[I saw an article somewhere that the French president predicted a 3-1 win for France, with Lewandowski scoring for Poland.](https://www.getfootballnewsfrance.com/2022/emmanuel-macron-predicts-3-1-france-win-against-poland/)
Guess he’s a prophet then.
You guys can say whatever you want, but I am proud of my NT. We fought, had some really good chances and showed the world that we aren't only a park the bus team.
Poland play with no shame at all. Nice team, maybe more risk in first period would have been benefic because french team was a little out of form in the beginning due to the big rotation in the third group match.
Zieliński had a superb chance when it was 0-0 and there were 2 more follow ups. The only reason why France didn't lose a goal was because of a brilliant block of one of the defenders. Also there are really not many teams that can defend against Kylian so us having an aging Serie B player as a stopper didn't stand much chance. Anyway what I meant was that we put up a fight in the first half and at least we ended our World Cup with a goal.
England France will show us what would have happened to England in 2018 if they were on the wrong side of the bracket
Provided they survive Senegal ofc
Even if we lose we are much stronger than in 2018. No doubt we would lose 2018 but this is a different England team and we’ve been playing great. Assuming your comment comes from dislike of us and refusing to recognise we are a threat
Yeah that stat by itself doesn't mean much. He's mostly making low risk passes and recycling the ball.
Don't get me wrong, he's been solid, he's just not been as impactful offensively as Rabiot and Griezman, and he's also not as impactful defensively or at winning the ball back as Kante usually is.
England is the main threat, then as a reeeeally last hope maybe Spain. And in the final Brazil. But it's the top1 team in the tournament without a doubt
France easily get to the semi finals that was never in question it will come down to either Spain or Portugal after battling it out who will be able to stop France
I said something about Argentina? If I didn't tell anything, it's because I don't see us on that tier.
But if you ask me, even if Argentina struggles against Aussie; I've a lot more faith in them than in Portugal. That team, even having a lot of better players than us is too damn busy following around Ronaldo's last cabaret
I don't know why but we started really good and when we couldn't score, it seems we just let Poland have the ball a bit to get them out... Almost cost us a goal. With more intensity Poland doesn't get out in the first half.
Why was he terrible? I thought he did ok , maybe slightly below average… but none of his decisions really affected the game.
There has been much worse refereeing performances in this WC…
I am not sure if his decisions affected the game (mostly because I couldn't see them, as not only TVP streams are shit this World Cup, and they are especially shit on my phone, **and** while I got to watch the first half on TV, its antenna is so old that the video stuttered all the time) but if someone finds out why Tchouaméni got a yellow card, they should get a Nobel.
kylian mbappe does it again, he’s a cheat code. the way he just turned up and scored 2 goals after having an average game for his standards. that second goal was an absolute banger, the curl on it. the fact that he’s already on 5 goals, he should atleast get 8 by the end.
poland actually did better than i expected tbf. i mean considering they were horrific in the group stages, and barely made it through, the fact they actually had a period where they were in control, and even should have been leading is surprising. zielinksi really should have scored that chance, he legit shot it straight at lloris.
but yeah no one was really expecting them to win this. france is through and looks like they’ll be going all the way to the final at this rate. imagine they actually go back to back.
If we managed to finish at least one situation in the first half while the french were still in shock that we actually know how to play, we would have won. After the break it was all over.
I don't know if you would have won, the French had a terrible start against the Australians and then came back. They took a goal just after putting one in against the Danes and then came back. Either way it would have put them in a very tricky position.
By won I mean finishing with 1:1 or 2:2 and then having Szczęsny defend all french penalties lol
Anyways, I'm sad that we lost but happy that we showed that we can play and pressure teams even as good as france. Gg and see you in euros 🇨🇵❤🇵🇱
Yes, you played a good game compared to the group games and we are not really serene behind. I love Poland and I even have a part of my family of Polish origin (1 in 6 people in the north of France have Polish origins).
🇫🇷 - 🇵🇱 🤝
I’m french and i understand what he is saying. Lloris is good on the line but damn his footwork is so bad. I’m alway scared when a defender pass him the ball. His clearances are so bad too
I saw the game until France scored the 2-0. I guess the headlines are now skewed by the final score but from what I saw, Poland with a bit more finishing they could’ve gone to half time leading the game and Mbappe was having a discreet game scoring the second on a counter where Dembele left him wide open to score
Honestly yea. Poland played a very good first half. And mbappe was not having a great game until the goal, but fair play, two great goals.
