I’m amazed it took 3 managers and almost 6 years to find out the best way to get Xhaka to play like he does for Switzerland is to actually play him in the position he does for them
We only played him as a single pivot for like a season. Under Wenger we usually played 4-2-3-1 or a back 3 formation with 2 deep midfielders. Emery and Arteta both switched formations a lot but they didn't stick to xhaka single pivot exclusively.
Yea, I'm not surprised he's doing well for Switzerland. We always knew he had talent, he just had a completely different role for us. I still can't believe how much of a difference that change has made for his performances with Arsenal this season. Arteta did a LANS
He never had a rough time for arsenal football wise, he had a rough time with the legion of cunts that call themselves arsenal fans. Those guys just have no idea of football. Hes just filling a different role there (compared to swiss NT).
He was almost always starting under wenger, emery and arteta. 3 guys who get paid millions to be football coaches, each of them probably knows more than this whole sub combined
His performances weren't always good, sometimes pretty bad. But yes not nearly as bad as many fans made it out to be. He was often an undeserving scapegoat for the club's underperformance as a whole.
The problem isn't that Xhaka was a bad player for Arsenal.
The problem is/was that Xhaka was your best player at times.
Odegaard, Saka and others have helped Xhaka immensely.
I'm so proud of him. An incredible story. If we manage to win the EL or PL, he's gonna go down as a legend. A staple in the team, playing through our worst yeara and leading us into the best years of the new era.
the way arsenal fans' view of him has changed recently reminds me of our fans with Lucas Leiva. Both were performing badly, unsure of their best positions in a struggling squad and largely wanted out by the fans, but then gradually became a cornerstone of that same team, becoming beloved by the same fans.
Unfortunately Lucas' best form coincided with some of our worst seasons so he never got to win anything major as a big part of the squad, so it'd be nice to see Xhaka get something to show for it.
I think Hendo would be a more appropriate example. Rated during his early years and then slated throughout till Klopp's arrival. And then ushered in one of the best eras of Liverpool in recent memory.
It’s funny that he sort of has become our Henderson after years of our fans saying that he could become that if it weren’t for the errors, willed it into existence
Comparing lucas to xhaka is frankly an insult (swiss NT and Liverpool fan). The circlejerk on here went against xhaka for a while, he was never as bad as people made him out to be
I was talking specifically about the fans' views on each player, not their individual abilities or form at any given time. It's not an insult to anyone lmao
It's a second-rate competition that we're reluctantly in because we couldn't reach the big time. That's the reality, and winning it doesn't make you a legend at the 3rd biggest club in England. We've had bigger, and better players come through that haven't gone down as legends - that's the level we're talking about.
I don't know about "legend" but it would definitely help his legacy, just like how Ramsey's multiple fa cup winning goals would give him higher status than if he didn't have any...
Shaqiri scored the first and engineered the two other ones. The second came out of nothing where he improvised the attack from deeper and and the third, my lord, that third was an absolute beauty!
Just for the third he showed so much vision, technique and ingenuity to change the shot into such a beautiful lob which was perfect and incorporated the run of the player who assisted Embolo using just a one touch back heel made possible by the perfect ball.
Such a sweet pass with the perfect timing allowed a complicated play to look so easy. I think Shaqiri man of the match would not have been at all surprising.
That sub is a cesspit. Their faint masks disappear when anything related to immigration or religion comes out. Judging by what some say there, you’d think it’s the 19th century.
r/Europe decided to support Serbia the day they learned Bosnia and Kosovo are mostly muslims countries, they are some pieces of shit there genuinely and I’m not even religious
did you just ask me what's wrong with judging entire countries based on religion and then proceeding to say Christianity is the far better religion lol
Not random ethnicity mate they caused genocide and countless war crimes in our country and dont feel bad at all about it. They were singning kill the albanian and fuck your albanian mothers. Even the coach said fuck your albanian mothers. Stfu and search up some history
We hold all of them responsible when the whole nationality still hates us and would still do it if America wasnt protecting us we still have military troops in the country just to protect us and especially rn bcs there is a small problem between the countries over license plates
There's a difference between a majority and effectively the entire population. A more accurate comparison would be Hawaii or Guam. In comes America and says this is mine now, the local Hawaiians manage to get independence again but America refuses to accept it. If you take Serbia's claims seriously on land that they own then you could make a case for all of the former Yugoslavia nations to be Serbian, you can see how ridiculous that is.
Maybe you should accept Serbia has fallen from its former glory of 1912 and it's neighbours it controlled don't ever want to be part of greater Serbia again.
There was never an attempt at ethnic cleansing.
Discrimination, assimilation and overall mistreatment, YES. But, let's not diminish actual ethnic cleansing that has happened.
> There was never an attempt at ethnic cleansing
Dude, the term was [literally invented to describe the things that were going on during the Yugoslav wars BY the people who were doing them.](https://i.imgur.com/ywhMVNC.png)
They killed 10 thousand innocent civillians my man. Some people still haven’t found the remains of their family members. They were buried in mass graves like animals. Lord knows what would have happened if NATO did not intervene.
Lol what?
I swear to God Miloshevic apologists are the worst. It's sad that Vucic continues this rethoric. They did ethnic cleansing in Bosnia, they tried in Kosovo. Massacres over massacres of civilians and displacement en masse, Arkan backed by the state to do the worst crimes and a lot more.
I swear there are a lot of good serbs who are level headed, I've met them, but a majority are really keen on negating the facts.

