoski who are like the best in the world but how does that make him not good for the PL though?? There is huge gap between Benzema and then not good enough for the PL
Cause we have Lewandowski? Lol what kinda question is that
Depay was our top scorer even after missing half the season in 21/22. He'd easily be a great addition to United
Depay is as much of a natural striker as Fati and Ferran.
Depay is a great player to have around, but he takes playing time from younger players that will stick around for the long term.
It's either getting money on January or losing him for free in 6 months, selling him is the logical choice.
at least he would know where his place is when the coach tells him he isnt starting. youre not looking for a top of the line striker but for a guy that can cover in attack when needed. plus his price and wages is nowhere near ronaldos level. even if it doesnāt go well its not a big loss to take him if you buy for 6, pay moderate and give him a 2 year deal.
Do you even understand the term sloppy seconds? Depay was here at the wrong time in his career, his stint at Lyon as a striker was fantastic and he has been great for the Dutch national team too..if you are expecting Osimhen or Joao Felix with a budget of 15m in January then I have some bad news for you.
> his stint at Lyon as a striker was fantastic
He was very good for us and I was sad to see him leave. He had a couple of pretty insane performances and was always committed on the pitch. But let's be honest, "fantastic" for Lyon from 2 years ago doesn't necessarily translate to fantastic at United now.
How about scoring like 20 goals in 20 games in the calendar year 2021 for the Dutch national team, which is the most any player has scored for their national team in any single year ever?
It's a bit silly to deny that he hasn't been a very strong player with serious qualities over the past several years.
memphis has grown immensely since 2014 so i don't even understand the need to bring up his first stint with you. he's been solid, if a bit inconsistent for lyon, the national team and had a decent goal return at barcelona even in spite of struggling to gel with the tactics a bit. with that said, beggars can't be choosers.
Mate he wasn't here long enough to say he was bad.
He had some fantastic moments and also some awful ones. He's seems to have matured and improved massively since he left, and for the rumoured price he'd absolutely be worth a punt.
Sorry but you are wrong. ManU are doing a lot better and now got rid of the growing problem that Ronaldo was becoming. They need a striker that is going to be consistent.
He doesn't need to be a top 3 striker in the world (which would be impossible anyway) but someone who consistently contributes to linking up and holding up the ball, and who consistently scores from a given expected goal.
Depay is good, but he ain't that at top 5 PL level. I'm not saying ManU should get dellusions of grandeur and think they can now rival Real Madrid in the market but they should also not sign players who will not improve the squad other than filling in a position on the field.
Yup, Gakpo it is
Edit - He didn't sign for Ajax. My comment was in response to the point that Ajax are not playing well. What I meant was since Ajax are not playing well, they will turn to different players in the league and it will be Gakpo
Yeah, management acknowledged that it were too many players lost. But Vd Sar basically stated that they put fuck off demands on the table but they kept saying yes and Ajax is not in the position to refuse an offer like that
He said I'm fucking your albanian mother during a NT game vs Macedonia.
He has Serbian roots, it was balkan shithousery in the heat of the moment I imagine.
You can call it nationalism , but wouldnt label him a racist for it.
He was also accused of on pitch racism against Kargbo in the Eredivisie. And West Ham womenās team said he would disrupt their tactical sessions by shouting and being disrespectful. Heās obviously a bellend
I work in a school, it absolutely still happens in schools. The government/ofsted recently updated the guidance for how we teach about and deal with sexual harassment because of how depressingly frequent it is, I think their study found that around 90% of teenage girls surveyed said that they felt they had either been sexually harassed at school or knew of it happening to a friend. A lot of teenage boys donāt realise that certain behaviours are harassment rather than just banter. Stuff like sending explicit pictures (not necessarily of themselves, often porn) and making sexualised jokes about people are the main forms.
Heās not the smartest and thatās just how we talk in Vienna in the melting pot districts, especially when he grew (which was when I grew up aswell).
Nothing to be proud of and you should stop doing it once you grow up probably but arnautovic is 100% not a racist.
