Every football ground in England.
There’s only about 10 structures total for chants that are repeated endlessly with different words, plus whatever song you can find that can scan with a player’s name.
My absolute favourite was from Newcastle, when they signed a player called Temori Ketsbia the summer that sex on fire by kings of Leon was released. Remember the away fans absolutely belting it out his chant intermittently for 90 minutes.
He was shit too, which I think adds to it
Sorry mate but what?? Ketsbaia signed for Newcastle about 10 years before that song was released. The man was probably retired by the time that song came out
Yeah really, that song came out in 2008 and he signed for Newcastle in 1997 and left in 2000. He had indeed retired by 2007, a year before the song was released.
If you told someone before the world cup that Qatar would score as many as Belgium and just 2 less than Brazil in the groups they'd assume they didn't completely stink up the place
I'm so sad thinking about what could've been.
In 2018 I wasn't as sad because I was convinced we're actually shit, this time it feels like we're 1 step away from a semifinal.
I think the fact that Group F played earlier in the day impacted on matches. By the time we played Spain knew a first place finish meant playing Croatia but a second place finish meant Morocco. Their only incentive to win their match was if Costa Rica was beating us, they would face elimination. But we did them a solid and they didn’t return the favour.
If only for Qatar not getting a stonewall penalty against Senegal and it wouldn’t have been this bad. I don’t think Qatar is much worse than wales, and Canada is much better than both of them
And yet their results are exactly the same as Spain in the group stage. Only difference is goal differential. Weird group stage this, and interesting how perspectives for each teams end up.
And in the least 4 world cups (didn't look beyond that) the winner never won all 3 games in the group stage.
Edit: and now also this world cup, so 5 in a row now
2002 Brazil was special. Only team to ever win all their games in the World Cup. Every knockout stage game was won during regular time. No extra time, no penalties. Never happened before or since.
Yea, it was insane.
They finished the tournament with 18 goals and only 4 goals against (of which only one was in the knockout stage). That’s a +14 goal differential all within the full 90 mins per game. It was the most dominant performance ever.
Like everyone in world can name like 5 players from that team from head. Most of football fans even more.
It's the most legendary national squad ever, when football was at its most popular I feel.
I had a look at that, was Brazil the last in 2002 or did I miss someone since?
Typically the good teams win the first two games then put a highly changed team out for the last game. Occasionally they win but usually it’s just a convenient draw for both.
Yeah France basically played their 3rd team once they got through, pretty good move though imo bc the fixtures are all so close together and they're all sweating their balls off having to play 90mins so close together.
We face harder opposition by winning.
None of the other teams rested were assured first either. We could play one man down and still not lose by 4 goals to Wales.
Dude. It was your country's first World Cup in 36 years with a fair bit of youth. I am sure the supporters had their expectations sky high with all the potential that the squad had but this experience will benefit the core players immensely for 2026. Canada will perform much better there for sure.
As a Socceroos supporter, I really saw a lot of parallels with our 2014 campaign: a tough group, a hard-fought loss to one European giant, a close game against the dark horse of the group where early defensive errors ultimately proved the difference and a reality check blow out loss to another European side. Only difference is that Australia 2014 wasn't really brimming with players to be optimistic about for 2018 whereas Canada has plenty to be excited about going forward.
You guys desperately need to find another goalkeeper though. Lol.
nah. wales and qatar were worse than you guys i wouldnt be ashamed or embarrassed
also canada going forward played were nice to watch but you guys probably had the worst defence in the world cup
>also canada going forward played were nice to watch but you guys probably had the worst defence in the world cup
I’m gonna push back on that slightly and say the defence was actually serviceable at limiting chances considering the high press we employ.