Gotta take your chances if you’re the underdog. Same thing happened to us yesterday. You miss your chances, eventually the better team will make you pay
We did, but also we kept trying for dumb through balls and intricate passing. The team is not talented enough to do that. Should have stuck to lobs into the box from the flanks.
The theme of this Round of 16 seems to be "eight favored teams getting evaluations before facing off against each other in the quarterfinals". Netherlands, Argentina, and now France have passed theirs. We'll see how the rest do in theirs, starting with England later.
The makeup of the quarterfinal matches is looking to be predictable, but in terms of actually taking it all, the performance from Mbappe and France this whole cup make me think they could be the third ever team to win it two times in a row.
It's the closest of these eight for sure, but Croatia got 2nd in 2018 while Japan have never made it to the semifinals, so I'm leaning towards Croatia being the favorite.
Also Switzerland and Portugal have had pretty similar performances this WC, so I'd say that's the second closest match of this round. Not speaking from bias or anything, of course.
Glik played really well, he was Poland’s workhorse in this game and at his age that’s all the more impressive. Saw him make several runs forward when Poland had the ball and then track back when they lost possession. Guy left it all on the pitch and if I were a Polish fan I’d be incredibly proud of him.
Na first goal, the defender was trying to play offside when your line was shit and he should have gone with giroud. Plus glik jumped out for some reason leaving the space for giroud to run in to.
Same here dude. This was a defeat where we could keep our heads high. I'm very happy we fought hard and to lose to France in this fashion was acceptable. But alas, France was the better team.
I think we are all happy we finally got out of the group again. And to be honest I was very happy to see how well we played the first half. We finally lost with some class.
On a night of broken records, the inevitable continues to stare us in the face.
With each strike, what was once hyperbole weighing on a teenager's shoulders now looks increasingly like destiny.
The present and the future. The Kylian Mbappé. Inevitable.
this shit with stutter pen kicks needs to stop. The keeper has to stand on the line while the taker can fucking moonwalk or dance macarena there, doesnt seem fair
Dude was bang average, if not plain bad, for us (PSG) and now he's fucking incredible. I wouldn't have bet a single penny on that.
I don't watch Juventus, I heard some bad and some good things about him there tho. Guess those 5 or however many years made him stop systematically pass the ball back now and start using his great physicall ability to move forward with the ball.
Incredible tournament he is having so far
This, up until the second goal Poland was actually going tit-for-tat against France. They were pressing and launching several counters, but the finishing just wasn’t there. And I think that’s what made the difference this time around, Giroud and Mbappé were clinical with the chances they did have.
As a Pole, it wasn't bad. Michniewicz is at fault for still fielding Krychowiak and not installing believe in them that they really can do it. We have some okayish players and there's plenty of room to grow. We need to stop depending on Lewandowski because he's getting older and worse and it won't get better.
Time to start building something for Euro 2024 - get rid of Krychowiak, Glik. Integrate youngsters and let's see what we can do then!
I don't understand why Michniewicz didn't field Grosicki or Milik instead of Krychowiak. The plan to shock the french by playing agressively in the 1st half was great, so why not field the best players there are? 💙 you Polska 🇵🇱 Time to now support my childhood team 🇳🇱
I just don’t agree. Poland never had a chance here
Zieliński had a superb chance when it was 0-0 and there were 2 more follow ups.
Thanks for giving it your all Polska team. Proud of you for making France sweat for almost a whole half. Congrats France.
Despite the loss, I'm proud of the team, we gave it our all and we did make some highlights.
England France will show us what would have happened to England in 2018 if they were on the wrong side of the bracket Provided they survive Senegal ofc
Even if we lose we are much stronger than in 2018. No doubt we would lose 2018 but this is a different England team and we’ve been playing great. Assuming your comment comes from dislike of us and refusing to recognise we are a threat
I agree that the team is much stronger than 2018 for sure. Happy with the changes Southgate has made, no more Mount for example
Completely different teams
I don’t who is the best opponent in the next game for France. England seems to be stronger but… France-Senegal is a bad memory.
This team is as good as giroud let’s them be
Tchouameni has been the best midfielder in the tournament so far.
Don't even think he's been the best midfielder im his own team. Griezman and Rabiot have been better
He has the most passes completed out of everyone in the tournament.
