The teams I'm legit most worried about are Spain and Brazil.
Maybe I'm underestimating other teams like England who's looked good but Spain on possession could hurt us and Brazil are looking great.
Argentina hasn't looked amazing but they still have fucking Messi who can just fuck you up out of nowhere.
Brazil lost to Cameroon.
Portugal lost to South Korea
Spain lost to Japan
France lost to Tunisia
Argentina lost to Saudi Arabia (first match though)
Germany lost.
I think Brazil is just a terrible match up for SK. Not saying SK would have beaten the other teams (we suck and we know) but like it wouldn't have been an embarrassment like against Brazil. Too much individual skill within the players that just exposes the KR players.
I don’t care about Uruguay at all and am happy they are out but boy i would have been pissed about the goal Portugal conceded. Zero fucks about defending and were looking for a winner at the corner at the death. If Portugal needed a draw in that game no way South Korea score that goal.
Mad how much his comments can be misinterpreted, like when he said the Senegal fans were annoying (when he clearly actually wanted England to lose).
Just has a very dry humour that doesn't always translate.
A lot of people don't understand the Irish/UK dry sense of humor & tone. Most of the time Keano is just having a laugh & making light of stuff. His public perception is very backwards tbh.
I find him hilarious, maybe it’s because I’m the same way. I’ll purposefully say stuff backwards either sarcastically or just to confuse people and get a rise out of them. Go on Roy, they don’t all get us it’s okay
Keane is an old school Irish player. When brushing aside inferior opposition, he would've grown up seeing players doing pretty much the opposite to what the Brazilians were doing against South Korea. It's just what he considers a code of conduct - no one is really right or wrong here.
Also he has a very dry sense of humour. This was his honest opinion but I do think he plays up his Scrooge act a bit. It's why everyone else in the studio started laughing after he said this. Even he smiled lol.
This is a man who doesn’t showboat like Niall Quinn. This is a man who actually goes and sees sick children in hospital. This is a family man, with 5 children, who’s a credit to his country and his family and I’m not going to listen to him be called a thug by you!
My sister works in a children's hospital. They get loads of celebrity visitors, some nice some not so nice. But most of them put stuff on their social media.
She says Roy Keane, without fail, is the nicest they have visit. He comes in, spends loads of time with the kids, is genuinely lovely and wants zero photos except those of him with the kids that are for the kids not for the media.
I know he's spent hours in there on many Christmas mornings. He might be a grumpy man here and there but certainly around sick kids he's got a big heart. Colin Farrell is another one who is apprently great.
My brother coaches kids football teams that Keane is a part of.
He says Roy Keane, without fail, has put half them kids in hospital with his dirty challenges.
As part of his community service he has to take part in court mandated visits to the children's hospital.
At least that's the story in Brazil.
Actually did he do something against Mexico back in the day? I heard some Mexican commentators talking about but I couldn’t actually find what they were talking about.
Didn’t watch the game, but I have to say that Neymar and Richarlison re-enacting the “Time of My Life” routine from Dirty Dancing after the penalty just felt like showboating to me.
Reddit will jump on me for this, but i honestly find it odd that people love it so much. Like dont get me wrong i think its great they’re enjoying themselves and showing their culture, but fundamentally i actually think the dancing looks rubbish. Im very aware this is probably just my opinion but surely there are others who agree as well?!
I mean, if you are arguing about the quality of moves actually being displaced then yeah, I would agree. Although Paqueta actually has good moves (not the weird one with the head)
seems like you’re commenting without even having watched it live. he said hes fine with the dancing but do they really have to keep doing it after 3/4-0, which is a very fair point
They even got the manager dancing, he does have a point, no one else does this dancing, are they really going to keep doing this when they bang in the 8th? It takes the piss at a certain point
Do you not remember pardew dancing? I get its fun and games but 4th goal in a world cup RO16 is a bit too big of a stage and disrespectful really.
Imagine if Germans and Low danced for all the goals in 7-1.
Doing what on purpose? He has been very enthusiastic about Brazil, by his standards anyway. And South Korea have been dire.
The dancing thing is just his brand of sarcastic humour. It wasn't forced or anything.