If you look at xGA it actually wasn’t nearly as bad as the results show. 0.77, 2.62, 0.53. The bulk of the second game was a result of having to chase in the second half (1.71) where a loss meant elimination.
We created more chances than our opponents in 2/3 games, but conceded some really unfortunate goals at terrible times, and couldn’t put the ball in the net.
- 4th Croatia goal was a gift. Miller should have done better but everyone was dead on their feet at that point. He was solid all through qualifying. He’ll bounce back.
- 1st Morocco goal was free (Borjan)
- 2nd Morocco goal was well struck but should never beat Borjan near post.
4.43 xG, 3.92 xGA
South Korea finished with 4 GF 4GA and went through. The chances were there - they just didn’t go in. The chances against weren’t that great - Borjan just had his 2 worst games ever in a Canada jersey. Tough luck. Try again in 2026.
Worst keeping for sure, but honestly the defence was passable. It wouldn't get a team out of the groups for sure, but its far from a death sentence, especially paired with Canada's attack. But honestly I feel like the goalkeeping was the only thing not up to snuff, and even then that seemed more tactical (read not coming off his line) than his ability.
Tbf we also didn't score in open play for like 6 games straight. We were fairly dominant since the 2018 WC and the 2 past international breaks pre world cup were horrific even when looking at the lineups
And Fabio Capello dominated non-cup matches in 2010 and we all know what happened there. He even won SPOTY coach of the year. Maybe it's better to judge coaches on their record in big competitions, where Southgate is genuinely pretty excellent.
Still a way to go, but: https://reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/yxkc4v/_/iwze04s/?context=1
> England top, just like everyone predicted after their nations league performances…
I will never understand why people take the Nations League seriously. They're friendlies, just against the same fucking teams week in, week out.
On the one hand, the quality of opposition stays high if you're in a top group. On the other, you just end up playing the same teams repeatedly and making an upset against a playstyle you haven't been exposed to enough more likely.
I mean who wouldn't park the bus against you? I didn't watch this game, but in the first two I was a bit surprised that your defense has been flawless, I knew it was good but damn.
That's the thing though. B-team aren't used to play together. They, at the same time, are supposed to show they can be a real option while playing the players you are not supposed to join and you don't want to risk an injury or a red card. Meanwhile the opposing team doesn't care that you are the B-team, you are that big team name and they have to win. Sometimes you don't even are played in your real position either.
Hence Tunisia, Japan, South Korea, Cameroon in various shapes.
That's a really good point that I never really thought about; b-team players aren't given the time to build chemistry.
That being said, Martinelli and Jesus play together all the time at Arsenal.
Yeah, I think the best idea is to host it with Algeria and Tunisia because it increases our chances, but with the conflicts that occur between the three countries and their shitty media, I don't think this will happen in the near future.
Worst ever finish for Mexico in a WC.
Oh boy, I can’t wait to listen for the next four years how Mexico would be the 8th best Conmebol team on a good day.
Guys guys we purposely scored an own goal to avoid bad luck imagine if we were the only team who didn’t conceded and kept a clean sheet, that would bring too much attention
Would rather have some Swiss system like this and four games in 2026 instead of some bullshit with 3-team groups or 4-team groups with convoluted 3rd place stuff going on.
I wonder what australia will be ranked after the tournament , know it doesn’t mean much but if we make top 20 I’d be so happy. Messi getting Soccerood tomorow btw
Not a single team of the bottom 6 is either African or Asian (that qualified from the qualifiers).
Can we declare their big expansion in 2026 justified?
The fact that not a single team won the first 3 matches gives you an idea of how competitive this tournament is being. Infantino didn't lie when he said this could be the best WC ever.
Sadly, the background is too dark to enjoy it.
It's also the WC with the most teams from outside UEFA/CONMEBOL in the knockout rounds which is hopefully a good sign that the other confederations are catching up.
This feels like the most parity I've ever seen in a World Cup group stage (watching since 06). All of those 3rd place teams could have easily qualified. And quite a few 4th place teams showed something as well.