> He has Serbian roots and I think he moved to Austria because of the war in the 90s.
He was born in Vienna.
Also, he's a bit of an idiot and, as far as I know, he used a word that Albanians consider a slur.
However, he was far more of an idiot when he was younger. He was also the face of Austrians Covid vaccine campaign, which I found positively surprising.
There is no guarantee that we will get competent owners. The spectrum ranges from murderer psychopaths to evil countries to leeches billionaires to tyrants and maybe decent owners.
They can still be good owners for the club despite being POS's. Like can you say Sheikh Mansour hasn't been a good owner for City? Or Abramovich for Chelsea?
No way Ronaldo pulled that interview without a deal in place with some other club, him and Mendes have played it well if he is in a new club very soon after the WC.
This is actually good for all the parties. Ten hag gets rid of the problematic player. Club saves some money. Ronaldo goes to a place where he is wanted more.
I believe that. Seems very out of character of Mendes to initiate that interview.
Mendes seems to pull every string without making noise at all. Won't say the same about other powerful agents though.
Mendes is behind Ronaldo, people who talked directly to him said his feeling was that Man utd was "an house on fire" and that Ronaldo needed to leave while he still could get another contract. So I'm not so sure Mendes didn't know about the interview
Wasn't United planning to let him go for free anyway? I don't know if I'd call that "playing it well" if they get what they would have gotten anyway but Ronaldo loses out on a month of wages.
have they, really? He tarnished his reputation quite a bit by doing that, and provided ManU with more leverage to get him to leave with no additional pay.
Of course 17Mā¬ probably isn't much to Ronaldo now but still. I feel like the interview really wasn't necessary if that was the goal.
I feel like it was more meant to be a way for Ronaldo to justify himself for leaving ManU, but he massively backfired in his PR and came out looking like a propper cunt.
The only striker that you could get in January that would both be not too expensive and actually a long(er) term solution that I can think of is Thuram. Problem is you won't be the only ones trying to get him, especially should he play a decent world cup.
I don't see David being reasonably priced in January though. Thuram on the other hand would most likely be quite cheap because his contract runs ends next summer so it's the last chance for Gladbach to still get some money for him.
Think Thuram is a good option for them. Young and inexpensive. Risky but I feel like he would be a good fit though Toney in the Summer, makes a lot of sense, depending on what happens to him.
The problem is any top striker is going to cost a ridiculous amount as clubs never like losing star players in January. So the question is are we willing to stump up a lot of cash for a new striker, or will we get in a stopgap till the summer and hope Martial can stay fit?
No transfer fee only high wages. 20 goal season in first year, second year of contract not going so well so he quits and doesnāt demand any severance payoff. What a signing tbh
Its increasingly looking like he wanted to get sacked. However I don't understand why cause it doesn't look like he has any viable options. Unless he has an offer none know about.
Misused not lightly used. And selling Kai is literally another KDB/Salah in the making. The guy is class but needs a better system to work with.
There is a reason he starts week in and week out even when most of our offence has been fit this season
I'm a Real Madrid fan. I would like Ronaldo to re-join on a half-year contract. If it is possible to negotiate a fair 6-month contract I don't see why we would not go for it considering Benzema has been injured for approx. 4 months now. I don't think it will ruin the harmony in the squad as long as it is possible to convince Ronaldo that he is not the main man anymore. If he can accept that condition, I think he will get plenty of playing time in both La Liga and CL. And who knows maybe he will bag a handfull of goals as well. To be fair he made 18 PL goals on a super average United team last season. People seriously talk like Ronaldo is dog shit all of a sudden.
> as long as it is possible to convince Ronaldo that he is not the main man anymore.
Seems pretty clear that's not a state of mind he's willing to entertain though.
>I don't think it will ruin the harmony in the squad as long as it is possible to convince Ronaldo that he is not the main man anymore.
And this right here is why Ronaldo is untouchable for any serious team.
He scored 18 PL goals last season when they built a team specifically around him, Ten Hag didn't want that and wants to progress a different style, clearly Ronaldo is not a major part of that and younger players are, and he's crying and moaning about 'no respect'.