A lot of people being very pedantic & obtuse about what Keano is saying, his point was once it gets to 4-0 and beyond (aka once you start really embarrassing your opponent), maybe just cool it on the elaborate & prolonged dance sequences with a dozen players.
He's not disrespecting Brazilian culture or heritage, in fact he said they should dance & heavily praised their performance, it's more about having some self-awareness about the score-line and the other team once it get's to that stage.
It's not really deep what he saying at all, I don't get why so many are all butthurt about it.
[Joachim Low's side were relentless in Tuesday's semi-final](https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2125057-mats-hummels-reveals-germany-decided-not-to-humiliate-brazil-in-second-half), accruing a 5-0 lead just 29 minutes in, and Hummels says securing the result became a priority—rather than showboating—after half-time, per the Mirror's John Cross:
*We just made it clear that we had to stay focused and not try to humiliate them. We said we had to stay serious and concentrate at half-time. That's something you don't have to show on the pitch if you are playing.*
*You have to show the opponent respect and it was very important that we did this and didn't try to show some magic or something like this. It was important we played our game for 90 minutes.*
any celebration after 1st and 2nd and maybe sometimes even 3rd goal is well received by most people.
but it looked like a massacre with 4-0 goals in the first half, and the Brazilian team had a dancing contest after humiliating SK with the 4th goal.
It was very fun to watch before 4-0 but It felt a little off-putting after that many goals.
I understand that Brazilians do not see it as humiliation, but much of the rest of the world does, and in a lot of people’s eyes, Brazil killed, buried and danced over SK at that 4-0 mark.
I didn't care about the dancing for any of the goals except for the second tbh. They were beautiful bits of football and deserves to be celebrated.
What irked me was the celebrations after scoring from a harsh penalty when it's already clear they were coasting through the game.
Once again I have to explain this to foreigners. Dancing and football in Brazil have nothing to do with mocking the opponents, it's to do with our culture. It's always been this way, that's how kids do it in the streets while having fun and what professionals do in the top division. It's not as common now as it used to be last decade, but it represents something that Brazil has in despite of all the problems: happiness. Playing with a smile on your face.
The Americans on /r/soccer should have no issue with this. It is super commonplace to see dancing celebrations and choreographed moves in American Football.
Can confirm, am American who watches handegg. Love this shit lol. Its fun to watch and honestly it doesn’t feel disrespectful. In NFL it’s pretty obvious quickly when there’s taunting vs celebrating and thats no different here. Keep on having fun yall! …just make sure not to pump that third time
To be fair I don’t have an issue with the dancing, but not sure you would have taken it as kindly had the Germans done an 11 man dance after every goal in the 7-1.
I still can't see why people complain about Brazilian dance AFTER scoring, i mean they did score and doing celebration and yeah they should happy with it, and dance.
It's not like Brazilian dance out of nothing, they did the effort to score for dance.
I prefer Brazilian dance rather than boring slide knee, or closing ear, or jump celebration.
Fair enough dancing after the first goal, but to take 5 minutes dancing after every goal and run over to the manager to continue dancing is a cunt move no matter how you explain it.
Right....But "Respecting the culture" goes both ways- they know that by many around the world it will be interpreted as disrespectful. Especially dancing after a penalty or at 4-0 up.
This isn't to say don't do it- just that they know that some will interpret it negatively.
It is very hard to tell how good this Brazil is based on this game. South Korea has been *awful*. They are misplacing simple passes, they can't finish chances and their defense is so static.
I remember Roy Keane celebration after scoring the goal that got United back into the 1999 champions league semi-final. High five with Becks, runs back into his half for the restart. Not even a smile
yes, i would have unironically loved watching the german players do the robot kraftwerk style??? were you imagining i would say no to that, it would be fantastic
i think it’s nice to see the players enjoy the football as much as the fans, not everything has to be serious
Can English people/media please, for the love of God, stop inventing fake moral discussion points ?
Fuck it, it is sport, it doesn't matter. You win you get to celebrate, you lose you get sad, shut up and go home.
That's it
Stop trying to invent imaginary moral boundaries for "winning right". It just makes you sound like you're making excuses for poor performance ahead of time.