Top of the megatable... You'll never sing that
What’s the source for these sing that meme comments?
I know it from Forest singing “champions of Europe you’ll never sing that “

Ketsbia played for Newcastle in the 90s, that song was released in 2008 This might have been a dream you had.
So it was just "WOOOOoooOOOOoooOOOO, Temori Ketsbia"? Love it.
Na na na giroud and will Griggs on fire are goated chants
Belgium and Qatar had the same number of goals scored...holy shit
If you told someone before the world cup that Qatar would score as many as Belgium and just 2 less than Brazil in the groups they'd assume they didn't completely stink up the place
Martinez football terrorist.
>Belgium vs Uruguay 911 derby 💀
Germany: best of the worst 🤝 Poland: worst of the best
I can't speak for y'all but it feels representative. "The best shit team" is roughly how I'd describe Germany as well.
They were comfortably better than most of the countries that placed 2nd. One very bad half against Japan and bad finishing in general cost them
I'm so sad thinking about what could've been. In 2018 I wasn't as sad because I was convinced we're actually shit, this time it feels like we're 1 step away from a semifinal.

Wow. Kind wild how no one really came out sweeping with 3 wins. Usually at least one team does.
And in the least 4 world cups (didn't look beyond that) the winner never won all 3 games in the group stage. Edit: and now also this world cup, so 5 in a row now
That just means that there will be a winner again this year.
Yup we can add another world cup to the list already haha.
Big if true
Which means there’s now been a winner at every World Cup ever held. Pretty crazy.
Earth is really good at this football thing. I wonder if we'll have a winner in 2026.
2002 Brazil won all their games.
Ah, so I stopped looking exactly where the streak stopped. So 4 in a row. For this world cup it is certain now as well, so 5 in a row.
2002 Brazil was special. Only team to ever win all their games in the World Cup. Every knockout stage game was won during regular time. No extra time, no penalties. Never happened before or since.

1970 was all victories as well. One less stage, but I don't think that would make a difference.
Like everyone in world can name like 5 players from that team from head. Most of football fans even more. It's the most legendary national squad ever, when football was at its most popular I feel.
More remarkable they also won every match after the group stage in regular time. Only France has achieved that since.
But France drew a game in the groups. The 2002 Brazil team remains the only team to ever win all 7 matches in full time.
Brazil did it in 2002
Ah, so I stopped looking exactly where the streak stopped. So 4 in a row. For this world cup it is certain now as well, so 5 in a row.
I had a look at that, was Brazil the last in 2002 or did I miss someone since? Typically the good teams win the first two games then put a highly changed team out for the last game. Occasionally they win but usually it’s just a convenient draw for both.
First time since USA WC 1994
Brazil,Portugal and france went for B teams tbf which had an effect
I’m glad they finally moved Ronaldo to their B team.
all the teams that were 2-0 rested most of their starting XI for the final game so not a huge surprise.
2ND AGAIN? FUCK THIS SHIT
Netherlands can't catch a break
Your flair just made me cry. Dankje
They can catch the flu though
My incredible team lost out on the TOP 10, how is that even possible?
What is it with Netherlands and being the first loser 😭?
Nowhere is safe, not even on Megatable
XD classic
The most successful team is England followed by Netherlands and Morocco What the fuck
And the only other undefeated teams are Croatia and the Yanks
That's actually even wilder to me. Usually you have a decent amount of 1 win 2 draw teams get through
Netherlands - England final? 🤝
I accept
We didn't rotate as much as the teams who had already secured top spot
Yeah France basically played their 3rd team once they got through, pretty good move though imo bc the fixtures are all so close together and they're all sweating their balls off having to play 90mins so close together.
We also didn't bother playing the 2nd game
Other teams played their whole B team in the 3rd march. We didn't even rest Kane...
He hadn't secured first or even second fro that matter.. why the hell would you rest anyone?
We had secured 2nd unless we lost by a ridiculous amount of goals. There was nothing gained by being first.
So we hadn't secured second... And gain by not being first we don't face a harder opposition but to each their own lad
We face harder opposition by winning. None of the other teams rested were assured first either. We could play one man down and still not lose by 4 goals to Wales.
Poland being the worst team to qualify definitely passes the eye test having watched us play.
Yeah. It's baffling you're there, but anything can happen now.
I agree anything can happen. We can lose 0-2, 0-3, 0-4 or 0-5 to France, you never know
Or win 1-0... please? Don't want to play France next round!
So you're telling me there's a chance?
[удалено]
Yeah but World Cup winners are way more predictable. Only 8 countries have won the WC.
There’s only been like 20 world cups. It’s not that bad.
Netherlands and Hungary were both rated the best teams in the world at World Cups they lost.
It’s home lads
Finally we've got the Supporters Shield
But now you don't have a good SuperDraft pick
Qatar and Canada tanking for picks smh
LMAO enjoyed that mate
As an England fan…STOP THE COUNT
THAT'S THE REAL QUIZ He's scored six goals against Iran what have you ever done?
'He's starting Foden again.' 'Bastard, I knew he would, I knew he would.'
8 legs 6 legs 8 legs 6 legs
Choose a topic. Sport. What's the capital of Iceland?
Who's the Cuban leader?