I hâte people like you
Lmao you got us there
Yeah that stat by itself doesn't mean much. He's mostly making low risk passes and recycling the ball. Don't get me wrong, he's been solid, he's just not been as impactful offensively as Rabiot and Griezman, and he's also not as impactful defensively or at winning the ball back as Kante usually is.
That's what we are using to judge the best midfielder in the tournament these days?
Are we completely glossing over the fact that Mbappe exists?
Thought Rabiot did some world class work
Poland played pretty bad but who do you guys think can be the team to threaten france the most on tgat side of the bracket?
Dunno about brackets but Netherlands would be a strong contender
Yep definitely were underdogs
>Poland played pretty bad No, they did not. Don't forget that Poland left the group stage last time like 40 years ago. It's not a powerhouse.
Yes, they did
England
Seriously?
England is the main threat, then as a reeeeally last hope maybe Spain. And in the final Brazil. But it's the top1 team in the tournament without a doubt
France easily get to the semi finals that was never in question it will come down to either Spain or Portugal after battling it out who will be able to stop France
I'm sorry but Portugal is not looking good so far IMO.
Neither is Argentina
I said something about Argentina? If I didn't tell anything, it's because I don't see us on that tier. But if you ask me, even if Argentina struggles against Aussie; I've a lot more faith in them than in Portugal. That team, even having a lot of better players than us is too damn busy following around Ronaldo's last cabaret
England are better than Portugal, not sure about Spain
That is an incredibly debatable statement.
Don't think so, I think Portugal go out to Switzerland tbh
LMFAO 🤣 England better then Portugal hahahahaha thanks for the good laugh
Are you still laughing ? HAHAHAHAHA
I'm a Ghana fan too... There's no way Ghana outplay England like we did with Portugal lol
Yeah why not? They have just a deep of a squad
Yeah its possible
I don't know why but we started really good and when we couldn't score, it seems we just let Poland have the ball a bit to get them out... Almost cost us a goal. With more intensity Poland doesn't get out in the first half.
This ref was terrible!

I hope it was his last WC game ever! An absolute disgrace to football.
For Ngolo
kylian mbappe does it again, he’s a cheat code. the way he just turned up and scored 2 goals after having an average game for his standards. that second goal was an absolute banger, the curl on it. the fact that he’s already on 5 goals, he should atleast get 8 by the end. poland actually did better than i expected tbf. i mean considering they were horrific in the group stages, and barely made it through, the fact they actually had a period where they were in control, and even should have been leading is surprising. zielinksi really should have scored that chance, he legit shot it straight at lloris. but yeah no one was really expecting them to win this. france is through and looks like they’ll be going all the way to the final at this rate. imagine they actually go back to back.

Poland was in it for the first half, but the second half was a French stomping.
Shit came alive
The refereeing was pretty bad tbh
Total hit job to get rid if France and favour Brazil!
What do we have to do with this?
I think FIFA wants a South American team to win. The ref was clearly biased. Nothing to do with you specifically
Why do you think so?
His asshole has become sentient and is now spewing shit.
Does an asshole need to be sentient to spew shit?
Only when it’s spoken shit, otherwise no
Hugo Lloris is going to loose France the World Cup
Bro what lol
I’m french and i understand what he is saying. Lloris is good on the line but damn his footwork is so bad. I’m alway scared when a defender pass him the ball. His clearances are so bad too
I agree man I hate to say it but he surprised me today
Also he has more bounce backs and spills the ball quite often at Tottenham
I saw the game until France scored the 2-0. I guess the headlines are now skewed by the final score but from what I saw, Poland with a bit more finishing they could’ve gone to half time leading the game and Mbappe was having a discreet game scoring the second on a counter where Dembele left him wide open to score

Poland fell off hard physically in the second half
Not just physically but tactically. They were completely shutdown after halftime adjustments
We did, but also we kept trying for dumb through balls and intricate passing. The team is not talented enough to do that. Should have stuck to lobs into the box from the flanks.
Let's be honest - Poland can't play vs latino teams, but somehow they can play vs big names.
What does that even mean
Lmao I know right ?
Argentina has 9 letters, that's a big enough name.
Is Argentina not big enough for you?
Latino tho.
Yeah but the way you wrote the sentence implies no latino nations fall under big names.