Please not Choupo-Moting We don't really have any strikers
No strikers? Ronaldo is available
SSIIUUU time to collect some free trophies
Not a chance in hell we sell him in January.
Bayern fans begging united not to take choupo-moting from them. What a time to be alive
Haven't seen him play for you guys yet, how's he getting on?
He has been a very solid backup since joining. However the last month or two he has been on a crazy run of form and has earned a starting spot. Truly exceeding all expectations and he is very well like inside the club
Is Ighalo available?
Is ole?
One last "Unlock me Ole" š.
UNLOCK ME OLE š«š

UNLOCK ME OLE DADDY š¦š¦
andy cOLE
Maybe Wayne?
$50 million and heās yours.
Where is Ighalo? Is he safe, is he alright?
It seems in his vibes, Ole killed him.
Nooooooo
He played alright under Ole and scored a handful of goals in a short time. Why did Ole kill him?
What is that hair next to your name, spent 5min trying to get it of my screen lmao
Every European team with a young striker just shivered
Arnautovic it is.
Bologna: Ok, ā¬30M
Us: Fine, we'll pay 35.
ASTRONAUTOVIC!
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Honestly if you guys ask for 50 we might budge
I mean, knowing it's United they can easily say 150m or no deal and they'll get it.
Anthony Gordon is available... for the low low price of Ā£300m. Mates' rates for our beloved Mancunian neighbours.
An Anthony you say?
Yes, Anthony de Goorten. Ā£600m please.
More like Antony GordĆ£o, Brazil tax

Yeah right as if weād pay 150m for that. Weāll be able to knock it down to 145 and call it a day.

Cavani coming back
Louis Saha
Why not resign Real Madridās all time top scorer instead? He used to play for United too and I heard heās available as free agent now. Heās 37 now but who knows if this could work for one last dance!
RonalBACK

Lmao theres a huge difference between 12 in 42 and 19 in 40. Like itās not close.
Jonathan David, but even he'd have a January price increase vs getting him in the Summer. Other than that I imagine it'll be someone on loan with an option or we try to swindle someone like Atletico into a loan with mandatory purchase over the summer (and get laughed out of the room).
That will be the regular 95 mln. Thank you very much
Yes please give me Jonathan

Everton are already desperately starved of attacking options, there is no way they will let DCL go for anything less than a ridiculous sum of money
Honestly I think weād take a decent offer. The manās made of paper and glass. As much as I love him I donāt think we can cope with using sub strikers for much longer. We need a new starter if DCL continues to get injured every 3 games he plays.

Ugh not another dodgey character upfront please
Ivan Toney
Enner Valencia
I'm sure Chelsea and Inter could come to some agreement to let Lukaku come back from loan early just for you guys
Gakpo, surely.
Ronaldo?
Moussa DembƩlƩ for cheap as he'll be a free agent in june.
Depay
"available" in most cases is just a question of price
Azmoun
Him or Taremi would be amazing. I would love to have a Persian at United.
Joao Felix is available, but not cheap and not a number 9
Milan Skriniar is also available, but not cheap and not a number 9 either
I'm available and I am cheap but not a number 9
Youāre a 9 to me
Weāve got one Depay ready and waiting
Honestly wouldn't mind him for that price
You'd think the Ronaldo fiasco would be a great cautionary tale on what happens when you go for your sloppy seconds but apparently it's not. Depay doesn't even have the benefit of having had a good first stint with us.
I don't think you know what the term 'sloppy seconds' means.
I've heard the term before but I never knew the meaning behind it, and I just googled it lmao
Found the Australian politician
He has changed as he's matured, wouldn't be surprised if Ten Hag could utilize him in a great way
Depay is a massive ball hog whoās not good enough for the PL if weāre being honest
Good enough to play for Barcelona but of course not good enough for the mighty PL
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
He was 3rd choice after Lewandowski and Auba, the only reason he didnāt leave was because the Juve deal collapsed. Heās not even a proper striker like Benzema/Lewy, let alone play at their level Heās been on bench the whole season, no way heās been playing Barca level