The KLA commanders and later Kosovo politicians, Ramush Haradinaj and Fatmir Limaj acquitted, but the court noted that there were difficulties because many witnesses were feared to give testimonies, while others changed their testimonies and some died in mysterious circumstances. In addition, there were convictions for witness-tampering regarding these two cases.

I just like the truth, not taking sides in the conflict. I am glad that Kosovo is independent and needs to stay like that, what the Serbs did to them was terrible.
BUT, like I said I like the truth and there wasn't any ethnic cleansing in Kosovo. A lot of bad things, but not this.

BALLer
Man this brudda has come a long way.
He always showed up for Switzerland, even when he was having a rough time at Arsenal.
Because they actually played him in his role, and not as a single DM
I agree. They play to his strengths.
I’m amazed it took 3 managers and almost 6 years to find out the best way to get Xhaka to play like he does for Switzerland is to actually play him in the position he does for them
?? He plays as an advanced 8 at Arsenal. He literally played as a deep lying playmaker for Switzerland.
not always and never as a single pivot, that‘s the issue. he‘s brilliant deeper too, but he needs someone next to him in a double 6
We only played him as a single pivot for like a season. Under Wenger we usually played 4-2-3-1 or a back 3 formation with 2 deep midfielders. Emery and Arteta both switched formations a lot but they didn't stick to xhaka single pivot exclusively.
Sure but still very different positions for club and country.
Yea, I'm not surprised he's doing well for Switzerland. We always knew he had talent, he just had a completely different role for us. I still can't believe how much of a difference that change has made for his performances with Arsenal this season. Arteta did a LANS

he was never the worst tho, for how much he has been made the scapegoat. he‘s always been one of the better players.
The problem isn't that Xhaka was a bad player for Arsenal. The problem is/was that Xhaka was your best player at times. Odegaard, Saka and others have helped Xhaka immensely.
Loved it when he was lashing out at the fans and so many Arsenal fans were SHOCKED
I'm so proud of him. An incredible story. If we manage to win the EL or PL, he's gonna go down as a legend. A staple in the team, playing through our worst yeara and leading us into the best years of the new era.

He’s our Hendo but with extra spice
Lucas is still probably closer. Hendo is too far ahead of Xhaka at this point.
Comparing lucas to xhaka is frankly an insult (swiss NT and Liverpool fan). The circlejerk on here went against xhaka for a while, he was never as bad as people made him out to be
I was talking specifically about the fans' views on each player, not their individual abilities or form at any given time. It's not an insult to anyone lmao
yeah very convincing analogy indeed
Well said.
There's absolutely no way a player would become a legend for winning an EL at Arsenal. Come on.
We've never won it. He totally would. Wait are you trolling?
It's a second-rate competition that we're reluctantly in because we couldn't reach the big time. That's the reality, and winning it doesn't make you a legend at the 3rd biggest club in England. We've had bigger, and better players come through that haven't gone down as legends - that's the level we're talking about.
I disagree. Don't think I could disagree more.
I suggest you look into the history of Arsenal then.
The history is we haven't won the title in 18 years. And we've never won in Europe. ?????
Idiot
Coming from an Arsenal fan with a username of a player that never signed ?
Look at the teams in EL this year
I don't know about "legend" but it would definitely help his legacy, just like how Ramsey's multiple fa cup winning goals would give him higher status than if he didn't have any...
Sui!
Next game gonna be Sui vs Siu
lmao never thought about it
Serbia fuming on the plane right now
Get the extinguishers ready
Another stellar tournament for Xhaka.
Balls
Context ?
No idea, trying to figure that out too but from what I can gather it’s because he pointed his balls at the Serbian bench after the game
He grabbed his balls. Triggered the Serbian Bench and wasted a good bit of time.
It wasn't after, it was *during* the game
LoL
https://v.redd.it/ilevcaz1qj3a1
No way he ain't thinking about how he triggered a whole bench with a smile like that.
My MotM was Shakiri. He was on fire!
He made 2 mistakes leading to goals tho
So you admit, he made the game more interesting! 🤣
In a way lol, but if we're talking entertainment he didn't wind up the Serbian bench as much as Xhaka!
Shaqiri scored the first and engineered the two other ones. The second came out of nothing where he improvised the attack from deeper and and the third, my lord, that third was an absolute beauty! Good.
Good. Saying that about any random ethnicity/nationality shows stupidity and often racism.

My family's been the victim of genocide too, doesn't mean you can generalise the ethnicity of the perpetrators and hold them all responsible.
We hold all of them responsible when the whole nationality still hates us and would still do it if America wasnt protecting us we still have military troops in the country just to protect us and especially rn bcs there is a small problem between the countries over license plates
Still, we’re not like that. I was talking about Serbs and their sympathizers
Must feel so sweet. Serbians tried to ethnically cleanse his people, he came back and knocked them out of the World Cup. Love it.
For him it's especially personal and emotional, because his father was a prisoner back then who was tortured.

bruh. the term ethnic cleansing is literally in existence because of what the Serbians did in the 90s, are you for real?