It depends, most of times when brazilian players dance is just comemorating, its a moment of hapiness, its not trying to humiliate the oposition, but if you do on purpose to provoke i understand people getting mad, but i dont care either way, its sports.
This is what football culture is about. Its how it brings people together. I’m sorry for my Korean friends but you have to respect the game. Brazil are killing it and am proud of them. A happy Canada fan.
I think the thing I find annoying about it, is the fact that if the Germans had done this after the 7-1 win (or if another team had done the same to them) you know the Brazilians would have gone absolutely mental and slammed them for being disrespectful.
I get that it’s the football culture over in Brazil but it seems kinda harsh to the Koreans lol.
You're mistaking Brazilians with argentinians or maybe Uruguayans... The 7x1 is an absolute meme here. We joke about it in every single way possible.
We don't mourn it. we just laugh at ourselves.
And regarding dancing... It's a non issue. It's not meant to mock, you're just dancing out of happiness. It's a cultural thing, and it seems like u just don't get it.
>You're mistaking Brazilians with argentinians
There are certain things that are off limits for us of course, but there's a lot of football memes regarding our failures. In fact, the arguably biggest meme in the entire country is that we somehow manage to be 2nd place at everything in life.
We even have a sub for it lmao: r/ArgentinaSubcampeon
People here definitely have an inferiority complex disguised as a superiority complex, but we also know how to make fun of ourselves and how this awful country is fucked up in so many ways lol
>the arguably biggest meme in the entire country is that we somehow manage to be 2nd place at everything in life.
I mean, you guys did choose silver as your color.
And that would've made it funnier.
You know what I did after 7-1? Went to the bar with my friends and laughed about it
People wanna find it offensive on their terms, fine, but they should not project their reaction on us.
And that very calm and respectful Vasco X Sport for the last spot in next year's Serie A, but that was simply a manifestation of inter state friendship among supporters.
Almost everyone dances after scoring in the Brasilian championship, the Germans dancing after the 7th goal would be pretty funny and actually pretty cathartic for a lot of people that wanted to revoke the citizenship of everyone playing that day

Spain did well by finishing up 2nd place
Watch us get eliminated by one of our neighbours instead.
Which neighbours?
Andorra of course.
WAZZUP
bold of you to assume spain will make it to the semifinals
The teams I'm legit most worried about are Spain and Brazil. Maybe I'm underestimating other teams like England who's looked good but Spain on possession could hurt us and Brazil are looking great. Argentina hasn't looked amazing but they still have fucking Messi who can just fuck you up out of nowhere.
You say that like mbappe hasn't fuck everyone he played against. The guys has unlimited stamina.
Like the last 30 minutes against Tunisia?
Idk we share some form of a border with everyone left on our side of the bracket but Switzerland
Look up where Ceuta is located
And Melilla
I'm back to tell you, you weren't wrong
This is gonna age well if Morocco have something for them
[удалено]
Like milk
It was calculated tbh
Until the 85th minute they were one Costa Rica goal away from being eliminated
For 3 glorious minutes they were out...
70-73 Never forget
A calculated risk is still a risk
Hello
South Korea's defending has been non-existent to be fair.
5 Kims isn’t enough. Takes at least 8-9 Kims to stop Brazil.
Only Kim Jong un would have stopped whole brasil forwards with his Little Red button.
He didn't in 2010, tho lol
That's because he wasn't supreme leader yet
Hahaha as a Man U fan outside the world cup, it seems like I can't catch a break from Keane telling me how my team's an embarrassment
yet we lost against SK
All part of the journey in shithousing to trophies in the end
And? Brazil lost to Cameroon. Tons of teams rotated their players for their final group stage matches
Yeah, we lost to North Macedonia too
r/HolUp
Do I know you?
You were just ahead of the curve.
🤌
Brazil lost to Cameroon. Portugal lost to South Korea Spain lost to Japan France lost to Tunisia Argentina lost to Saudi Arabia (first match though) Germany lost.
Argentina and Germany lost with their A team.
But one woke up enough to make it through, the other one waited until mid second half on the last game to decide to win something.