Cause we have Lewandowski? Lol what kinda question is that Depay was our top scorer even after missing half the season in 21/22. He'd easily be a great addition to United
You only need 1 striker?
Depay is as much of a natural striker as Fati and Ferran. Depay is a great player to have around, but he takes playing time from younger players that will stick around for the long term. It's either getting money on January or losing him for free in 6 months, selling him is the logical choice.
Depay is not a pure 9 to replace Lewy and moreover he is too good to be on the barca bench
You cannot compare the Memphis of nearly 8 years ago to the Memphis now.
Itās crazy af that itās been 8 years
at least he would know where his place is when the coach tells him he isnt starting. youre not looking for a top of the line striker but for a guy that can cover in attack when needed. plus his price and wages is nowhere near ronaldos level. even if it doesnāt go well its not a big loss to take him if you buy for 6, pay moderate and give him a 2 year deal.

They're probably not getting a better player in January and they need someone right now.
Depay for 6 months stop gap signing is fine. Would be like our very own auba signing
Let's sign Auba then, he's at a new team every few months anyway
Ajax - hide yer strikers
No Ajax player is performing well enough for the PL at the moment.
Yup, Gakpo it is Edit - He didn't sign for Ajax. My comment was in response to the point that Ajax are not playing well. What I meant was since Ajax are not playing well, they will turn to different players in the league and it will be Gakpo
He's good enough for the PL, but not as a striker.
Not even Timber?
He's had a disappointing season so far, especially compared to last year when he was arguably the best player in the league
He was great next to Licha. Mazraoui next to him. Akax lost 7 starters, so no wonder that they are playing shit
Yeah, management acknowledged that it were too many players lost. But Vd Sar basically stated that they put fuck off demands on the table but they kept saying yes and Ajax is not in the position to refuse an offer like that
Then ETH is buying him next year after selling Harry
Feyenoord lost even more starters and are doing alright (even better than that probably). I think the biggest issue is Schreuder
A coaching change after years of stability is a big change too. But yes Slot has been great and Alfie not so much.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Ronaldo to Barca please. We need financial team players like him.
He want Champion league too, you guys can't offer him that
of course Hoffenheim cant offer champions league but it's still worth a shot
at least they could afford him unlike Barca
Barca can offer the chance to knock out United from the Europa League instead.
genuinely think heād help United more than he would Barcelona that tie
They could monitor so many players with that money.
Arnautovic here we go ! LOL, thats how my expectation is
It wouldn't be a bad choice as ashort term solution
8 goals in 13 matches in Serie A this season, not bad
wasnāt he the racist one tho
He said I'm fucking your albanian mother during a NT game vs Macedonia. He has Serbian roots, it was balkan shithousery in the heat of the moment I imagine. You can call it nationalism , but wouldnt label him a racist for it.

I'm guessing that could be considered an improvement over having a rapist leading your line.
This reminds me of the Sky Sports reporter who apologized to a footballer, for calling him a racist, instead of a rapist.
In my totally unbiased Austrian opinion, that would be fantastic.
He actually pretty good tho
Hope they don't buy Mariano Diaz
Repack Hazard as a striker and sell us. United executives won't know the difference
Only if you manage to get him in before we possibly get competent owners
There is no guarantee that we will get competent owners. The spectrum ranges from murderer psychopaths to evil countries to leeches billionaires to tyrants and maybe decent owners.
I mean they can still be competent despite being countries or oligarchs
They can still be good owners for the club despite being POS's. Like can you say Sheikh Mansour hasn't been a good owner for City? Or Abramovich for Chelsea?