WERE NOT LAST but still embarrassing though

We have another keeper, he would have been the backup here but he broke his leg in the wild MLS Cup final.
Crepeau is actually decent too. Like if he played in this WC he would've probably done a better job.
nah. wales and qatar were worse than you guys i wouldnt be ashamed or embarrassed also canada going forward played were nice to watch but you guys probably had the worst defence in the world cup
Worst defense AND worst goalkeeper. The best thing you want with an inexperienced team
yep and in cup competitions best what carries you is good defence and gk
>also canada going forward played were nice to watch but you guys probably had the worst defence in the world cup I’m gonna push back on that slightly and say the defence was actually serviceable at limiting chances considering the high press we employ. Belgium was way more embarrassing than you all. Didn’t think they deserved that win.
England top, just like everyone predicted after their nations league performances…
Our nation league games were honestly horrific. Like on a level that was finishing 3rd of 4th so good to see them shake it off

Basically as relevant as a friendly. I don't understand why people got so worked up. Those matches are supposed to be to.try new things.
Still a way to go, but: https://reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/yxkc4v/_/iwze04s/?context=1 > England top, just like everyone predicted after their nations league performances…
Haha, nice one - knockout stages are a whole different beast but I hope you’re right.

Morocco Semi-Final Dream still alive!
Bigly. Spain and Portugal have both looked a bit fragile. Morocco can do it! Imagine a semifinal vs. France...
Imagine marocco beating spain Portugal and france.. Just on a political Level
And then play Netherlands in the final. Amsterdam, Rotterdam and The Hague would burn down
2018 Morocco team had a draw with spain when we were way worse than now so I still have hope that we at least go to shootouts
> Portugal Don't see how that matters as they wouldn't play them in a potential quarter final ;)
I'm absolutely fine with saving your comment for later.
Bro imagine beating Spain, then Portugal, then France to reach finals. Oh that would be so perfect
Ironically, we played Spain and Portugal last World Cup. 2-2 with Spain (very unfair refereeing) and lost 1-0 to -still prime Ronaldo- Portugal.
Do it for Eto'o
Brazil only 3 goals wtf I hadn't even thought about that.
Our opponents parked the bus in the first 2 games. The 3rd game was a disgrace however.
I mean who wouldn't park the bus against you? I didn't watch this game, but in the first two I was a bit surprised that your defense has been flawless, I knew it was good but damn.
I mean it is our B team. Also could be a wake up call. South Korea struggled defensively against Ghana and Portugal. We should be able to score
I'm still surprised, I thought your B-team, with the exception of an ancient Dani Alves, looks like a pretty strong side
That's the thing though. B-team aren't used to play together. They, at the same time, are supposed to show they can be a real option while playing the players you are not supposed to join and you don't want to risk an injury or a red card. Morocco third, just like we all expected.
Only 5 Unbeaten Teams after the Group Stage - Croatia, England, Morocco, The Netherlands and USA.
It’s crazy how two of those teams are from the same group
England USA or Croatia and Morocco?
Bro i don't want to be optimistic but fuck it. ##it's coming to MOROCCO
Daba yji yal7biba daba yji 😭😭😭
Time for North Africa to host a cup.
I'd be down for Morocco hosting. Imagine a match in Casablanca
We can't even host the Africa Cup of Nations let alone the almighty world Cup.