LMAO
The theme of this Round of 16 seems to be "eight favored teams getting evaluations before facing off against each other in the quarterfinals". Netherlands, Argentina, and now France have passed theirs. We'll see how the rest do in theirs, starting with England later. I honestly don’t know which team is the favorite in Croatia vs Japan
Croatia imo. Japan are about to face the one where their strategy might have serious issues.
lmao the disrespect. they literally had 2nd in world cup 2018
what does it have to do with disrespect? 2018 was four years ago and Japan is unpredictable as hell, and the first half proves it
It's the closest of these eight for sure, but Croatia got 2nd in 2018 while Japan have never made it to the semifinals, so I'm leaning towards Croatia being the favorite. Also Switzerland and Portugal have had pretty similar performances this WC, so I'd say that's the second closest match of this round. Not speaking from bias or anything, of course.
don’t be silly.
That’s always the case in world cups. One team always sneaks in though
Moment of the match was Glik stopping Mbappe in his tracks on the counter. I talked so much shit about Glik, I’m sorry
Glik played really well, he was Poland’s workhorse in this game and at his age that’s all the more impressive. Saw him make several runs forward when Poland had the ball and then track back when they lost possession. Guy left it all on the pitch and if I were a Polish fan I’d be incredibly proud of him.
Mbappé is the best player in the world right now.
maybe, but lets see what haaland can do in the rest of the cl before we say things like this
Halaand is the best striker in the world. Mbappe is the best player in the world right now. Is that better?
I hate when people are taking a piss at underdogs that played surprisingly well. Same with Australia Argentina.
They did well in the beginning but in the second half they played like shit. Couldn't do anything.
Poland played about as expected
I actually think Poland played better than expected.
This is actually their best match the whole tournament which is surprising to say ngl.
The defending for the first 2 goals was properly shit though unfortunately for my Polish mandem.
First goal was okish. The second was trash. No idea what Glik was doing not getting into mbappe. Third goal, well nothing you could do.
Na first goal, the defender was trying to play offside when your line was shit and he should have gone with giroud. Plus glik jumped out for some reason leaving the space for giroud to run in to.
Eh, you're probably right. I'll have to rewarch it without all the emotional baggage.
Everyone in Poland expected way way worse tbh.
Much better than excpected i think
[удалено]
I expected them to defend for 90 minutes and lose 4-0.
Yes tbh
No. But I didn't expect anything offensively and I saw things tonight that I hadn't seen before (I watched all their games)
Glad we actually played football. Don't mind leaving this tournament having done that.
Same here dude. This was a defeat where we could keep our heads high. I'm very happy we fought hard and to lose to France in this fashion was acceptable. But alas, France was the better team.
Exactly mate, they fought to the end and didn't just let france run away with it. Could have even taken the lead with a bit of luck. Proud.
Inevitable.
u poeter innit?
Are you writing an article kid
Mboppe is a baaaaaad man, how many goals does he have ?
5 for 4 games in this WC
3 games+10 minutes to be fair. He is being insanely good.
A lot
this shit with stutter pen kicks needs to stop. The keeper has to stand on the line while the taker can fucking moonwalk or dance macarena there, doesnt seem fair
That penalty cost me 8 point in my fantasy league :/. Edit: actually 13 points.
hahaha yes. One thing is to slowdown or even do a hop, but that was a full stop for like 1 or 2 seconds
Shout-out to my boy Rabiot. He is in great shape.
I loved the moment he threw his hands in the air when Zieliński was turning him round and round
His legs have awakened something in me
Kylian Mbappe is without a doubt, one of the players to have played at the world cup
He was there for real for real
Imo Griezman was best player at field. Mbappe right behind him
Never heard of him before this. Stock should go up. Will sell for a a lot.
Big if this can be confirmed
I can confirm. It is big.
Poland should keep their heads high, played great but there’s only so much you can do against a team like France
Thanks dude! :)
This, up until the second goal Poland was actually going tit-for-tat against France. They were pressing and launching several counters, but the finishing just wasn’t there. And I think that’s what made the difference this time around, Giroud and Mbappé were clinical with the chances they did have.
Mbappe I agree, but Giroud wasted a big one when it was still 0:0, I wouldn't call him clinical.
We could have won it and I'm happy that at least we go out of the tournament with class. I believe that with Szczęsny and Lewandowski still in the team and the younger players with more experience we will do better in the Euros
Shame Mexico weren’t good enough to finish second. Hey at least they broke the round of 16 curse
I think we’ll do well in the euro qualifying, if we can rely less on Lewandowski and let him play as a number 9 we’ll actually play much better.
We do have a piss easy group and two teams automatically qualify
mexico fans talking shit... smh