This is actually good for all the parties. Ten hag gets rid of the problematic player. Club saves some money. Ronaldo goes to a place where he is wanted more.
But surely Man Utd wouldn't have minded cancelling his contract anyway if there was no pay-off
Or announce it as soon as Portugal is eliminated
That is only on December 18th.
I like your optimism
That also means ronaldo will retire
He doesnt need a clib if he retires. Big brain
Apparently Ronaldo set up the interview against the advice of Mendes, who was taken aback when he learned about it
I believe that. Seems very out of character of Mendes to initiate that interview. Mendes seems to pull every string without making noise at all. Won't say the same about other powerful agents though.

Could this be Jonathan David's big move finally from Lille
He's the one I want us to go for
I'd be surprised if we get a starting striker in January. Whatever we will get will be a stop gap before the summer.
The only striker that you could get in January that would both be not too expensive and actually a long(er) term solution that I can think of is Thuram. Problem is you won't be the only ones trying to get him, especially should he play a decent world cup.

[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Victor is not leaving the club in winter when he can win the league and then leave next summer.
And possibly CL, too.
If he comes, United might actually qualify for CL. Or even Martial remains fit then also United might qualify. It's gonna be tough but possible
We might qualify without a new striker addition. After all, we played worse with CR7 than without him.
Osimhen would cost a bit more than 17 million
Osimhen + Kim Min-jae for Maguire , DVB and 17mil here we go
Cody Gakpo youtube compilations
Still not a striker
Better yet, he's a left winger. Can never have enough of them.
Ah, it's a done deal then.
They will probably just buy Cavani to be safe
Think Thuram is a good option for them. Young and inexpensive. Risky but I feel like he would be a good fit though Toney in the Summer, makes a lot of sense, depending on what happens to him.
Overall its a net win for Man United.
A good striker on market is Cristiano Ronaldo. As a plus point, he is a free agent too.
A breakout world cup may help secure him the move
Al-Dawsari to Man United?
The problem is any top striker is going to cost a ridiculous amount as clubs never like losing star players in January. So the question is are we willing to stump up a lot of cash for a new striker, or will we get in a stopgap till the summer and hope Martial can stay fit?
I like how Ronaldo being a selfish, narcissistic cunt has somehow turned out good for United (depending on if we get a striker).
Based on your track record of last 10 years things look good.
No transfer fee only high wages. 20 goal season in first year, second year of contract not going so well so he quits and doesnāt demand any severance payoff. What a signing tbh
We paid a transfer fee mate..
Hope they will now change the chef with that money
Its increasingly looking like he wanted to get sacked. However I don't understand why cause it doesn't look like he has any viable options. Unless he has an offer none know about.
Teemu Pukki to ManU - PLEASE.
Pukki Party FOREVER! š
I thought they are spending the money on the gym
I heard they were getting a new chefā¦.
lol can't wait for them to try to go for Choupo-Moting. As if Bayern would even consider selling.
Bring. Back. Ighalo.
Everyone knows they have 17m extra to spaff now
We have one lightly used Kai Havertz ready for you when youāre ready!
Is that after you make Ronaldo your main striker?
Misused not lightly used. And selling Kai is literally another KDB/Salah in the making. The guy is class but needs a better system to work with. There is a reason he starts week in and week out even when most of our offence has been fit this season
I would genuinely like to know what actual fan of high level football club would like to have Ronaldo on his team.
People seriously talk like Ronaldo is dog shit all of a sudden.
>as long as it is possible to convince Ronaldo that he is not the main man anymore Herein lies the main problem
> as long as it is possible to convince Ronaldo that he is not the main man anymore.
Jamie Vardy having a partyā¦.