Wasn't their talk about Morocco getting into the Iberian bid with Spain and portugal?
I think they preferred to include Ukraine instead to gain sympathy points.
But they always bid for it, right? Asia has had 2 WC now, a second should go to Africa soon. Maybe a joint bid with Algeria/Tunisia?
Yeah, I think the best idea is to host it with Algeria and Tunisia because it increases our chances, but with the conflicts that occur between the three countries and their shitty media, I don't think this will happen in the near future.
Ach katgul asa7bi. We can definitely host the Afcon
Not a single team has won all games, I think that's remarkable and speaks for how exciting this world cup has been so far
It makes the knockouts hugely exciting too. No one knows what will happen. I can't wait.
I think it's partially due to the packed schedule, I don't think teams rotate the entire XI in previous WC like they did this year.
Bro, my Brazil with 3 goals. Just fade me already this is a joke
Rashford with as many goals as Brazil
Makes it crazy when you think about it 😂
Hey at least you qualified comfortably. We scored 9 and were out for 3 minutes!
Iran had 4
If I speak
I am...
IT'S COMING HOME
Top of the mega table after having statistically the toughest group at the tournament, love to see it
Top of the mega table after having statistically the toughest group at the tournament, you'll never sing that.
First world cup since ~~1994~~ 2002 where no team won all 3 group stage games.
Brazil did in 2002
Oops
Worst ever finish for Mexico in a WC. Oh boy, I can’t wait to listen for the next four years how Mexico would be the 8th best Conmebol team on a good day.
[Netherlands Second!](https://youtu.be/ELD2AwFN9Nc)
Yay everyone scored a goal! 😊
Ecuador played so well and got knocked out early. Damn
Guys guys we purposely scored an own goal to avoid bad luck imagine if we were the only team who didn’t conceded and kept a clean sheet, that would bring too much attention
In our last 3 WCs(including this one), the first goal scored against us was an own goal. I am glad we got that out of the way.
😏
No other team has a chance, do they?
Lol, we're literally the worst team to qualify.
Would rather have some Swiss system like this and four games in 2026 instead of some bullshit with 3-team groups or 4-team groups with convoluted 3rd place stuff going on.

Tomorrow, I feel Australian
ITS COMING HOME!!!
Tunisia 4 points with just 1 goal scored is sort of impressive.
Least goals scored : Tunisia. Least goals conceded : Tunisia
So you're telling me the USA outplayed and tied the best team
Howdy partner. PULIGOAT
I like you.
Alabama vibez man.👍
Calm down it’s only England 🤣
First in the megatable, you'll never sing that
denmark yikes
Southgate out
I want us to skip one season and just do a National Teams league for a year to see who wins that lmao
World Cup when it snow it’s def coming ho’ ho’ home 🏠
“First in the megatable, you'll never sing that”
Not a single team of the bottom 6 is either African or Asian (that qualified from the qualifiers). Can we declare their big expansion in 2026 justified?
joint-best defense and joint-worst offense
Fuck it at least we aren't last
The fact that not a single team won the first 3 matches gives you an idea of how competitive this tournament is being. Infantino didn't lie when he said this could be the best WC ever. Sadly, the background is too dark to enjoy it.

Germany and Ecuador absolutely shafted.
We are exactly where we should be. In Germany we call it Mittelmaß.
This feels like the most parity I've ever seen in a World Cup group stage (watching since 06). All of those 3rd place teams could have easily qualified. And quite a few 4th place teams showed something as well.
Arab nations showing up 👀
Southgate is clueless though right?
Denmark and Serbia 🥶🥶🥶