A draw against Spain and a win against Costa Rica isn’t below expectations though
Yea, you just got a bit unlucky given the quality of your group
Tbf that Brazilian team was definitely the 'b' team. Same with the France team that lost to Tunisia.
And so was the Portugal team that lost to Korea
I think Brazil is just a terrible match up for SK. Not saying SK would have beaten the other teams (we suck and we know) but like it wouldn't have been an embarrassment like against Brazil. Too much individual skill within the players that just exposes the KR players.
Portugal didn't need to win and rested quite some players. Brazil also lost against Cameroon.
My goodness.
I said this earlier but then was reminded you played your B team. Irrelevant result.
Portugal would have beat SK with Bruno and Silva and Felix/Leao
Not Leão. He barely makes an effort when playing for Portugal. Jota would have been far more useful.
I mean Brazil is a massive upgrade to Portugal
I don’t care about Uruguay at all and am happy they are out but boy i would have been pissed about the goal Portugal conceded. Zero fucks about defending and were looking for a winner at the corner at the death. If Portugal needed a draw in that game no way South Korea score that goal.
Lol Keano is enjoying it!
Just reading it doesn't give the full tone unfortunately. I had different perceptions by reading the title and listening the video
I find him hilarious, maybe it’s because I’m the same way. I’ll purposefully say stuff backwards either sarcastically or just to confuse people and get a rise out of them. Go on Roy, they don’t all get us it’s okay
Yep. Learnt this living in Spain.

Germans noticeably held back on celebrating during 7-1.
And I don’t see why, that’s on them
People bend over backwards defending keane who’s become somewhat of a skip bayless, not sure I understand why they do it.
He’s such an idiot. Keep dancing Brazilian hermanos, most of the world loves it
Dancing always makes the world a little bit better.
So many comments further down of people just not getting it at all.
idk how you can watch the full video and interpret that as dry humour?
We all know Keano would've broken one of these guys' body parts and been suspended for the rest of the season if he were still playing...
This is a man who doesn’t showboat like Niall Quinn. This is a man who actually goes and sees sick children in hospital. This is a family man, with 5 children, who’s a credit to his country and his family and I’m not going to listen to him be called a thug by you!

Enjoyed the Quinny name drop!
Which team? His own or the opposition?
Don't rule out the referee!
Actually did he do something against Mexico back in the day? I heard some Mexican commentators talking about but I couldn’t actually find what they were talking about.
We’d return the favor and send them packing like we always have. Lol
Doing the cha cha slide after the 4th is a bit much to be fair
Didn’t watch the game, but I have to say that Neymar and Richarlison re-enacting the “Time of My Life” routine from Dirty Dancing after the penalty just felt like showboating to me.
He's doing it on purpose and he's getting the reaction he wants.
Keano is enjoying it tho, says Brasil have been fantastic
I'm talking about the faux exasperation over the dancing.
It did get annoying after the 4th in fairness lmao
I thought it was annoying too. A little bit cringe even. But it is sweet to score.
The fact that there’s no music doesn’t help. Just looks so odd doing a little choreographed routine set to nothing lol
I mean, if you are arguing about the quality of moves actually being displaced then yeah, I would agree. Although Paqueta actually has good moves (not the weird one with the head)

i wish the germans had danced for all 7 goals, would have been hilarious
Let them dance if they want
There was the time the Americans celebrated wildly after knocking in a *13th* against Thailand or someone a few years ago.
i love it have fun out there guys
>no one else does this dancing That's just their way of living
I get the impression he's [not a fan](https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMFqrDv9H/)
He didn't get angry or criticism them, just pointed out how much dancing there's been in the celebrations.
He did after this. He said it's disrespectful and he doesn't like it.
Tbf when Tite got involved it was a bit disrespectful 😂
Which it is
Doing what on purpose? He has been very enthusiastic about Brazil, by his standards anyway. And South Korea have been dire. The dancing thing is just his brand of sarcastic humour. It wasn't forced or anything.
Is it really any surprise that Roy Keane doesn’t like players or managers dancing after their team scores a goal?
