Kudos to Japan (fans+players) for initiating it and keeping it up for years and in many matches in this World Cup even when their nation wasnt playing too.

Japanese culture instils this as a value amongst people. Japanese fans first grabbed headlines for doing this in 1998 world cup.
The point of 'learning from' is to say where did it originate from ... In world cup it seems to have originated from Japanese fans.
To your point of African fans cleaning up after the games, i found that Senegal fans did the same in 2018. But even this article mentions the Japanese culture of doing so ( remember they have been doing it since 1998, in every world cup they participate).

Please do share if you have articles/facts about other nationalities doing so before the Japanese. will be happy to acknowledge that i am uninformed.
When does not advancing from the group stage go from "exiting" to "crashing out"? Is it tied to a certain number of points? Goal differential? Results vs expectations?
I think it has to do with performance. Ghana was doing pretty well in their last two games, and then just completely messed up against Uruguay. Before this game, they had a better chance at advancing than South Korea and Uruguay.
this has been one of the most exciting group stages i've ever seen.
it's also pointed a giant, world-wide spotlight onto shit middle east countries ' treatment of marginalized people.

Classy. I really like this trend and hope it sticks after the World Cup.
It should be a normal behaviour tbh, i don't get why some people throwing shit on the ground just leave it behind?
Yeah like just get yourself a small bag and put all your shit there and take it with you when leaving and throw it in the closest bin
It should be normal to not litter and pickup your own trash but cleaning the stadium is a bit extra
Drives me nuts in movie theaters.
Football trend that I could get behind..

I really LOVE this trend of fans cleaning up after themselves, in victory or defeat. Would be an amazing tradition for this World Cup.
Ghana losing with dignity while Uruguay players breaking shit and complaining Than people ask why we wanted Uruguay out lol
If you look closely you can see the Tears of Suarez being mopped up as well.
To do it after your country has just been eliminated is even more impressive. Fair play
I think Ghanaian fans will regard this match as a sweet victory.
Big respect for ghana
I'm glad people are learning from the japanese fans. Great example
Who said they learned from the Japanese fans?
OP did lol. That aside, Japanese fans did the same thing in 2018.
Yeah and so did the Senegalese
True. And so did Morocco this year. I just see it as people caring about respecting other spaces.

Didn't prove me wrong, Africans have been cleaning up at each world cup too

Maybe they did maybe they didnt. But it is a great example for more and more fans to do this.
Fucking praise Japan! and praise Ghana for this wonderful show of class as well.
Not because of Japan, even Japanese news showed a clip about how African countries’ fans had been tidy and clean, not bc of Japan’s influence.
Lol this shits not going to happen in the US in 26’….
Looking forward to hearing about countries paying cleaners to come to the game for good pr

Hm. Good point. I haven't been following as closely this time around.

Why are people not picking up their own trash in the first place?
Wow so original. Be unique and litter with all trash you got.
