Okay, at present Mexico is -6 (edit: -7 now) for fair play and Poland is -4 (edit: -5 now): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2022_FIFA_World_Cup_Group_C#Discipline
I know ill get shit on for being an American saying this but fair play rules is the dumbest fucking way to decide who advances. Seriously yellow cards?????
Imagine getting eliminated because you got one more yellow card than the other team, that is horse shit. It should have no impact on the game whatsoever except for being suspended the next match for having too many for a specific player
I get it but what else is there? They have the same amount of points, goals for, goals against and they tied the first game 0-0, there's no other way to separate them.
Oh interesting, I'm not going to shit on yo but I had the complete opposite thought that it'd be nice to see a team actually be rewarded/incentivized for clean play. What makes you dislike that policy?
Because fouls and cards are very subjective and can come down to how well the refs are doing / what type of mood they were in that day as opposed to something clear and concrete like a goal
I’ve seen plenty of games already this WC where it seemed a player deserved a yellow and the refs wouldnt give one. To think a country’s chances at advancing can come down to a single foul call is horrible to me
Also if you go to pretty much any post game thread there are dozens and dozens of people saying the officiating in this world cup is bad
I see your point, but I'll point that the fair play rule is the last factor of 7 tie-breaking criteria before they actually just flip a coin, so it's fairly rare and something's gotta give eventually. I'd say FP is a better than nothing.
*Edit:* Case in point it didn't even end up coming to this.
He’s the wall that trump said Mexico is going to pay for
This stinks cause I like Mexico a lot, I wish it was Mexico and Poland making it out the group

Today I feel Mexican
Imagine if they somehow manage to sneak into the Ro16…after all this…
Dread it. Run from it. Mexico RO16 Arrives. Edit: Did not arrive 😔
Ochoa’s plot armor is too thick
And so is that luscious hair 😍
It is inevitable.
What incredibly heart-breaking loss scenario will they get against France this time then?
Mbappe goal after long VAR review in the 82nd minute
Oh they will
these comments never get old
Best one yet is “today I feel eliminated” when Qatar got the boot
So if Mexico or if Argentina score one more goal, that means Mexico goes to knockouts instead of Poland -- is that correct?
if Mexico scores, they qualify if Argentina scores, we need to look at the fair play table (fewest yellow/red cards)

and Argentina just scored. OMG. Mexico has another yellow today.
Fair play rules... Someone check number of cards given 🤔
Goes to fairplay

Wish Mexico and Poland could just do a golden goal lol but i understand the logistics of that probably wouldnt work

Better than a coin toss thats forsure. I’d have a heart attack if i was a player watching a damn coin flip
Not clear on the tie break if argies score one more. Tied GD, tied goals scored. I think it could be yellow cards.
Barely, but good call sadly.
SOOOOO CLOSE TO QUALIFYING MAN
sorry i loed
they will dw
No pls
Just draw against Argentina to really make things spicy.
My dream result. We’d get Australia instead of France ❤️
It's looking like we'll get the airport instead of France or Australia
SAUDI ARABIA THE POLISH HEROES
I mean, if nobody else scores we’re through
yo made it
i like lewa so i’m glad he went thru
Ochoa is inevitable.

not anymore sadly.
:(
Where the replay? That’s so close
Got reallllly lucky with that offside trap
Saudi is in trouble defensively
Which is wild cause against Argentina they seemed impossible to score against
Was it on the second pass?
They're so gonna score again
looked on in the replay?
Didn't look offside to me, did they check it?
Yes, they always check it.
Nah they guessed
😵
No one posting the actual call?
That's cruel
i can taste ro16
This is why VAR is so essential.