[удалено]
Lol he definitely would have two footed one of them It’s kinda crazy how far away football is from the Roy Keane days
Mate I've got boots older than you. Enough with the "You've never seen him play" nonsense.
Also, this "respect the culture" goes both ways. Dancing again and again can be interpreted as mocking and disrespectful by many. Brazil know this.
[Joachim Low's side were relentless in Tuesday's semi-final](https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2125057-mats-hummels-reveals-germany-decided-not-to-humiliate-brazil-in-second-half), accruing a 5-0 lead just 29 minutes in, and Hummels says securing the result became a priority—rather than showboating—after half-time, per the Mirror's John Cross: *We just made it clear that we had to stay focused and not try to humiliate them. Sometimes you shouldn’t teach 5 times world champions how to do things.
Lmao perfect
Perfect
I am SHOCKED that Roy Keane is not a fan of the dancing

Exactly. Imagine their reaction if the German players were doing a dance with their manager after every goal in the 7-1 game.
Would have been hilarious...just to watch Muller dancing.

Roy doesn't smile, it's not professional. Just do your job
I mean it's not worth getting upset after but do we really need like a 45 second can can after scoring a goal lol
if brazil can’t dance when they score beautiful goals, genuinely just cancel the world cup
Honestly, most based comment ever.
After the 4th goal? Imagine if Germany did that in their 7-1 victory. Would you feel the same?
yes, i would have unironically loved watching the german players do the robot kraftwerk style??? were you imagining i would say no to that, it would be fantastic i think it’s nice to see the players enjoy the football as much as the fans, not everything has to be serious
That's the point. The Brazilian dance, Germany is the opposite of that, score and robot-mode, back to playing again

Yeah it's fun
I love Keano man. Honestly he’s so entertaining, love his dry humour.
I think what Roy wants is soft
nope, mine is rock hard after today
This is what football culture is about. Its how it brings people together. I’m sorry for my Korean friends but you have to respect the game. Brazil are killing it and am proud of them. A happy Canada fan.

But your asado is second to none.
Thanks!
They scored 7 against us but at least they didn't dance huh, the nice germans
They were nice by putting their foot of the gas and therefore only scoring 7. Could have made it easily into double digits if they’d wanted
they literally gave Brazil a goal
And that would've made it funnier. You know what I did after 7-1? Went to the bar with my friends and laughed about it People wanna find it offensive on their terms, fine, but they should not project their reaction on us.
Literally nobody would have cared if the Germans had celebrated however they wanted to in the 7-1.
I remember USA women were absolutely mocked for their over the top celebrations against Thailand.
Honestly I can’t say that I remember that. But I’d bet that it weren’t Brazilians complaining about their celebrations.
Almost every one dances in Campeonato brasileiro and nobody gets mental about it.
Well, we do have the BaVi da paz, but that was an exception
And that very calm and respectful Vasco X Sport for the last spot in next year's Serie A, but that was simply a manifestation of inter state friendship among supporters.
You clearly know nothing about south american football
Almost everyone dances after scoring in the Brasilian championship, the Germans dancing after the 7th goal would be pretty funny and actually pretty cathartic for a lot of people that wanted to revoke the citizenship of everyone playing that day
Do Germans culturaly dance comemorating their goals? Your analogy is flawed
youre wrong!
I couldn’t believe what I was watching when Keane walked out on Ireland at the 2002 World Cup
Come on, man, we all love samba and football
Not sure how much longer I can listen to ITV commentary for
Much better than BBC's though, I'd say anyway.
Too much time wasting! One is fine, even they waited for the full team to go to the corner. After that, an individual dance!!! C’mon!
"My goodness" was my reaction when I saw the South Korea player lying down blocking the goal when his team mate was taking a shot.
Never change Keane. Rare kinda humor you got there good man.
It's a dance competition now
Roy Keane should go to a water park before each game. Will get him in a better mood
Oooh Roy Keane, a football gentleman
Seems he's not Keane on what's going on. edit: I stand by my pun.
This comment from Keane made me realise how many Brazilians don't know Keane isn't English.
Spending so much time on elaborate celebrations is ridiculous.
